Overall we had a lovely lunch at Wetherspoons. I love that you can order to the table and pay via the app, which means avoiding standing in queues for ages! We were served quickly despite it being very busy and our food arrived in about 20 minutes after I placed the order. Our server was really kind and the food was presented well! It was quite loud which was the only downside but as there are over 200 tables, it is to be expected for the venue. It can get quite busy on a weekend so keep that in mind! The food was delicious and a good price too. I love how you can customise your meal as well with additional options or the ability to remove aspects, all via the app. Definitely worth a visit for a decent meal on a budget with the option to splash out on a few extras too!

4 out of 10 The branch is located in a historical building, big spaces and two floors, in the upper floor there is a kind of theatre that gives the place a picturesque vibe. However, we were disappointed for quality of food. We know that wetherspoon are know for low prices and therefore we were not expecting Michelin quality food but we have been in other wetherspoons with same prices and better quality. The Benedict eggs were boiled not poached, and the beans on the vegan breakfast were very low quality and plain. I personally loved the vegan sausage (but that’s easy because I like quorn) and the hash browns were also good. In overall, only thing I’d recommend is to come here to see the building and go for brunch to a different place.

Great range of food and drinks nice atmosphere. Went back for breakfast. Great value for the centre of Cardiff and good quality. Very pleased 😀

Does what it says on the tin. In fairness it's does it very well

Downstairs it's a bog standard wetherspoons however upstairs it has some character with cinema style fixtures and fittings. I was served a flat beer that made toilet cleaner seem appealing but that's what you get on a Wednesday for £1.49, I won't be returning.

Good service off all the staff, did not eat there as we we booked into a local restaurant. Great atmosphere and again good staff 👍 👏

The good, pretty and cheap classic. The food is good, it's not the best food but it's good and it's open when other places close. I ordered a burger with chips, very delicious. To drink good beer at a good price in a pleasant atmosphere it is highly recommended.

We were looking for a good spot to get a drink before the Wales football match against Finland in Cardiff and found the perfect spot in the Prince of Wales. The environment was buzzing with supporters kitted out in red, they had a good selection of drinks on tap and the architecture/layout of the place is really cool! Would definitely come again!

Nice pub and restaurant to go for food! But it not great when bunch university people singing songs when you trying to enjoy the meal and drink. PS this is not an sports bar It is a pub restaurant

Busy time was Friday around noon. The service is a low cost model but efficient and friendly and it works.

Lovely pub and friendly staff, and the food is decent. Only thing that stopped me giving five stars was a bunch of university students shouting and singing. It's not a sports bar.

Doesn't cost much but anyway, the service maybe know the drink selection but needs to learn about the food menu. They get it wrong even when point them the item 🙈 😄

They do not know the Table numbers, what a mix up 🔢

When rocket is listed as part of the dish it should not come with a garnish sized portion.

Wetherspoons #115 visited. A large branch located in the centre of Cardiff, in the old Prince of Wales Theatre. The pub is based on two levels, with seating areas, bars and toilets located on each. A rather impressive branch in terms of architecture. Ordered a Vegetarian Breakfast and a pint of Glamorgan 1927 IPA. Unfortunately not the best pub I've been to in terms of beer range, with only three guest beers on. I've been to far smaller branches that have been able to offer up five/six guest beers on a regular basis. For a pub of this size, scale, and prestige, a better range could easily be offered. The drink arrived in good time, a few minutes after ordering. Food arriving around 40 minutes later (12 minutes quoted on App wait times), so very slow. Eventually I had to chase up on my order, as it took so long to arrive. Also observing my food to be sat under the hotplate by the dumbwaiters for over TEN minutes, before brought over. I've only rated one for service due to this. When the food finally arrived, was as expected - lukewarm and dried out. A nice branch to visit, however the service could be Improved somewhat.

Spoons beer festival in progress. Excellent range of beers and food was good. Staff friendly and cleared empty tables quickly. Excellent value.

The Weatherspoons is a restaurant-pub chain, mostly in historic buildings, so the ambience is really good 😍 The food is ok, but you shouldn't expect culinary miracles. Important: There is no table service, you have to order and pay either at the counter or via the in-house app.

The worst food I have eaten! And Guinness served in plastic (on a Sunday evening anyway)! Go inside to see the place then run away!

We visited this grand pub on a busy Friday evening which might have impacted on our ratings. Place was absolutely humming with big numbers upstairs and down. Despite that, serving staff were friendly and efficient and food came to the table promptly. Unfortunately, half chicken with spicy rice was dry and lacked spice. On the plus side, the beef curry was delicious. If you're looking for a pub meal at very reasonable prices then this one is worth a visit, but we felt there were plenty of better options nearby.

Alot better now than it used to be

On the 8th of March, I went with my friends, group of ladies, to celebrate international women's day and had very bad experience at this place. When we tried to take a photograph, one of the waitresses rudely told us off and we explained to her that we were not causing any trouble. She went to the manager and accused us of being rude to her, which was a total lie. The security guard told us to leave the place. I have never in my life had such horrible experience of humiliation. We tried to explain the situation to the manager but he didn’t do anything about it, he didn’t check the camera on her badge to find out what happened. Would not recommend the place.

First time in here was a very nice place

Visited Saturday for food and drinks, great prices on both food and drinks. It was really busy and a good atmosphere with plenty of places to sit, nice toilets and plenty of them. Had bbq pizza, chips and onion rings, pizza a tad undercooked but still enjoyed nonetheless. Cheap and cheerful!

This my first time visiting the The Prince of Wales Wetherspoons. The pub is inside a beautiful grand old theatre from 1878. The historic building has original stucco decorations and a dining are opposite the stage. The location of the pub is ideal. Situated under 2min from the Railway station and right next to the city center. There’s a lively atmosphere at the pub, especially around 4-5pm when office workers met up for a pint. Staff at the Prince of Wales were very friendly and Professional. I ordered the chicken bites, coleslaw with spicy rice and a Leffe beer for drink. I enjoyed the meal and the pint of Leffe was just a delight. The meal and alcoholic drink combination is a really good deal. I’ll definitely visit the Prince of Wales when I’m back in Cardiff. Definitely recommend guests visiting this pub.

Ordered a pizza it was not cooked it was raw and horrible

It's a large city centre 'spoons - usual mix of "interesting" people & decent drinks at sensible prices - very handy for the train station and a good location to meet up.

Very cozy place with good food and ambience

My partner and I visited the Prince of Wales wetherspoons on valentines day this year. The venue is nice and spacious,the toilets are also very nice compared to other local pubs. We only came for a few drinks and arrived around 6 o'clock as we had a meal booked elsewhere for 7:30. The venue was not that busy considering the occasion. However during this time I was able to buy one round of drinks at the bar after waiting for approximately twenty minutes. There was maybe twelve customers waiting yet the wait time was very high. There were five members of staff serving twelve customers. So in response to this queue time I thought best to order our next round through the app to avoid delays. The app told us the wait time would be one minute however after twenty seven minutes our order still had yet to arrive. I went to the bar to find my order on the bar out of the way not being delivered to our table. Upon asking about my order i was told "mate it's busy what do you want me to do about it".Unfortunately we only had five minutes to finish our drinks since we had to leave for our meal. Im not an expert on ar eork but an hour and a half for two drinks in a fairly quiet night seems a little crazy. Then staff were visibly angry and on edge throwing and smashing stuff on the floor in between orders. Overall a little disappointed with out visit.

Boycott Wetherspoons! Visit independent venues instead!

From Ireland, spoons has started to get a bad rap at home for the prices now being the same as the local bars while the food and service doesn’t match. Thought we’d try a UK branch because surely it ought to be better… nope! You guys got away with appalling customer service when you offered competitive prices, but the drinks aren’t much cheaper now than the surrounding establishments and the staff are significantly better everywhere else we’ve visited! Is it a training issue, do management get any training whatsoever on dealing with queries/ complaints/ errors even? Or is someone sitting in an office signing off trainings that aren’t being done (what I was told tonight!) Is it a staff issue? Is Cardiff that hard pushed to find willing workers that You hire anyone and everyone, hope they show up each day and can kind of sort of do their job? Or is it an intentional ethos to just be as rude, pushy and impolite as possible? Either way can’t say we lost faith in spoons tonight because there wasn’t much to begin with but definitely won’t be returning again, should have listened to the many many people that warned against going! Spend a few pound extra and actually enjoy your night!

Bought two cocktails that tasted utter Vile. Only sip them and brought them back up to be exchanged but was told that it's not there fault as that how it's made. so they cant refund or exchange so I left both drinks with them. Would not recommend staff not understanding.

It's a wetherspoon. What more can you say? It was match day, so a brilliant crowd brilliant, atmosphere. Staff were very helpful and friendly and pleasant.

Use this place when in The 'Diff... its a good spot. My only complaint is why they don't utilise the full bar more often, when the place I packed

Enjoyed some nibbles and quite a few cocktails. Took a while to get food and longer fir the drinks but it was rammed and the food was good and the cocktails were lush. Definitely good value.

Three of us had the small fish and chips. It came in a reasonable time and was hot and crisp, perfectly okay. One plate had a slice of lemon with the fish, but the other two did not. I asked if we could have two more slices for the other meals but they never came. I was disappointed that they did not serve any zero or low alcohol apple cider except for some sweet berry versions. Most of the traditional cider makers produce a very reasonable zero or low alcohol version now, most clubs and pubs have one, I would have thought they should stock it.

They've done a really good job of the interior here and, for a Spoons, it's quite clean! But it is still a Spoons... Overcrowded, tables dirty (with glasses seldom being cleared) and last time we went it took them 50 minutes to make a cocktail pitcher (granted this was on a Saturday night). In short: you get what you pay for. Good place for a cheap pint and not much else.

It's a wetherspoons, so usual food and good beer. Great atmosphere and very high inside. One of the better ones and will be going back!

The Prince of Wales is a very nice pub

Went in late on a Sunday after a concert, still happy to serve us and gave us plenty of warning for drinking up. Massive bonus they were finishing some lines so had leffe blonde for £1:99 a pint.

The refit is nice but it seems to replicate what was there before, beer is cheaper than other local pubs. Due to the size it could do with some background noise.

City centre location, close to Cardiff Central railway station and housed in the former Prince of Wales Theatre and, later, cinema. This is a very big Wetherspoons which can get very busy at popular times. Food is standard 'Spoons fare. Staff are friendly.

Pretty standard spoons to be honest, though it is in a very lovely building inside. Normal spoons menu and service. It tends to get very busy can can be difficult to find a seat particularly on a Friday or Saturday night

Had the worst experince I've ever had in any whetherspoons here. If I could give this wherherspoons 0 stars I would. I order food that never came, I was sat there in front of my partner while he eats his dinner and finishes it, then I started to wonder where the hell my food was so I asked the manager, he checked and said it was in the system but he doesn't know why I didn't recieve it, at this point my partner had finished his desert, so I asked for a refund. Its been over 2 WEEKS and I'm still getting strung along for my refund. WHERE THE HELL IS MY REFUND?!?!?!?!?!?!

Great for lunch. Near train station and in city centre. Had some Indian food, fish and chips and coleslaw.

Excellent service following kitchen blip. Busy Friday night (rugby World Cup). Ordered 2 bowls of chips . Got 2 half bowls, nearly warm. Having worked and managed bars etc since 1980’s, just talked to staff about levels of consistency. Manager came over and following positive conversation, fresh hot chips appeared very quickly. No fuss, o hassle, just good customer service: thank you Jordan. Good night for my wife’s birthday, and would recommend this place for both service (efficient and pleasant staff) and atmosphere.

Disgraceful, obviously only keeping this pub open to keep money coming in. My wife had to use the Gents toilets during our visit as the Ladies is out of service. Avoid until refurbishment is finished. This site should be closed.

All day breakfast. Not particularly busy. Pleased to see the condiments and tables in a better state/order than usual. Served in a timely manner. Food came relatively quickly. Onto the food.... This was my fried egg. Where's the rest of it?? How did anyone think it was acceptable to send it out in that sorry state? Say no more.

Very large bar in the Cardiff city center, great for larger groups. The drinks and food prices are very reasonable, however you get what you pay for.

Seem to be doing a spoons tour this week lol and once again didn't disappoint with a meal and a strong larger for about £10 can't go wrong 👍
