Ye Olde Pounde Cafe in Stratford-on-Avon

Just fancied a full English breakfast so I decided to give this cafe a go . Couldn't fault excellent food . Great value and lovely friendly staff. If your over that way well worth a visit.

Lovely breakfast but the service was excellent, very sweet older couple couple. Would definitely recommend stopping off for a bite to eat, made our day :)

Pulled in after a long journey and had high hopes for this charming looking cafe. Unfortunately, I feel like the owners of this cafe should probably just retire. I felt I was an inconvenience just being there. They are incredibly rude and clearly unhappy. I have never been spoken to that way before and have never been made to feel so unwelcome as a customer. I had my average coffee, in the average manky cafe and left as soon as I could. I definitely will never return. Do not waste your money at this cafe!

A great cafe. Mainly simple breakfast fayre. Eat inside or outside. Very efficient and friendly service. They couldn’t do enough to please. Big car park. Toilets.

We stopped for breakfast. There is a sign that says the menu cant be changed. Yet as we are allergic to eggs; we always ask. And there has never been a problem. Yet here; on politely asking if we could swap the egg for extra beans. We were told no. Its a set menu. I am allergic to eggs; and if eat something even with a hint of egg on- can end up very poorly. The woman serving was exceptionally rude and didn't care that a customer eating a food they were allergic could end up in hospital. The café has been reported to the local Environmental Health Officer; so hopefully this kind of attitude to public health does not continue.

Found by accident on our travels while looking for somewhere to stop for the toilet. Loverly (non greasy) cafe, friendly service, great food, great prices. Definately going to save this one for future stops. Food ranges from Sandwiches hot/cold,jackets, all day breakfasts.

My father lives in Henley In Arden and has been a regular here for over 20 years, first name terms and they know his order. Yesterday (16th June) was my first time as my father treated me to lunch. I had double egg & chips & bottle of water, my father had his usual sausage & tomato sandwich & a glass of milk. Total cost £9.50! What an absolute bargain. The review saying it's expensive is completely incorrect, it is VERY cheap price wise. Food was delicious. It's run by a couple who live on the premises. The lady was very friendly and attentive. It was a really hot day and the rear door was open that leads to their private garden. It has a lovely ornamental water feature pond and I complimented it. The lady let me go out and have a really good look at it. That was a real treat. The establishment is extremely clean and tidy. I really enjoyed it and will absolutely be going again. Superb.

Excellent. Bright and clean inside, and very friendly staff. I had a bacon sandwich. Really tasty bacon on fresh soft bread. My friends had a selection of Full English breakfasts, all perfectly cooked with good quality produce. All in all a good breakfast, would recommend!

Came here for breakfast few times whilst working in the area. Old guy is ovely and so was the lady. Today i came for breakfast rang the order through over the phone. At most late by 2 minutes. When i got there ther way I was spoken to by the lady was unacceptable. Made me feel very unwelcome with her comments in front of other customers. Kept shaking her head at me whilst eating my breakfast up until now I couldnt fault the service but unfortunately after todays experience I will not be coming back!!

We visited 2 weeks ago. It looks great before you enter the building but … The food is reheated and frankly awful . It’s also really expensive. I’m not a huge McDonald’s fan , but you get much better food there for half the price tbh. As if that wasn’t bad enough,the staff were cold and we really didn’t feel very welcome. You get what you’re given and there’s little here for vegans . The tea was vile too. Wish we’d read the reviews beforehand. It’s such a shame because the location is great and the building has so much potential. On a more positive note the toast was actually OK. I hate to say it but one to avoid unfortunately.

Great no-frills cafe. Food excellent, staff friendly and hard working. Seating inside and on sunny terrace outside, far enough back from the road. Lots of room to park. All around a good spot.

We had almost given up in finding a place for breakfast where we could park and Google Maps turned us off the main Stratford Road to do a detour due to road works. As we turned left what should we see but this wonderful cafe with its own car park. The breakfast menu called us in! We each had a small breakfast, which included 2 rounds of lovely thick toast and a hot drink, good quality bacon, egg and sausages, all for £5.50. Where else could you get such good value? The premises were clean and bright and the owners so welcoming. It would certainly be on our daily breakfast call of we lived nearer! Thank you.

We came across this place while driving to Stratford, so stopped off for a quick snack. Simple, honest food freshly prepared, good tea, and all served with a friendly smile. Very easy parking, and everywhere spotlessly clean. What's not to like?

Visited yesterday for breakfast after not having been for a few years due to circumstances. Pleased to see that the same friendly couple were still running it, food was still as good and great value for money.

Ignore the bad reviews. We had a lovely breakfast served up by a nice friendly older couple. The lady who cooked and served the food was very nice , in fact probably a little too attentive for some , but she was genuinely interested in...

Awful food, awful service, was told never to come back after charging my phone in there. The old bint who was behind the counter was the rudest woman I've ever came across alongside her miserable husband. Will never be visiting again.

Called in on the off chance as missed breakfast where we stayed, so glad we did, was a lovely breakfast and great value, nice staff fast and friendly service.

go here quite a lot passing back and forth between Birmingham and Stratford on Avon. Always friendly. The salads are amazing ham and cheese my favourite. Full english brekkie is always popular here and judging by how many people are regulars and known by name...

Drive on by ! Although spotlessly clean inside, none of staff wearing masks or shields & no track & trace on premises. We wore masks on entering but EVERYONE else who entered, 9 in total wore NO MASKS & didn't bother using hand sanitizer. Everyone...

What a lovely little cafe! Will definitely return if coming this way. A cheerful smile, a lovely jacket potato with cheese and beans. Obviously used by locals, well worth a visit, just off M40 motorway. Glad I made the 5 minute detour!

Well what can I say It was clean yes the food was ok But my god the cook was awful she’s all nice when you first go in then if you order something and decide to change something she gives you a look as if...

No sign outside to say that Dogs are not welcome, very rude when I entered with my dog to order a takeout cup of tea - won’t be back!

Me and my partner have been visiting the cafe for a good few years now, we always feel very welcomed on arrival, food is alway exceptional can’t fault anything :)

While visiting the area with a friend we stopped off for a light lunch. Very pleased with the food on offer. Seating inside very clean and well placed. Had a nice welcome from the staff and service was quick. Toliets are accessed from just outside main door. Open from 06.30 to 15:00 only - big car park with entrance and exit points.

I came here a few months ago for something eat and we had ordered our food and while we were waiting I looked to see if there was a WiFi and there was but no password displayed so I asked this man have you got the password to the WiFi anywhere please and he said yes but I haven’t got time to give it you and he’s standing round talking for the next half an hour or so and I was like I thought you didn’t have time to do something that’d take you 10 seconds if that but always got time to talk but nevertheless tho my bacon sausage and mushroom toasted sandwich was really nice

Visited this Cafe with a group of friends found the staff serving to be Unriendly they would benefit from a day at Charm School, no charisma and personality at . The breakfast served was very basic fried egg, deep-fried sausages who on earth deep fries frozen sausages ? The toast was cold with margarine on it not butter. Good parking and quite busy don’t understand why it was so busy surely can’t be repeat customers.

This cafe is amongst the best we've visited, its very friendly, welcoming, spotlessly clean, good selection of excellent food, morning papers available for you to read, ample parking and spotless toilet facilities. Can't speak highly enough of it, keep up the good work.

I must admit I do NOT know why these 6 ladies have put such utter rubbish on their review. We have frequented Ye Olde Pounde for many years now. I have never been to such a clean, welcoming Cafe before. You can never tell if people have been there before or not as the welcome is ALWAYS the same. Always pleased to see anyone who walks through the door. The food is excellent and value for money too. It is good holesome food. Everywhere is very clean. They have neumorus high grades too for ecellant conditions. They welcome all walks of life AND children too. So, I am sorry to say I totally disagree with the last review on here of those 6 ladies and 3 children

A couple of weeks ago, a group of 6 of us ladies met for lunch there, along with 3 children, when we all had lunch & drinks. We have been there many times before and always found it ok, cheap and cheerful café food, which suited us well especially with kids. Some of us work very close by, and therefore have spent a fair bit there over the years too, by getting sandwich rounds for early meetings, etc...

Living on the South Coast where everything is overpriced and value for money is almost none existent, seeing the prices on the menu here made me and my wife think we’d travelled back in time!

On a busy road into Henley-in-Arden in a modern building, a pleasant cafe where homemade leek and potato soup and cottage pie peas and chips were enjoyed. Very friendly service from nice ladies who run it and the place was spotless!

I always pop into this "greasy Spoon" cafe.- it has 5* Hygene rating. great bacon sarnie and mug of tea. Run by elderly couple, you dont hve to wait long - so if you are in a rush, u can run in order your brekkie - run to their very very clean toilet and back out , meal is ready.

the cafe is amazing the food is so nice and there is enough to fill you up for the day the sausages are nice as they are deep fried which gives them a great texture

Did not enjoy the breakfast and found the staff rude. It is clean however and good parking. Just thought all elements of the meal were a bit insipid.

The most perfect place to eat locally, when you have worked all morning in the garden, ready to flop and be presented with good wholesome food. Delightful, long serving staff, always show an interest in you, they genuinely care and want you to enjoy a meal in comfort. PERFECT!

Having eaten at many cafes like this throughout the UK I have to say this us without doubt the worst. Had the smalk breakfast. No deviation from menu allowed but ok. Sausages part cooked and sliced then deep fried to warm up. Barely buttered toast, tasteless mushrooms and tea poured from a pot with milk already in it. To cap it all really arrogant miserable manager.

The staff are so happy and relaxed here. I had a toasted bacon sandwich with a mug of tea. Everything tasted great and I had a read of the morning paper before heading off to the job.

We've driven past this cafe on the hill outside Henley in Arden many, many times on our way to Stratford. My husband remembers it from his childhood so it's quite a local landmark! Finally we got to stop there as we both wanted breakfast before meeting friends in Stratford.

Un salto aquí en martes, el mejor desayuno alrededor y una fantástica relación calidad-precio. El personal encantador y el lugar estaba muy limpio. Tan impresionados regresamos el miércoles para probar el almuerzo, así que no puedo esperar este será un restaurante normal para nosotros ahora;)

Nos detuvimos para comer, pero todos tuvimos desayunos. El personal era amable y la comida era buena y cocinados a la orden. Sin duda recomendaría este café.

I love this place and try to go whenever I'm in the area. Staff are super friendly and helpful, lots of regulars here but everyone treated the same. Food is mostly breakfast and coffee as open early until early afternoon. English breakfast is great and hot, obviously cooked to order and with special requests accommodated.

Came across this little gem when I had an hour to kill before a meeting. Staff are friendly and polite. Food is cooked to order and piping hot served to your table. Steady stream of customers come and go but you can tell they are regulars as they are greeted by first name and "just the usual" is the order. Fantastic little place, will return every time i travel to this area which is normally every three months....wouldn't be surprised if they remember me next time!!

Fantastic little cafe just off the Stratford road in Henley . Staff extremely friendly , service with a smile ! Prices very reasonable . Food excellent and decent size portions ! If you are going out and in need of a good start this is the place to go .. I have been here a few times after a recommendation and enjoy coming here , plenty of room for parking . The cafe is opened from 6.30- 3 in the week and 2 on a Saturday and is closed on a Sunday . My only issue is there are not enough toilets ... There is always a que when I go !

We were on our way home from Stratford and hubby said I know of a cafe we used to go to as kids it's still there shall we stop I agreed we went in lovely and clean place we sat at the back which according to hubby was where the games machines used to be when he was a kid, we ordered full breakfast for hubby I had sausage eggs hash brown Megan had sausage bacon egg sarnie the lady doing the cooking was very quick and efficient and was intent on making sure everyone got the right order our meals came within 5mins lovely and hot nice soft eggs what's the point of a hard fried egg there's nothing to dip your sausage in or your toast the staff were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed there was a family already seated when we arrived and a steady stream of customers meant it was soon filling up looks like lots of workmen and lorry drivers come here and the staff knew their names also lots of locals as well. They also do a lovely lunch menu by the looks of it, lovely home cooked fresh food if they can do it why can't certain pubs will definitely go back but this time to try one of the lunches well done good old fashioned English service something you don't get very often nowadays must be a PC thing. They are open from 6.30am till 2.30pm.

After a busy weekend featuring lots of travelling, my boyfriend and I happened to see this little cafe by chance on our way to his parents. We decided to nip in for a fry up breakfast and we were definitely satisfied. It was cute, clean and the staff were lovely. Our fry ups came quickly and they were delicious. The atmosphere was really nice and the staff made us feel welcome. We would definitely return.

Well placed on a road not over supplied with eateries. Friendly and very reasonably priced. Easy parking with outdoor seating. Not simply dog tolerant but genuinely dog friendly.

Pre-arranged with the owner we used this Great Cafe as a vehicle change over & refreshment point for an executive drive event. The Cafe was also used for a debrief & feedback meeting during the drive. We have now made this part of our drive route due to the wonderful hospitality

I turned up early on s Saturday morning with a large order for take away sandwiches. There was plenty of staff on hand that dealt with my order very efficiently and they all worked together, they are a great team. I sat and waited with a cup of tea but before I'd finished my order was ready, all bagged and packed in a box with sauce sachets and knives and forks. The prices are good and there's plenty of car parking. Everyone loved their sandwiches.

Called in to the cafe for the first time. Orderd a small breakfast. Was served quickly. The food was cooked fresh. Staff very friendly and helpful and efficient. Toilet facilities were the best I have seen for a long time. Would recommend.

our group of six stopped for a Saturday morning Breakfast. The staff were very welcoming, 4 of us had a traditional English breakfast and two had bacon sandwiches. The food was hot, fresh; as we could watch it being prepared. Very clean kitchen and bathrooms were spotless! Much to our surprise the breakfasts were delivered with a smile grease free. Kudos!!

Small family run cafe on the way to the motorway junction with plenty of parking.Came here midday and could still get breakfast!They also serve a wide selection of sandwiches, meals and jacket potatoes.Food served quickly but well cooked and piping hot. Not that cheap but good quality.

Quick service, cheap food, friendly staff. Get what you pay for. Good choice of foods at reasonable prices. allow for slight changes to what you order. Only downer no mushrooms on the full English, have to pay extra.

We decided to eat breakfast here as we were staying at the Henley Lodge across the road. The café is lovely and clean and has a hygiene rating of 5 out of 5. There was a good selection on the menu. We ordered 2 small and one large cooked breakfast. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. There were complimentary newspapers to read and plenty of parking as well as a post box in the car park.

Great stop for caravans, big carpark and just a stone's throw from the M40 so a better option than motorway services. Friendly staff, freshly prepared food and spotlessly clean. Not your average transport cafe.

Five of us stopped for a Saturday morning Breakfast. The staff were very welcoming to my children. 4 of us had a traditional English breakfast and one just a bacon sandwich. The food was very fresh we could watch it being cooked In a very clean kitchen. The breakfasts were delivered with a smile virtually grease free. The eating area was clean with every sauce imaginable available. Neither the food or service could be faulted

If good value = cheap nasty food then this cafe is ideal.Cheap meat and VERY cheap coffee.Every aspect of the 'full English' breakfast failed to taste like anything you would expect. When we asked for a refund (having only tasted the dish) the owner was rude, sarcastic and tried to humiliate us.Awful food and awful staff.I suspect the only reason this cafe survives is largely due to passing trade (those who rarely return).Loads of parking though!

Lovely welcoming staff, lasagne and chips is niceee an filling! They always offer you more an want you to be satisfied. Cheap prices.

Have been to Ye Olde Pounde Cafe several times over the years, but did not realise it was on Tripadvisor! Will be going again on my way to Stratford upon Avon in the morning. Plenty of parking, toilets, and spotless cafe with good inexpensive food (other meals throughout the day apart from breakfast). Always had a pleasant welcome from the staff. would recommend if in the area, and close to M42 Jcn 16.

Ye Olde Pounde Cafe and is a proper traditional breakkie cafe. Inside it looks like a typical cafe, little tables scattered around and a small kitchen at the back, the prices are really reasonable though. For a full fry up with all the trimmings and toast and tea or coffee for about a fiver. I stumbled on the cafe quite by accident when the M42 was blocked and I decided to go off piste on my journey to Cheltenham.The cafe is spotlessly clean and I recieved a very warm welcome from the staff. As for the food the portion size is really good. You get:2 slices of toastfried bread2 sausages2 rashers of bacona fried egga hash brownTomatoes& baked beansEverything on my plate was beautifully cooked. The fried bread was perfectly crispy, the sausages were cooked perfectly as was the bacon, the egg was just as I like it, runny and the baked beans were nice and hot! Over all this is a brilliant price for a tasty breakfast! I would recommend this cafe to anyone!
