A lovely place for Sunday lunch. The menu is varied, so there are a number of alternatives to the traditional lunch also. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, even though it was busy on Easter Sunday. Good atmosphere and comfortable surroundings, in addition to good food.

Fantastic. Was advised to go here by a friend due to its reputation for excellent foods and atmosphere, and wasn't disappointed. The service was brilliant, food was, as stated, excellent with great ales, 🍷 and spirits. Wonderful location and atmosphere. Suggest you have the home made Beef and Stilton pie. WOW.

Without doubt the best food we have had! Such a beautiful welcome, friendly staff and othi g is too much effort. The creamy garlic mushrooms and focaccia bread are amazing and the best burger I've had in a long time. Huge shout to Rich, his staff and his family for such an amazing time and food. BOOK IN ADVANCE! I literally saw them having to turn 3 families away that turned up off the hook but couldn't get fitted due to being fully booked.....I think that says enough in itself! See you all soon! Steve, Jo and Charlie. X

We turned up without a booking and luckily they were able to accommodate us, it was late afternoon and it started to fill up while we were there, so we will make sure we book in future. We went based on reviews and we were not at all disappointed. I had one of the best restaurant meals that I have ever had! I had the pie of the day, beef and Stilton and it was amazing. My husband went for the liver and bacon and said it was wonderful! The staff were lovely, it was our 48th wedding anniversary and we had a great time.

Honestly, you would drive past this place as on the outside it is nothing special. The thought “dont judge a book by its cover’ springs to mind here. We had heard the food was good, so on that note I emailed ahead a to asked if they could make battered halloumi and chips.. they said YES. We arrived and what a massive surprise we had. It was like being transported to another world. We opened the door to be greeted by a very friendly person. We were gobsmacked by the decor, the furniture, the cosyness, the cushions, the warmth from the log burner, it was perfect, perfect for a date, a birthday, an anniversary. No way is the first impression going to disappoint. It’s everything you hope it could be… and the food, OMG amazing, just like the service. Note to staff and kitchen. What a fabulous experience you have created. I would say award winning. Best kept island secret. Thank you all so much for all the effort put in to make your customers feel welcome.

Hospitality is the key to a good restaurant well they need to learn from that I have just had dinner there and it’s NOT value for money at the end of the day it’s a pub serving some homemade food but we had deep fried calamari to start, I thought it was a joke 4 pieces about the size of my thumb £9.95 this is bought in through a frozen wholesaler this is not value for money I mentioned it to the server to tell the chef of my complaint but instead of coming out to the customer they bury there head in the sand not good as I will tell other people and they will tell other people I’m in the hospitality business for the past 35 years and they get to confident remember always talk to your customer. I would not recommend this establishment and I’ve been going there for the past 15 years just very very disappointed

A very meaty lasagna with salad and garlic bread and a vegetarian lasagna. They were all really good. Clean plates all round. Other drinks were served and then very good teas and coffee. Everything was done very professionally and in an unhurried manner. We were there over hours and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

We booked The Yarbridge Inn for a birthday meal for my husband. The whole place from start to finish was excellent, the food was brilliant and we all ate something different and it was really very nice. We sat in the dog friendly area with our little dog Maggie and we were made to feel so relaxed and welcome. The staff here go above and beyond what you are used too, from the moment you are seated you feel special and like family. Something other restaurants could learn a lot from as the customer service is outstanding. We were taken care of by Hannah and Martin who are in my opinion a valued asset to hospitality. Everything was perfect and I highly recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for something special and relaxed.

So on the 27th December 2022 me and my partner went for a meal here to celebrate our 6th month anniversary. We normally go to the Yarbridge inn for meals but on the 28th December or around that week after we went for a meal. The owner messaged us both to tell us we are not welcome, over something I did not do. The owner and his family wanted to put the blame on someone and because they know that there is alot of trouble on the island that unfortunately I'm involved with as I chose the wrong crowd; the island's car community, they thought and put the blame on me and banned both of us for something I did not do. And when I asked to see graffiti ( writing in the woman's toilets) the owner refused to show, both of us cctv and evidence of this incident that the owner claimed I did. I'm glad that I'm not welcome , as I do not want to be friends with people like this ,when they falsely accuss someone and can't back themselves up because they know they are in the wrong and I'm glad because this has saved both me and my partner money and we have found another beautiful restaurant to eat that has better food than the yarbridge Inn and a much better atmosphere there. When my mum went in to ask to see " proof " , the staff at the yarbridge was very rude and told her to get out. This just shows that the yarbridge Inn, its staff and the owner are very big headed and they know they are in the wrong for accusing people. I didn't even use the toilet , I went in and sorted myself out ,outside of the toilets where the sink is and what I was carrying out was my belt ( not a pencil) so please get your eyes checked and get better cctv before you start pointing fingers because this was very unfair for the both of us.

I emailed the Yarbridge a few days ahead of time to ask if they could do a chicken salad, which was not on the menu. They were very nice and said that was no problem. The restaurant was lovely and busy. My husband ordered a lemon/garlic chicken with pasta. I ordered my telephone request of chicken salad and chips. The waitress said she would ask if the kitchen would do it. I asked for garlic butter on the chicken but the young waitress said they couldn’t do garlic butter. When the meals came, my husbands chicken was colourless and dry. My chicken was the same. My salad consisted of about two thirds of the plate loaded with tasteless iceberg lettuce and a bit of purple lettuce, some slices of cucumber, a few piccolo type tomatoes and a few strands of red onion. I asked for some dressing and was told dressing was already on it, but there was nothing on it. All very bland. We had lovely desserts and the bill was around £120. My chicken salad was roughly £17. I don’t mind paying that for a chicken meal but what I was served was a complete rip off for the cost. Such a shame. I didn’t say anything at the time as we were with friends and I didn’t want to spoil the evening. If you are going to be charged around £17 for a meal, that meal should at least be decent. If it was a basic meal the charge should have been much less. Their reply email to me said they would charge the same as the other chicken meals which I was more than happy to pay, but I expected a lovely tasty meal in return.

Review of the Yarbridge Inn, Yarbridge Cross, Brading, Isle of Wight Six years since we had dined in the Yarbridge Inn - the last time that we were on the island. Check out the earlier review (28June17) with all those references to the cherished memories that (typical of families) cover all those places much loved and appreciated from the time that we were all kids on those long summer holidays in Brading and the surrounding country with Mum (and sometimes Dad too). There are not many early family times that are remembered better. In June 2023 we’d shared a table at the Yarbridge Inn with the same couple from earlier – a much treasured brother (and his wife) – with whom we had once shared those early summer months - on the Downs above Brading, on the beaches at Sandown and on the steam trains that once serviced the Ryde to Ventnor line. None of your ex-London Central Line tube trains in those days. (Who would have believed it – if you’d have suggested as such – the tube trains followed the electrification of the line in 1967 – that’s almost 60 years ago!) Our previous review had been highly complimentary and the restaurant, table, food, etc. was exactly the same this time too; comfortable dining room in which to eat, prompt/friendly services, high quality presentation/foods and great eating. We’d chosen to share lunch – a couple of easy hours relaxing in the corner with a relatively empty dining room around us and the bar to one side. There was time to reflect upon those earlier times – well, the original two of us – and to appreciate the changes from the perspective of lives subsequently led in different parts of the world. The one who had become a resident of the island and the other who had moved away permanently – and then chosen to shift countries on a fairly regular basis – as life/employment opportunities changed. As kids the Yarbridge Inn had always been there at the end of the village where the cross-roads lead to Brading Downs in one direction and to the long route up-and-over the Culver Downs through Yaverland to Sandown in the other. We’d sometimes walk this route in preference to the easier direct (and much shorter) route Brading-Sandown. Earlier in the week three of us had visited the Roman Villa south of Brading – a first time for us. The museum features a map of the Isle of Wight (called ‘Vectis’ by the Romans). It shows Brading Haven with access to marine shipping – sea route that effectively isolated Culver Downs and the surrounding country as a separate island that was called ‘Bembridge Isle’ through to the medieval period. In the 16th C. the seaways became unusable. Then a causeway was built and, in the late 19 C. the estuary/marshland was drained for access to the land/soil. Lean out over the bridges of the railway or the Yar river next to the Yarbridge Inn and reflect upon the sea inlets that once dominated the country. Choose from a menu of options – whether those that determine life, location, routines or, in the case of the restaurant, the meals provided. There were four menus available – two chalk boards for the day and two formal printed cards. On offer were light/smaller meals (for a set £10.50) and also larger plates with more varied choice of lunch meals (in the range £10-£20). There were also starter and dolce options for those who enjoyed their food (and could space the dishes with time in between to thoroughly enjoy the food/table/company/time.) Our approach came with age/experience – following the mood of the table. It was a pleasant place to be and, crucially, we didn’t know when we’d be back. Go for the moment then. We talked and ate, and talked more. Eat regularly at a place and, typically, you get to know mine host and those in the team that front the public interface – taking orders, serving, covering the cash desk, etc. Twice in six years doesn’t provide that kind of opportunity, but there’s a public ‘Welcome’ note available that introduces Family Fox and the key people running the restaurant/bar. Check out the photo attached … and, of course, complimenti to management and those who front the kitchen. So, what did we eat? Check out the photos of the menu wall board and the card. Three of the main meals also feature in the photos. The Chicken Brie, Gammon, Duck & Scampi come highly recommended. We took advantage of the table water provided for the meal – with a supplementary acqua frissante e una birra. There were two dolce (that were shared for the pleasure of the tastes) and three coffees with which to round out the talking at the table. It had been a year since we’d last met up. Our meal/drinks had cost £111.85 (so, £28/head). Peter Steele 07 January 2024

We have been to The Yarbridge for a post-Christmas lunch for several years now. We always enjoy our meal. This is a family business and one to be admired. Our meal today was excellent in every way. Service is simply superb: a lovely blend of friendliness, courtesy and attentiveness. The cooking and produce really excellent. The only slight reservation we had today was that the butternut squash soup did not taste very authentic, though it was tasty. In every other respect, our meal was great. BIG thank you for serving it on hot plates..... rare to find this, even in 2023. It makes a meal so much less frantic. The restaurant is cosy, yet spacious with a very agreeable ambience. Pity the place was so cold that the staff had coats on, pity the spaces nearest to the door were not for disabled but for staff!!!! Don't mind paying their prices if we weren't sat next to oil radiators, electric heater blowers and a fire that no one knew how to work! Upon arrival there is no bar so you wait to be met, good old American meet and great.......but instead had to wait for another customer to let the staff know a customer had arrived. Perhaps spending money on a working heating system would be better than the holiday car parked by the front door where you would expect a disabled space to be!

We went to the Yarbridge Inn for an 80th birthday party as a group of 15. My little cluster (4 people) were incredibly happy with the food, service, and atmosphere. There's lots of parking available and when we arrived about half an hour before the booking Hannah sorted us out with some coffees and we sat in the beer garden and waited for everyone else to turn up. The food was...amazing. I was expecting everything to be pretentious and expensive just for the sake of it. However, the portion sizes were very good. I had garlic prawns as a starter and they were very nice. I then ordered the mega mixed grill as a main. I'd read the menu and knew what it consisted of but when it turned up on the table I was shocked. It was absolutely massive. This is the only place where I've asked for the steak to be cooked blue and it's actually been cooked properly. The rest of the meal was equally very good. The sausages were clearly very high quality and the chips were proper thick cut chips. Our main waitress was Hannah and she was attentive without being overbearing. We even bought a little piece of artwork that was displayed on the wall. Overall it was a lovely place to celebrate my grans 80th birthday. And although I don't live on the island I plan on visiting the Yarbridge Inn again soon. I would strongly recommend this place to family and friends.

Family owned business. Great welcome. Superb attentive service. Sunday lunch was as good as it gets. Crab salads x2. Terrific. Presentation. Taste. (note: dry lettuce first chef). Two roast beef (brilliantly rare, god, so good), roasties, four veg, it was quite brilliant. Sticky toffee pudding. Mixed berry pavlova. Terrific presentation and the taste was impeccable. Total bill £96, for two, Inc two large glasses of red and two beers. I can't praise this operation highly enough. It's family run and their caring professional approach shines through. Reserve your table. I have Collies. Instantly welcomed. Great approach by front house team. The catering "chains" could learn so much from this business. How to produce a superb friendly welcoming atmosphere, present deliciously tasty food. It warms your heart. Prepare to be treated like they care you arrived and then sit back and luxuriate. Fantastic. Tony Perrin, West Sussex.

First a useful tip for travellers; for a sunday lunch book days ahead. This place gets very, very busy and deservedly so. Everything about this place impressed us, the decor, the staff, the drinks and of course, the food. We were after a special holiday sunday lunch and we got lucky. The food was not only plentiful but it was beautifully prepared and cooked. This is one of the best roast lunches I have eaten, ever. They have a very talented chef that deserves as much praise as I can give them. The story front of house is the same. The servers were all friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Special mention must go to our waitress who has personally tested and approved all of the desserts. She has a flawless palate and I want her job. All this for around £27 a head including two desserts and two drinks from the bar makes it an absolute steal.

Firstly the YARBRIDGE INN is in BRADING NOT SANDOWN> Now the review - this is a very popular pub restaurant so you will have to book - even out of season. Really very good food at a reasonable price. All served by very helpful and lovely posh tottie. Great dishes and great puds.

Called in on a Sunday on the off chance we could get a table for a quick lunch, the Inn was extremely busy but they managed to accommodate us. I wanted to go to the Yarbridge as I had seen that they do crab sandwiches, well what can I say, I had the best crab sandwich of my life, fully loaded with crab meat and served with fries and salad, please go hungry and you will not be disappointing. The whole experience from the ambience, to the swift service to the amazing staff was one of the best that I have had in a long time. I would thoroughly recommend the Yarbridge and would suggest making a booking to ensure you get in.

What a lovely place! Very pretty with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were warm and friendly. The food was superb 👌 The steak & Stilton pie had large chunks of tender tasty meat. The sausage & mash was delicious, and the sea bass was cooked to perfection. For dessert, the chocolate fudge & ice cream went down well. The cheese board was also superb. Would definitely recommend this pub 👍

This was our first visit to the Yarbridge Inn and I know it certainly won't be our last. The food is clearly the best we've had on the Island (there are some lovely places to eat here as well) so it's definitely our firm favourite. The pub looks welcoming and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. It's well worth a visit.

Great service and food. We visited on a Sunday so roast dinners were ordered along with the salmon. Great portions and food tasted amazing. We did order puddings, but struggled to finish them due to how full we all were, but they were equally as good. Will certainly visit again when we head back to IOW. Oh and Jersey the dog also gave the roast dinner 10 paws 🐾

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Two sizes, small and regular. The food was amazing. The best roast I’ve ever had. The staff are very welcoming and managed to fit us in without a booking. Nothing was too much trouble. It’s a shame it’s our last day on the island or we would definitely visit again!! We will be sure to visit next time. It was a great find!!

Lovely friendly family run pub with great food and a good range of beers. Very lucky to get a table for 2 on a Thursday lunchtime without booking as this place is justifiably very popular. Shared Breaded Squid followed by Crab Sandwich w. chips (not fries!) and salad, and Crab Salad were both excellent, washed down with a pint of Inch's Cider. Will definitely be back. Thank You
