Yarani Indian in Taunton Deane

It appears since I visited before Christmas this place has shut down. Curry was delicious, as was the naan bread but it was all very expensive, to the point I ignored starters and popadoms. The main, naan and a soft drink cost in excess of £30! As much as I enjoyed my meal, I don't think it was good value for money and there are other Indian restaurants in walking distance that are better value and serve equally as nice dishes.

Absolutely disgusting service tonight ordered our delivery and waited when it arrived it appeared the naan bread wasn’t in the bag so we called up and asked where it was and could they send one out we was called a liar because the man packed it himself so I either chucked it in the bin hid it or ate it, the man said he’s never going to serve us again and I asked if I could go to him to show him it’s not in the bag was then told I won’t give you anything. Aswell as him shouting I’m pathetic over moaning over a naan bread which I paid 4.50 so I’d understand if it was 1.00 or soemthing but considering delivery charge was also 7.00

The worst biriyani i have ever eaten in my life.The quantity and taste of the biriyani is so poor.I'll not suggest any of my friends in Taunton about this restaurant

Five of us ate in in here last night. The staff were brilliant, friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Also all 5 of us thought the food was brilliant. Personally thought this was nicer than most of the other Indians in Taunton.

Ordered Online (a simple meal for one) at 1822 hrs on Sat 20 Nov 21 and although I would have been quite happy to be advised that they were busy and would get to me ASP I was instead presented immediately after ordering with an on-screen 'Order Status & Delivery Time Indicator' which amazingly gave my delivery time as 1905 hrs. Alas, that time came and went and tried 'phoning without success but the order arrived at 2016 hrs - almost 2 hours after ordering. Of course, the driver had been to the wrong address as is ever the case with Yarani (is it difficult to calibrate the address AND the Postcode into a SatNav?). Do not fall for the 30% deduction for ordering online; the prices are proportionally increased beforehand (just take a look at the prices on the online menu) and one other thing, although the online advice is that delivery is subject to a minimum order total (which I met) I was still charged for delivery! So, how was the meal - as soon as entered my kitchen with the bag I was aware that the main meal container had burst and the lid was out of kilter and much of the sauce from it was at the bottom of the bag - what a mess to clean up before I could dine - it was all over the place. But I have to report that Yarani still do the Best Karahi in Taunton - and I have tried all of them (repeatedly) since the '70's!

Nice enough restaurant, but for the price I was hoping for the best curry I'd ever eaten. Instead it was merely a nice curry with nice presentation and nice service. By price I mean it was £4.50 for a small glass of coke and our meal for two (starters, mains and 2 non alcoholic drinks each) came to over £70 which for us is crazy expensive for a midweek meal!

Ordered at 6pm, they advised it would be delivered for 7, 7:30 still no curry phoned and advised it should be delivered soon, 20:10 still no curry, phoned and advised the driver has still not collected, they also advised that the curry had been cooked and was in the hot oven, as we have children waiting to eat we asked to cancel as over 2 hours not reasonable, they refused to give refund and was pretty rude, I will advise against this sham of an Indian and will be asking my bank to get the money back from them

OK this is the second time that I have ordered a take away from Yarani , and I've been to three other Indian restaurants in taunton, but I have to say I really like it , very happy with the food , what people have to realise when you go into a restaurant to eat, the owners have to clean and clear tables wash dishes and pay staff, great food give a discount

We dined here last Saturday evening. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and all our food was delicious! The staff were attentive and helpful and we are looking forward to our next visit !

Having ordered many times in the past. My husband and I ordered from Yarani last night. My husband ordered the Biryani and I ordered tandoori mixed grill. For the first time ever I was totally disappointed. The biryani came without veg curry but the mixed grill was so salty it was inedible and had to go straight in the bin! Nearly £30 wasted! Very disappointing. ☹️

Very bad experience today evening ,wait 45 mints for the order chickn tandoori and naan got extremly salty chicken which cant swallow a single bite .call the staff who is in the reception and give him for taste .he agreed as well.we were not in a mood to continue the food because the scenario make us really upset .no apology,no hospitality, literally a worst experience and asked for us to pay for naan at the end without any sorry.i wont recommend anyone YARANI.

Was staying with some friends in Taunton who kindly ordered a takeaway for us all. Looking at the menu, it was extremely expensive, so I expected good things. I wasn't disappointed. The food from here is excellent, the best Indian I have had for a long time, and I do eat a lot of it! Don't understand all the bad reviews. We will definitely be ordering again!

Booked in for evening meal. Food was really tasty. We used tastecard so got discount, otherwise did feel a little pricey. Clean and tidy and member of staff was perfectly pleasant although a tad under dressed. No draught beer and bottles were expensive. A little more VFM would have got 5 star.

What an absolute rip off. Ordered last night as a treat for myself and two daughters. It seemed expensive even with the so called discount. When it arrived I was appalled at the size of the starters. £5.50 for two tiny samosas, £7.50 for chicken and cheese balls that were the tiniest 3 balls of dried,burnt....well not chicken and cheese that's for sure, £4.50 for 3 tiny onion bhajis that again were dry,very over cooked and tasteless, the cheese and garlic naan which was vile at £6.50 and very small,the mixed grill was again tiny and just tasteless for almost £15. The rice was nice though as was the butter curry and pashwarri naan , but again so small. So it all came to £45 with discount and over half went in the bin. If you want a decent meal this take away is the place to avoid. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Shocking...I visited here with my friends as we were in Taunton for work.dont bother the service was painfully slow despite us being the only customers in the restaurant,it's extremely pricey approx £17 for a main course,£4.50 for a glass of coke, £4.50 for a small bottle of sparkling water,£7.95for a bottle of cobra beer. Went here in a group of 8, wish I read the reviews before hand! Staff where friendly but the food was terrible. Very over priced, £8 for a beer, £8 for a Keema rice, £15 basic curry and you don't even get poppadoms. The quality was on par with a microwave meal and the place was dead!

Was charged full price for takeaway when stated discount for collection online. Husband chatting to friend hadn’t seen for ages and didn’t notice until next day. Obviously taken advantage of. Food greasy - could taste the grease all next day. Won’t be going again.

Absolutely horrendous, 30 minutes late delivery and food of the worst standard. 50% reduction, if I paid 100% I would request a full refund! Chicken and lamb pasanda plus chicken tikka masala ordered, 5 pieces of meat in too much sauce. Combined with attitude of delivery person who said it is not my problem for late delivery, incredibly poor offering if I could offer no stars I would!

Our delivery was missing an item and there was an issue with another, I called the restaurant to let them know and kindly asked if they can help me out with it, but the person on the phone refused to understand and spoke very rudely, making some extremely unprofessional comments which were shocking and referred himself God. When I read other reviews for the restaurant, I was surprised to read that someone else had exactly the same experience where the man on the phone was rude and called himself God! NEVER ordering again!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered through a.well known 3rd party site. Order hadn't been delivered 45 minutes after it should have been. I called the restaurant to be greeted by the most obnoxious arrogant man. Who.told.me the order hadn't been pulled.off of the system and it was the 3rd parties system failure. He found the order on the system and said I had to call this 3rd party to cancel and get a refund then started telling me he didn't need my.money he could.afford.to buy my house out right ! Really......Where did that come from ? what is wrong with these people !! Subsequently I contacted the 3rd party for a.refund as we hadn't had the delivery and YARANI have told them they contacted me and delivered our food.... So guess what NO FOOD - NO REFUND !!! Absolute joke I will not ordering from this restaurant again ! Liars to say the least !

Firstly, the actual food was not bad, probably worthy of three ⭐️. The problem was the bill. Their website says that if you order on the web you will get a 50% reduction in the menu price. To be honest you need this reduction as the prices (£12.95 for most mains) is very steep for take away. The website also offers free delivery for orders less than two miles, we are less than one mile. The truth is that the reduction in price is 20% not 50%. There is also a £2 “handling” charge, what is that about? Finally, delivery is not free! There is a £3 charge so the total ‘extras’ have risen to a staggering £5 wiping out the 20% discount. All in all this is a very expensive takeaway that I won’t be using again.

Four of us wanted an Indian meal out rather than a takeaway so we went to Yarani. The food was excellent, plenty of it, very tasty and it was beautifully presented in the truly Indian manner. Service was attentive without being intrusive. There was plenty of space between the tables and I was surprised that the restaurant wasn't busier as it was all so good but there were lots of takeaways being collected. Parking is just behind the restaurant in the public car park in Wood Street and is free in the evenings. I was a concerned that we might be charged but you just take a ticket and put it through the car parking machine and it goes through without expecting payment so all well.

Food was nice but really pricy. £29.99 set menu said it included rice or Nan bread but then got charged for it , coke £4.95 for a little glass. Very expensive for a average meal. Lady serving was lovely but no wonder we were the only one in there at that price. Won’t be rushing back

I was worried when I saw the previous reviews for this place. Honestly, it wasn't as bad as the reviews made me fear. However, with the exception of the chicken tikka naan bread, everything else was a little bit... Meh. Not bad. But not good...

A couple of weeks ago we had the most awful experience, our delivery was over 90 mins late I managed to find an alternative telephone number as the one on Facebook seemed to have been taken off the hook. I spoke to who I believe is the manager who shouted at me for asking where my order was he told me we didn't have an order, we did as did it through just eat, he continued to be beyond rude to me, he then managed to find our order promised it within 20 mins, 3p mins later still no order. Such a shame the service is so poor as when we finally got our food it was very nice

ROBBED ME!!! Made me wait for 3 hours (until I gave up as it was nearly midnight), unplugged the phone and marked my order as delivered when it wasn't. No food and empty pocket AVOID

They have no idea how to run the place. It is seriously understaffed. Sat for ages before order taken, then half an hour later starters arrived with no cutlery and no drinks. We had to ask then after 15 minutes for these. The starters were nice to eat. Then the mains arrived with no rice or bread. The mains got cold and we had to send them back for reheating and remind them about the naan and rice. Naans were some of the best I have tried. The mains were also good. It seemed that one young man was taking online and phone orders and waiting on tables. The owner was not helping the situation by stressing everybody out and trying to boss his staff around. The food is good but needs to really think hard about service.

Real shame.food was really nice and hot but delivery was over 1 and a half hours late. Six of us booked a table last night. Hadn't been to that particular Indian restaurant before despite regularly eating Indian food locally. Quite simply the food was fantastic! I had the Chilli Kerala which was delicious, perfectly balanced flavours and just the right amount of spice for me...I do like my curry to be quite hot. The naan bread was cooked to perfection. The service was prompt and efficient. So glad to have discovered the place, thank you and we'll be back.

Nice decor looks great. However the waiter was in T shirt and slippers. Very little vegetarian choice. Didn't have the wine we ordered. Papardam never arrived. Specially order a medium curry but came full of chillies. Only gave the Codiv discount on mains not on rice, naan or side dishes. Very poor service but still charged 10% service charge.

Just had a meal here, food was very good even though served on chipped plates, sat looking at laundry corner in restaurant so feels more like sitting room certainly no restaurant feel, no social distancing. Drinks served in chipped wine glass, manager dressed in jogging bottoms and flip flops certainly not restaurant manager attire. Very expensive considering 50% off to limit of £10 per person. No track n trace details asked for. Certainly wont be back. Not sure what the £5:82 extra charge was for.

Order here regularly and no complaints normally except we ordered today and discovered they've marked their prices up a ridiculous amount. Paying £6 for a portion of rice or £6 for a naan bread (which was half the usual size) is completely unreasonable. Hopefully they adjust their pricing in the future.

Unfortunately after a second (of two) luke warm orders plus missing items this time. I cannot rate this place any higher. The food was, in fact, very tasty but the service leaves something to be desired. Uber is definitely not a good idea when it comes to ordering from this place.

Absolutely shocking, found a hair in my food and was then verbally abused and shouted at in my face (not observing social distances) he then locked the doors and held me and my wife against our will. I called the police and they attended and we were let out. On top of this the food was shocking, tasteless and the owner is so rude!!! On a positive the lemonade was fizzy and the ice was cold. Disappointed - not authentic Indian continent cooking at all. Several reasons - onions still hard they should be soft or blended, garlic tasted raw, the consistency of the curries was watery not rich, pretty tasteless no spice, the chicken was hard and tough. I hardly leave reviews but this is poor. I understand the establishment got busy in a short time but at least cook the onions right they were almost as hard as the onion pickle you get for poppadoms. This is the best place in Taunton for an Indian meal with family or friends or a Romantic meal for 2 or you could collect as a takeaway or phone them for a home delivered takeaway , so many options for you for a great night of tasty food. The wife & i took my sister & her husband here for a meal as they were looking for a place for great curry and to take their employees to for a treat .the decor & ambience of the restaurant with music playing quietly in the back ground. So you can enjoy a great meal while chatting & enjoying your food .the food was hot & tasty as were the beverages. The staff dressed smartly & looked after us very well indeed .thankyou to you all at Yarani we will be back 🙏

Its one of the worst resturants in Taunton and absolute incoordination among staff in the restaurant. I Request customers not to fall into the trap of getting 20% off.They are unsure about the difference between a veg meal and a non veg meal.I don't think its an Indian restaurant ,any common man or a person will know the difference between veg biryani and you don't even find the ingredients when you order from online which is pathetic and unethical.The restaurant manager argues that egg is mixed in all veg biryani universally.I suggest people to be very careful before you order and I repeat pls do not fall in to the web on 20% since you will not find any ingredients on the menu when you order.
