The Blue Mango in Taunton Deane

This is the best Indian food within at least 30 miles in any direction. I have been to so many different indian restaurants and take aways from Bristol, to Dorchester, to Minehead and everywhere in between and yet Blue Mango are still the best by far. Their food is always sensational in taste, freshest ingredients and meats, never disappoints and always leaves us craving more. Every weekend, our treats are a Blue Mango and although you can no longer eat in the restaurant, the food is still superb and the staff, boss and chef are wonderful and friendly as always. We choose to collect our food as we enjoy speaking to the lovely boss and chef when in and of course Niki in front of house and even the delivery driver who is always a laugh when he's there. Could not fault their service or their food one iota. Thank you so much Blue Mango for years of great food and service. Catherine

We are in town for the night. Overall ok, my lamb was super tough, ordered vindaloo and it was not hot at all. The madras was hotter. The naan was not good. Starter we got was ace. Very tender and tasty. Why are there neon grains of rice in pilau rice?

Bland and lazy. Biryani lacked flavour, Poppodums were made maybe with semolina? flavourless, fatless, didn't eat 1 out of 3. Tandoori chicken has never seen a tandoor. Sprayed yellow. It was all just frankly, rubbish. Bland, no care, no passion. Won't be ordering again.

Best Indian in taunton. Very very good quality dishes and very consistent with quality.

Fantastic food this evening. I have not been to the resturant in ages like 8 years and got take away this evening. Went and collected speaking to the owner who was great. When we got home the food was super hot, not greasy at all and full of flavour. I like the touches of the larger vegetables. I am a massive dal and chapati fan and these where both exeptional. Will defo be going back and would reccomend for your next curry for sure.

Had a takeaway this weekend. I had chicken korma, my partner had lamb vindaloo accompanied by egg fried rice, garlic naan and poppadoms. The poppadoms were very good, the meats on both dishes tender and succulent, sauces spot on, the rice light and fluffy and the garlic naan soft and pillowy. We have used the Blue Mango before, but this was the best curry we'd had there. Well done chef!

I haven't eaten food from here for several years. After messing about with online systems at various restaurants I ordered a delivery from here. I had lamb dupiaza and my wife had chicken biryani. Food arrived 10 mins early on a Saturday night!! Both dishes were very tasty and good portions. My only criticism would be a bit too much oil floating on the dupiaza. Overall we were very pleased and I will order again from the Blue Mango.

Excellent menu, masses of choice and some very unique dishes. Presentation was excellent, onion bahjis were the best! Pleasant environment, good service definitely one for curry lovers.

Top service and great food. I normally go to another curry house but won’t be anymore. The service was some of the best I’ve ever experienced, especially the lady who served us who was fantastic and really good at her job. Everything we asked for was sorted and came out within minutes. The food was fantastic and had great options it was a nice place to sit in and looks smart.

Gorgeous Indian restaurant. Sells all the classics and more. Does look a little tired and therefore deceiving from the outside but more than makes up for it with the quality of the food.

We arrived early to the restaurant and were greeted by Nicki. We had the most delicious dinner, with recommendations on dishes to try. Staff were diligent, happy and friendly. A great meal out thank you. We will be back!

I was told by the friendly hotel staff of the nearby Corner House Hotel that the Blue Mango was a popular place and only 200 yards away. So I walked up the hill on that balmy summer evening to find a building that seemed to have no door. But I figured it was around the corner, and I was ushered into a nice banquette table by the window. I am the bane of South Asian restaurants as I can't stand any chilli at all. But my Prawn Balti did the trick, along with Brinjal Bhaji and plain rice. And of course, I couldn't resist a few pappadums with the trimmings to start. And there seems to be some ( limited) parking just by that elusive back door..

Quiet on a Friday night but nice décor and friendly and efficient staff. 5 of us and we all enjoyed our food selections. 2 of us had Devil's Tamarind, 1 lamb, 1 chicken. Gorgeous. Not a spicy dish despite the name, but great flavour and not one I had had before. Can't remember the other dishes but all impressed. Pappadoms with bits, main, coconut rice, large beer and tip: £28. Maybe not the cheapest but very enjoyable. I would recommend to a friend!

A bit sad that they asked me to use the new menu on line, which I did, then they rang me 5 mins later to say it was extra money as the menu wasnt correct...not great.

The blue mango has been our local for meals and takeaways for nearly 6 years and have always been consistently outstanding. However our take away tonight was disgusting. We ordered a tandoori chicken starter and a chicken tikka main amongst other things. After the 20 minute drive home we opened it to find two chicken tikka and no tandoori chicken. What’s more it was bland, tasteless and chewy. The naan bread we paid for wasn’t in the bag, the salad was limp and only one small pot of yoghurt dip. Very disappointed

Excellent quality food, well presented and tasteful. Great use of spices and not to long to wait from ordering to being served. Definitely not cheap, £75 for three persons, main meal only no starter or dessert, rice and nann breads, one soft drink and two pints, one kingfisher the other cobra. Will return again as the ambience is lovely not sat in rows like being in school however next time hoping the peshwari nann is better quality and not falling apart inside and maybe a mint or chocolate once the bill is presented.

Have visited here twice and have loved it both times! Excellent food (so much choice!) and excellent service from a fantastic waitress/host. Very nice ambience in the restaurant too. Will definitely be going back.

I've had takeaway from The Blue Mango several times and for me, it is by far the best in Taunton. Just wished their delivery radius went out to Bishops Lydeard! However, extremely happy to pick it up to get what I want.

This has always been a favourite of mine but my expected treat this week was disappointing. The chicken in my main course was dry and the sauce tasted like it had been reheated. The 'candied fruits' were more like tinned fruit salad….and no kulfi! The popadoms were great and my colleague loved her main course as usual. Very inconsistent.

Excellent food. Definitely the best place in Taunton and it was so good we went there twice! If you're a fan of Asian food, you definitely must go. Ask for the lamb curry, you won't regret it!

Highly recommend The Blue Mango Lovely choice of dishes & efficient staff. Our food was well presented & delicious . Starter: jinga prawn & king prawn puri. Main: Kata masala & chicken tikka masala, onion bhajis , garlic nan, kema rice. We will defiantly return !

Had the Murgh Pal Pali and Mushroom Fried Rice. Was absolutely delicious as usual! The Murgh Pal Pali is a chicken tikka curry but even tastier and more delicious. The Mushroom Fried Rice is also very flavourful. Blue Mango is the best in town; always delicious, friendly, clean and professional. You will not be disappointed.

probably the worst takeaway i;ve ever had,it was cold the sauce was thick and sticky , tasteless,2 pieces of yellow pepper 3 p[eces of hard chicken and at £9.50 a total lack of value, and this was a chefs special,

Unfortunately, order never arrived. 3 phone calls and was told each time it was on it's way. One hour later, still no delivery. Real shame to have to leave a negative review as the food is normally lovely

Always a pleasure to use this restaurant, food always arrives on time and is cooked beautifully, plenty of depth from a flavour perspective. Looking forward to working my way through their creative menu.

Really enjoyed our first delivery from Blue Mango. Been meaning to try for a while and so glad we finally did. Delicious food, generous portions, efficient delivery and even managed to sort out our special request. Look forward to ordering again soon.

Me and my girlfriend and my parents have had a very nice at blue mango I had the khushbu it was very nice my girlfriend had the kata masala it was & spicy my parents had nice currys as well, also thank you from boss for the free drinks we hope to be back soon

What a find! Loved the crocodile tears and jewels of the sea absolutely delicious!Nice modern restaurant only negative is the chilean saugvignon was disgusting (and expensive) they need to have an affordable house white. £18.95 for a bad wine is off putting. The food is to die for !!

The was our last curry pre Covid and our first trip out for a curry post Covid.it was a great choice. As always, the food was delicious. As well as the standard curry dishes, Blue Mango has a range of Chef's specials......which I would love to work my way through......the food was delicious. The service was very attentive and professional. Highly recommended. We'll be back!

We have always enjoyed visiting blue mango as a large family. During lockdown they have literally been a god send. We have ordered weekly and every single time its on point. Each dish is authentic and wonderful. The staff are friendly and deliveries always on time. The food is truly consistently amazing!

My order to be delivered said 30-50 minutes. After an hour I called and asked when it had left the restaurant, they said it just left but that it was due to be with me immediately. I said ok you are sure I don’t want it to be cold. He immediately started to shout at me, swearing. I held the phone away from my ear as he just shouted abuse at me. The food arrived 5 minutes later, luke warm.

Sadly the quality and authenticity of their food has continued to decline - are they under new management? The delivery when ordering take away is also now very poor and always late. I have kept the faith with them for a long time but now give up. Each time I call when the delivery or food is poor to ask what’s going on they are disinterested so they leave me no choice but to vote with my feet and move on. It’s not as if we are blessed with many good restaurants in Taunton and it’s sad they they have declined so badly. I cannot recommend them to you at all and they seem to feel they are can guarantee so much repeat business they don’t mind losing a good customer - well they just lost one!

Friendly staff and very tasty food

Managed to get the last table for Valentines night so they were mega busy. Food was absolutely lovely. Pretty big portions (the chilli chicken on the bone would easily have served two). Not the cheapest but definitely worth it

I visited this restaurant again with some friends and was not disappointed. Again thefood tasted amazing- with some speciality dishes unique to the blue mango. The staff are very friendly and always there to help. Best Indian restaurant around!!

Had a meet up with 11 other friends the food is amazing, and superb vegetarian options, the owner Mr blue mango, will cook special dishes that are not listed to suit your taste

Lovely food but disorganised take away packing. Last 2 times we have ordered a take away from here what's in the bag hasn't quite matched what we ordered. Last night none of the naans were packed at all. Don't get me wrong the fiod is lovely but you should check they have packed everything before you leave the place.

Waited almost 1and a half hours for food. Restaurant was not busy. My dish was pieces of lamb in curry sauce and half the lamb pieces were unchewable, the other half were so tender. The contrast showed possible addition of left over lamb dish added to new lamb dish. I won't go there as a choice.

I have tried so many Indian restaurants in Taunton and Blue Mango is by far the best one. They take a lot of care and attention in cooking their food, nicely presented, good portions and the staff are well mannered and friendly.They have many special dishes; the lamb shank and crocodile tears are definitely ones to try. You will not be disappointed! I also order deliveries from Blue Mango from time to time; they have never been late with my order; food turns up piping hot; the drivers are friendly and polite. I live in the sticks which is quite hard to get to and I always give the drivers at least £2 tips for their effort.Blue Mango are my regulars, there is no where else I would go to.

I found this restaurant to be over-priced for what you get and the food was disappointing. I went mid-week with a friend and told the waitress we were using our meercat meal voucher. Maybe that explains the tiny portion of rice at a premium price, but they also tried to charge us for the two desserts at the end. When querying this, they said they are not obliged to do 2 for 1 for anything other than mains. I have never experienced this anywhere else. To be fair, they did eventually remove the second dessert from the bill, admitting they should have explained this at the outset, when I asked if anything was excluded from the deal.

My girlfriend and I thought we'd give this restaurant a go and we're pleasantly surprised, friendly driver, quick delivery, Very tasty kormas, if or when we order indian online we will give this place another go. Try something different.

Went here tonight. Food was cold, served on cold plates. Prices are over priced compared to other Indians in the area. When I complained, they implied I was a liar. Terrible attitude and overrated and overpriced. I will never go here again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

The restaurant itself is nice, clean nice lighting with backlit wall features. The staff are pleasant and attentive and leave just the right amount of time to mull over the menu before coming to take your order. There are no draught lagers so it’s £4.95 for a bottle of cobra. There’s plenty of options of mains on the menu, but only four different rice dishes.I chose green chicken from Goa which according to the menu was hot, well it was warm enough from a food temperature perspective but certainly wasn’t hot from a spice point of view. My portion of pilau rice was more like a child’s portion, it was tiny.thank god I ordered a Keema nan otherwise I might have had to have a lamb kebab chaser from a kebab shop down the road. All together a disappointment and won’t be returning.

My party and I spent an early Wednesday evening at the Blue Mango, I had previously reserved a table the night before and explained that I have a Compare the market.com voucher of 2for1. We were greeted on the night and escorted to a table in the corner of the room as requested. The quality and amount of the food was excellent and the service was very good. The menu is quite pricey, but I can not fault this restaurant and with out no doubt say that this is the best Indian meal that we have had in Taunton in a long time.The restaurant was not busy, but I suppose that was because it was early in the evening.

Tip top restaurant we had a takeaway was outstanding as always vindaloo was the best the spice were spot on great flavours! Perfect vindaloo with side dishes the service was speedy but hot,fresh food always repeat customer last Saturday was full house inside restaurant eating and about 10 customer waiting for takeaway food teste was fantastic we are regular customer always highly recommend food good on quality and prices recommended you to try if want good quality food

Don’t think I will be visiting again, second time experienced poor service, smaller portion and larger prices! If you use Tastecard they neglect to tell you just main dishes now btw.

Nice ambience, staff very friendly and professional. And my curry "Crocodile Tears" is up there with the 4 or 5 best I've ever eaten (all over the world). Really, really good!

I think they're trying too hard to be a fine dining Indian restaurant. My seabass dish was small for the price and bland.

Manger was extremely helpful and totally unwilling to accept the legitimate Meerkat (Compare the Market) 2 for 1 discount, saying that we should have booked in advance and told him then. I can only assume this was because he would have reduced the amount of meat in the curries. Disgraceful. I will not be a returning customer.

I dined with JJ_Roland 65 on Thursday evening and share the sentiments contained within that review. Whilst the restaurant excelled at a number of things, our visit was spoiled by a miserly approach to customer service.

Went in for an Indian with my friend Sunday night and I don’t think I could find anything to complain about. The food was amazing and the chicken was so soft and tender you could of cut it with a spoon. The staff was also really friendly and helpful. Will definitely return and recommend to anyone if they fancy a good Indian.

Our first opportunity to dine in at the Blue Mango and have to say both the food and the service was excellent. Had very good takeaways on many previous occasions and now we live closer we can make it a night out treat too!

I was very impressed with the food, first time we had been so was expecting a good Indian food evening what we got was way above the average and I will definitely be back one of the best Indian meals I have had.
