Somerset Masala in Taunton Deane

Went out to celebrate my birthday.. it was on a busy Saturday and the place was very busy. The staff were amazing and very helpful.. we were a party of 25. There was no waiting, and the food was fresh and always replenish. I had a great night and would recommend to all. I will be back to see you soon.

Today I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant that surprised me, because it is very difficult to find food made with quality and diversity, even if the palate is more Indian. But it served us, Brazilians, very well. Very good service, food prepared on the day, diverse and top quality desserts. I recommend it and will definitely go back again. Thanks

Had an excellent lunch here, very reasonably priced, lots to choose from although it was very Indian Orientated . Sushi was lovely, nice salad and fruit bar. The Mexican food was made to order ( included in the £14.95) but not actually in the buffet area. Limited amount of Japanese and Chinese food, still very tasty. The dessert table was awesome and the strawberry ice cream is to die for. The staff were really polite and friendly and the restaurant as a whole was very clean and spacious. Served soft drinks only

Pretty surebthis called the Somerset Buffet now. From what we saw on social media we were really looking forward to it, shame it didn't live up to it Let's just say that there were a few things that were good - prawn toast, tempura prawns and sushi. Everything else was average - mostly bland or tasteless, even the desserts. Oh, they don't serve alcohol either

Well what, or where should I start…….. I walked in and the hot air smacked me square in the fat face!! And then we got ushered straight to the bar to pay and then to be told they don’t have change.. so I had no other option but to tip before I even sat down….!! Now to move on to the so called food or should I say…..NOW GET READY FOR THIS.. drumroll 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁microwave (ready meals) Cold squid rings, curry that made me wanna leave in a hurry…hardly any meat in them.. all tasted watery and hardly any flavour! Rice that was all clumped together…. chips that just looked so sad and definitely didn’t wanna be there… Now for the Mexican… well let me tell you all, don’t expect this on a Monday evening as the Mexican chef must of quit as there wasn’t even any leftovers from last night! Now for the sweat treats…. Well let’s just say I give my dog more options for her tea! I know all sounds bad yeah…. But there was a big positive and that was walking back out the door within 20 minutes of being there oh and let’s not forget £100 lighter……

One of the best Indian meals I have had. There was a huge selection on the menu and choosing was the hardest thing to do Be adventurous and try something new.

What a surprise! Excellent service, delicious food & good atmosphere worth more than the quick visit we made before the cinema. Will def be back..maybe for the Sunday all day buffet (excellent value)

This restaurant has been a favourite now for a while .. it’s consistently very good with excellent service. The restaurant is next to cinema and has loads of parking. Inside is decorated modern and cosy despite being quite late. Great for large groups as well as more intimate dining. We ordered last time here : Vegetable Korahi Lamb madras Rice Naan Veg starter platter Couldn’t fault anything. Plates served hot too.

First time at this establishment & have to say everything was perfect. To be greeted as we arrived and having the door opened for us was a pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly, polite & attentive, far more so than most other establishments. The food was superb - perfectly proportioned & cooked to perfection. I highly recommend Somerset Masala for its ambiance, courteous staff & last but by no means least the superb food

We ordered for home delivery via just eat, unfortunately the prime ingredient was salt, like drinking sea water. The food could not be eaten, and there was no response when trying to raise the issue. We won’t be going back!

Had a few takeaways and tried the restaurant today, really delicious food, wide choice and friendly staff, best Indian in Taunton!

19.30 booking order not taken until 20.32. Far to long . There was no system in place all a bit hectic. There was a few large tables just not enough staff . Have to say the food was good tho.

Another amazing meal at the Somerset Masala. Great selection of dishes. Staff were great as usual. Restaurant is starting to get more popular now the word is out.

Googled Indian restaurant in area Tried 2 and then tried this restaurant. Best out of 3 . Great service and food was really spot on .Had a madras maybe try a vindallo next as was bit mild . Will be returning when I’m back in area Spacious modern surroundings and staff faultless …great customer service Wish the team great success in future .

When w got in we got seated by a member of staff then just walked away ! Someone else came back ordered the drinks took like 20mins to come the restaurant was not busy two other tables, the larger seemed to been tinned lager and not from a tap, when are starter cam we was half way through and staff trying to take are plates away, happened 5 times was not impressed by this it's just like just wait for use to completely finish first b4 taking the plates away, the main came out was 5 pieces of overcooked chicken and loads of sauce, the rice had red cabbage in it for some reason had to pick around it!! The best thing was the Onion bhajis really tasty!

Great choice of authentic Bangladeshi 🇧🇩 cuisine on the menu, I especially recommend the prawn puri starter, the samosas and can’t really choose between the hottest mains on the menu as they were all banging and perfectly seasoned! 👨🏽‍🍳👨🏽‍🍳👨🏽‍🍳 I do recommend a pineapple raita to calm down the spice of those devilishly hot lamb and chicken dishes with 2 or 3 chilli’s next to them! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥- Highly recommended and we will be back for sure! ✔️

Don't be put off by the location or crazy outside lighting, this is actually a very nice curry house. Recommend it if you are going bowling or to the cinema in the same area. The service friendly was friendly and very quick. We were pleased that you get a decent amount of chutneys with the poppadums (sometimes you go places where there isn't enough for everyone but that wasn't the case here). Couldn't fault the food. Good vegetarian selection.

Came and ate here for the first time and was very impressed. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing and the food was very scrumptious! i would highly recommend this place to eat

Highly recommend this restaurant. Went with 10 people for evening meal & service was excellent, nothing too much trouble, clean & food was all excellent. This will now be our go to Indian for sure in Taunton!!! Thank you for a fab evening

We tried our luck on getting a table, on the 2nd Sept as we was staying in a local hotel for the night. They very kindly accommodated us, a family of 3. Service was excellent, each person was very friendly and professional, we felt very looked after. Food was amazing, if we are ever in the area again we will return, food was tasty, looked gorgeous and we were all full up and satisfied. Thank you to all the team and keep up the amazing service and food

Ordered a takeaway tonight been looking forward to one for ages. ordered and told 45 minutes and it came in 20 minutes. but unfortunately it was lukewarm One dish was very salty, other two other dishes lacking in flavour. Very disappointed still feeling hungry, will not use again.😞

Visiting a friend in Somerset and we went from the local pub to this wonderful curry house. Food was excellent and we struggled to eat it all as the portions are generous. The cocktails are a real treat and well priced. Service was attentive and very friendly. Definitely recommend and one of the best curries we've had in years.

Very nice Indian restaurant. Excellent quality level of food served very similar to what I tasted in India. A true surprise. Clean and cozy place. The staff is gentle and competent. Strongly recommend.

We visited with friends on a Saturday evening and had a fantastic meal. The food was excellent and staff were attentive. We will be back and definitely recommend to all.

2nd visit to see if 1st was just a one off … no it wasn’t! Starters of Shaslick and Chicken cigars were beautifully presented and so tasty. Mains of Chicken Badam and Railway Lamb were equally impressive. Simply can’t fault the quality, the service. (My partner considers it is one of the best she has ever eaten). Cost was £60 for both including 1 beer and a lemonade which by today’s prices was not bad. Well done to the chef!

In Driving past this Venue it usually looks empty or closed during the day . Don't be fooled . ! This little gem needs closer inspection ! The decor is warm and inviting . As are the attentive staff. The tables are spaced nicely , we sat by the window . The menu lists a great selection of foods . We had Poppadum and mixed pickles . A great start , to our main course . Drinks arrived prior to the starter . Beer on tap, a good selection of wines and soft drinks . Reasonably priced . Unsure of what to select from the menu ? Ask the staff to suggest for you. They are very knowledgeable about their menu and are very happy to help. Main choice 1 . Chicken Tikka Shashlik . A form of Shish Kebab , tender chicken pieces skewered with onions an peppers and Pilau rice . Pleasing to eye, beautifully served and a treat for the palate. Main choice 2. Lamb Biriyani. Another great dish . Spicier than other Biryani's I have tried. The meat was tender ,lean and a pleasure to eat . This came in one dish no extra sauce or vegetable.. but if you like a little heat this would please you . As anticipated in " Good " Restaurants we were asked if everything was ok. This was timely and not minutes into the first mouthful. It truly was a delight . We left following a hot wipes to refresh hands and an after dinner mint . I am happy to recommend this experience.

We were looking for somewhere near our hotel to have dinner with our daughter and friends, I spotted this place on an earlier walk so thought we would give it a go. We were not sure what to expect, but received a very warm welcome and excellent service. The food & drinks were delivered to our table promptly and with care. The food was absolutely delicious, reasonably priced and we all left very full but so happy with our experience. Should we find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely be paying a return visit. Thank you so much 😊
