I’ve been coming here for years but today was the last day I would set foot in this restaurant. The level of rudeness was unbelievable. The food also went down in terms of quality. When I asked for the bill, they tried to overcharge me. I had to ask them to check (something I would never do normally but the bill came to £150 when it was just me and my 8 year-old daughter). They admitted it was wrong but then something was wrong with the till. They had to call “the boss” who came in and was extremely rude. He gave the bill with added service charge when I had to correct the bill and wait for a long time to pay. He then waved a £50 note at me saying “here, you take this and go get some coffee for yourself”. I could not believe how insulting and rude he was. I would avoid this place like a plague. Clearly, they have zero service mind and should never be in this business.

Overprice for what it is was. Poorly rolled sushi. Super unhygienic. Sushi chef was preparing sushi on the spot without gloves (which I can understand) however reached into his pockets to grab his phone and earpiece to make call and having made the call, proceeded to putting the phone and earbuds back into his pockets without washing his hands and went back to handling the sushi. Make a remark to the waitress. No apology given. She must have seen it so many times that it’s a norm to them.

Tried this restaurant with some friends and their kids who were visiting from abroad. Small place with room for about 12 diners at a time. The sushi was freshly made there and melt in your mouth good! Some items were not available as they had sold out already that day but we were still able to taste a variety of items. Bit pricey but I’d return!

Can’t speak from experience of actually eating here because on just trying to book a table to use a gift voucher I’d been given for this restaurant they were so so rude to me on the phone And hung up on me several times for no reason. I told them I had been the voucher as a gift and it was expiring in March and his response was “not my problem is it” So I now would never go here and have asked for a refund on my voucher

We walked by and saw this small place and walked in. They only have room for 12 people. When we walked in there were only 2 people and after us it filled up in minutes. There is a chef who prepares the shushi. The sushi goes round the table and you take what you want off. There are 4 different colored plates , each one a different price. We had the freshest , best sushi I have ever eaten. We had Japanese tea that they refilled as many times as you want. All together we paid for 7 dishes and 2 tea £35. It was worth every penny. Will definitely return here again.

This is a small restaurant with limited seating at the sushi counter, and was relatively empty for a weekday lunch. As someone else mentioned, pretty much all the plates are at the most expensive price (£4) and there is a limited selection circling the counter. You can order from the menu though and the chef will make it the dish fresh if it's not available on the counter. I only recall seeing one dish (salmon nigiri) at one of the lowest price points. Some of the dishes are questionable. There seems to be spicy sauce added to most things, even to unagi temaki aka eel handroll, although this is almost forgiven as the chef weakened my resolve by blow-torching the eel, for which I'm a sucker. I'm still not sure that a salmon and avocado roll needs additional truffle added, as much as I love truffle.

We went in and said we had a tastecard before we sat down, when we were paying the staff said we needed to have booked if we were using a tastecard. Then the chef even went as far to say people who booked with a discount were not classy. He was arguing with us over £15. We just paid and left. It was empty when we went on a Saturday, understandably. Very odd place.

Food was ok. However was really unimpressed with the service and the attitude of the staff. Despite there being only one other customer there, we had to beg to get served. Also no menu, or explanation as to what was on the conveyor belt - I'm vegetarian so this would have been helpful. Bill was brought to us without us asking for it, and despite the fact that the place was not full and no one was waiting for our seats. We were slapped with a big non optional service charge. Yazu sushi should be avoided, they aren't bothered about their service, their food, or their customers.Yazu offers 5 different priced plates, but 95% of the food going round is the most expensive plate, £4. Bearing in mind these plates are tiny, only 2 pieces of sushi, your meal will easily run into £20-30 per head. For a little Japanese cafe in an informal setting this is silly. On top of that, on any given there will be maybe 3 different things going round. That's it. You will spend your meal watching plates and plates of the exact same thing going round and round again. What you get depends on when you go, but they never have any sense of a good selection. The last time I visited we just popped in as we work nearby, and the fact we were able to use our tastecard made it worthwhile. £2 a plate isn't too bad at all. Despite not having booked as per the tastecard rules (I have never heard of anywhere enforcing this particularly awkward rule before) they had no issues.Today was not the same. I was again disappointed with the lack of selection, and ended up having 3 of the same plate. This time, however, we were told we couldn't use the tastecard as we hadn't booked. I apologised and said I didn't realise and would book in future, but the staff become rude. The chef started shouting and saying we should be ashamed of ourselves. There was absolutely no regard for customer service. He said he had hundreds of customers and didn't care about my business.I am still a little shocked from this experience. As you can see from my reviews I eat in a lot of restaurants and am not difficult at all. Yazu could have chosen to accept the tastecard (as they did last time) and I may have given them another chance (although the limited selection really is off-putting). They would rather charge an extra £20 today and lose customers forever.Perhaps they realise that what they offer doesn't result in a lot of repeat business. Perhaps they are used to seeing people once and never again. It wouldn't surprise me at all. With so many better options in the area, there is no reason to visit Yazu Sushi at all. Even going to Itzu on Berkeley square you'd get better sushi, more choice and it would be a fraction of the price.

A small sushi conveyor in a tiny room. The idea is nice, but (1) the chef constantly plays on his laptop and then goes and cut fish without washing hands; (2) many of the sushis are pre-made and stored, and then put on the conveyor when needed. If I go to a conveyor, it is to have freshly made sushi. (3) the prices are relatively high for the quality of what you get; (4) any request for a specific sushi seems to bother him, and he will show it explicitly.

I visited this restaurant with my husband and friend on Saturday. This is NOT a Japanese restaurant! Do not be misguided by their fancy, nice looking website....the place is nothing like it!! The place is tiny and they only have 3 types of rolls on the belt conveyor and if you try to order something else on a la carte menu, then the chef starts to moan it is only for take away and all the nonsence. What was more shocking was that the chefs were intoxicated with alcohol! Head Chef was talking to his friends by the corner of the restaurant very loudly, not paying attention to customers or what was going on behind the counter. The chef working behind the counter was also drunk and shouted from time to time for no reason and occasionally swore.... When we ordered some nigiri, he was literally not capable of making any sushi. He dropped his knives like 5 times on the floor. I asked the waitress to tell the Chef to stop making sushi for us as I did not want to eat raw fish prepared by a drunk chef. And the Chef's reply was "Oh that's good" ?!?!?!?!!!!! We could not believe how awful the experience was. THIS IS NO DOUBT THE WORST!!! We also saw another customer leaving angrily. We just paid whatever we had (mostly drinks) and left fuming. By the time we were leaving, the Chef was ON THE FLOOR! I must add the waitress was very apologetic and lovely, and felt sorry for her. She was the only staff who was sober!I never felt so disrespected in the restaurant. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Please do not make the same mistake as I did.

I fancied Japanese and this was close to my hotel - wish I had checked reviews first. I ordered deluxe sashimi plus some rice, which was small and came to a steep £16.50 but this is Mayfair.... I watched the conveyor belt while I waited and was a little concerned as there seemed little choice and the fish was mostly rather dull and limp looking. After the two minute walk to my room I found the takeaway bag awash with soy sauce - so presumably you have to carry it at a certain angle in order not to spill whatever it was that spilt. Everything was soggy and permeated by wasabi. The ginger seemed stale and desiccated (though bathed in soy) I like wasabi but more as a highlight than as a wash! Glad I had the rice as the sashimi really wasn't very nice. So sad as i was looking forward to some tuna especially.

We were craving for sushi for when we arrived in London, hoping there should be plenty of decent one around but a few we found with really good reviews was closed or won't open till late, and we didn't want to have yo!sushi as it's nationwide and we would like to try somewhere new. So we found this place, the reviews from tastecard was good, so we thought OK let's give it a try. We ring up around 4.30pm and wanting to book a table for two, they said it was fully book between the time we wanting so they said either 6 or 8 PM is the only available time, so we picked 6pm as we were quite hungry at that time, when we confirmed with the waitress/receptionist, she added before we hang up "please come on time". In the first instance, I thought that sounded a little rude, never ever in my life I have ring up for a reservation and been told to be there on time, so I thought OK maybe they are really busy, so we were there at 5.45pm, THERE WAS NO ONE IN THERE, so we went in anyway, long story short. we were seated, asked for menu, no menu available only the "specials" that is on the board. None of the cheap plate was on the belt until about 10 minutes later we were sat down, the cover were all removed (don't they usually have it with cover on for hygiene? I wouldn't even want to eat there if there were a lot of people if the cover is on!) Most of the thing on the belt was california roll that look almost identical, except different colours. We have some aburi sushi, but the rice is so little! is almost half of what you usually get in other sushi places. I was so shocked, shortly after about 10 plates we just left. I read the google reviews after we left the place, apparently the sashimi was really good, but after trying those sushi, the value for money doesn't seem to be very good. Food was nice, it was just the fact that I think it was a little over-priced. As for maki, they come in three pieces per plate, as far as I can remember my experience with maki from sushi bar, they either come in 4 or 6 pieces. Chair was also very uncomfortable. The wasabi also wasn't available from the belt of the table, and before you started eating anything they only give you tiny bit of it on the plate. If I have read the google more general reviews (not from tastecard website) I wouldn't have visited it.

Visited with a friend yesterday and the restaurant was quiet - fine by me as it gave us free reign on the food on offer.Food was generally good but there were a few rolls that were poorly wrapped and fell apart. Otherwise, the food was flavoursome and fresh.

Excellent sushi! Great value if you have a discount card. The atmosphere is very busy but as long as you are not looking for a romantic ambience, this is well worth a try.

I went to Yazu Sushi with a frined on a Saturday night and it was very quiet. The chef was great as he can make any dishes not on the conveyor belt or even on the menu. Service was excellent as the waitress got what we wanted straight away. The Kimichi salad and Tuna sashimi was fresh and delicious. I recommend the Scallops sashmi as well as the Yaki-tori.

The first impression was already bad. The exposed food looked unappetizing and extremely overpriced: £4,00 for two makimono pieces ( lots of rice, big chunk of avocado and a piece of fish) or 3 very thin sashimis. It was really hard to choose our food, but we finally ordered 4 plates of salmon sashimi with the waitress. 30 seconds after that, the chef came to us asking what did we wanted in a very rude way. As I replied I had just ordered sashimis, he raised his voice saying that I had to choose the fish, or he couldn't do it. When I asked if he could make us a temaki without avocado, again he very rispid said he had cucumber for us, we just had to choose the fish. The food was as good as the sashimi one can buy at Tesco, but the worst of all was the treatment we received from the chef. And it took more than 5 minutes for the waitress to look at us so I could ask for the bill and leave - this consedering the restaurant fits 10 people... That's a place to be avoided!

I'm writing this review having visited using a tastecard with 50% off, like everyone else it seems. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much going off reviews (a lot of bad ones seem to be down to the groupon voucher process, so irrelevant actually), but I was pleasantly surprised. As others have said, it's a very small, conveyor belt style sushi restaurant. There were different colour plates, but these were mostly the most expensive at £4 each (so £2 on tastecard), with a few £3.40 (£1.70 on TC) - the more interesting rolls - plus some nigiri at £2.20 (£1.10 TC - bargain). 2 pieces on each plate, 3 for sashimi (quite small bits mind). There were some rather sad looking salads and boring maki I didn't touch so can't comment on those, but what I did have was yummy indeed. It was mostly salmon or prawn tempura but there was some tuna coming round occasionally and a scalop sashimi and I think you could order specials off a menu, but I only saw someone else do this. The variety wasn't amazing, and at one or two points clearly nobody in the restaurant was interested in what was on the conveyor so nothing new was added. Awks. It was basicaly a game of chicken to see who'd take the plunge and take a plate for the greater good.Anyway, I had 11 plates in total and this plus a soft drink cost me about £20. I was really going after that cheap, cheap nigiri though, so this kept my cost down. I would say this is a very good choice on tastecard, but if you are paying full price you will not be impressed. I'll give this 3 stars because its just below other slightly more polished sushi places, which are in turn below sushi fine dining.I'll be back!

Thanks to our Tastecard, we received 50% off the total food bill. The waiter was friendly, but should have paid more attention to the stock of soy sauce and pickled ginger on the table (we ran out). There wasn't much variety, but the quality was standard. The kimchi looked like it had seen better days, but generally the fish was fine. I did however see the chef take out a plate of rolls out of a cupboard to slice before placing them on the conveyor belt. I understand the restaurant was small, but I expected sushi to be really made to order- especially considering the restaurant was not busy at all.Priced by colour-coded plates, I noticed that there were none of the cheapest plate (green), but many of the most expensive (black) instead. There are only two pieces of sushi per plate, so the cost adds up quickly.Relatively good deal with the Tastecard (we all know how expensive sushi is in London) but there's much room for improvement.

We booked a place for 2. The website suggested it was very nice and the menu seemed interesting. Once we arrived, the place was tiny. The seats were limited and very uncomfortable. There were NO menus! If I wanted to read ingredients and food info, I couldn't. "Ask me any questions" the waiter said. Ha...The food was good and 50% off so I can't complain for price. However, the choice was very bad. And the cheapest options were the veggie options. The waiter told us that they don't display veggie sushi as they get vegeterians very rarely. That felt very greedy to me as 1) Vegeterians aren't the onle people who like vegetables 2) very convenient way of charging for the most expensive options with 50% discount to almost make us feel "embarassed" to ask for the cheaper option. The sushi itself was delicious although I tried the salad and was disguisting. If there was a menu that explained what that salad contained, I wouldn't have bought it. Note to management: Have a menu, make vegeterian options irrespective of visitors and if you notice that your customers have barely touched a plate, maybe you should ask why.

Found this place on Tastecard and phoned up half an hour prior to arrival. The restaurant is tiny, only seats about 12 people. We visited 8pm on a Saturday night, there were other diners but the selection on the conveyor belt was really poor. 8 plates of the same thing, mostly black plates, and the sushi was tiny. The salmon nigiri was the tiniest piece I have ever witnessed, the salmon was so thin and the rice was barely there. The chef wasn't preparing anything new, but even when he did only 2 plates came out, and they looked no different to what was already available! We left after only 4 plates each, which came to £18 including green tea. Even with the Tastecard discount, it really wasn't worth it. Will not be coming back, there are far better places for sushi.

Hidden away, very low key, 10 places around a conveyor belt. Super fresh - all made in front of you by the chef. Very good quality, eaten there more than a dozen times, and never had an issue. Proprietor / chef Gana Damdinjamts is Mongolian, and very lively, friendly and chatty Don't expect typical Japanese. AND willing to do personal one off orders that are not on the menu.

The food is just ok. But choice very limited. However the reason I am leaving a review is because of the very unpleasant experience I had today, and I thought it would be worth to share with others that use a tastecard. I have been to this restaurant a dozen of times in the last few months. I go there alone, I go there with clients and I go there with friends, as my office is just round the corner. Most of the time I go there I use my taste card. However today I got a blast from a Lady that looked a bit like the owner/manager saying "You must book a table if you decide to use the tastecard". I explained that I am a very frequent customer and this is the first time I was advised of this. Not a problem, and I will book in advance, but the lady there was so rude, that I could see the other customers cringing their teeth it was such an unpleasant atmosphere. She really didn’t have to say anything else apart from “please book next time, and thank you for your business” It was such a shocking experience, that I was speechless for about 30 minutes.Because of the great discount, I always leave a very generous tip, however today there was no tip. Would love to go there again soon, but I don't think I will be going in if this unpleasant person serving me is going to be there.

Booked this through the gourmet society so it was half price. The conveyor is about 2 meters long so not much space for a wide selection. All plates are the expensive colour which is £4 plate (/2 as it's through gourmet society). The food was good quality but very little variety. Staff were not attentive and refilled tea was empty.

I booked this restaurant via the Tastecard website, since a friend and I had to travel to Victoria together. We both love sushi, so were very excited to be able to get it with 50% off! The menu boasted of 39 items to choose from. When we arrived, we were not presented with the menu, and had to pick from the limited choice of sushi that was on the conveyor - we probably had 10 things out of a total of 15. The service was slow and sour - neither the waiter nor the chef offered us anything, and simply didn't look like it was worth their time being there. Our bill came to £32 including a glass of plum wine each, meaning that the sushi only cost £19, but I would have been loathe to pay the full price for it. Certainly won't be going back.

This place is easy to miss, as it tucked away down an alleyway, but once we'd found it, my friend and I had a great lunch. I used my gourmet card (50% off) so we had a decent meal for £13 each. My only criticism is the service - the staff are actually very friendly and helpful, but the layout of the place makes it difficult to communicate with them, and they don't really come round to ask you if you want anything. Despite that though, I had a tasty lunch, and I'd definitely come back.

Yazu are one of my favourite places in London to have sushi. On my first visit I was a little put off by the small size of the venue but the food was impeccable - incredibly fresh and perfectly made, the chef clearly takes pride in what he does. Whenever I come back I am not disappointed, the sushi is absolutely perfect in my view. It is a little on the pricy side however (it is a differently priced plates system, with the tastiest ones being most expensive), so it has been a rare treat but very enjoyable. I've had no problems with reservations, but there are only about 10 seats and the place gets busy so I wouldn't risk turning up without a booking.

We went here pre-theatre with our Gourmet Card. We were the only two diners but we had the full attention of all three staff, particularly the chef, who made fresh sushi for us, despite the conveyor belt being full. It was all very, very good. It is not the kind of place to go for an intimate dinner, more something before the theatre, or for lunch.

I took my cousin here for an after work dinner/catch up. Lovely to eat in such an intimate atmosphere, there must be around 10-12 seats around a sushi belt, which was loaded with delicious sushi rolls and sashimi. The seaweed salad was great, as was the salmon sashimi, so fresh and great selection. Would recommend for a casual dinner.

Myself and 2 others went here for a quick bite to eat on a Tuesday night. We didn't have to wait long for a table. The conveyor belt ONLY had the expensive plates - none of the less expensive plates which only cost a couple of pounds. So did mean the cost soon stacked up.I had a glass of house white wine which was ghastly - I asked for ice. None. So ended up watering it down with water which still didn't make it any more palatable! The sushi was nice, but nothing extraordinary. One even had truffle in which was a bit weird when not expecting it!I would go back if I am back in the area and need a quick feed but wouldn't go back to the area especially to go here

was surprise of the location right in Mayfair between of some nice Italian restaurants & bars, only 5-8mins walk from Green park station. Very tiny place with not more than 14-16 seats at the sushi bar & a little cosy or too close to next person to have a good conversation but we were there early so no one else but us. sushi & sashimi we ordered were very fresh & delicous with a good selection & the sake was hot & nice too. We enjoyed the foods very much & would recommend this little place for fresh sushi.

I have a tastecard so found this through the tastecard website. It is in the tiniest little side street in Mayfair and originally when we saw it we were unsure but the staff were lovely and the sushi was beautiful! They continued to add fresh sushi the whole time we were there and they were very accommodating to my Vegan friend, making her fresh rolls every time she asked. There wasn't the largest choice but what they did have was delicious and fresh. With a tastecard you get 50% off all dishes which is incredible. We ate £60 worth of sushi for £30!!Would definitely recommend, but probably book as its teeny tiny inside!!

I enjoyed the food and the service was fine but value for money it isn't. The food was pretty good but not remarkable. Smaller plates are quite well priced but larger dishes are very expensive as is the Sake. The larger choices are in fact small as are the servings of Sake for the price and you have to pay extra for ginger! I quite enjoyed my experience so wouldn't say don't go but I will not return. When I got the bill I was surprised at the total and feel I could have a much better meal elsewhere for a lower or similar price.
