Lovely setting. Great dog friendly pub. Disappointingly not so friendly to humans. We reserved a table for Sunday lunch, upon arrival we were left standing at the bar with 2 staff doing their best to avoid eye contact… then Sophie walked in and knew exactly what being a good host meant, attentive with a smile, I hope her disposition is catching to the other staff. Food was OK, timing was a bit here and there, had almost finished when the cauliflower cheese arrived, was more like cauliflower poached in milk but nothing compares to Mums 🤷♂️ We’d give it a second go but can’t score more than a 3.

Log fire 🔥 toasty, thats a winner for me winner chicken dinner.. lovely experience great food and service shown to our seats within seconds of arrival, lucky for us next to the fire. Shame I forgot to bring the chestnuts. We were served by Mark who glided his way around the tables, it was just like watching a ballerina at the theatre. Our drinks were with us in a matter of seconds. one pint of spitfire larger and a master brew which I was told was tip top, We placed our food order with Sam who went out of her way to help with our choices due to one of the party have allergies, nothing was to much trouble it's great someone looking so happy in their job. The food came out within 15 minutes. We all commented what a great kitchen team they have working like clock work especially as the Ye Olde Beverlie was rather busy the grass fed rib eye steaks cooked to perfection tender and juicy, as for the liver and bacon the creamy mash served piping hot the lambs liver just melted in the mouth wow wow wow the best lambs liver I have ever had 100% will be ordering this again and again We decided to have an extra portion of the made in house chips they were piping hot crunchy and fantastic then on to the desserts I'm so glad I did the I went for the dark chocolate sorbet oh my days it was like heaven on earth..As someone once said "I'll be back" Carry on the excellent work fantastic experience all round. the new owners and team know what they are doing bring the Beverlie back to life

Popped into today after hearing that there's a change of management and a whole new team at the Beverlie. I glad that I made this decision. What a turn round with the food all fresh and cooked to order. I had the liver and bacon with creamy mash potato a wonderful rich gravy with a lovely twist of it topped with home made parsnip crisps, my dinning partner went for the steak and kidney pudding must have been excellent as she didn't say anything for 15 mins (may order this again for her... 😉) all the staff were friendly served us with a smile 10/10 service as for the food excellent another 10/10 will definitely going back again very soon to try the Sunday Roast. Keep up the good work well done to all at the Beverlie

The staff were welcoming and warm but that was the only positive of this pub. The tables were all sticky, and the garden unkempt with cigarette butts everywhere. The lawn was not mowed and there were overgrown beds. It wasn't a space we were happy to sit in so moved inside on one of the sunny afternoons which felt disappointing. There was no toilet roll and the toilets were dirty. The food was average/poor and glasses dirty.

I just went for a drink in the garden here which was nice and peaceful, no kids playground here. It has a high walled very old feel to it and so you felt like you were sitting in a village pub surrounded by very old buildings rather than on the edge of a 1970s housing estate. A place of peace and tranquility in a busy city. Very good service and I saw that the sandwiches come with fries so a good meal if you have a big appetite.

Visited very early evening for a pre gig meal, the pub is handy for the Gulbenkian Theatre just up the road. Menu offers typical pub food with a few more elaborate dishes (eg wild boar raviolini). Nice decor, welcoming staff. We settled on traditional fare, Haddock and Chips, and Ham,Egg and Chips. Both were good, large portions, tasty food, nothing special but just what we expected. Service was friendly. For dessert we had the Eton Mess, and a Lemon Tart, both of which were again tasty. Pleasant atmosphere, decent food, we will return next time we attend a gig nearby.

Visited here on 10/03/2024 (Mother’s Day). Had a long wait for food which is fine as they were busy. Food was ok, but the beef was bloody…and tough not pleasant. Then had to wait 25 mins while the pudding was actually being made! Watch your bill as they tried to charge us an extra £12.00 for drinks they knew we had not had. They need to sort their interior doors as every time somebody came in it would slam against the door adjacent and stick. Another family had to keep getting up to sort it out as they were cold. We will not be going back! On a good note, the waitresses were very pleasant.

I came in for a coffee, ordered an americano which turned out to be granulated cheap stuff. I was charged £2:20. Ordered a chicken bacon club bloomer, bread was basic toast bread, not a fresh bloomer, small handful of fries. £11:50. Feel ripped off, won't be coming again. Think if the quality of products are reduced so should the price. I am a local and like the Bev when you are able to get a drink. What I don't understand is that all the front tables are reserved for meals and when asking the staff where can you sit for a quiet drink they say "plenty of room in the back restaurant area". Surely the restaurant area could be set aside for reservations and the front bit remain for those who want a drink or three??

The pub was quiet inside but busy In the garden as it was a nice afternoon. The starter was excellent. My main was meant to be steak chips and watercress salad, I ended up with rocket instead of the salad which was a little disappointing. The chips were really good. The desert was ok, the pavlova had almost no meringue and the cheeseboard was the most disappointing, being very small, having some old shriveled grapes for £12 and 5 small biscuits and a tiny portion of cheese. The staff attended us well. You have to pay at the bar before you get the food leaving you no recourse. Stick with the starter and mains.

Went for lunch. Lovely pub in a great setting with the bonus of a large sunny garden. Very friendly welcoming staff too. But the food was a real let down. Both meals had obviously been microwaved. The seafood spaghetti had shell in it making it gritty. The pie top was so hard and overbaked the only way to eat the pie was to turn it upside down. The inside of the pie lid was black! Very disappointing food at the Bev. A number of items on the menu were not available, which is ok, sometimes these things happen. But the food we did order was incomplete, only containing about a third of the components listed from the menu, which the staff didn’t make us aware of. The staff weren’t especially interested in the quality of the food they were serving up, nor apologetic that they had knowingly served us incomplete dishes. When queried, the response was that they didn’t have the ingredients. The treacle toffee pudding was rock solid that it was inedible and the waffle dish was a shop bought waffle with two scoops of ice cream. Although a partial refund was offered at the end, it would have been better if they had just been upfront at the point of ordering about what we could have expected from the dishes we had ordered.

Possibly the worst meal out I have ever had. Went in for a family birthday meal, there was 7 of us and the menus online suggested a good variety. The roast menu online is not what you are served. It boasted lamb or beef, braised red cabbage, mash and cauliflower cheese. Instead it was beef or pork with a oily parsnips and carrot that are barely roasted and cabbage mixed with peas. However, this was not the worst if it. We all had starters, the salt and vinegar chicken wings resembled a kebab shop end of the night wing, the type that was reheated many times. The calamari was undercooked, I had given half to my partner.. everyone that has eaten the calamari have had an upset stomach since. The steak was ok - except the menu again, doesn’t reflect what you ate served. My partner had the butchers burger, except the chef forgot the salt beef so that was served later in the meal. That was dry, as was the childrens burger. The childrens burger was in an adult bun, with a tiny burger inside, so dry it was inedible. Then the puddings, they were star of the show however, again, the menu didn’t reflect what you are served. That boasted clotted cream ice cream, toasted hazelnuts, fresh raspberry’s and a shortbread crumb. It was a brownie with white chocolate chunks on and vanilla ice cream. Service was slow but ok, I appreciated it was busy, but even the most impeccable service could not make up for the worst food ever. It’s not exactly cheap either, the steak was £20, the burger was £16 and the dried up chicken wings were £7!!!! Unfortunately it’s not what it used to, it’s gone from lovely food many years ago, to food that doesn’t even really compete with whetherspoons. Such a shame.

It is a lovely old pub with friendly staff, and good food. It is also dog friendly, hence why it deserves a higher rating. The only reason why I rated it a 4 rather than 5 is due to, two criticisms, it's food menu could be more varied, and there was no non-dairy milk option for tea and coffee.

Ye Olde Beverlie served as the clubhouse for one of the first proper cricket clubs in England. Teams from Kent dominated cricket between 1830 and 1850. The Beverley Cricket Club was formed in 1835 and played on Beverley Meadow, owned by the brothers John and William Baker. The nearby Ye Olde Beverlie Inn served as their clubhouse. In 1839 the club held their first Cricket Week which drew 4,000 spectators.

The staff and the environment were nice but the food was appalling. I ordered a chicken salad at a normal price of £11.95, not especially cheap. Couldn’t believe my eyes when it finally arrived. The portion of the salad was unbelievably small, with only a few leaves of rockets. This portion of vegetables is less than a side dish. Are vegetables that expensive? Why can't they serve a decent size of food to customers? Talking about the chicken, the meat was so dry and stringy that I had to stop after a few bites. My husband’s fish and chips was not much better. The batter was very oily and he said that’s the worst he’d ever eaten in Canterbury. When such quality of food is served, plus very slow service, no wonder there are barely any other customers even at lunch hours.

One of the cosiest traditional pubs I've visited in Canterbury. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and attentive. I absolutely adored the interior decor. I was really fascinated to try Mexican food in a pub and the menu looked really good but unfortunately the food was an OK experience. I ordered the chicken tinga enchilada and the tomato sauce used was way too sweet for the dish (I think the sauce was shop-bought like Dolmio) and the cheese tasted very cheap. If the ingredients were better, I'm no doubt sure this dish would have tasted amazing. My sister really liked her squid starter. My partner ordered the sizzling steak faijita which allowed him to build his own tortillas and it looked really good. I would visit this pub again and try another dish or just have drinks because the service was really good.

I said oh I’m gutted, I drove up today to eat here but ordered drinks anyways and made my way back to the table. 5 minutes later the manager (I presumed he was!) arrived at the table with a plate of loaded fries - the gesture was thoughtful and well received (as I was starving!) he again apologies but the effort he went to was just lovely. A pub with a super good vibe going on. The music is never loud and always seems to have a good tune playing. It's very clean as can be, as far as pubs go and the staff are all smiles, helpful and attentive. The best thing about this pub will have to be the chiefs and the food they turn out. Honestly, the food is top class. Even a classic pub burger tastes like it's out of an very good restaurant. They've never failed to impress me with the food every time I've gone there. It's also child friendly and has a good quiet eating area for families if you don't want to eat in the main pub section. I had a great experience at The Old Weavers Restaurant in Canterbury. The duck and apricot pie I ordered was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The service was amazing too. Tarnie, our waitress, was so friendly and helpful. She even recommended some great places to visit in town while I was here. Definitely a place I’d visit again!
