Chip as chips, fairly clean, not a bad atmosphere, good selection of beer well worth 3* for a chain pub

We had a lovely meal at the Prince of Wales Hotel yesterday! The herb chicken was definitely the standout—flavourful, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The carbonara was nice too; while I’ve had better, it was still a solid dish. Portion sizes were decent, just enough to satisfy without feeling too much. The overall dining experience was great—a cozy spot to enjoy good food, have a chat, and soak in the relaxed vibe. Wouldn’t mind going back for another meal!

It has very good prices, the people who work there are very attentive and fast, thank you, highly recommended

Great food, great service. Despite the place being absolutely packed on a Saturday evening, we waited hardly any time at all for our food - which was hot and good quality. Love how they've kept the original features of the building too. Great place for a meal or to hang with friends.

Breakfast was delivered to the table before I'd managed to get my tea from the machine , worst offering I'd ever paid for .

Sometimes pop in here when I'm in central Cardiff.... certainly for a couple of beers lagers or stouts and maybe a light meal also....as the name would suggest the building is an old converted theatre.... although apparently it has been other things also before it's conversion to a two story pub restaurant.... certainly upstairs one can easily see the remains of the erstwhile proscenium arch and what was the stage.... certainly the more interesting floor imao(!)....with a windowed area looking out onto Cardiff also.... downstairs a more usual Wetherspoons traditional style sprawling pub.... upstairs one can certainly experience what once was probably a quite swanky theatre!....food and drink good.... service okay.... sometimes good and friendly....then adequate.... occasionally frosty perhaps!....I would certainly give a general recommendation....

Great value as with all spoons.

Wetherspoon pub situated in an old theatre which is still there. A great pub on the inside. 2 floors. Very popular with everyone. Students shoppers commuters everyone. Changed hands a few times over the years but has settled into being a Wetherspoon. Food ok. Booze good. Situated around the corner from train station and bus station it’s always busy with a nice atmosphere. Lots of single ppl through to big groups. Can get very busy on wkds but lots of very hard working staff who don’t let h standing too long at bar. A great pub for a quick pint or a night out. Busy alll day. Everywhere in central Cardiff is close as are lots of the shops and pubs and restaurants. Being a Wetherspoon cheaper than other pubs. Worth a visit and pint just for the interior. It’s quite something.

Came for valentine's day with a friend. Although, we weren't on a date, we were just there for the valentine's day deal they had going on! 😂

The perfect place to meetup with old friends. It's cheap and cheerful. This particular one is in a location that is easy to find for people not from Cardiff. We had a three hour lunch and at no time did we feel rushed. A side note. The Cardiff branches of spoon have the most fabulous ladies toilets. It is probably because they have taken over old buildings, but I would love to think all the branches are equally grand😁🤔

As far as spoons go it's a good one. Not particularly clean, but it's to be expected - it's not a spoons without a sticky table. Atmosphere is decent though, I like how they've kept the feel of a theatre. Selection of beers is very good, ciders too. Food is about as good as it gets for a spoons - so fairly average, but cheap.

Long time since I visited this pub.It was a bit dour last time I was in here. However,the joint was jumping as they say,the service was excellent and, obviously,the prices were great. I would definitely go back again sometime soon.

The best thing here is the infinite chocolate and the beer. Amazing how big It is from the inside. Anyway I would prefer if there were more accesible restrooms.

This is a lovely wetherspoons. It's an old converted theatre with a lot of old world charm. Food is good. 5 star spoons to be fair

They do not like filling the coffee machines and food service can be better

After my award in catering in 1992. Health care and defence award. This is some fantastic place yet again where a thank you and respect keeps this weatherspoons here for us all to enjoy special moments together.

We popped in here a couple of times during some time in Cardiff. The service was always quick, the drinks and food always good and staff were always friendly!

Ordered through the app and the drinks arrived very quickly. Nice atmosphere, and lots of space around the table... after some other pubs felt as if they were cramming you in. The prices were also much better value than other city centre pubs in Cardiff.

The atmosphere of this Weatherspoons is truly unique inside, and it's a large establishment with outdoor seating and an upstairs with spacious window seating. We enjoyed a few drinks outside and would recommend.

I was served a cold breakfast which had been standing for ages. The toast was dry. The plate Was a disgrace. I don’t know how the person in charge of the kitchen allowed it out.. I informed the member of staff and nothing was done about it. To be fair I did see other breakfasts that looked fine. Perhaps I should’ve just sent it straight back, but I ate it one of the worst breakfast I’ve ever eaten.

Popped in here for a drink while shopping in Cardiff on holiday. I can honestly say I have never been in a more disgusting, dirty pub. This place has real potential and the staff that were working were clearly trying their best and working hard, there just wasn’t enough of them to deal with all the clientele. We ordered on the app but the drinks took so long to be served we went and helped ourselves as they were sitting on the bar for at least 10 mins. There were dirty glasses piled on every table and the dirty plates were stacked on the floor in the entrance to the kitchen. Everything felt understaffed, unloved and generally grubby.

Meal was messed up gave rice instead of chips, my autistic client was upset took ages as bar busy, was told chips would be brought over straight away ! After going back to the bar again they arrived 10 mins later ! I was not impressed ! Also noticed large increase in food prices some doubled ! All day brunch in Newport £4.95 Cardiff £10.50

Long wait to get served app not working

My friends and I ordered 2 large and 2 small fish and chips, last Saturday. The small fish was of a chipolata sausage size, the large fish was not much bigger. The food was warm, not enough on the plate for the price that was charged. We did complain but the attitude of the ? Manager was quite dismissive of our complaint. We've ate in many Wetherspoons and had good value for money. This was no comparison! We will never goo there

This place is amazing it has great customer service and the waiters are so kind I would 100% recommend all food here is taste from heaven in my opinion

Great place in the centre of Cardiff

Wow, disgusting security! It's a shame that what was a pleasant night, good service and good atmosphere could be destroyed by a single security guard that clearly thought he was god! It was closing time, we were told to drink up which we did. Then a young lad who thought he was God's gift came with all the attitude stating he wanted to go home, to get out, rude and aggressive ended an otherwise good night for all. Shame on you for allowing this, never again, disgusting service, he need sacking as clearly a self indulged power trip happy youngster giving what was otherwise a good establishment a bad rep.

Just awful !! Ordered an ultimate burger when came ot looked like a 50p burger x thin, dry and freezing cold ' took it back to the bar when it came back I think it was the same burger as nothing had changed it was disgusting ! Didn't have time.e to complain again but will definitely NOT be returning

It's a big place big but its can easily fill up. Food is kinda what you expect from a spoons

The service is always on point, with staff that are quick to make you feel at home. It's the kind of place where you can always expect a good time, whether it's a casual evening out or a gathering with friends for a special occasion. Great cheap place for full breakfast

I mean you can't really fault it for the price before a footy match. Food and drink slow to arrive but given the numbers inside, understandable.

This place is close to the Cardiff centre. The food was excellent and brilliant value for money. The staff were really helpful and there was a very friendly atmosphere in this very busy pub restaurant. Highly recommended

How can you, the Prince of Wales, increase your liquor prices from one night to the next by 20% to take advantage of unsuspecting rugby fans? On Friday 22 Nov, a round of drinks cost me £20,45, yet on Sat 23 Nov, the same drinks cost me £24,84. When I queried this, I was told that this was the price. According to the drinks menu viewed on Friday night, the lower price was correct, yet the arrogant idiot that served me on Saturday insusted thst the higher charge was correct and he probably pocketed the difference. Shame on you Prince of Wales

This is a great venue for the rugby as it's in a short walking distance of the pub. Get in before the game and back in again after. Great place to soak up the atmosphere

The way the bouncers treat neurodiverse people is absolutely shocking. I support an adult who told me about his and his friends experience. They shouldn't have been treated the way they were.

Prince of Wales is great when comparing Wetherspoons. The pub is situated in an old theatre and the interior is quite aesthetically pleasing.

Came here a few times for drinks over the weekend while staying in city. Typical spoons food n drink. Table service was handy during busy periods. Pub had some interesting decor having used to be a theatre some time ago.

Service was fantastic. Food was nice except chips were a little undercooked. Didnt sell steak which is disappointing.Other than that i cant complain. I reccomend the lemon&herb chicken👍

We called in here for a few drinks and the place was really busy. We were lucky enough to find a table, but the service at the bar was very slow.

I am making a complaint in the way my son and his friends were treated. They are autistic and have special needs they came to have a meal and a drink and just have a nice time. One of the bouncers stopped my sons friend. He took the drink off him and threw his drink on the floor and the bouncer swear at my sons friend this behaviour from your staff is well out of order. My son and friend are so upset about it all they wanted to do is have a nice time. I would like some feed back as to know how this has been dealt with No one deserves to be treated in this way really discusscusting.

What a shame, that security guard won't let my deaf friend in cos of his disability, shame on you for not having a disability deaf-blind awareness, sort yourselves out!!! Clearly making out that's you know aware of disability and deafness, what a false!

Didn't eat, Had a drink. Amazing surroundings. Bar staff were lovely. Gave us the history of the place. An ex-theatre. I came here as a teenager when it was a club called Ceasers. Fun to return!

I had a very enjoyable afternoon at the 'Prince of Wales', which was situated close to the main public transport links. There was an excellent choice of Real Ales on offer for under £2.00 a pint and a very good choice of standard food dishes at extremely reasonable prices, along with great service. Given that it was a Friday afternoon, the venue was very busy, which made for a great atmosphere.

It's a Spoons. Staff were friendly, but very busy. The food varied from nice to not good enough. Based on my experience I would suggest you avoid the burgers. The boneless chicken was good.
