We found this pub via the Camra website and were not disappointed. The front of the pub was a bit crowded but the kind barlady opened up a separate room down some steps to the right of the bar and put the lights on especially for us. This back room was comfortable and tastefully decorated with interesting paintings and flags. The pub is quiet, warm and friendly, well off the beaten track (Looe can get a bit crowded with tourists), and the drinks reasonably priced. When I asked for a diet coke the kind lady asked if I wanted a pint or half pint - not something I always get asked in a pub. We will certainly make a point of visiting the Fisherman's Arms the next time we are in Looe.

Thought we would pop in here as looked like a nice old pub. Me and my child went in thinking another party member was in they weren't so, so we went to the back as we are a large group. Child went to the toilet and we were going to wait for everyone else. While my child was in the toilet the handful of people that were in there started talking about us. Needless to say I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. I messaged the rest of the party to say we will meet outside and go somewhere else. I then was followed out of the pub. Felt terrible I didn't buy that drink we were planning and they lost a party of 11 peoples custom. If they had an issue with us using the toilet before ording they could have spoken to me and I would have explained not talk about us. We ended up in a pub further up the road that was busy, had a lovely garden and a much more welcome atmosphere.

The land lady was super welcoming, as was all the other locals. A genuinely fantastic time for us all. Best quiz night ever, bar none.

I’m such a snob I know, but I was initially really disappointed by Looe - a pretty coastal Cornish village swamped by too many over-sized tattooed tourists - but the village wholly redeemed by my sheer good luck of dropping into the Fisherman’s Arms; over a quiet pint in the beer garden I was regaled by stories of various musical acts known or witnessed by the afternoon’s singing entertainer (a Cornish local chap in his late 40s) as he warmed his vocal chords with a beer… I decamped to the bar - right next to our singer and spent some of the best 2 hours listening to the greatest hits (Elton John, Prince etc) of the 70s and 80s whilst locals danced and pranced and had a grand old time; attentive service kept me topped up with tribute, so when my day was done, I sailed up the hill to my accommodation with EJs ‘I guess that’s why they call it the blues’ repeating in my head for the next 48 hours; a fabulous afternoon in the end after a shaky start - I doff my cap to The Fisherman’s

We had battered cod and chips here today which was awful, the batter was soggy and the chips anaemic . I did tell 2 members of staff , the 1st one just said "oh dear I will let chef know" the 2nd looked across at another table who had fish and chips and said " theirs looks fine" I did say ours wasn't, but no apologies whatsoever....with the cost of everything rising, treats are becoming less frequent and you hope to get a decent meal when you do go out or at least a heartfelt apology. Sorry the post is negative but if the staff won't accept something is wrong and do something it's poor...

I won’t be visiting this pub again after having the barmaid barking out her orders. My dog was choking under the table so i raised it briefly to the seat to assist. (which was away from the table in the middle of a bench seat). Immediately the barmaid barked her order mouthing FLOOR. I also witnessed her shouting from behind the bar at a child to go and wait with parents in the doorway. The child had got bored/tired and went to sit down. I understand children shouldn’t be near the bar area but there are ways and means to address paying customers, the signage was also very small and unnoticeable upon arrival. Once patents sat down, she was trying to direct them to sit around the corner. On finishing our food, the plates were taken whilst still chewing as if to get us moving on. This place doesn’t feel very family friendly for a lunchtime visit, more for the night scene unfortunately. We were not tourists, we live in the West Country and trying out some of the venues on our doorstep but this wasn’t a good experience.

Called in here today for a cheeky beer, we had become tired and weary due to the bustle of Buller Street. The refreshing sight of the landlord was a relief. Upon request he opened up the upstairs beer garden for us and our little dog. Had a pint and a relaxing 30mins or so to recharge. Bloke behind the bar (Landlord?) Was very friendly and accommodating, however being a Leeds fan I was taken aback by "Leeds" being printed on the urinals. Downside to this place is the plethora of steps, especially to the toilets. This isn't the landlords fault as he cannot change the building.
