Absolutely delicious food in a lovely little restaurant. All the staff were so friendly and the food was so tasty. We shared a number of sushi rolls, gyoza and katsu between 4 of us. Thought it was great value for money for what we had. The food tasted so fresh and was presented beautifully. I would highly recommend and we will be visiting again!

Family dinner for our daughter’s 16th birthday. Our first visit and it won’t be our last. The food was exceptional in all aspects. The service was friendly and efficient and the little touch of giving our daughter a Japanese cheesecake with a candle in was lovely.

This is a special restaurant in Basingstoke, and well worth finding if you like sushi and fusion Asian cuisine. It has the feeling of a family run restaurant - pleasant staff and you can see all the chefs. It was good to see a mix of people eating here and enjoying the food and the atmosphere. The food is excellent and well presented, and is reasonably priced. We will definitely be back! Try it!

We had a great meal here. Sushi was excellent, and I had a brilliant chicken noodle dish - unusual and tasty.

The sushi was very fresh and delicious, the soy source is imported from Japan and just so much nicer than anything else i have eaten. The meal was very well prepared and presented and the duck we had was fresh. The decor has recently been updated and now looks better than before. 12 out of 10 from me.

We keep coming back time and time again, just because it's amazing food, family owned and run, had tasty Japanese import beers and again, the food is amazing. Even said to my wife that this would probably rank up there as one of my "death row meals" options. Love it!!

Authentic experience, as if you are in Japan! There is nothing I can fault about it. I loved the sushi, the katsu curry Udon, the matcha ice cream. Not your everyday outing, but it was well worth spending more for food that has high standards. It felt like a family-run business so we want to support it. We aim to return very soon!

Lovely little place just outside festival place. Sushi box was great as was the pumpkin katsu/karokke. Closest experience to an Izakaya since we were in Japan a few years ago. Service was friendly and attentive. Took our newborn in and wasn't a problem although was quite quiet when we went.

Small hidden gem in Basingstoke for delicious Japanese food. Reasonably priced and pleasant ambiance. We tried the chicken Karoge, Octopus balls, vegan gyoza and crunchy tofu sushi, all of which were delicious.

A beautifully presented, well balanced and vibrant sushi selection served timely. The kitchen and front of house team are a machine. An excellent range of vegetarian options. We’ll absolutely be back for the noodles and more deserts!

This spot is extremely amazing, the staff are so so friendly and helpful. The food quality is absolutely outstanding and the menu is perfect (not too much, not too little). Very small little building, so I would recommend booking ahead of time. Overall, amazing restaurant!

Best Japanese we’ve ever been to- it’s a must! We booked a table through their website and they replied instantly. We had the duck gyozas, edamame beans, chicken Karage and then katsu prawn udon noodles. Was delicious!

I enjoyed a lovely meal the food was very good as always, the staff are friendly and polite the atmosphere was nice.

Having been excited by their menu I had to taste it for myself and I have not been disappointed. Chicken gyoza and the pumpkin katsu was amazing, so tasty. My main the prawn yakisoda was good and certainly complicated the starters.

As other have said- a little gem!! I’ve visited this restaurant several times, at lunch, dinner or takeaway and it’s always been consistently perfect! The food is delicious, a calm atmosphere and the team is so friendly and welcoming. We used to order takeaway only from this restaurant but as of this year we started coming in for dinner instead which is truly a lovely experience and a nice treat.

Tucked away in Feather's Lane, Yamazaki is our go-to Japanese restaurant in Basingstoke. It has a very charming vibe and warm setting once you've pulled a seat. We paid a visit yesterday, and we ordered the chicken teriyaki yakisoba and chicken katsu udon. It was served in generous portions that left us full for the day (well, me to be honest haha!) the service was attentive and fast. Highly recommend getting their sushi, it's one of the best and is fresh! And also their chestnut ice cream - different but oh so rich and creamy!

A small hidden gem. The foods are great and the staff members are very kind. The food is freshly made there, as soon as you order it they'll prep it and cook it for you. The octopus balls (takoyaki) is the best I've ever had compared to the other ones I've tried so far. The sake were delicious too I had it warm. Sushi and sashimi are surprisingly fresh. Soba and udon dishes are good too, the pasta is perfectly cooked and not soggy. Also there are vegan foods too, if you're vegan. The atmosphere were very lovely and quiet, the music is calm and not too loud. If you having a laugh with your friends you can see the staff members smiling too which makes the experience even better. In nutshell is one of the best Japanese style restaurant I think. I highly recommend to everyone.

Lovely little (tiny really, recommended booking or going when it's less.nusy, if you can) Japanese restaurant. Sushi top notch, katsu sauce was amazing, and no one at our table went hungry or unsatisfied. Minor mark down on the time it took to be served but it was busy when we went!

Went here to try somewhere new with friends, will be returning! My favourite cuisine so nice to have somewhere local like this :)

This was my first visit to Yamazaki and I will definitely return there again, probably very soon too! The menu is extensive and full of common and unusual Japanese dishes to cater for every taste. The sushi was fresh and incredibly tasty, chicken karage crispy and just perfectly fried and the duck gyozas perfectly flavoured and crispy. The mains were served in huge bowls and again freshly cooked and with delicious flavours and textures. There are so many items more on the menu I want to sample and I don't expect any of them to disappoint!

I got beef ramen and this is one of the worst ramen I had. They put chili and red onions on the ramen which made it spicy. The egg was only the ordinary hard boiled egg and not the usual ramen eggs. It was very disappointing and expensive at 14.90! Not recommended at all 🤮

Visited here a few times during trips away with work. Fantastic range of absolutely delicious sushi, coupled with a menu of really tasty main dishes. I went for the ramen soups, chicken one evening and beef the other, they were excellent with a beautiful, fragrant and warming broth. I’d always recommend finishing the evening with a custard dorayaki too! Fantastic service & quick preparation. Yamazaki stands out as one of the best Japanese experiences I’ve had for the price range and I can’t wait to return.

My husband and I found this place whilst wondering around before a show at The Haymarket and as sushi lovers, we decided to give it a try. The staff are very welcoming, efficient and attentive, but without being intrusive. The food was cooked/prepared to order and the result was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is small and basic, but don’t allow this to put you off, this place is worth a try for all Asian food lovers. Plus, the toilets are the cleanest I’ve been in for a long time. A great small local business that deserves to succeed. (We recently went to Ivy Asia in Mayfair, London and whilst the food was delicious, the service was appalling and the staff really didn’t care. I wish I could have spend my £200 in this restaurant instead)

What a treat, we came for lunch and it was hard not to keep ordering more and more. A huge selection of sushi made to order.

This is the best restaurant in Basingstoke. They do everything so well; the service is amazing; the food is fantastic; it always has a friendly vibe; the staff are so lovely and attentive. This has been mine and my friends go-to restaurant for the last couple of years now and we don't see it changing. The sushi, the rice dishes, and the noodles are always excellent, so tasty. I will keep coming back to keep this amazing independent restaurant alive.

I was heading to Basingstoke on my own to do a little exploring. I researched restaurants before I came and this one looked perfect. I was not disappointed. The waitress was very friendly and all food came out in really good time. Loved the all female staff! I ordered lots of food and everything was fab. I especially liked the rainbow roll and the okonomiyaki. Thoroughly enjoyed myself, many thanks!

We've been here before and loved the food, so as something different for Valentines Day, this was our first choice. The food was fantastic again, brilliant fresh sushi and sashimi, and the friendly staff topped it off with a complementary glass of bubbly. Great, great meal and a lovely atmosphere. Eat here!

I've lived in Basingstoke for 6 years and have missed this little gem until today. We visited with friends and couldn't have been more happy. The service was great and the food was amazing. I've been to a few sushi restaurants but this one stands out from the rest.

Yum! How did I not notice this establishment sooner?! Went there after an afternoon of shopping and thought I’d incorporate it with dinner and takeout for my son who is sushi crazy! Bearing in mind Sushi is not readily available where we are in Andover unless you count Waitrose and Asda ready meal counters. Was on my own but made to feel very welcome. I wanted to order everything as there was such an vast variety on the menu. I did order a lot but was able to take away anything uneaten much to my sons delight. I will definitely be returning again with family in tow. The price is really good considering it is sushi and can be considerably more in such like places whilst being poorer quality. This was all fresh and really hot. The crab tempura is 10/10 and I have tried soooo many!!! So light batter and so nice and hot temperature and fresh. I was surprised they had the seared salmon and tuna on menu too as again, my main sushi restaurant i use don’t even have this! I didn’t give full stars as much of the dishes didn’t have the main/original accompaniment dips/garnishes that normally come with them that I’ve had in other places but it didn’t bother me as I didn’t care much for them anyways. Thank you for the very friendly staff. I didn’t get the name of the man but I’m sure he was the manager. This will now be my go to regular 👍

Having walked past this restaurant for years we decided to try it. A fantastic restaurant. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious whilst at the same time not being really expensive like some Sushi is. I’d recommend this restaurant.

Had superb lunch today, food was the freshest, best food I ever had. Ate suishi with lots of sides and tried 3 deserts. So so good. Will be going there often. Basingstoke best hidden gem xxx

Updated for 2022. Still the best Asian food in the area. Great restaurant and has become our favourite in town. Lovely food and attentive service. We tried both the sushi and main Japanese dishes and everything was really good and reasonably priced. Just went here for my nieces 18th and my god....I'd usually go to to wagamamas but now I know this place exists I shan't ever be returning to the mainstream Japanese restaurant anymore. Food was delicious the staff were very friendly and the prices were great too. Very enjoyable experience and will most definitely be returning in the near future!

Very overprice for the meat, poultry, fish content. Depending on the meal you order you ordered, you will get mostly noodles, rice or salty water. The sushi isn't great either, you are better off going to Kokoro for better value for money, which is also in town.
