If you want a social distancing pint, look no further. The whole team were well drilled in the new normal and we felt very safe. The beer and pizza are as good as ever Highly recommended

We went in for a pizza as it was 1/2 price all January. Supposed to be wood fired, it wasn't. It was the worst pizza I've ever had. I think the bad pizza was a one off, but its a shame considering the sister pub (the Tap) does excellent pizzas at the same price point on Tuesdays (about £7.50 for a pint and pizza) as the Lion does at half price. Shame, as I like wood fired pizzas, but the ones we had were abhorrent.

Popped in for some takeaway pizza and a quick drink. The fantastic staff pointed me in the direction of the 4x4x4 meal deal. 4 pizza 4 sides and 4 drinks for £40!The food was perfect and worth every penny. The beer is always good at the LionHighly recommended

Amazing village pub, feels like it should be well out in the country. Excellent beer, lovely open fire, knowledgable and friendly bar staff, and a rear deck that almost feels Mediterranean. I cannot recommend this pub enough if you’re in Congleton

Really good beer, staff know what to recommend and are friendly and attentive, a really amazing feel to it, dog friendly with a lit fire and a warm welcome. The back decking is unexpectedly magical and well worth a visit especially if you want a bear town pizza! Will definately be coming back!

Visited this place end of August 2019 , great friendly atmosphere , good beers , not sure on the food as didn’t eat , our friend went out the back and fell badly down the wooden decking she broke 2 ribs and badly bruised her face and arms , staff advised at time as no warning tape , returned last night and still no warning tape , be careful it’s very hazardous even been put in the accident book

Probably the best Sunday lunch in Congleton. Wide choice of meats, and nicely cooked vegtables . Two sizes of meals to satisfy small and large appetites.

We booked Ye Olde White Lion for my brothers 65th birthday celebration as we used to live in Congleton as kids.Five of us congregated for Sunday LunchWell... it was wonderful....the atmosphere was quintessential British.Flower baskets outside.....oak beams in (and a range of real ales for those that partake)The Sunday lunch was beautiful with a variety of meats and vegetables freshly prepared. It was piping hot, accompanied by scrummy gravy and all the compliments, not forgetting the yorkshire pudding. Then there was the desserts, all baked to order with even the rhubarb in the rhubarb crumble grown in chefs garden. After each course chef came to the table to ensure all was perfect. Always in my opinion a sign of the chefs confidence. We could not praise the Ye Olde White Lion staff and chef enough in making a special occasion, a Sunday afternoon to remember. It's taken 50 years to return to Congleton but I think we may make an annual pilgrimage just to eat again at our new found gemThank you chef and all the staff of the Ye Olde White Lion for your perfect hospitality and service.

If theirs a better Sunday lunch than this then i've never had the privilege. Nice old looking pub in the heart of Congleton. Nice to sit outside or just admire the oldy worldy of inside. If its a Sunday, the Sunday roast is an absolute must, couldn't fault anything.

This pub claims to do the best Sunday roast in Congleton and I reckon they are right. Special compliments for the roasties but it was all really good. Cauliflower cheese and leeks. Nice Beartown beer too.

Half-timbered, low-beamed, this old, town centre pub is oozing atmosphere and bonhomie. New to Congleton, we went for Sunday lunch and ended up feeling that we'd found a 'local'. The food - roast beef with all the trimmings - was enormously good value with two meals for £12.00. A pint of Pedigree - one of my long term favourites - was perfectly clear and also good value. This is a pub to come back to - and our next trip will be to one of their great value steak nights.

Tried it once for Sunday lunch which was excellent. A choice of size of helpings and a range of traditional beers. We went back recently at 4:30pm on a Sunday and despite the sign outside they had stopped serving!

Heard that the Sunday lunch was very good so thought I'd give it a go. They were spot on, not as good as my mums but whose is?

I tried to book a Sunday lunch here by walking into reception. I had to wait awhile and felt I was an inconvenience to the member of staff. There was a lack of atmosphere and I felt it wasn't the best place for my family to meet up & eat there. However, I have attended a couple of wedding receptions and also a Christmas 'do' with previous employers. Each of those 3 occasions were exellent, including the food and entertainment. It may have been a bad day for the receptionist who was unprofessional on that particular day. I can neither recommend nor dismiss the White Lion, but I won't be 'risking' it again.

The pub is a really friendly local pub with a great selection of ales and nice wine also. I have never had the food, but believe it is very good and offers good value for money. You are made to feel like a local even if you are not, and it is always great fun. Large smoking area at the rear as well, which is shielded from the elemtns. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely old pub with great crowd in. Beer wasgood and outside area too the back would have been great to go in but it threw it down whilst there. The area is covered but it was raining so hard it was like a small river running through.

Our first visit to the town. As we walked around we noticed the typical chain pubs then saw this gem on the high street. Loads of character, staff very pleasant and helpful. Wine was very nice, good range. Nice mix of available beers. Lots of options going back into the garden area. Sympathetically placed TV screens so not overpowering. If I lived here I would make this my local.

Always a delight to have breakfast here. Proper full breakfast cooked and served to perfection by Holly and Gemma. There's nothing here to complain about at all. Always a warm welcome, and just a pleasure to make time here for a proper breakfast. What more can I say?

We used to regularly walk to Miola for a coffee and can’t believe how it has changed. Outside is a complete dump with tatty pieces of furniture up for sale at ridiculous prices . The elephant and giraffe which have been there for years are still for sale at a ridiculous price. Toilet was filthy with no toilet paper. Chose to sit outside as had children with us and tables were tatty and dirty. The food was overpriced and mediocre. Bacon sandwich with virtually no bacon. Peanut butter on toast which was slimy and greasy. Children took one look and didn’t touch it and can’t say I blamed them. It is so sad as Miola used to be such a lovely place to go to. Can only assume that with Holmes Chapel closing its on the cards that Sandbach will close as well. So disappointing and what a waste of money !
