Our first visit. We had the tasting menu which was great. Tried a few new things. Everything was excellent. The staff were very friendly and explained each dish when we received it. Will definitely go again

We came here because a new neighbour, who is very particular about her food, suggested this was a very authentic Indian restaurant, she was not wrong. First, do not be off put by the frontage of this restaurant, there is a gem behind it. We enjoyed a menu that was not just the same old same old, the service exemplary and not rushed. The explanation of the dishes and their make up was welcome. Not a huge restaurant which makes for a very pleasant ambience. Asking for things slightly off menu was not a problem(i mean spicier) Rarely do we leave anything but in this instance because after two courses we were well satisfied. We will be back.

We had the tasting menu which was very nice and good value for money .All the dishes were explained to us.Service was very efficient and the whole experience takes 2 hours so you are not rushed.

Wow. I cannot praise this lovely cosy restaurant enough. Small enough to be intimate if you are a couple But large enough for the office party. Great food. Authentic cuisine. No bland tomato sauce dominant sauces here. Delicious from start to finish. Lots of meat. Great choices. Not just the run of the mill. Lovely obliging friendly staff. Nice ambience. We will be back. Again and again.

We chose Turmeric Kitchen as it advertises a separate vegetarian menu and as we last had an acceptable dosa about 35 years ago! We were bowled over by the friendly staff, great atmosphere and amazing food. Everything was perfect! With three vegetarians in our group, it was important that there was an adequate selection for us to choose from. The restaurant surpassed on all fronts. A HUGE choice of veggie food and a personal explanation from the waiters as each course was served. The whole evening was a triumph. The cost was not too expensive and certainly in line with the quality of the food served. The only advice I would give is to book ahead, as it was very busy.

Lovely meal with lots suitable For vegetarian and gluten free. My dad had forgotten his glasses and when we jokingly asked if he had a spare pair, he came out with a tray of reading glasses of varying strength! It was very impressive and honestly made our evening!! The food and service was really lovely

The venue is small and not the reason I am recommendeding it. The service e, the fooemd and the staff are what makes this the best Indian restaurant in Taunton. The menu is varied, the owner/manager is charming and knowledgeable, and the food is beautifully cooked. I would highly recommend this Restaurant which served a dosa that is as good as those at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Bombay (Mumbai) if you want to be modern. I would highly recommend this restaurant which is worth a visit at any time. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Went for Valentines Tasting Menu on Feb 14th. Food was fantastic, as usual, and they made a big effort to decorate the restaurant for Valentine's Day. We both had the "meat" menu and enjoyed every morsel, it seemed like the majority of people were actually having the Vegan menu and I must say that all looked and smelled wonderful too. Not often (ie never), can I say that I'd have happily had the Vegan option myself.

I remember when this venue was French Connection in Taunton, and that place transported me back to France and reminded me of holidays. Tumeric Kitchen now transports me back to India. I was lucky enough to work in India a number of years back and the authenticity of the food served here is amazing. This was my first visit and I will be a regular visitor going forward. We had the tasting menu, every dish was so good. The service was great and the courses served were spaced out perfectly for the 2 hours we were there.

We’ve just gotten home after a wonderful meal here! We tried the tasting menu and were blown away! What a fantastic, unhurried, beautiful meal we both had. The food was excellent, with great portion size, and we were both left full to the brim! My girlfriend even complemented them on the plates and cutlery!! We will 100% be going back and would recommend to anyone, 5* easily. Well Done

This is our favourite Indian in Taunton. Always good food and great service. Can get very busy understandably, so its wise to reserve before you go to avoid disappointment.

We had a great meal at Turmeric Kitchen today. It's great to find somewhere that offers proper South Indian food, with a really original menu including lots of veggie/vegan options. Everything that we had was beautifully cooked with great flavours, and it's also nice that the curries aren't swimming in oil as they are at so many other places. Couldn't fault the service either.

Had the special tasting menu with friends. It was so good I went back and had it again a week later with my wife.

I travel miles to eat here! The food is excellent and the service is first class. Never tried fried ice cream before and it’s delicious- don’t be put off by the name! The trio of chicken starters was sublime.

Had a wonderful lunch here today. I love that the food gives an authentic experience, not just the usual British Indian cuisine that has become commonplace. Great to travel away to other places through a meal, which you are able to do here. Try the Dosa! Oh, and also, really great Vegan options - they do a Vegan Peshwari Naan 🤩. There are some of the usual suspects on the menu, like the Korma, which the kids always seem to love. Great intuitive and friendly service

We ordered a takeaway from Turmeric Kitchen after hearing such good things about them. Unfortunately I think they’ve become a victim of their own hype and, as a result, perhaps cannot cope with the demand. I ordered the takeaway (two curries, one rice, one naan and some poppadums) via Turmeric Kitchen’s website at 6:34pm to arrive asap. The “pre-order” time came up as 7:55pm. That’s fine, just over an hour is okay because they’re managing expectations. It got to 7:57pm and still no sign so I called them. It became apparent that our food hadn’t even been cooked. We were told it would be 15 minutes. It got to 8:15pm, still nothing, so I called again. From conversations in the background it seemed that our food still hadn’t been cooked. The person on the phone was apologetic and said the order would be on its way now. I asked for a refund and was told that they would call me back once the food arrived to discuss this. The food finally arrived at 8:36pm - over two hours after ordering. The food itself was nice; the butter chicken and chicken kadia sauces were really nice but some of the chunks of chicken were too large and had dried out. I have no doubt that if you were eating in the restaurant you would have an enjoyable time. I would give that a try. They should just be open about managing customers’ expectations regarding timings. The manager called me a day later to apologise and refunded half of the cost of the takeaway. They assured me that the situation with the timing was a one-off. I’m glad they tried to rectify the situation.

Good quality food. Poppadoms nice freshly made, however dip selection disappointing. Small restaurant, but clean, bit noisy when busy. One of better places in Taunton.

Food was in the wrong pots so plated the wrong meals, when I tasted the spice I’d hoped when I had my actual ‘mild meal’ I’d enjoy it yet there was no flavour just pure spice. Between a chicken tikka, butter chicken, peshwari naan and pilau rice I could only eat the naan and rice. Both the tikka and butter chicken were extremely spicy and inedible as I dont like spicy food (hence the butter chicken and chicken tikka).

We Pre ordered our food, when it was due to be delivered it was cancelled. We had a big order for a family get together, chose this place as seen in the local news they had won an award. Very disappointed, won’t be bothering again. Now last minute we have to order from else where.

We waited 3 hours for our delivery and it still didn’t come, after calling several times and told it was on way, this isn’t the first time it’s happened. They are obviously too busy in the restaurant to keep up with deliveries. We had to cancel the order in the end and I have to contact the restaurant about the refund

What a great food experience! So tasty, and not the run of the mill Indian restaurant either. A very big selection of food that is Veggy and Vegan, which was a pleasant suprise. Tasty, well presented food all night. We will definitely be back. Have to say, I think this is the best Indian in Taunton.

Wrote on the order please don’t ring doorbell knock quietly as baby asleep. Knocked extra loud AND rang the doorbell. Great. Total order was £44 which is ok for what we ordered for 2 people but the poppadoms, pickle tray and pilau rice we ordered were all missing - £11.35 of food which we didn’t get. I rang the restaurant when I realized and they just offered a free onion pakora next time- but there won’t be a next time. The food was variable- dosa and naan brilliant, jalfrezi not great and the paratha roti was very odd and not nice. I’ll be looking for a refund for the food we didn’t get.

Absolutely the worse curry I have ever had.I had chicken spinach curry.very very dark green.no taste apart from hot chilli powder.there was so much spinach that it separated and I was left with a plate swimming in water with dark green spinach on top.to make it worse my daughters was uneatable too.Also i paid before we came back to collect and I was accused in front of diners of not paying.

I visited here today for lunch with my partner to celebrate our engagement. A lovely clean , fairly small restaurant, simple but crisp decor, the waiter was friendly and professional and the food was absolutely delicious, the best Indian meal I have had in years! There is a full vegan and vegetarian menu which I chose from. I would definitely recommend a visit . Fantastic !!

Best curry I have had outside of India, if you want proper Indian food then Tumeric65 is as authentic as you can get! Amazing Dosa and Biryani and other household indian dishes you dont get as a 'typical' Indian restaurant!

While the poppadom dips were delicious, a tad more would have been perfect. Nonetheless, this minor detail did not overshadow the overall wonderful experience. Authentically beautiful food. I've used turmeric kitchen for a long while now, eat in and take away never disappoint. I'm a huge admirer of good traditional Indian cuisine and the menu covers many traditions of Indian dining from south (kerala) to goan. Our favourite in Taunton for sure. Staff are absolutely lovely allow you space and guide you amazingly if you're in doubt.

Really brilliant food and very nice and friendly service. This is a hidden gem in this area. Tried the tasting menu and it was well worth it. Really nice to get an overview of a different selection of dishes and all of them were really enjoyable. The food is far more than the usual Saturday night microwaved Indian. It really was well crafted authentic restaurant level food. Really recommended.

What a wonderful find! Visited Taunton for the day with friends and booked a table in advance online based on the extensive vegan menu. So much choice for everyone, but the variation in vegan options was fab. Food tasted great and was really well presented. Service was very good.

Once you go to Tumeric Kitchen... you won't go back! Service is exceptional, always shown such kindness from the members of staff here. The food quality is the best in the game, feels very authentic to India and there's a noticeable 'freshness' (lack of oil, no cheap food.. etc) with their dishes. Highly doubtful that we'll be dining at another Indian again after coming here. I'd rate higher than 5 if possible :)

Best restaurant in Taunton! The service is absolutely impeccable, very polite, friendly and helpful. There are great options of authentic/traditional and English dishes. Lots of veggie and vegan options as well. Everything is fresh and very flavorful as well as presented beautifully. Nice ambient music and a great place to visit. Can't think of any faults, this place is great, definitely try it!

I would definitely recommend Turmeric Kitchen. I had the Indian beef curry which was absolutely fantastic. I also ordered the paratha, which was the best I've had so far, and I've tried a few. The service was very good, and prompt. My only very minor grudge was the amount of dips accompanying the poppadoms, the dips were good, just needed a tablespoon spoon more. I attended with a friend, just for a curry and a pint, and we weren't disappointed. Will definitely come again.

Most excellent meal from the taster menu. The quality of the food here is excellent - fresh, bursting with individual flavours and beautifully presented. The restaurant could be smarter but it is very clean and tidy with excellent staff.

Tumeric Kitchen offers the best dishes from each of the South Indian states. Unless you're familiar with South Indian cuisine, come prepared to try new things! My party tried the innovative Idli and mini dosa starters, which were followed by a Village style vegetable curry and the Vegetable Saagwala, Majestic Lamb and Majectic Vegetable curries. All the main dishes were excellent, well presented and helpfully introduced by the staff. Tumeric Kitchen's owner took the time to explain the restaurant's method and the historical and cultural context of their dishes to us between our courses, which was much appreciated and made for a really unique experience. I highly recommend this restaurant and will certainly be visiting again.

Excellent takeaway and food was lovely

I've eaten in this restaurant a couple of times and have always been amazed at how good it is, and decided to get a takeaway tonight. I ordered a vegetable korma- not the most daring choice, I know. I'm really sad to say it wasn't great. It was most definitely creamy, but to the point of being a bit slimey, and didn't really have a great deal of taste. The onion pagodas, naan and rice were wonderful, so I'll avoid the korma in future.

This has got to be one of the BEST curry places in town. The chattinad chicken is our go to. The flavour and the chicken is cooked to perfection. But all the other dishes we have tried are incredible tasty. We have at times ordered Tumeric kitchen every week or at least been tempted to. This place is a must try if you haven’t yet! You won’t find a dish you don’t like. Also the gentlemen that deliver are super nice! Have yet to dine in but it’s bound to happen.

Absolutely amazing! After accidentally missing our train stop in Exeter for an Indian and ending up in Taunton, we couldn't of asked for a more perfect accident. By far and away the best Indian I've had in a looooooong time. Worth the trip up from Torquay and shall be doing it again in the new year!!
