beautiful as usual. roast potatoes had some. green bits. but everything else was perfect

Never written a review before but probably the worst service at a restaurant I've ever experienced!

Waited in the restaurant for 40 mins after the collection time. When I got the food home (only a few minutes later) it was all almost cold apart from the gravy, some roasties were burnt, there were no Yorkshire puds and the cauliflower was hard.

Would give 0 stars if I could. I ordered a carvery with beef and gammon, and all you gave me was one measly slice of each meat, and the slice you gave me was 90% fat there isn't even any meat, I would like a refund because I'm not a malnourished child that needs a slice of fat. I want some meat. Gammon tastes very salty, pork had no flavour at all. (I tried from my partners carvery) Earthy tasting veg, hardly any stuffing and only one Yorkshire pudding. I certainly didn't pay for that. Terrible food, terrible service, won't be ordering from you again.

I like coming here for breakfast and a carvery food is lovely but most of all the server della is amazing she always very polite and makes you feel very welcome

Food turned up stone cold! Small amount of beef not even a slice all in tiny flakes like it had Been scrapped from the tray! Four tiny roasties and then mounds of mash and vegetables! I may as well have had a vegetarian dinner!

Always made to feel welcome Della gives 1st class service very friendly and adds to the overall dinning experience.

Was a busy evening but staff did their best. Was served by Megan who did a great job and served us quickly even when I could tell she was being run off her feet a bit!

Whitchurch, Cardiff Toby is always busy. Immediately after we arrived the staff made us welcome , just like old friends. Each of us had a Carvery meal - the food was hot , tasty & plentiful with lots of choice. Sally looked after us like we were old friends and always had a smile & a few kind words for our toddler.

Arrived to be 'greeted' by a scruffy, ill-tempered, rude woman on the front desk. We had not booked, like the elderly couple in front of us to whom she was even more rude. Gave them a disgusted look and didn't even leave the desk to show them to their seat, just motioned with her hand. Took us to a tiny table in the middle of an aisle surrounded by occupied tables, whilst half the restaurant was roped off. When we asked if there was anywhere else to sit, she curtly replied 'no'. We walked out and will not be returning. When restaurants are complaining about fewer diners these days, quite why they would put someone like this on the front desk is beyond me. If this is the calibre of their staff, would not like to think what lurks in the kitchen.

We haven’t been back to a Toby in years we came last week and it was soo good we had to come back again this week. We were served by sally who is just wonderful. Such a lovely lady. She had a little banter with our 7 year old and made his day. We’ll definitely be returning in Sundays after the rugby games. Thank you sally for making our experience so lovely. You’re an asset to the restaurant.

Nearly 2 hours is ridiculous wait time

Martha was our server and she was absolutely lovely to us, very smiley and extremely welcoming. One of the best servers I've ever had. Also loved the potatoes though there arent many vegetable options at the carvery, all round a great and cost effective meal.

What a lot of food! Beautiful, well cooked dinner. I wasn't impressed by the beef though. It was like belly pork, but beef. The pork and turkey were really good. Roasties, yorkies, carrots peas, cauli cheese, mash and gravy all gorgeous!

We are regular visitors to the Toby Carvery in Whitchurch and always enjoy our visits. The beef was beautifully tender and there was plenty of it. There was plenty of choices of potatoes and veg, and the only complaint we had was that the ice cream machine was out of order. Our server was Della who always looks after us, she’s so friendly and a real grafter to boot, to be honest, if we go for lunch and she’s not there, we’re disappointed. We'll be going back very soon

Our experience tonight has been fab!! We turned up unannounced… 12 of us! We were well catered for, the service from Emily was fab, super attentive and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble! Mike on the carvery was really friendly! The food was lovely, would most definitely recommend!! Thank you!

i waited almost 2 hours for my food with no way of knowing what was happening - the wait time was pushed further and further. I am very unhappy

Such an amazing server, Hannah was serving us and she did such a great job. The food was fantastic and the carvers (Stan and Dan) were very efficient and friendly. A few wobbly tables but overall, this is a perfect place to eat.

Mate, let me put it simply, Stan may be my favourite human in the whole world. He let me indulge in many a Yorkshire pudding and boy were they cooked well. Food was great, big up the Toby massive inside the place.

The chef around 5:30 he has a little bit of an accident he was very nice and cut my meat the perfect size

Food was the typical Toby Carvery quality. Lovely meat, vegetables were warm enough but not hot. Service let the experience down. Extremely slow. The waitress was very pleasant but far too slow. We ended up with 2 disappointed children as we had waited for such a long time after our food, we ended up asking for the bill instead of ordering dessert

Raffle ticket 295 My Father and I stayed in the Travelodge behind the Whitchurch Toby Carvery last week and enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the carvery every day. We had a smashing assistant called Della (and a lovely assistant in the evening called Megan). They were so very helpful and kind. The food was great as it included a hot breakfast with the usual full English choices such as eggs and bacon, but there was also roast potatoes and carvery meat all in together - very unusual but a great way to start our day! We also had toast, cereal and porridge. Everything was fresh and hot each day. Della looked after us so well - we are very grateful. We highly recommend this Toby Carvery for breakfast as the food is great and for less than £7 per head (for hot food) and about £4 per head (for toast/cereal) with teas and coffees, it was excellent value as well. A+++

The principle of a carvery meets all my expectaions of a venue for a meal. The layout, the staff, the way that it operates are really good. Although the purpose of my was primarily to use the Carvery, the choice of beers is something that can be improved on. There was no cask beer and the suggestion from one of the vacant pumps is that the usual offering, when available, is the ubiquitous "Doombar". There are so many Cask Ales, including local beers, that would provide a more enterprising choice.

Prompt and friendly table service. Carvery staff also friendly and helpful. Food of good quality, and good to have choices beyond the very basic. Ideally, we would have liked a fruit-based dessert (such as the fruit on offer on the children's menu) as well as the ice cream, cream and stodgy options.

Hate the way they increase the price of a carvery based on what day of the week it is. Quite stingy on the meat as well, beef was cremated.

ordered ultimate meat no pigs in blankets which paid extra for.. very stingy on meat.. also asked for turkey and pork on one of meals only got turkey. and no yorkshires included.. a bit disappointed with todays meal

Spoilt our afternoon. Due to attitude I did not order food! Would have left but my child was Hungary!. Such a shame usually the normally have a great experience.

We had Christmas Day lunch and it was wonderful. There were 2 vegetarians in our family and they wete impressed. Food was plentiful and hot, service by Owain was impeccable, nothing was to much trouble. It really was lush!

Our group of 15 or so from Vineyard Church Cardiff came here for our men’s Christmas get together. It was super busy being this time of year, but we got a very generous and reasonably priced roast and had a great night. Our server Sally really looked after us and went to great lengths to sort out our very arduous bill. I was impressed and will definitely be back!

First time experience: Excellent menu, especially vegetarian options. Waitress was very polite and helpful, as first time customer at this restaurant. Edit 3 months later- Second experience: We were booked into travelodge for next day business meeting, after travelling for several hours. Arrived 10 minutes late to the restaurant for 8pm reservation and was told carvery was closed and no longer serving food. This despite a very large quantity still available. Very disappointing customer “service” as staff seemed more interested in finishing up. A loss to their takings as our large party dined and drank elsewhere. Also a significant wastage of food !

Had a lovely breakfast. Food was good, well priced, place was really nicely decorated for xmas. And staff were really friendly and helpful. Grace and Della were really chatty with our son and really lovely. Ticket number 239.

Ordered 5 Xmas takeaway turkey and beef lunches with a time slot of 11:30. Meals supplied at 12:10. Got home to find no roast potatoes or Yorkshire pudding with the beef order. The portions supplied were adequate but the beef looked like burnt scrap ends and the turkey slices wafer thin. We accept we have to pay a premium seeing it was Christmas Day, but considering we paid twice the price than at normal times the meals were disappointing.

there are supposed to be around 5 or 6 roast potatoes provided per carvery ordered. I ordered two carverys and only got 2 roast potatoes for each carvery. the food was delivered late abd tge packaging was damaged. I submitted a partial refund request and provided photos and it was refused.

courier was held up at restaurant for over 20 minutes.
