We had a meal on banquet night. The portions were really good and the food was very tasty. Staff were friendly and the service was quick. Could not fault the place. Would definitely eat their again.

Had bad experience with this place last year 2023. But it has now changed hands. Myself and my family had a cracking takeaway from here, delivery was quick, and driver very pleasant. We ordered khazana, chefs special and butter chicken, can I say all 3 were banging. Poppadoms and naan were lovely. So everything okie dokie, definitely recommend

Got a takeaway from here, after a terrible meal last year. It's under new management, and I have to say the food was amazing the chefs special and khazana are to die for, accompanied by butter chicken, mushroom rice, all dishes well seasoned, tangy but in a great way. Thank you Defo be back

I used to love Tamarind Bay. Now that it's under new management, the food is disgusting. I was horrified with what we received and it was inedible, we paid about £40 and couldn't eat our dinner. The butter chicken we ordered tasted awful, was chunky, and all the oil settled on the top of the dish. It was also all cold upon arrival. When I called up to tell the restaurant the issue, I was met with someone saying "that's just the way they make it now, we've had loads of complaints about this". If you've had loads of complaints, why has nothing changed? We were not offered a refund, partial refund, or a replacement. £40 wasted.

We had an exceptional meal at the Tamarind Bay. We asked our waiter about how spicy one of the special dishes was and he explained how it was made and what spices it contains and said that it could be made hotter or cooler as we required. The food was delicious, the service was quick and efficient and the prices were good. All in all I wish we lived closer as we'd be regular customers.

Just to let you know that the meal delivered tonight was basically inedible, we asked if you could do a prawn Pathia as it is a favourite for one of us, you said yes but then delivered a container clearly marked as Bhuna, which they don't like; the butter chicken was overly-spiced and tasted like a Rezala - nice but not what the person ordered and therefore a let-down for them as they don't like Rezala. We ordered 2 lamb dishes - a Balti Tikka Jalfrezi and a Devil's Tamarind - but in both meals the lamb was totally solid, sinewy and unchewable, probably because the lamb was pre-cooked as tikka, cooled so it toughens up, and then just chucked into the new sauce to heat through. Even the rice was a fail - both the mushroom and pilau rice were underflavoured and watery...we also priced up the meal on the website, and somehow an order that costs £63 on the website cost £68 over the phone...I don't know what happened tonight but as you're closed this message is to let you know how poor the food was and that we will be posting these complaints on other review sites. We don't want apologies or money-off vouchers; we want your food to get better.

Last night (Tuesday) my family and I had a meal at Tamarind bay. The restaurant was not full. We arrived at 7 pm orders taken at 7:30 by 8:30 our meals had not arrived. The waiter came over and asked that we wait a further 10 mins for our food to arrive despite people after us getting their food before us! When it eventually arrived it was cold and order not correct. When we paid for the bill I asked for a discount and we got 10% off!! The waiter told us someone was off sick! If this the case then tell people before they sit down ! Not impressed - the food was not able to sway me to return….

Absolutely fantastic. The food is utterly delicious and service is with a smile. The waiters are so friendly and very welcoming and what made it more fantastic the head chef came out the kitchen to ask how was the meal which is very unusual in a curry house. Overall clean restaurant, food, priced well and fantastic place to dine in and for takeaways. 10/10 thank you guys. 😃PS make sure you book a table to avoid disappointment

I was shocked at the price of the food now, no discount on takeaway so you are paying the same as eating in. I compared it to other Indians 10 mile radius and it is by far the most expensive. The food is ok and the man at the desk is pleasant . I can’t afford to go back

Such an lovely ambience. Decor,furniture,cutlery and crockery all of a good quality and so nice to have proper linen napkins. Good was delicious and the service was exceptional. Highly recommend.

Service was poor, one waiter was playing around on his phone at the till area had to put hand up like at school. My friends meal only had four bits of chicken in it when he complained no sorry was mentioned and then when the surprise top up came out after five minutes it was like rubber. They still had the audacity to charge us £40 and no mention of being sorry just ‘we will sort it out next time’ I had to stop on my way home to be sick and currently on the toilet and my mate is also has his guts rumbling away! Service was shocking as they had only four guests and two/three members of staff. Shocking as have been loyal for years, unfortunately not another option in Wellington so will have to venture further afield.

We came here last night for the first time and this didn’t disappoint. Very flavoursome , good quality food delivered with a smile and a polite welcoming service . Good value , and definitely worth a visit . We have high expectations of food and having read previous reviews didn’t think we would leave satisfied but we did . Give it a try , we shall be recommending it to our customers on site .

Great food that is slightly more original than the rest.

Food arrived earlier than estimated time. Korma was good. Rice was a bit funny. Naan was old and had definitely been sat for ages, cheese was rock solid on it.

Having not visited the restaurant for a couple of years there can be little doubt that it has changed hands, sadly not for the better. Having selected a king prawn dish (@ £14.00+) from the menu I was presented with what could at best described as three unshelled prawns in luke warm gravy. My wife's selection of a chicken murgh makhani was no better being tepid lumps of tough chicken doused in a tasteless colourless coconut sauce. Under current reckoning it can only be a matter of time before it changes hands once more.

A good meal, nice service. Chicken tikka dhansak was great, but the lamb in the other curry was very tough indeed, and most of it was left…. To be fair the server did say that the lamb wasn’t the ‘nice soft’ type of lamb…. But it really was surprisingly tough. The flavours were very good though, and good value. Would return in the future for another visit

I came here this evening with my partner and the food was excellent and taste divine. The staff were very friendly also helped my partner with a curry as he likes spice but not to much and was recommended the perfect curry. I would definitely recommend coming here, I will be returning without a doubt. It was a lovely evening and everyone is so polite.

Fantastic meal, the food is really good! Some great news dishes on the menu, very attentive service without being imposing or annoying. Looks like they have recently decorated, beautiful new Denby plates! The only thing I don't understand is why every table wasn't filled with people, but we came quite early. Were a few others at tables though, all talking about how good the food was.

Went to this place when it first open it was lovely so kept going back, but it sadly it went down hill very quickly, so tonight I though I’ve revisit to see how it was and it was amazing the food was out this world and the service was great to and the staff was lovely, my husband and I was informed it was under new owners and you can tell, I can’t fault it will be going back again #yummy

Chicken korma and Lamb passanda tasted completely different to previous orders. Sauces were watery, odd flavour and barely any meat present. A disappointing meal especially for the price

King prawns were not king prawns , the description was king prawn purée , this is wrong and they were chopped up into small pieces @ £8.95, it was also tasteless , we complained and we were told to fair trading. Will not be returning due to the aggressive behaviour when I challenged them. The chicken was also very small compared to other Indian restaurants I have been to.

Food was very tasty, arrived early but could have been warmer. Menu stated that the Tandoori Mixed Grill came with a naan bread but there was no naan in with the delivery.

Ordered for the last time as my wife couldn't really eat it. The last 5 orders had missing items or was the wrong items. The tikka masala has really gone downhill and was almost the same as a tomato and herb sauce with a couple of bits of chicken thrown in. The onion bhajis are well over priced you only get 2 in a portion when you used to get 3 for cheaper. Since the new ownership in November it has really gone down hill. I wouldn't recommend you order from here.

We’ve been ordering from here for 5 years. Until last summer it was the best Indian in Wellington, but I won’t be ordering again :-( our last 5 or 6 takeaways have been bad, but we have persisted in the hope they will get better, as we like the unusual dishes here. The Kazana is now blander than passnda, you can no longer taste peanut and has no spice whatsoever. Keema Naan virtually no meat, no salad with the starters. Really really poor. Not again:-( privately complained by email, no response…

So… I’d had a few bad take aways, but decided to give Tamarind Bay one more chance - and so glad I did. They’ve changed hands and now have a great new chef as well as starting an ambitious refurb of the dining room. The attitude has changed, and so has the food… my Lamb Jalfrazi had depth and many delicious layers of flavour - clearly a new approach. The chicken tikka was fresh and succulent - no longer dry and bright red, but oozing with marinated flavour…. They’ve won me back. Looking forward to seeing their restaurant changes too in the coming months 👍🏼

Food was stone cold, cant blame it on delivery as even the cheese on the cheesy nan hadn’t melted. Ordered a korma for my 12 yr old and it was way too spicy for him to eat, normally loves a curry. May as well of put £42 in the bin as none of it was edible, really disappointed!

The meal was cold only reason the mains were hot enough to eat was because I put them in the oven while eating the starters. I had to microwave starters to heat up. Also one starter was missing so had to share. You say it was delivered at 21.35 I rang at 22.10 as I had not yet received it and aftwas told left 2 minutes ago so would be here in 3 minutes it arrived at 22.45 35 minutes later. I had guests around so embarrassing and so much apologising had a really disappointing evening as a result

Original delivery was 6:45-7:05, then after ringing restaurant it got changed to 7:45 but arrived just before 8!

I’m sorry but the food was not great tonight. The sauces on both curry’s were really watery and Luke warm. Flavour of the sauce was good though. There was only 4 chunks of chicken in each curry and they looked and tasted like they were reheated; dry and hard. The naan breads were nice. Not sure what happened tonight as normally it’s good.

We had a takeaway. The food was so greasy and didn’t taste anywhere near the standard it used to be.. I don’t know if they have had a change of ownership or chef. The meal left us all with a horrible taste and we couldn’t eat much because it wasn’t a tasty or enjoyable meal at all. We really couldn’t stomach food from here again. It used to be first class food so we find it really sad that the quality and taste of the food has gone down the pan. If it has been a few months since you last ate food from here, recommend that you do NOT do it again - you’ll be really disappointed.

Been going here for 12 year I think. Sad to say last few orders have not been to standard. Main Chicken hard and chewy. Taka dal . Sloppy tasteless dishwasher water. ( normal love it) Bombay aloo dripping in grease and weird vinaigrette taste. So sad to write this review.

Everything else was fine but the butter chicken (which we've had loads from tamirind Bay, and usually) was so salty we had to throw it in the bin as it tasted of nothing other than salt. Such a shame as the food is usually so lovely. Hoping it was just a bad batch or a kitchen mishap
