Food was delicious. Think I was in a food coma when I left. Will definitely be recommending.

Clean, spacious, friendly, plenty of rooms offering different environment for dogs and hikers alike. Beer garden out the back with a nice view. And also the Guinness was spot on! A pool table in a little bar at the rear if your not looking for food. Recommend after doing the roaches walk 🚶👍

A fantastic little find. The missus booked us in here for Sunday lunch as it was near the end of a walk she was doing. We were not disappointed. Lovely food, friendly staff, and the price didn't hurt too much either! It's a bit of a way for us to get to, but we will most definitely be returning ☺️

Not at all as I expected. Very tastefully modernised, a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff. The menu has ample choice without having an overwhelming number of dishes to choose from. We had the Sunday Roast, I had lamb and my partner had beef and both meats were cooked perfectly. Honestly it's probably the best roast I've ever had whilst dining out. Would definitely recommend.

Just wonderful place to relax after a walk in the peak district. They even have a wet dog and wet human room. Nice and warm to thaw out on a winters day or equally slake a thirst during a hot summer with a cold pint. 6 stars if we had the option.

We have not visited this place since the pandemic and wow what a change! Massive improvement to the interior with very friendly staff and facilities that are very well done. Food was superb and delivery to our table very quickly. Really impressed with the quality of the food and would highly recommend a visit!

It's our first time visiting since it was taken over some 2 years ago.Its had a very high quality refit,and was blown away by everything. Some amazing work has been done,and I look forward to visiting again soon. The quality of the food was exceptional.

Incredible roast dinner, everything was cooked to perfection and the service and atmosphere were brilliant. Highly recommend booking as it was busy, but this had no effect whatsoever on the quality or speed of the service. Stacks of parking opposite so you won't struggle to find a space. The photograph speaks for itself really.

What a fantastic pub after you’ve just spent a few hours walking The Roaches. From the off the barman couldn’t have been more helpful inviting us in, to pouring two pints of the finest Timmy Taylor’s Landlord. The Pint was spot on and gave us the opportunity to review the menu. Lots of choice, decided to go with the beef and Stilton pie. Food came quickly, first impressions it looked amazing and didn’t disappoint. The chips were chunky and went well with the pot of gravy. Pie was delicious with puff pastry and plenty of chunks of beef. Superb service, couldn’t find a single fault and the food was really tasty, would have licked the plate if I could. Managed to sit next to the fire which was nice and cosy… a perfect setting 👍 if you’re looking for a cracking pub this is Highly recommended.

Booked last minute online as we happened to be in the area - all seamless & my 2 dining partners had been before. Great service, food & venue. Really generous portions & the food was presented beautifully. The venue is in a beautiful setting & there was plenty of parking. Was a great experience & a Christmas treat from me for my Mother in law & partner - thanks for looking after us so well. Definitely want to return to try the Sunday roast!

We called in with our campervan looking for food and to park for the night. My husband went in to ask if we could park overnight on their car park, it was just great that we were allowed. We parked up and went over to have dinner . The owners were very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us m. We both ordered the small fish and chips, which came in no time it was delicious and very filling. We decided to share the apple and rhubarb crumble , it was hot and very delicious. We left feeling very full.

Cosy and characterful pub which has been tastefully refurbished inside. Landlord/ staff very friendly & the whole establishment is immaculately clean. Menu good for a pub although some prices are quite expensive compared with other local restaurants. Generous portion sizes and a great choice of drinks. My only negative comment would be that the children's burger is extremely basic and is served in a toasted bun with no sauce, no lettuce, no tomato. I expected to see some lettuce and a slice of tomato as a bare minimum. Will definetely return though.

Absolutely wonderful pub and restaurant. I was here not long after midday and was greeted at the door. The pub is immaculately done out, the temperature was warm, and while music was playing, it was quiet and unobtrusive . The food is fantastic and well worth the price, and the ale was perfectly settled and not hazy. I would definitely return if I'm ever up this way again.

After walking The Roaches, Hen Cloud and Ranshaw rocks myself and my walking buddy pulled in for a well earned drink and lunch. Never been here before but having seen the signs for the pub on approach earlier in the day we thought we'd head in. The pub has great decor and really friendly staff. We were soon sat at a table and the pub was a little quiet but it had just opened on a Saturday lunch time. We had a tikka chicken naan wrap and a chicken salad. Both were well portioned and delicious. Some of the best pub food I've had. If I'm back in the area I'll definitely return.

After this place came very highly recommended to us we decided to finally give it go, we were not disappointed! Lovely and welcoming staff, cosy fire, relaxing atmosphere and the most delicious food! We will definitely be back!

Lovely country pub just outside Leek, slightly off the main road. Clean, well maintained , friend. We were quickly sat down, and sorted with our food and drinks order. Food was pipping hot, and tasted great. Soup and steak both were very good. Staff were attentive to our requests. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Very good pub, recommended. Will visit again soon for a Sunday dinner.

Absolutely Amazing Sunday Dinner!! We ordered a lamb and a belly pork roast dinner. Devine! Veg was lovely, loads of gravy and the meat for both was gorgeous. Best Sunday dinner we have had for a very very long time. Puddings lovely also, huge portions we both could not finish them. One apple and ginger crumble and one bannoffe pie.

We popped in when driving past and so happy we did! Large carpark, warm welcome, lovely refurbished interior and delicious food at a fair price. We had to wait a while but you could tell it was cooked fresh and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We'll be back for sure!

I turned up on spec and noticed all the tables were reserved. Why? This pub is in the middle of nowhere. A few moments later I have a spare table and food ordered. Now let me tell you this... The atmosphere is relaxed and classic country pub. The service is efficient and very friendly - excellent. The food.... Oh the food... Superb superb superb. I now know why all the tables were reserved. What a beautiful pub.

Omg what can I say , the best Sunday roast I’ve ever had ( better than my mums ) beef was melt in your mouth with the nicest gravy ever , my girlfriend had pork , we both had the desserts chocolate brownie and crumble both obviously homemade not bought in rubbish both stunning top quality

It was such a long time since we any of us had been to the Olde Rock but the previous reviews encouraged us! We were not disappointed! The fresh, airy décor and warm welcome were just lovely on a chilly Autumn afternoon and the food was delicious! The furnishings, fixtures and fittings were all of a high standard and the toilets were spotlessly clean and well maintained. We will definitely return and wish the owners continued success in this beautiful inn! Thank you.

As usual, we are pleased to say, we had a very enjoy dinner. Ed and Amy gave us a very warm welcome, as did Laura, Ethan and Emily. All staff are extremely friendly and attentive and are always keen to ensure that you have a good time. The food is of a high standard. Always cooked well, in our experience, with fresh, quality produce and plenty of it! Very happy to recommend!!

Went with family for Sunday lunch. The beef was really nice and i am told the belly port was equally as good. The service was friendly and efficient. Dof friendly as well but you do need to book. Couldt fault it.

Our first visit to this beautiful and impressive pub/restaurant; and it will not be our last. From beginning to end, the service was friendly and informative but not overly familiar or intrusive. Laura was our server and did a truly splendid job; thank you. My husband and I had the Sunday Lunch, I had beef my husband the lamb. All served with roast and mashed potatoes, carrot, parsnip, red cabbage, a selection of greens and, Yorkshire pudding. Top marks to the chef, my beef was medium rare, perfectly cooked and clearly carved from a 'proper joint of beef', my husbands lamb was delicious and so tender. I had a lovely desert of sticky toffee pudding with custard. Although neither of us had a starter, a near-by table ordered the pate. It was served in an individual ramekin with a covering of clarified butter; the gentleman said it was delicious. This is a family run business and the owners take great pride in their restaurant. The decor is outstanding throughout, very clean and well maintained. There are several rooms to sit and eat or drink in, each slightly different from the other; there is even a room where you can have a meal if you have a dog with you . So often pubs that are over two hundred years old seem to have years of clutter but the Rock Inn is staged to give a modern, pleasing and, friendly appearance whilst maintaining the buildings historic value. The area around The Roaches is outstanding and to have it on your door step is one thing then to top it off with a visit to Ye Olde Rock Inn... anyone would think you were resting in God's Own County; Yorkshire. ( high praise indeed from a Yorkshire Lass now living in Staffordshire)

Fantastic meal at The Rock Inn tonight! The service was wonderful with all the staff being very polite and attentive, the food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was really lovely. The whole experience felt really quite special which is rare nowadays. Highly recommended 🤩

A mediocre, dull pub. Looks like a cheap chain. A freehouse that serves Doom Bar and Landlord (and the standard Rekordelig, Madri, Guinness etc.) Is not a free house IMO. Might as well be a Wetherspoons. Not a good pint of TT Landlord, either. Food looked good, though paltry offer for vegetarians so we swerved. Good parking, though.

Came here on a very warm Saturday afternoon and was really impressed. Great selection of drinks on draught as well as in the fridge (including Guinness 0.0 which is very rare!). Nice big menu, good food and quick friendly service. Also gorgeous location! Deffo reccomended

Absolutely fabulous food, a great place for a meal with beautiful food, attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. Definitely will be returning soon. Lots of parking spaces and well decorated with very generous portion sizes. Every part of our 3 meals was fantastic and there was a good choice for our vegetarian daughter.

We enjoy a good hike, & the Ye Olde Rock Inn is superbly situated by the Roaches, Peak District. Following a refreshing walk in nature, we stopped by at the pub for a bit of lunch. Exceptional service, layout, & most importantly is paw friendly, for all our fury friends! Will be recommending!

I visited Ye Olde Rock Inn last week with my young daughter and we will definitely be returning. There was a great selection of meals to choose from, I had the belly pork which I highly recommend. Very good portion size and also priced well. The staff were very warm and welcoming and there was a great ambience. we are already planning our next visit and looking forward to visiting during autumn to appreciate the cozy ambience. Pre booked a meal for my partners birthday, only to be insulted by owner when asked for the menu in advance, he looked my partner up and down and told her "maybe they give menus in places you go like wetherspoon but we don't here" ... spoke to his partner to place a complaint but she couldn't have appeared less interested or genuine so we freed our table for someone else to have and left. The owner had been pleasant to me when serving at the bar so can't help but feel a hint of racism involved as my partner has an Eastern European accent. Baffled and won't be returning sadly as the pub itself is in an idyllic setting.

Surprise stop off on our way back after dog walk up the Roaches. Great service and lovely pub. Food was excellent. Looking forward to our next visit.

Shocking welcome after a walking Hen Cloud and The Roaches. Cask ales? Poor selection Doom Bar and Timothy Taylors Landlord. As a CAMRA member I've never been told "you can't have a lemonade top on ale" which the Mrs has everywhere we stop for a pint. They've turned this into a bright vacuous version of its former self. Keeping the fireplace doesn't make it warm. Having read your response I stand firmly behind my review. However, may I ask: How do you know how professionally I was served? Where were you?, as only I my wife and your unwelcoming barmaid Emily, were present. How does adding lemonade on top of ale make it explode in the glass?Perhaps when you ask CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Association) association (sic) they may have the answer. Vendetta? a prolonged bitter campaign I'm not sure a bad review following 1 visit constitutes this accusation, though your lack of contrition in response speaks volumes. Please let me know how your contact with CAMRA goes, I look forward to their response.

Reading through the reviews. The one thing that would literally stop me returning to your pub is the over the top aggressive responses to any negative comments people make. You’re in the wrong business mate 😂😂…. Oh and ‘Emily’ was NOT welcoming or friendly. How you would know though is beyond me. As there were only us 3 in the room at the time. And to think I actually said maybe the owners need to know cos it’s their business the she’s affecting. Little did I know she’d learnt her hospitality ‘skills’ from you 😂😂😂

A once wonderful Peak pub now turned into a bland corporatised confection. Standard decor from a warehouse, bland piped music. Not for those who love the hills and authenticity.

We finished an enjoyable weekend away with the Roast dinner (beef) and a pint. We arrived without booking on a busy Sunday but were seated quickly and only a comfortable wait before we were eating. One of the best Sunday roasts I've had. Polite and attentive staff. I'm already looking forward to the next visit.

The best pub/restaurant in the area by a mile. Great food, attentive staff, amazing service. They really cannot do more for you. Excellent with kids and they always strive to please. A well run establishment. Even their sausage and mash is banging!
