Tamarind Bay in Taunton Deane

Having not visited the restaurant for a couple of years there can be little doubt that it has changed hands, sadly not for the better. Having selected a king prawn dish (@ £14.00+) from the menu I was presented with what could at best described as three unshelled prawns in luke warm gravy. My wife's selection of a chicken murgh makhani was no better being tepid lumps of tough chicken doused in a tasteless colourless coconut sauce. Under current reckoning it can only be a matter of time before it changes hands once more.

Very disappointing, tasteless meal, definitely not what it used to be like when we visited regularly a few years ago. No one came to ask if our meal was ok…..probably a good job!

A good meal, nice service. Chicken tikka dhansak was great, but the lamb in the other curry was very tough indeed, and most of it was left…. To be fair the server did say that the lamb wasn’t the ‘nice soft’ type of lamb…. But it really was surprisingly tough. The flavours were very good though, and good value. Would return in the future for another visit

I came here this evening with my partner and the food was excellent and taste divine. The staff were very friendly also helped my partner with a curry as he likes spice but not to much and was recommended the perfect curry. I would definitely recommend coming here, I will be returning without a doubt. It was a lovely evening and everyone is so polite.

Fantastic meal, the food is really good! Some great news dishes on the menu, very attentive service without being imposing or annoying. Looks like they have recently decorated, beautiful new Denby plates! The only thing I don't understand is why every table wasn't filled with people, but we came quite early. Were a few others at tables though, all talking about how good the food was.

Went to this place when it first open it was lovely so kept going back, but it sadly it went down hill very quickly, so tonight I though I’ve revisit to see how it was and it was amazing the food was out this world and the service was great to and the staff was lovely, my husband and I was informed it was under new owners and you can tell, I can’t fault it will be going back again #yummy

King prawns were not king prawns , the description was king prawn purée , this is wrong and they were chopped up into small pieces @ £8.95, it was also tasteless , we complained and we were told to fair trading. Will not be returning due to the aggressive behaviour when I challenged them. The chicken was also very small compared to other Indian restaurants I have been to.

Naz and his colleagues couldn’t have been more helpful. The food choices that he recommended were full of flavour, well cooked and presented. They had good knowledge of dietary requirements and which dishes to suggest for both dairy and gluten free. Will definitely be returning Sue and party

So… I’d had a few bad take aways, but decided to give Tamarind Bay one more chance - and so glad I did. They’ve changed hands and now have a great new chef as well as starting an ambitious refurb of the dining room. The attitude has changed, and so has the food… my Lamb Jalfrazi had depth and many delicious layers of flavour - clearly a new approach. The chicken tikka was fresh and succulent - no longer dry and bright red, but oozing with marinated flavour…. They’ve won me back. Looking forward to seeing their restaurant changes too in the coming months 👍🏼

Recently, I had the pleasure of taking my girlfriend out for dinner at Tamarind Bay, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. We had a takeaway. The food was so greasy and didn’t taste anywhere near the standard it used to be.. I don’t know if they have had a change of ownership or chef. The meal left us all with a horrible taste and we couldn’t eat much because it wasn’t a tasty or enjoyable meal at all. We really couldn’t stomach food from here again. It used to be first class food so we find it really sad that the quality and taste of the food has gone down the pan. If it has been a few months since you last ate food from here, recommend that you do NOT do it again - you’ll be really disappointed.

Been going here for 12 year I think. Sad to say last few orders have not been to standard. Main Chicken hard and chewy. Taka dal . Sloppy tasteless dishwasher water. ( normal love it) Bombay aloo dripping in grease and weird vinaigrette taste. So sad to write this review.

Hello, I couldn't get through by phone and you don`t have an email. So I`ll message you on here. My brother said he was on his way to mine and had ordered takeaway tonight. The delivery man knocked and checked the details and house number 14. Before I put it the oven on low to keep warm I was aware it was the wrong order. My brother had ordered from a Chinese. This Indian order must be for some very disappointed customer who hasn't received their food. I can only apologise for not catching up with the delivery man in time. It is still here, if someone can collect.

As visitors to the area, we always do a little research on eateries and Tamarind Bay restaurant had some good comments. We gave it a try and were pleased we had, the food we ordered was very nice. Only disappointing thing is, we don't live close enough to use it regularly.

The positives, the waiter was very friendly and attentive and the poppadoms were nice. And that was it. The rest: I like an Indian meal as a little treat when I'm away on my own. I was looking forward to this. However, it was not to be... Being vegetarian I selected the Paneer dish, expecting the chewy Indian cheese and, as a 'medium' spice strength. Plus rice. It came as boiled vegetables in a sauce with simply cheddar cheese melted on top, not Indian paneer. There was zero spice to it. In fact, no flavour at all! Where was the cardamon, the fragrant flavours, coriander etc? Just nothing. To top it all, I was charged twice for the single beer. Admittedly, I was offered a refund on this but tbh I, by this point, just wanted to leave. £19 paid and left feeling hungry and miffed.

We ordered food for my daughters 17th birthday, 2 hours later and member of staff they had sent out on food delivered our food which happened to have been the wrong order. We then had to wait a further 40 minutes for them to send our correct order only to then have send an elderly man on foot with a torch to deliver it. Absolute terrible service, they treat their staff poorly and we will definitely not be ordering from here again.

Ordered Take out at 18:45, was told would be there by 20:50, tuned up at 21:15. Food arrived either stone cold (curry and rice) or warm, the nan bread. And that was due to it being in a insulated bag. The curry itself when opened smelled rancid, and when plating up I noticed a lot of oil/fat. I skimmed off over half a cup! When nuked it smelt even worse and after after a few bites I gave up, threw it in the bin. 10 mins later I was glued to the toilet. The general response from the store was 'tough' Do not use

Ordered via their website, 1hr 15min wait, wrong food delivered, after lots of phone calls (and time) finally got through to be told its 10 minutes away, wait another 30 minutes, call again and finally arrived 25 minutes afterwards. 3 hours total after ordering! Food was not up to usual standards. We have used tamarind bay for 6+ years with no problems. judging by recent reviews things have gone massively down hill regarding service and quality. We really want to give them another chance in the future but dont want to waste my money and time.

When this restaurant opened it was really good food. I’ve ordered twice in the past couple of weeks and unfortunately both times weren’t what it used to be. Both times I ordered through the website and both times it arrived late. The food was also just about warm which is not really acceptable considering we’re less than 0.5 miles away. The disappointment with certain dishes a couple of weeks ago had the opposite issues this time (eg. The onion bhajis were a bit undercooked and lacking structure last time, this time they’re hard to cut because they’re overdone). It’s disappointing and we all agreed it’s not the same anymore unfortunately. Staff and delivery drivers have always been pleasant and friendly. We won’t be rushing back until it improves, which is a shame.

Pretty bland food, nothing to write home about.

31st Wedding Anniversary, decided to ave an Indian delivered. Have eaten in restaurant a few times but not for a while. The person taking the order was polite . Ordered at 17:10 for delivery at 19:00. Food arrived 19:25 - had to pay cash!! Tandoori Mixed Grill didn't have the Naan, the King Prawn - there was one! yes just one! All of the meat was all over cooked and dry. The Onion Bargee side was dry and almost inedible. The wife's veggie option called Kurchani, had 2 bits of cauliflower, 3 bits potato but the sauce was tasty. Her starter, Thakali, was over cooked. I could go on. We are so disappointed. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I feel that if you want a decent takeaway - don't bother with this place.

Used to love the delivery from them. But this year the service has declined. When ordering from the app it’s always 1 hour later than what the app says it will be. The quality of the food has also decreased unfortunately. It’s heartbreaking to be honest to leave this review because we have been eating from them for 5 years but I’m tired of feeling like a waste of money when it’s supposed to be a treat for me and my family.

I never normally write reviews, however, I was so disappointed with my takeaway meal that I felt I needed to. We usually order from Show Spice, but as it was a Tuesday, it was closed and Tamarind bay had 20% off. I must say that I would definitely rather pay 20% more and order from show spice in future. I had a vegetable Korma, as I usually do, and it was really bland. The rice was tasteless, the sauce watery and bland, and the veg was literally just frozen veg (peas, cubed carrots and green beans) plus a couple of pieces of mushy, salt less potato. I was really quite shocked by the difference in quality and taste. Can't comment on the restaurant itself as we had a takeaway/delivery meal but the food we had was lovely and still hot even after the 6mile drive. Their driver even dropped it off to our motohome on a campsite. Will order again if we're down this way in the future 👍

The worst restaurant I’ve ever been into. The service waiter was very very slow and very rude. The drinks took 30 mins to arrive and the food took an astonishing 90mins to arrive. The food had no taste and cold. I asked for no alcohol beer they said they said they had none. So I had a horrible tasting coffee. The water tasted like swimming pool water. The music was very loud and awful. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. I WILL NOT RETURN EVER !!

The only sit-down curry house in Wellington, but the only one you will ever need. Bright, spacious, very friendly staff and prefectly reasonable prices. Are there better curry houses out there? Disappointing. Ordered a vegetarian korma and received a chicken korma instead. Was told on the phone my whole order would be replaced, however when received I only received the vegetarian korma I had originally ordered.
