All of the food we wanted was unavailable….. the alternatives were more expensive ….. uuummmm we all felt it was purposful. Never go again

Nice pub shame about the manners of the staff. A friend asked to swap his beer as they poured a premium lager into a normal glass so the lager went flat straight away. He was questioned on this although it was obvious why he wanted to swap it. Female member of staff didn’t have a please or thank you all the time we were there. Pretty much a basic need for front of house should surely be good manners!

Great lunch here. Came with friends before a theatre trip. Great atmosphere - Great pint. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Will be back

Formerly the 3 Rivers. A Stonegate pub which is more of a Sports Bar as if Cardiff needed any more. Real ale, decent wine and average food. Gets busy on weekends.Tends to be poorly cleaned by the evening. Quite likely bits of food food on the floor or uncleared tables. Toilets also likely to be uncleaned. Could so easily be 4 or 5 stars with more attention to detail.

Glad to see Real Ale back on the pumps!

Had a wonderful experience here. The bar staff are always happy to help and offer expertise on unfamiliar beverages. Cannot wait to organise my next night out!

Dropped in with our daughter on saturday the27 th jan And enjoyed a very well cooked meal service so good and atmosphere was buzzing ( I since understand people were having a drink before going to local theatre The two outstanding members of staff being Ian and Callum a credit to their employers

Like a upmarket Wetherspoons. Watch out for the meals with drinks deals, they only include soft drinks and you have to pay extra for alcoholic. Food good value for money, staff friendly and helpful.

Came to watch the footie and decided to have a mixed grill. Was soo pretty looking, I almost didn't want to eat it. Much better than I was expecting. Will definitely be back again.

Staff were great. But food was awful. Definitely microwave meals. The lasagna was awful. Served lovely by wonderful staff. Hot and cold In places..shame. I couldn't eat it.

Watched football, staff great, unfortunately didn't have food we wanted, no steaks, no all day breakfast, no salads so ended up with just chips with sauce, had to go elsewhere for main meal.

Stopped off on the way to the New Theatre for a drink and ended up having a sharer platter. It was reasonably priced, a good quantity and very nice tasting. Place was quiet but was a Monday early evening.

We are here at lunchtime on a Sunday. Same as any other "wetherspooney" place. Good value. Fed well. Sticky menus & floor which you come to spect in these places. We had a drink each with our food - three adult dishes and drinks £30 and we will be fed all day tbh. No much to note. Staff was friendly and it wasn't busy so it suited us fine. We brought our own colouring in/activity booklet and everyone was happy!

First time here. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We were delighted with the drinks, food and service. 5 stars!!! Shout out to Rhys and Jasmine. A credit to Yates.

My nephew and I came for food before heading down to Cardiff to watch the football. Ffion, Keeley and all the staff were very attentive throughout the vist, ensuring the food was good and that neither of us had any allergies prior to us ordering. Even though it was a busy shift nothing was too much trouble for them. Highly recommended place to visit for food and drinks.

I often come here for a quick pint after work, and within a week they already remember what I'm drinking..the staff is so friendly and welcoming, there's one guy there in particular, who goes above and beyond, think he's the owner or manger, he's got a heart of gold. nothing is too much trouble, and the food have always Been spot on. Keep doing what your doing guys your doing a fab job. I'm definitely a returning customer. You will not be disappointed

It’s probably a very different experience if your with a group but as a single I felt uncomfortable and very unwelcome. Lots of others were invited in but unfortunately as a single I’d go elsewhere which is what I did

So it seems they stop serving food when they feel like. Website says food until 8 got to bar at 7 to be told kitchen had closed. Joke!!

Very loud on a Saturday night, called in for drinks and food before theatre. Food selection was great and we had the 5 starter share meals, scampi was a bit mushy texture, although the taste was ok. No katsu chips, so had hunters chips which were fine. Potatoes skins are fab. No bombay sapphire, but Gordon's OK. No cola on pump as they were faulty, but poured from large bottles which was fine to.

Honestly, it is a great place to go and have a cheeky, quick drink with some friends

Absolutely dead on Monday evening... lager was a bit hit and miss really more towards the miss end. BUT a great bar lady. And it qas £6 something a pint.

Staff were helpful,put the Welsh U20s game on for us fair play, can't fault the place. Probably the best pint of Thatchers Gold I've had so will return 👍

Food was disappointing , the menu looks amazing but the food was tough , a chicken breast that had seen better days , charred to a crisp on one end , bacon and cheese did not hide this . Chips were tough to chew , peas and grilled tomato was ok. Drinks and service good . Would not revisit for Food but would go back for drinks

Ordered food mains arrived and to say portions are small is an understatement had the bbq chicken cheese melt I think they were quails breasts and very few chips and half frozen peas. Don't expect to fill up on the food here!!!!

Popped in for a pre-theatre meal. Very convenient and good value. The small plates were generously portioned. Would have been 5 stars but several items on the menu were unavailable.

Perhaps you may not expect much from a sporty type Yates but this place is excellent. We’ve been a few times recently and it’s really impressive. It has a lovely atmosphere, not too busy and you can always get a seat. The food is delicious and tremendous value, if there is anything slightly wrong the staff will deal with it superbly. Lovely, friendly staff. All of this at great value too.

We had a 45min wait for a bus, so we called in for a drink. It was lovely, clean and spacious with a nice ambiance of people chatting. A pleasurable wait for our bus. Will go again one day.

5 mins from our hotel (Indigo - very nice and so central), across the road from the theatre was this warm, cosy bar. Lots of people in there so obviously a popular spot. We got a nice table by the window - ordered burgers/drinks at the bar. They have lots of big screens for sport so we watched the football - but the sound was down so it didn’t disturb anyone. Tasty burgers and a nice Guiness and House red. Very smiley and friendly staff. A comfortable place to eat and just a stroll from our hotel

Lovely staff we enjoyed every meal and drink no faults there, excellent value, only 4 stars as would be ideal if had colouring for little ones to do or purchase whilst waiting for food.

Advertised its a sports bar come to watch football but refused to put sound on . Miserable staff need training on being respectful to customers . Don't come here to watch sport

A really nice place for watching sports, eating classic pub meals and enjoying a pint or two.

Cheap and cheerful. Found it to be nice and quiet on the Sunday afternoon that we called in.

My friend and I popped in whilst Christmas shopping and I couldn't of been happier with the experience. The pub was lovely and warm, and that warmth was matched by the barmaids Ffion and Keeley who were extremely friendly in their service. I only wish that we had time to stay for food as the breakfasts that were being served looked delicious 😋

I dropped into Yates by accident after leaving another establishment due to the staff being rude there. When I entered Yates I was created by 2 really nice members of staff. They were polite and friendly and took my breakfast order. After sitting down Ffion brought over my condiments and cutlery and I had my breakfast about 10 minutes later, it was delicious. Thanks to Ffion and Keeley for a very pleasant experience, I would highly recommend a visit.

Fantastic service at Yates, food and atmosphere fabulous yet again. We all had a wonderful Christmas Party and would like to say a big thank you to Ffion, Lee, Kee & Ian together with all the rest of the staff for looking after us. 👍🎉😁

The yates is decent if its a starting point and not a full night plan. Its more of a Wetherspoons than a party place. DJ is practically on the dance floor because they haven't located him a big enough area. The pints are shocking if you look at the attached image of mine. I thought the bar maid was joking when she gave it to me but she was dead sure that's how its meant to be! After a few words with another bar worker the issue was resolved with a pint that didn't have a 5inch head on top. Dance floor is small, can probably fit 10 people at one time. The bouncers haven't got a clue how to secure or protect the premises, hardly check ID's, not very quick to action and the one tall bouncer looks about 13 in the body of lurch from the Addams family, and i don't think its safe for someone so young and thin to be put in dangerous situations where he could be having to escort drunken fully grown men out of the premises. And that Lurch comment wasn't a dig, its just he's tall and actually works at a local funeral home in the weekdays but i cant imagine that it can be paying to well if he's forced to take weekend shifts as a makeshift bouncer at The Yates.

Had a good experience recently during the rugby internationals. Service was very good, the drink selection was excellent, and the burgers were tasty. "Footlong Nachos" were disappointing in size and taste. Good place to spend a couple of hours or watch the sport.

Went here last Sunday, they had a Silent Disco! The place wasn't full but...those doing the disco had great fun. The staff were fab, and joined in😁 Visit when you can!

Had a couple of glasses of wine before a show. Nice place and staff.

Not overly busy in there this Saturday. Enjoyed some whisky because choice of proper ales was poor, indeed choice of whiskies was poor too. However a drink, albeit a small glass of coke (because they didn't have an ale i liked) which should have been a large for a deal that should have included a pint wasn't the best really. The burger & fries were pretty good.

Nice place, the food was really nice.

Went to Yates prior to visit New Theatre to have a meal. Very limited choice my husband and myself had the steak pie with veg and chips. Pie was stale and over heated in mucrowave veg not cooked. You should be ashamed ti serve such terrible food. Coming to theatre again on Sunday will not be going to you for a meal.

No proper beer. Real ale. Visited the following day still no real ale. The only beer on offer was John smiths. Won't be going there again.

Came last weekend and had a great time. Reasonably priced drinks for a bar in the city centre and the food was fab. Staff were bubbly, especially Keeley, Rhys and the sarcastic but funny Charley! Will definitely be returning!

Shopping in Cardiff with my nan and daughter and thought we would try this place for food, with nan being in a wheelchair we find most places can't accommodate but from the minute we walked in the door the staff were fantastic really could not fault them...lovely place, lovely food and amazing staff!! We will definitely be returning.
