Amazing place and an authentic experience. Only 3 items on the menu for dinner but this makes it a lot more simple. We had butter chicken which was delicious. Everything served in small dishes so you can make it up yourself depending on what you want. Highly recommend this place but make sure you book!

Really good food. Unusual to have an Indian restaurant with such a small menu, but all quality. Probably the best Indian food I have tasted and I have been eating Indian food for a lot of years now. Can't praise the restaurant enough.

Fantastic tasty and nicely unique

Visited for the second time and this time I was accompanied with friends, we were thoroughly impressed by both the food and the hospitality. The friendly staff and quality of the food made our evening special. We started with drinks and poppadoms, which were served with three mouthwatering chutneys: mango, pineapple, and beetroot. The pineapple chutney, in particular, was a standout—such an extensive blend of flavors that my partner and I absolutely loved. For the main course, we ordered Kadhai Paneer and Lamb, both served with rice, potato curry, and lentils. My friends were delighted with the Lamb curry, praising its tender texture and perfectly balanced spice. Although my partner isn’t usually fond of Kadhai curry, but rich Kadhai paneer gravy stood out well. The lentils reminded me of home, with their well-cooked texture and perfect consistency. My friends also ordered Mango Lassi, and they couldn’t have been happier with their choice. Overall, it was a memorable experience, made even better by the kind and generous owner. If you’re in search of a great Indian meal or just love curries, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Visited twice in the last 2 weeks, the first being the first time I had ever entered this magical little restaurant. You haven’t tried Indian cuisine until you visit this exceptional restaurant in Taunton. The staff are very welcoming & attentive to your needs in a relaxed very pleasant atmosphere. But back to where the real difference is & that’s the food. I’ve had plenty of curry’s over the years with various sides, all basically looking & tasting the same with various levels of heat, but here the presentation & the ingredients are just so good, it’s like you’ve never had tasty well presented Indian food before. Defiantly the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been in my life. Compliments to the chef who obviously has a passion for food, if the Ivy did Indian cuisine then this is how it would look & taste. The Samosas are simply the tastes food ever & worth a visit here for them alone 😀

Looked for a nice Indian restaurant en route to Devon and saw this lovely restaurant highly rated. Had a fantastic meal and made very welcome by lovely staff, even gave us some toys to keep our little ones occupied. Would highly recommend.

Made a last minute booking here for 10. The food was stunning and so was the service. I really liked the Prawn starter as it was very crispy and unlike anything I had had before. The mains were also divine, especially the chicken curry. Well done, Guddi and Gikki, keep it up!

I’ve been coming here on and on for a few years now. It’s amazingly good. It’s a family run place and so welcoming. Food is brilliant and although it’s a small menu the food is something special. Highly recommend the masala tea to finish.

I recently dined at this fantastic Indian restaurant in Taunton and was thoroughly impressed. Authentic Indian cuisine, crafted by a talented chef, had a perfect balance of spices. I especially loved the homemade pickles, which were full of flavors, with the pineapple pickle being an absolute standout. The concept of serving Thali fascinated me and portion size is great. We enjoyed lamb curry for the main course and Maachi Amritsari for starters, would highly recommended it. The dessert menu was heavenly, and my partner thoroughly relished the Gulab Jamun served with ice cream. The ambience was wonderful, complemented by a lovely Bollywood music playlist. The friendly and kind staff made the experience even better. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, and this is the best Indian restaurant we’ve found in Taunton so far.

An authentic Indian restaurant run by an amazing family.

Absolutely sublime food served by a welcoming and friendly team. The homemade pickles with the poppadoms include a beetroot pickle and curried pineapple, both of which are beautiful. The lamb Rogan Josh served with rice, Bombay aloo and dhal work together perfectly with no element overpowering another. The naans are light and fresh and not swamped in oil as some can be.

Six of us had travelled up from Devon for a day out and had read about this lovely little restaurant so thought we'd try it. We received a very nice welcome and seen to our seats, the service was very friendly and helpful, the food was absolutely delicious and we didn't ever feel rushed. nNot a huge menu but they had, they certainly knew how to cook.. We had a mix of Lamg Rogan Josh and Butter Chicken and everyone ate the lot with great enjoyment... We would all thoroughly recommend a visit to this Indian restaurant if you're in Taunton. Wonderful little restaurant. Slightly unusual for an Indian restaurant (in my experience) for having a very short menu that changes frequently. Dishes feel very authentic, not generic. We shared a mixed platter starter, followed by butter chicken and lamb rogan mains. Both main dishes included rice plus individual servings of daal and aloo. Service was also excellent, staff seem to really care about their customers. Casual, unpretentious decor makes for a relaxed experience. Definitely recommended.

Wow, we can’t belief the last review! We’ve been eating at Guddi and Gikki’s for five or six years and have probably clocked up over 120 meals between the two of us. Mostly as a couple, but also family/friends’ get togethers. Never a bad meal, always great service, and as a vegetarian and vegan couple, we have always felt that we have been considerately accommodated with choice. No surprise then that our vegan and vegetarian friends and family also rate it highly. It’s by no means overpriced, and the cost properly reflects the high quality of the menu. The food is sensational whilst the ongoing tweaks and changes to the dishes keeps things fresh and exciting. Donsters, you are one hell of an uptight diner! First name Sabotage, second name Donsters?? Donsters’ last review of a different venue was in 2015 when a 1 out of 5 was also given? The response of that establishment clearly says it all, but Donsters hadn’t listened. Donsters needs to be more inquisitive, ask appropriate questions and explain their needs respectfully, rather than being grumpy and vacuous. If you can’t afford the prices, or if you are unable to appreciate the value of what’s on offer, then do keep your promise and stay away. I’d hate for you to spoil one of my evenings. Keep the fabulous food flowing please G&G.

Service was really good but the food was quite bland but very spicy to cover for a lack of other flavour. I don’t mind a bit of heat but we chose the least spicy options on a very limited menu. Chicken came with bones in, which can happen but one piece was a large sharp piece of bone that really should have been spotted. Portions are also very small for very high prices.

As a vegan I was told they 'absolutely' could cater for me. They clearly could not. Dreadful and over priced. No idea how to cater for a vegan. Will not be going again.

We've been a few times, normally with friends with allergies (from onions to nuts) or our vegan friends, and every time everyone is very well fed and looked after. The food is delicious and everyone is always really lovely!

This was a wonderful little find and we can certainly recommend the food. It might be a small menu but everything we had was full of flavour and beautifully spiced. Such a friendly, unique place. Give it a try.

This is the best ‘Indian’ you could hope to have within the Somerset area. The staff are always helpful and friendly, the room decor is pleasant, but most importantly the food is absolutely excellent. The owners cook everything from fresh local produce with extreme care. Once you try the mixed platter starter you will go back for more every time. The choice of chicken, veg/paneer or lamb for your main is outstanding, all accompanied with rice, dal and Bombay potato. I fully recommend the fig nan bread on the side. This is a restaurant not to be missed.

First time here, with my daughter. Limited menu but frankly that makes choosing easier! Very friendly staff. Food was fantastic. Very tasty. The Peshwari Naan was fabulous.

The best Indian meal we've had in UK for a very long time, if ever and by some margin. It's not cheap, but IMHO well worth the extra. Everything is homemade by a clearly talented Chef who presented the food well and had it served on hot plates promptly with a big smile. If I was to nitpick I'd suggest a stronger auto-door closer to keep the entrance door shut, the cold night air out and the warm and friendly atmosphere in. See you soon......:-)

Enjoyed our third meal here and it really is delicious food served by lovely staff in a lovely atmospheric restaurant. Starters are great - there aren't many choices of main (one lamb, one chicken and one vegetarian) but what you get is fantastic. There aren't any vegan main courses on the menu but if you ask in advance they will cook one for you - they have cooked me a fantastic aubergine dish. All mains come with rice, Bombay aloo and tarka dhal. The naan breads are delicious and my partner said the home-made pistachio kulfi is amazing. My only slight complaint is that the wines aren't that great but if you ask they are happy for you to bring your own and pay corkage...or you can have a beer! Definitely worth the trip from Bristol for a curry - it's that good!

Warm welcome and excellent food on a cold night in a quiet weekday in Taunton. Really very impressed by the Butter Chicken with came with rice, daal and Bombay Aloo. Will definitely return and highly commend.

Not good value. Ordered starters and a main. Dishes did come presented very well, and the service was friendly but intermittent. I would go again as it is one of the better options in Taunton for Indian food. I didn't feel like I was having takeaway quality food at a restaurant - as I have felt at other Indian Restaurants in Taunton. The dishes were not particularly spicy, so if you like spice - make sure to mention it!

Really friendly staff!!! We arrived in Taunton late in the evening looking for somewhere to eat, despite the closing time they let us in and made us eat some delicious starters, without any rush. We will return to try the other dishes on the Menu.

Lovely down to earth curry, staff so helpful

Exceptional food, good quality, friendly and efficient staff. Last evening we had a wonderful time, over 20 of us saying farewell to a good friend and colleague. Chan and the team did everything possible to make things go smoothly, considering all requests, and ensuring we were all catered for. We could not have wished for anything better, the food was exceptional, sufficient and there were smilies all round! If you too want a great Indian meal, value for money, but not at the expense of quality you now know where to go. A big thanks.

Delicious food. Every dish was so flavourful. Mains are served with rice, Bombay aloo and lentil daal, all of which were lovely and an enjoyable touch that you wouldn’t get in other Indian restaurants. Staff were lovely. I’m already looking forward to going back so I can try more of their starters.

Spur of the moment evening, checked google and ended up here. I have walked past this place hundreds of times, and didn’t realise it was a restaurant! We didn’t book, arrived not long after opening. They found us a table -we were lucky as within 30 minutes it was packed. Lovely decor, friendly and efficient staff. Loved the food, authentic and minimalistic menu, cooked perfectly. We will be back (next time we will be sure to book first!)

Fantastic food anc the staff were excellent. Would recommend the platter to start - a real opportunity to sample some brilliant flavours. The prawns were one of the best starters I've had. A word too,for the chutneys, please bottle and sell, the pineapple Chutney - I want more The mains were excellent- we had the lamb and the chicken. Both were cexceptional. Really nice to have the rice, bombay potato and dahl as part of the meal. The dahl and naan were a combination made in heaven. All in a great meal and exceptional value for the quality of the food and the service.

Had the most wonderful meal at the weekend, in I believe one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to a lot!) typically a Indian menu is a list of 50 items, not here, the menu is stripped now to 5/6 started and three main courses. Less is certainly more, everything was delicious. It felt like we were in there kitchen having a family meal. We were only in Taunton for one night but we hit the jackpot! The dessert too was a marvel - Rose ice cream was amazing. Speaking to the owner you can really see her passion for food. Try it

A fantastic experience with a lovely atmosphere and great food

Super, first class food snd service. Meals all tasted fab and fresh. The Chicken my wife had was perfect, flavoursome, balanced spices and served with perfect rice, Dahl and potatoes. My lamb curry was spiced so well and the meat very tender.

Honestly best curry iv had that wasn't served at an indian household since I left Birmingham! This taste and authenticity was amazing! They really make the effort to make sure it's real and hospitable like you would have if you visited their home.

Portion sizes were good ... naan breads were perfect. Variety very limited but covered most dietary requirements. Staff were lovely and accommodating. Ladies toilet had a broken seat considering its for disabled needs as well could be an issue for some. Pudding was teas coffee ice cream and dough balls but when it arrived just one small doughball and small scoop of ice cream for an unjustified price. Decor was nice. Chef came to visit table after meal which was nice.

Quite simply the best Indian cuisine we have ever had. No other words needed really. At first glance you might think ‘limited menu’ but that is usually a good thing. All 3 courses from all 3 diners voted ‘best ever Indian’.

Really disappointed as we were really looking forward to this place .the starter was ok .nothing special .the popadoms came after the starter the chef came and asked if we had already had them as it was ticked off .We had not .we had an hour wait for our main course and I have to say we eat out weekly as love Indian food and our meal was terrible the curry had four lumps of chicken in sauce in a small desert bowl a smaller bowl of wet boiled rice a smaller again bowl which had one potato cube in sauce .SO Disappointing !waste of money !! The only reason I gave it one star is the lady was very smiley and despite terrible food her heart was there !

Get closer to the real deal - a step up from your average curry house. Most authentic curry I’ve eaten anywhere in England.

Been wanting to come and try Guddi and Gikki for some time and this place doesn't disappoint. The menu is small but that's a good think. We had poppadoms and pickles to share and they were like none that we had had before. Really lovely homemade chutney and an explanation from our waitress when she out them down. All the main courses come with rice, saag and dhal but we added a pashwari naan as well. Full bellies!!!! The taste and flavours are wonderful, really well made, simple food. I had the mutta panneer and Jo had the chicken. No room for a pudding mind. A full restaurant when we left at 9pm which can't be bad at all. £17.50 for a main isnt bad when you get so much. Will definitely go back. Highly recommended.
