Superb food - wonderful hosts & a friendly, unpretentious setting. I have to say this is the best meal I’ve had in years. Surely this is the best South Indian cooking in the South West - if not the UK. We left the restaurant on a real high. Thank you so much for a really special evening. Everything was first class ❤️

We had a taster meal at the Turmeric Kitchen 65. We had never been before, the food was amazing, the service was second to none and they even took the time to explain what the individual dishes were so you knew which one you were trying. Definitely recommend and will be returning 😊

We attended the Onam festival for a traditional vegetarian feast. We had very good service and welcomed the explanations about the various dishes served on bananas leaves.

Went here for dinner and would happily recommend it to anyone based on our experience. We ordered starters (Mini Dosa and Gobi 65) and mains (Tarka Dal and Hyderabadi dum Biryani) and everything arrived in good time, looked great and, most importantly, tasted wonderful. The service was excellent and the staff made sure that we were happy throughout our meal. Next time we're in Taunton we'll definitely be back.

We have been to Turmeric kitchen a number of times in preparation for our wedding. Niranjan the owner has looked after us so well every time! We had our wedding yesterday and the food was amazing! We had a vision of a relaxed help yourself buffet and these guys delivered. The staff are so welcoming and the food is delicious! Wether you are just thinking about coming here for the evening or you need caterers for an event Turmeric is the place to go! A special thanks again to Niranjan and the chefs for all their hard work!

Amazing south Indian cuisine. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish perfectly preserving the authentic South Indian flavors.

Stumbled upon this gaff after a trip to the cricket whilst holidaying. It was very busy but they managed to squeeze the wife and I in. Warm and friendly service (if a little slow but entirely understandable given we hadn't booked). The food was superb, South Indian cuisine, they do have a few of the usual suspects but we avoided those. The lamb dosa was AWESOME. The pancake thing was super crispy and tasty and perfect for dipping into the various sauces and the filling was delicious. Starters were also very good. So much better than yet another generic chicken Tikka.

Will stop just short of 5 stars for chicken 65. Biryani was good quantity. Staff were very pleasant. But they really ought to add plasticware or wooden spoons/forks with the order. Include paper napkins as well. Chicken 65 is one of my all time favorite dishes and I gauge a restaurant's food based on among other things, that dish. As you can see in the picture, it was a measly few pieces and it while it tasted ok, that's not how it should be. Parking is a pain for tourists. Locals might find it easy. Kothu paratha needs to be consistently of one spice level. Ordered regular one day and we enjoyed it. Ordered the same few days later and we couldn't finish it.

I always like to start with the positives and a positives for this establishment is the portions were small. Some may see this is a negative but for me it was definitely a positive, because after the first mouthful of eating their food I was overjoyed to know there wasn't too much to put in the bin. Onion pakora, note to the chef, (you do not need to add chilli powder let alone a lot of it) The mint dipping sauce was entertaining, do you know you can actually hold the tub upside down and put it over your head without any coming out. Not so much a sauce more a paste. Basic curry flavorless but again no to the chef you don't need chili powder in everything you do. Chicken tikka masala again chili powder. Chicken tikka masalas are not supposed to be spicy. If you could also hold back on the salt that would be fantastic. Again another dish flavorless just spice and heat. Certainly did not fare well after eating we've digestion and other. This is a place I would not recommend unless you like salty very spicy food, portion sizes are ridiculously small compared to the majority of Indian establishments throughout the UK. This is all the personal review, as I know many people do like just take away but for me it's one I shall never be returning too.

6 of us entered after rugby training, very hungry. We left full, happy and very satisfied! The service was great, the food was even better! We’ll be back with more of the team next time!

Niranjan and his team catered for my daughter’s 21st birthday, providing vegetarian and chicken curry, pakoras, rice and naan bread. He also provided food warmers. We have used Turmeric kitchen several times for catering for larger groups. Excellent service and reliably delicious food. Thankyou .

We came here to celebrate my wife's 60th, and decided to use the starters menu like tapas - smaller amounts of more things. We both had a mini-dosa, filled with potato with two sauces. We also ordered the pepper grilled lamb - juicy chunks of lamb with onions and their signature gravy. We also had the Keralan Tiger Prawns, four of them with two sauces, crispy and delicious. We finally had the Aubergine Pakora, slices of aubergine deep fried with tamarind and mint sauce on top - crispy and also delicious. The food here is first class, and the service comes with a smile, we really love it.

Was my 1st time to a south indian restaurant sadly the food was not to my liking. I'm sure as south indian food it was probably good but like I said it wasn't for me . This is not a bad review just honest. I'll stick with what I know from now on

Was in the area and drove over 30mins to this place as the ratings were good. Well all I can say is don't bother everything was tastless and bland. The breads had the bare minimum fillings Only thing was nice was the fresh poppadoms Soft drinks tasted flat. Confused how this place has won many awards.

Took two hours for a delivery to arrive after ordering online at 7.10pm when the delivery estimate was 45 minutes on your site. I would’ve rather you cancelled my order due to being busy rather than wanting to keep my money and deliver almost 1.5 hours late. I ended up having to call to chase my order at 8:30pm, and again at 9pm. The order arrived at 9.10pm. If like on other reviews, you say you’re sorry and that you’re busy on Saturday nights, don’t advertise the delivery time being 45 minutes on your website as this is totally misleading. We won’t be ordering via Turmeric Kitchen again as it’s completely unreasonable to make people wait 2 hours for their order without any form of communication.

This restaurant used to be very good but the kadia lamb we ordered last night was so dry and seemed like it had been warmed up from the night before no sauce whatsoever.We were very disappointed.

We came here because a new neighbour, who is very particular about her food, suggested this was a very authentic Indian restaurant, she was not wrong. First, do not be off put by the frontage of this restaurant, there is a gem behind it. We enjoyed a menu that was not just the same old same old, the service exemplary and not rushed. The explanation of the dishes and their make up was welcome. Not a huge restaurant which makes for a very pleasant ambience. Asking for things slightly off menu was not a problem(i mean spicier) Rarely do we leave anything but in this instance because after two courses we were well satisfied. We will be back.

Wow. I cannot praise this lovely cosy restaurant enough. Small enough to be intimate if you are a couple But large enough for the office party. Great food. Authentic cuisine. No bland tomato sauce dominant sauces here. Delicious from start to finish. Lots of meat. Great choices. Not just the run of the mill. Lovely obliging friendly staff. Nice ambience. We will be back. Again and again.

We chose Turmeric Kitchen as it advertises a separate vegetarian menu and as we last had an acceptable dosa about 35 years ago! We were bowled over by the friendly staff, great atmosphere and amazing food. Everything was perfect! With three vegetarians in our group, it was important that there was an adequate selection for us to choose from. The restaurant surpassed on all fronts. A HUGE choice of veggie food and a personal explanation from the waiters as each course was served. The whole evening was a triumph. The cost was not too expensive and certainly in line with the quality of the food served. The only advice I would give is to book ahead, as it was very busy.

The food they serve is mainly South Indian food which is different from the other Indian restaurant. S. Indian food does contain cheese or nuts. The food was delicious. Certainly eat South Indian food like dosa or idlli and vada rather than Naan etc.

Lovely meal with lots suitable For vegetarian and gluten free. My dad had forgotten his glasses and when we jokingly asked if he had a spare pair, he came out with a tray of reading glasses of varying strength! It was very impressive and honestly made our evening!! The food and service was really lovely

Best Indian in Taunton. We have tried almost every Indian restaurant in town and this is now our go to place. The food here is esquisite. I can't tell you how much I love the majestic lamb. We have have tried fair few things off the menu and they are all superb. They are inventive unique and above all delicious dishes. Enjoy!

I ordered catering for a 20 person event. The food ws really delicious with great fresh taste, whole spices and just really well cooked. We had samosas and chicken tikka starters, along with the cauliflower 65. The chicken vanished so I didn;t get to try that. The samosas were pea and potato and just very well spiced with a lovely soft outer casing. Cauliflower had a great spicy kick and weren't too hard or overdone For the main course we had lamb majestic and the village chicken curry along with, aloo saag, pilau rice and plain naan. The lamb was lean, deep and satisfying with dark warming spices and the chicken was tender, medium spicy but really tasty sauce including crushed coriander seeds and green cardomom. the saag was really tasty and I saw one diner eating a big bowl of it with a spoon! Everyone had seconds and there was still a bit to take home which tasted great as a late night snack. Arranging the catering was incredibly easy and I was more than happy with the food, and the really nice, helpful guys who brought and collected the serving dishes. I highly recommend Turmeric 65 for event catering.

Incredibly late with no proper discount offered

The venue is small and not the reason I am recommendeding it. The service e, the fooemd and the staff are what makes this the best Indian restaurant in Taunton. The menu is varied, the owner/manager is charming and knowledgeable, and the food is beautifully cooked. I would highly recommend this Restaurant which served a dosa that is as good as those at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Bombay (Mumbai) if you want to be modern. I would highly recommend this restaurant which is worth a visit at any time. Thank you for a lovely evening.

3rd time coming here. Was looking forward to it for a birthday treat but found it a little underwhelming this time. Had the goan fish and Kerala king prawn curry. Both were essentially just sauces with a few bits of fish and prawns in them and nothing else really. Only 4 smallish pieces of fish. King prawn starter just had 4 prawns. The other side dishes weren't as tasty as I remember previously. Drinks are on the expensive side. The whole meal was nearly £100 for 3 of us which we thought a bit steep, particularly as we're a little disappointed with food this time.

Went for Valentines Tasting Menu on Feb 14th. Food was fantastic, as usual, and they made a big effort to decorate the restaurant for Valentine's Day. We both had the "meat" menu and enjoyed every morsel, it seemed like the majority of people were actually having the Vegan menu and I must say that all looked and smelled wonderful too. Not often (ie never), can I say that I'd have happily had the Vegan option myself.

We recently dined at Turmeric Kitchen with friends and were thoroughly impressed by the authentic South Indian cuisine. The extensive selection of starters and mains offered a delightful array of flavors, showcasing the chef's skill and expertise. Not surprised that Turmeric Kitchen has won top awards. Even better than the exemplary and varied menu is the friendly and helpful service, with personal explanations of the dishes chosen. Guaranteed a top meal at a very reasonable price.

I remember when this venue was French Connection in Taunton, and that place transported me back to France and reminded me of holidays. Tumeric Kitchen now transports me back to India. I was lucky enough to work in India a number of years back and the authenticity of the food served here is amazing. This was my first visit and I will be a regular visitor going forward. We had the tasting menu, every dish was so good. The service was great and the courses served were spaced out perfectly for the 2 hours we were there.

We’ve just gotten home after a wonderful meal here! We tried the tasting menu and were blown away! What a fantastic, unhurried, beautiful meal we both had. The food was excellent, with great portion size, and we were both left full to the brim! My girlfriend even complemented them on the plates and cutlery!! We had a great meal at Turmeric Kitchen today. It's great to find somewhere that offers proper South Indian food, with a really original menu including lots of veggie/vegan options. Everything that we had was beautifully cooked with great flavours, and it's also nice that the curries aren't swimming in oil as they are at so many other places. Couldn't fault the service either.

I travel miles to eat here! The food is excellent and the service is first class. Never tried fried ice cream before and it’s delicious- don’t be put off by the name! The trio of chicken starters was sublime.

Had a wonderful lunch here today. I love that the food gives an authentic experience, not just the usual British Indian cuisine that has become commonplace. Great to travel away to other places through a meal, which you are able to do here. Try the Dosa! Oh, and also, really great Vegan options - they do a Vegan Peshwari Naan 🤩. There are some of the usual suspects on the menu, like the Korma, which the kids always seem to love. Great intuitive and friendly service

We ordered a takeaway from Turmeric Kitchen after hearing such good things about them. Unfortunately I think they’ve become a victim of their own hype and, as a result, perhaps cannot cope with the demand. I ordered the takeaway (two curries, one rice, one naan and some poppadums) via Turmeric Kitchen’s website at 6:34pm to arrive asap. The “pre-order” time came up as 7:55pm. That’s fine, just over an hour is okay because they’re managing expectations. It got to 7:57pm and still no sign so I called them. It became apparent that our food hadn’t even been cooked. We were told it would be 15 minutes. It got to 8:15pm, still nothing, so I called again. From conversations in the background it seemed that our food still hadn’t been cooked. The person on the phone was apologetic and said the order would be on its way now. I asked for a refund and was told that they would call me back once the food arrived to discuss this. The food finally arrived at 8:36pm - over two hours after ordering. The food itself was nice; the butter chicken and chicken kadia sauces were really nice but some of the chunks of chicken were too large and had dried out. I have no doubt that if you were eating in the restaurant you would have an enjoyable time. I would give that a try. They should just be open about managing customers’ expectations regarding timings. The manager called me a day later to apologise and refunded half of the cost of the takeaway. They assured me that the situation with the timing was a one-off. I’m glad they tried to rectify the situation.

Good quality food. Poppadoms nice freshly made, however dip selection disappointing. Small restaurant, but clean, bit noisy when busy. One of better places in Taunton.

Food was in the wrong pots so plated the wrong meals, when I tasted the spice I’d hoped when I had my actual ‘mild meal’ I’d enjoy it yet there was no flavour just pure spice. Between a chicken tikka, butter chicken, peshwari naan and pilau rice I could only eat the naan and rice. Both the tikka and butter chicken were extremely spicy and inedible as I dont like spicy food (hence the butter chicken and chicken tikka).

We waited 3 hours for our delivery and it still didn’t come, after calling several times and told it was on way, this isn’t the first time it’s happened. They are obviously too busy in the restaurant to keep up with deliveries. We had to cancel the order in the end and I have to contact the restaurant about the refund

We Pre ordered our food, when it was due to be delivered it was cancelled. We had a big order for a family get together, chose this place as seen in the local news they had won an award. Very disappointed, won’t be bothering again. Now last minute we have to order from else where.

What a great food experience! So tasty, and not the run of the mill Indian restaurant either. A very big selection of food that is Veggy and Vegan, which was a pleasant suprise. Tasty, well presented food all night. We will definitely be back. Have to say, I think this is the best Indian in Taunton.

Wrote on the order please don’t ring doorbell knock quietly as baby asleep. Knocked extra loud AND rang the doorbell. Great. Total order was £44 which is ok for what we ordered for 2 people but the poppadoms, pickle tray and pilau rice we ordered were all missing - £11.35 of food which we didn’t get. I rang the restaurant when I realized and they just offered a free onion pakora next time- but there won’t be a next time. The food was variable- dosa and naan brilliant, jalfrezi not great and the paratha roti was very odd and not nice. I’ll be looking for a refund for the food we didn’t get.

Absolutely the worse curry I have ever had.I had chicken spinach curry.very very dark green.no taste apart from hot chilli powder.there was so much spinach that it separated and I was left with a plate swimming in water with dark green spinach on top.to make it worse my daughters was uneatable too.Also i paid before we came back to collect and I was accused in front of diners of not paying.

I visited here today for lunch with my partner to celebrate our engagement. A lovely clean , fairly small restaurant, simple but crisp decor, the waiter was friendly and professional and the food was absolutely delicious, the best Indian meal I have had in years! There is a full vegan and vegetarian menu which I chose from. I would definitely recommend a visit . Fantastic !!
