Yatton Tandoori in North Somerset

A lovely meal at Imperial Spice. We were stuck in Yatton for a few hours due to traffic and we're really pleased we chose to eat here! All our food was delicious - 2 chicken tikka curries, lamb biryani, peshwari nan, and rice plus drinks. The service was great and it was very comfortable inside the restaurant. A gem, we'll be coming back next time we are travelling through Yatton. Also, loved the chocolates they gave us at the end - orange & mint, my new favourite!

Now trading as Imperial Spice, this is a revelation! Local Indian restaurants will need to up their game to compete. The decor is splendid, all of the staff on duty were friendly, attentive and very well presented. The food was delicious, well spiced and reasonably priced. We went on a Banquet Night and received a first class service throughout.

Yatton Tandoori has been extensively refurbished and is now called Imperial Spice. It has three floors, all different in character, and a lovely atmosphere. Service was really good from very well dressed staff in uniform and the food was excellent and reasonably priced.

Good to be back after the refurbishment. Lovely food, relaxing atmosphere. The beer needs to be colder; we would drink a lot more 👍😂

Very nice and polite host and good food. Didn’t get what I ordered for a starter due to, I guess, a language barrier, but it was still very nice. A good venue that I would happily visit again

This restaurant is fantastic. Worth driving to savour the delicious food. The service and attention was 100% If you like spicy Eastern food it is worth travelling here. Over from Australia we found this restaurant was the BEST food of our trip. I can see why the villagers rate this food.

Very good and tasty meal again tonight. Very happy to keep coming to this excellent little restaurant. It is on the small side and it can get quite busy but the standard of the food is always consistently high.

Disappointing. Not much chicken in the curry and the mixed kebab starter was like warm and minimalistic - not much meat! All in all this place is not what it used to be! The area needs some competition because this place has been resting on its laurels for far too long. Won’t be bothering again.

Having been given the wrong order on Saturday night my husband returned the following day to be greeted by the gentleman knowing exactly what had happened , it transpired that he had tried to run after us when he realised the mistake. What a gracious and efficient service ,the meal was replaced and the usual quality was exceptional. Apologies accepted all round and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Would recommend this establishment highly. Good old fashioned service with a smile.

Booked the restaurant for 25 people for my husbands 60th. It was a wonderful evening, the food & service was brilliant. Thank you so much for making it such a special evening. Highly recommend

Arrived at 9pm and waiter wouldn't serve me food in the restaurant because he was tired! Lazy Lazy! If he was the owner he should be ashamed - if he was the waiter he should be sacked!!! DON'T FILL THESE LAZY BOYS POCKETS WITH YOUR CASH THEY DON'T DESERVE TO BE IN BUSINESS!

Called to enquire if the restaurant did gift vouchers as a gift for a friend. Spoke to the rudest man who constantly spoke over me and would not listen to my request. When I asked if I could please speak, he put the phone down on me. Based on the poor customer service over telephone I would not eat here.

We as a family have been going yatton tandoori for years but our most recent visits has gone down hill from the food to the service. We ordered onion bajhis which was burnt on the out side but uncooked in the middle. Rice dishes was filled with oil which we drained down the sink with no tastes even the same with Saag aloo. We would talk to the waiter but no point because they can't understand anything so best going weston more choices better food for the same price so will give it a miss!!

Food can be a bit hit and Miss - some times lovely and others not so great! A real shame as when it’s good it’s really good and great value! Also check your take out bag before you leave as we have unfortunately had stuff missing a few times.. all that being said - we still visit regularly and will continue to do so!

Ordered a starter and main meal and it came out all at the same time and the starter was'nt what i ordered nor was my partners, and the waiter argued with me and never apologised. It was my birthday he was very rude i will not be returning, which is a shame as the rest of the staff were lovely, and so is the food.

Been here many times but on this occasion I got wrong starters and main all at once and the waiter argued I was wrong shame as other staff lovely and nice food but won’t be returning

Ordered a Keema rice as part of our meal this evening to find the Mince (keema) a rancid green colour which smelt revolting and was clearly off. The manager would not agree that it was off and became quite rude. We were completely put off our meal and only at 2 mouthfuls but they still charged over £40. I have been a regular for the past 18 years but never again will I step foot in here!

We tried this last year and it was mediocre. We gave the benefit of the doubt and tried again this evening. The worst curry have had.

This is an excellent restaurant and a real home from home. The food was the best and I can highly recommend the Bengali Fish Curry. Many grateful thanks to "The Boss" and the team.

Had a very nice meal here. Friendly service and an enjoyable curry. Its only a small place and it was full so a little noisy but everything tasted good and the prices were very reasonable.

Great service but sadly food needs to improve. Soft cold onion bhaji followed by disappointing mains. We had taken advantage of the midweek offer which was enough for six and like the curates egg, was good in parts.

Popped in here a couple of times as we were staying at the hotel nearby and were getting tired of pizza and steak. The restaurant is small but contemporary, with very attentive staff. The food was delicious. Being a lover of Vindaloo I must say the ones that they made for me were absolutely delicious. My wife had Tandoori Chicken. Also delicious. The Saag Aloo was one of the tastiest I have ever had the pleasure of eating. If you’re staying at the Hilton and fancy a tasty change for dinner, be sure to check out this little gem. It’s about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Would definitely come back. Recommended by the Curry Nut.

One of the best Indians I have had in years. Good portion sizes, not greasy, great flavours. Plenty of meat and good quality meat. Really friendly staff and great value. Will definitely be eating from here more often!

After having some work done on our kitchen we needed an emergency last minute takeaway. We ordered the Banquet night takeaway and was ready to collect in half an hour. The food was brilliant, piping hot and full of flavour, the Dhansak was the best I've tasted in ages.Highly recommend and will be returning soon for sure.Get down and support your local takeaway folks......

Ordered at 5 30 collection at 6. FRESH, SUCCULENT, TASTY AND AUTHENTIC. This was my first order tonight and I will definitely be ordering again. No need to go anywhere else! Thanks guys James Bailey

Ordered online for a collection. Ordered the tandoori mix grill for me, a curry for MIL and a half chicken for my partner and 2 rice dishes to share. BIG MISTAKE.So I collected my order and as I was walking to the car noticed that the order seemed a bit light. So I decided to go back to the restaurant and they quickly inspected the contents and counted 5 items, I realised I was being silly and went on my way. Well.. when I got back home when I could check the contents I was shocked. 1 container was the curry, the other 2 said “t mix” so I thought at first they missed the half chicken, although even with the 2 small containers it looked like half the mix grill was missing as it was supposed to be 4 items.So I called the restaurant and they told me that everything was there and that I should come back for the 2nd time sand then hung up on me (They said they were too busy).Furiously I went back but thought I could reason with the manager. How wrong was I. The manager proceeded to try to gas light me into thinking that one of the t mix containers was the half chicken and the other container (which is about the size of a small microwave lasagne) was lamb tika, chicken tika, sheesh kebab and tandoori chicken. When I said that it’s not a mix grill he proceeded to toss the container around revealing only a chicken leg and a load of onions but still maintained that it was the entire mix grill. I quickly pointed out that I wasn’t going to be paying £10 for a mix grill that consists of a piece of chicken and onions. I wish I had taken a picture to show you what I mean as you’re probably reading this thinking that I’m exaggerating but I promise I’m not.The manager huffed in the end and asked me if I wanted the food or not, of course I said I didn’t and then he refunded me. So that was a whole hour wasted for nothing. I know mistakes happen sometimes and perhaps it was busy that day, but why would you pretend that a piece of chicken is an entire mix grill? It was blatantly obvious they missed the half chicken and half of the mix grill. You would have to be insane to eat here.In the end I went to the trusty Yatton Fish bar where they were extremely busy but seemed to somehow manage with not messing the order up.Avoid this place at all costs!

We have visited this restaurant many times and it is always excellent. Food is superb a wonderful choice of dishes, something for everyone. service is excellent. It is normally booked up so reservations on the weekend is advised.

Usually have nothing but good things to say about this place, but tonight we received awful treatment...which is a shame as the food is quite good.Ordered over the phone and worked out our order would be £28 after checking their online prices and with collection we would get the 15% off.When my partner went to collect, he was told it would be £36 and this was with the discount!!! He went through the prices online and was told they are not correct, even though the website is up to date??? The man was very rude and then told the man holding our order to remove one of the beers you get free when you spend over £10...we should have had 2!!!Eventually the man said it would be £29 which my partner agreed to as the food was getting cold and we were hungry. £29 was still more than the prices online with the 15% off!! We will unfortunately not be using Yatton Tandoori again, and will go to the much friendlier and honest Kismet in Congresbury!!!

Discovered Yatton quite by accident four years ago. Moved there the next year and Yatton Tandoori were part of the reason. Absolutely amazing food with a friendly atmosphere, always really enjoy my visits.

Good food and banquet nights are good value. They are happy to tailor your dish to your taste and overall its the best curry in the area.

Not good. Don't go here unless you want to be vomiting and worse for a week. Even found a a chunk of metal in one of our orders.

Recommended by a local and had a very reasonable meal. Tender lamb and particularly notable sag dhall. Thurs was banquet night so I got the last table but as I was on my own they fast tracked my meal for one so both starter and main appeared v quickly. Used for take away too by a lot of locals which must say something

Had meal for my 50 th birthday and travelled to yatton and found this excellent Indian.Food was excellent and staff we brilliant.I can praise them enough.Prices were very good.

We stayed at the Cadbury House Hotel & passed this little restaurant on our walk to Yatton station. After a day out in Bristol we called in our walk back to the hotel. The restaurant is small but inviting & staff were friendly. The menu is extensive & food was delicious. My only criticism would be that the meal seemed rushed. They errr very busy with takeaway orders over the constantly ringing phone & people collecting. It suited us after a long day out & the food was faultless. Feels more of a cafe style rather than a relaxing restaurant.

Had another really good curry here, never had a bad one to be honest, good service as well. Thursday buffet night is really good value as well.

I travel a lot and visit a lot of Indian restaurants and I have to admit that this is a bit of a gold mine, the food is outstanding. I did not give it an excellent as the takeaway bar is in the restaurant which means that you do get disturbed. Good little restaurant though. It is very inexpensive as well.

Absolutely terrible restaurant. Went hear for a birthday meal, waited an hour to be only offered 1 drink and a few poppadoms. The staff asked us to squeeze against the wall so they could make room for the customers collecting takeaway. Was over crowded with takeaway customers and we as sitting in customers were completely neglected. When we asked to have a round of drinks we were told to wait and slow down!!! They desperately need to inploy a delivery driver as it definitely wasn’t a nice experience as they focused all there attention on takeaway. Would not go hear again!!!

As a family we visit this restaurant frequently. Food is always of a high standard and the staff friendly, they even know our childrens names. Would highly reccomend

Not much of a frontage to this very small quality restaurant but clean and tidy inside with a very warm and attentive welcome waiting for you from the staff.

... but I guess that’s to be expected on a Monday evening! My cousin and his daughter fly to Bristol from Madrid twice a year and always stay with me before travelling down to family in Cornwall. They’ve long wanted to try this restaurant (which I’ve visited a few times) but unfortunately the Madrid flight arrives very late in the evening. This visit they returned to stay with me the day before flying home so we decided to go to Yatton Tandoori. Arriving at 8 pm, a few people were finishing their meals but apart from that we were the only diners (and only a few customers came in to collect take-aways).

This is a tiny, storefront type restaurant, obviously popular with the area's residents.Thus reservations are a must. Guests will not be disappointed, as they do serve genuine, very tasty Indian food. Recommended.

The pub had stopped serving at 8pm, so we headed to this Indian restaurant instead. Very glad we did! A very warm welcome, very attentive, great food, a good house red. Very full after, big portions!

Hadn't been here for a few years and am glad to report the food is still good and the service remains friendly. Prices are pretty standard, the food arrived reasonably quickly and the decor and ambiance were nice too. Overall I'd definitely go back, and am not sure why I'd left it so long!

Wow oh wow !! This is one of best Indian I have taste it is beautiful , I had the chicken chatt starter , main I had chicken balith, chicken tikka masala , garlic rice , chips , and 2 sweet nan bread and omg it was literally the best Indian I have ever taste ! It is definitely worth a visit !!

Used to love yatton tandoori and get a takeaway from them every week, we went on Thursday for a sit down meal and got greeted in an unfriendly way, we were shown to a table and got our drinks and poppadoms. as we started to look over the menu, there was a lot of heated shouting coming from the kichen, we tried to continue our evening but it got worse and worse and eventually ended in the chef and one of the waiters having a fist fight at the top of the restaurant. Obviously, we were not happy about this, trying to have a nice meal on a rare night out without our little one, and got up and left. we received no apology or gratitude from any of the members of staff so decided we did not want to eat there that evening! I came home and wrote a facebook status about my experience that evening and we went somewhere else for food. tonight, two evenings later, we called into the indian to order a takeaway. immediately one of the staff raised his hand to us and said "no, we no serve you". Confused and slightly angered, we asked them to explain and they told us we were no longer welcome in their establishment as I had wrote a facebook status that could've harmed their customer base. I explained that my facebook status was nothing but the truth and they got very boulchy with us and asked us to leave. There was no apology again for them ruining our evening on Thursday, and yet a feeling that we were in the wrong. when we asked if we could speak to the manager, we were shrugged off and spoken to very rudely. other customers who were picking up takeaways even said they needed to speak more appropriately. I'm very disappointed in the lack of customer service, gratitude and politeness of yatton tandoori staff, especially to customers who eat there 3/4 times a month. its appalling. tonight we had a takeaway delivered from red rose in Clevedon, who I would highly recommend. I will never spend my money in yatton tandoori again, a shame that they have let themselves down again.

Always a favourite when meeting up with friends the food is good and the service is excellent and very friendly and there always ready to fill your pint glass up so never going go thristy

We are visiting family and went to this lovely Indian restaurant. My husband and I do not very often go for an Indian meal, but we really enjoyed our meals last night. I think we would visit again if we are in the area

Welcomed in with smiles from the waiting staff who quickly took our orders.Place was full as it was banquet night, so glad we pre-booked a table.Staff quick to help the gluten free diner and ensured she did not have anything which was not gluten free.Truly was a banquet of food. Tasty, well cooked and well portioned dishes.Attentive service from happy staff. Will return.

There is nothing super special about the Yatton Tandoori, but it is friendly, clean, good food, fast service and everything is just the way it should be.

Looking forward to a meal at the Tandoori after hearing good things! However four adults were turned (away on a quiet day) as has we had a small child and a pushchair. We were told no they had no highchairs available and pushchairs were not allowed inside. Left feeling very upset after the way we were spoken to. Shame.

Can't fault these guys and on a Wednesday night they have a banquet night it's such good value! Nothing is off the menu for the banquet night and this is our third visit in about 6 months and each visit has been as good! As a Clevedon man, I think we've got 5 Indian Restaurants and we still choose to make the journey to Yatton, so come on Clevedon have a word with yourselves and go and check out your competition because it's very good......

The team at Yatton Tandoori always deliver a friendly and tasty meal. Some of the dishes need a bit more ooompfffh (read spice) but then I'm used to curries in the Bradford region which are outstanding! I recommend the chilli naan bread, their onion Bhaji is good too. Curry wise - I've tried a range - the Madras, Korahi Kebab Patia, Ceylon, Dhansak are all nice and my wife really likes the Sagwala! If you're in the town give it a go! Only downside is they don't do delivery - but seems they don't need to as always busy anyways!

Very good selection- always arrives fast and piping hot. Staff are polite and chatty. Nothing seems to much trouble. We regularly visit this Indian

We had dinner. The staff was very cheerful. He gave us enough time to choose. We ordered 2 vegetarian dishes and naan bread. We enjoyed the meal, although the Palak Panier was very sweet .

Ordered the vindaloo, which is supposed to be the hottest om the menu. Was not hot at all, even though I specified that i liked it spicy. Friendly staff.

Service is definitely just so-so. But all the locals convene there and so it has a nice atmosphere. Very pleasant as everyone acknowledges each other and has a chat. The food is not oily which is a real bonus and it is tasty. If you are looking for a curry- this is great. But not a place for special occasions.

Great value for money. All the standard Indian dishes, plus a few extras. Staff were friendly and attentive. 7 GBP for a main.

This is my local Indian take away, but also happens to have a very quaint restaurant area. The staff are always friendly, and you get a free bottle of beer with a takeaway meal. Very common for me to have a cheeky pint while waiting for my takeaway order to be completed. Well it would be rude not to. :-)

We have used this establishment for a number of years purely on a takeaway basis, but recently had the opportunity to use the restaurant.The service was excellent, and the food was some of the best Indian food we have tasted.

A meal for four was very reasonably priced and tasty and the portions were extremely generous.It was slightly disappointing to have all the people coming to collect their take away meals in the middle of the room which is rather small. However, I would eat there again.

We ate here on the recommendation of my sister in law as she had eaten here many times, the wife and I were not impressed. The pops and pics were fine but the starter and the main courses were bland and tasteless, the service was very friendly but a bit haphazard in fairness they were very busy with takeaways. Overall it was about average so I don't think that we will go back.

Eaten here a few times (takeaway and in house) over the last few months and the quality has steadily declined. Madras and vindaloo with virtually no flavor or spice, cold dishes and items substituted without our knowledge. And to top it all off, today I heard that a family friend lost his iphone in the local shop, only to trace it to the restaurant. It had been stolen by one of the tandoori staff!

Do not go here on a Saturday night. The place is in total chaos and is quite shambolic. I went to get a takeaway that I had pre-ordered and was told it would be 30mins. I turned up and waited another 30mins. There were people standing all over the place whilst those sitting having meal were subjected to people standing right by their tables waiting to also collect their takeaway food. I felt sorry for those people seated trying to have a meal.When I eventually got my order, I got it home and they had missed out one of the dishes that I had ordered. This is not the first time this has happened. A real shame as the food is good but they cannot cope. Go there on a weekday night and you will be ok.

Fantastic Indian food at great prices. A lovely varied menu but if you're in a group it's even better if you let your waiter know how much you want to spend and let them choose for your. Really friendly staff and atmosphere.

Went for a meal on Friday evening. Arrived at 7 and the place was empty. Head man was very friendly, but there were a lot of staff and no customers. Decided to just have a take away. Got 10% discount and a bottle of lager - Didn't ask why, but nice gesture. When I got home I realised the meal wasn't quite as expected ......The tandoori mix grill was a oily gunk of meat and onions and cold. The Bajis were missing, and the biriani was greasy and not really what I expected. The Nan was ok but cold and the veg dishes ok. In all disappointed.

Even though the restaurant was very busy with a large works party and all tables full they coped admirably - and this was only 6pm. Complimentary drinks as they thought we waited a bit long. Service was attentive and nothing too much trouble. Banquet night was good value for money with a good selection. Two young grandsons loved it. Small comfy restaurant and extremely popular for takeaways as well.

Great food another local one for me and it never disappoints. the atmosphere is not very Indian but dont let that put you off.They do takeways as you would expect from an Indian resturant.But great value and great food.

We were staying at the Hilton Cadbury in Yatton unfortunately the hotel rest was full so we decided to venture out locally and we came across the Yatton Tandoori.I wouldn’t profess to being a food critic but having spent a lot of time in India and Indian restaurants around the world I think I can recognise a decent curry house, Well this certainly wasn’t it! Every dish that we ordered tasted the same as the next almost as if the chef was using the same jar of Pataks paste, service was slow and poor would not recommend it.

not traditionally Indian (for example serving dishes like chips and omelette) however food was good, smaller portions than I am used to at an indian restaurant. it was a shame that the service was not great, felt like we were rushed in and out of the door which is not what you want on your birthday meal. Asked the waiter to make a specialised shot which was a b52 (not hard to make just a little baileys, tia maria and contrieu) and waiter said no. average price for an indian.

I've been in yatton tandoori several times and every single time was amazing. I'm having different type of curry everytime I'm here and it's always very good. Delicious food, great service and reasonable prices. Best Indian in this area.

Positives are same food same quality but could be better was our first wedding anniversary and the waiter was really rude instead of what drinks would you like it was what do you want in an attitude with what you get from a teenager

We got a take away from here. Its was ok at best but we were expecting that. I ordered 3 vegetable side dishes.I could not believe my eyes at the size of the portion. They were an insult.Tarka dal. was all of 4 level soup spoons just about Thin watery and bland.. ( I mean just.) Chana masala was 3 modest heaped soupspoons .as was the spinach.£2.60 ish each item. What a rip off. The meat in my main course was I guess no more than 5oz. Lots of sauce But !,! I did get discount and a free beer. I would rather not be ripped off and have what I have paid for than a free beer. So if you buy take away be ware the side dishes are very, very small. I regret I cant say it was a one off. It is the second time but the worst in as many months,

Have often been as part of a group with the ruby team I play for or another group of mates, and every time the staff are friendly, the service is prompt and the food is good. Have also had takeaway in the past as have family / friends, who all say its good too.Recommended!

My family visited Yatton tandoori for Fathers day. The experience wasn't positive from start to the end. Firstly our table was right by the door, and the door was actually swinging in to the table when opened. We also discovered that other customers occupying the other tables were waiting for Take Aways!? We only moved when we asked. Surely as we had booked, you would ask the takeaway customers to make use of the less appealing tables??We were told they were understaffed. Fine, however none of the qualms are because of this. Aftersome time, the drinks were ordered. I received a flat coke which was gratefully replaced. The replacement had fizz but no ice or lemon like the first did.The food took a long time to come out. I ordered a lamb rogan josh and butter chicken. The Rogan josh was quite tasty however the butter chicken was not what I was expecting. It was a thick creamy almondy sauce mixed in seperately with some sliced tandoori chicken. The chicken was hard and the sauce after a few mouthfuls was enough for me to leave it. The Sag Paneer also had this thick creamy almondy tasting sauce. My dad who ordered a chicken (malli?) also tasted of this thick creamy almond flavoured sauce. Are they using bought in sauces?!My experiences with other restaurants is the Butter Chicken has creamy savoury flavour with tandoory chicken on the bone, rather than a sweet flavour - same with the sag paneer. The nan was dry with no ghee. I visit a lot of indian restaurants and this unfortunately did not hit the mark. The only positive was that the waiter was helpful and polite and the food is cheap, however 'you get what you pay for' seems a reasonable evaluation of our food. Maybe there are tastier dishes on the menu that arent sweet and almondy, but I wont be returning to find out.

Great food and service at a very good price. I tend to get a takeaway from here about every two months and have never been disappointed. Eating in the restaurant is also enjoyable.

Village location, massive selection on the menu. Everything I had well cooked and sensibly priced. Would not hesitate to go again.

Lovely little restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. A lovely atmosphere prevails and the food is delicious.Will go there again when the occasion arises as we live just down the road.

In the centre of Yattin village you may easily miss this great Indian restaurant.Great food, great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff so polite I have no hesitation in recommending you visit great place if a little on the small side booking is probably a good idea.

We use Yatton Tandoori regularly and have always had great service and good food. We generally have take-away as it is a little small inside but this is not a criticism.

There was a large group of us that had booked this table. We were squashed (14) of us. Which made eating feel like we were sat in a shoe box. However the food was fantastic, not swimming in fat and the staff were friendly. The only thing I would say that was annoying was the glade airfreshner that was on a shelf high up by us. Every now and then I smelt the over impowering smell off chemical freshener.I'd rather just smell the fantastic food. Will go again but within a smaller group. Make sure you reserve a table as it is a very small restraunt and it's so small that you feel your being watched by those who are collecting their takeaways. If you don't mind that and you like good food and good service then this is for you.

We used to get takeaways from Yatton Tandoori fairly regularly, but stopped about 5 years ago when the food started to get really greasy. Staff were always really friendly. We decided to give it another try recently and were thoroughly impressed. Staff were as friendly as they always were, but the food was miles better. Tasting fresher, cleaner and just vastly improved. We've been back a few times since, and its been constantly good every time. Will always be a smallish, cosy interior, but apart from that, a really nice meal out

It was filling and fast service, but a bit bland for my liking and I've eaten a lot of Indian food (and have the waistline to prove it!). I doubt I'd go back, but then wouldn't refuse to revisit if there wasn't any alternative.

Never had a bad meal, used takeaway & eat in. Good amount of menu options, friendly staff. Portion size is good too.

Another great take away. On a Monday & Thursday the restaurant does a banquet 1 starter, 1 main, 1 side, rice or nam for £10.95 - this is also available as a take away. Great value, great food.
