Wagamama in Basingstoke and Deane

Family meal at Wagamama Basingstoke, this was my first experience of Wagamama dining although my daughter and wife had visited various locations before. Food was excellent with really great flavours and the quality was also excellent. I was very impressed with the quality of food and great customer service. Will definitely visit Wagamama restaurants again.

Tasty, hot, delicious food. Impromptu visit Saturday lunch and it was lovely. Great service and fantastic fresh food for a reasonable price.

The new roti bread on the menu is delicious. Its flawless texture and taste make it the standout item I've enjoyed ordering since it was added. For my main entree, I tried the new Korean chicken ttekbokki. While the rice cakes were slightly overcooked, I appreciate that softened texture over al dente. The chicken itself was perfectly cooked - moist and tender. My one critique would be that the ttekbokki spice level was a bit high for my preferences. Though flavorful, the heat overpowered some of the more subtle tastes. Aside from that, the roti bread remains the menu's crown jewel in my opinion, and I will continue ordering it to complement future meals here.

AWFUL MEAL! We were sat down and rushed to a table with no smile or greeting. We then ordered our food. Mine came out then my friends came out but was covered in everything she asked to be taken off and had prawns instead of tofu . She then got it taken back and had a new one . This second one had a HUGE BLACK HAIR. Wrapped around the noodle. They took it back again and made her a new one. The manager told me “these things happen , there’s not much more we can do” - wow what a reply from the manager after finding hair in your dinner after waiting for 40 minutes for a dish. Won’t be coming here again ! Looking forward to hearing what you have to say about this Wagamama ….

I ordered salmon teriyaki with soba noodles. It was presented well but tasteless, salmon fillet was so dry, it was inedible! My friends ordered chicken ramen and the soup tasted like salty water - desperately needed some good seasoning. Will avoid this place in future.

Busy Friday evening at Wagamama yet we were welcomed with a smile and got a table quickly. The food was excellent, hot and served quickly. 3 mains, 3 starters and 3 drinks £73. The staff was very helpful although they were very busy.

Craving a hearty meal after skipping breakfast and lunch, I ordered the chicken teriyaki soba, expecting a sweet and flavorful dish. However, the teriyaki sauce was neither sweet nor sour, and instead packed an intense spicy punch. As I swirled the oddly textured, rubbery noodles, I discovered bits of scotch bonnet pepper lurking within, explaining the excessive heat that unfortunately was not indicated on the menu. On top of the unwelcome spice level, both the chicken and noodles suffered from dryness despite the sauce, with the meat lacking proper marination. The redeeming factor lay in the usual perfect roti that accompanied the meal, but the teriyaki soba itself proved a letdown. Next time, I’ll stick to my standard go-to, the amai katsu, to avoid getting burned by false advertising on the spice factor or stomaching overcooked noodles. This offering missed the mark for my preferences and fell short of expectations.

I tried some of the new menu items at Wagamama tonight, and unfortunately several fell short of expectations. To start, the new Korean-style fried chicken goujons had a bizarre and unappealing flavor combination - they tasted like yuzu and Carolina reaper pepper had a baby, with an odd soapy aftertaste. I would not recommend this dish. The vegan corn dog was another letdown. The "sausage" was coated in crumbled raw instant ramen, making the coating crunchy to the point of being tooth-breaking. The one bright spot was the new bread, which was great on its own without sauce. I could not try it with the sauce due to my tree nut allergy. The bread was unique and tasty. For my main dish, I ordered the new vegan ramen. The portion was small, the "chicken" was dry and flat, and the amount of sauce barely covered three grains of rice. Overall an average ramen dish. I was disappointed with several of the new offerings at Wagamama - some major misses in terms of flavor. I would suggest they rework a few of these dishes.

Clearly incapable on doing the simple things like portioning or not putting things in their food when it clearly states to not put it in on the ticket.

I ordered the katsu curry and it seems the portion sizes have shrunk while they ask for £2 to get extra chicken, but I guess that's inflation. It was still good and I'd recommend.

We visited with our 4 year old and 7 month old on a busy Saturday. The restaurant was heaving but staff were attentive and food was quick. Staff were very accommodating of the baby in her pushchair and the 4 year old was well catered for. The food was delicious and the staff were fantastic. 10/10

Food ok. BUT very poor service. Clueless staff. Why can’t a waitress be educated to smile and say welcome - what can I get you ? It’s not hard.

A pre theatre, early evening meal that was fab! Arrived at 530pm & found no queue so straight to a seat, drinks ordered & this was the time of the only gripe - 4 different staff asked us if we were ready to order, we asked for mire time, but thus was annoyingly pushy. The dishes (4 mains & 3 sides) arrived within a minute of each other, which was great. Sides of: bang bang cauliflower(amazing), chilli squid & miso corn(scrumptious) Main course for me was chilli chicken ramen noodles - perfect. Overall, this was a perfect meal where all of the food excelled expectations, drinks were nicely chilled & service was polite and professional.

Ordered our usual dishes for delivery, 2x sides, a Donburi and a Yasai curry. New boxes, ok that’s fine. But HALF the portion size? That’s not cool. Very noticeable. Probably won’t be ordering here again.

Ordered Pad Thai, Firecracker prawn and rice dish, chilli squid, the green juices. The food was amazing and we loved all of it. We were so full by the time we finished but the food was really great. Going there again to try more dishes.

We had a nice meal, it was very loud in the restaurant and we did feel a bit rushed. The food was delicious and the service was great. The ginger cheesecake was so yummy. I've never had a bad experience at the Basingstoke Wagamama's however this one was really disappointing. I always order the Grilled Chicken Ramen, and every time it usually tastes amazing. This time, my noodles were severely overcooked to the point they were so soft they tasted slightly gone off. I ate the chicken and the broth as they all tasted fine, however the Ramen is the main component of the dish and they weren't even satisfactory.The waitress was also not the best - the service was not up to its usual standards. When she gave us our food, she did not ask us if there was anything else we wanted ie. drinks, instead put the food down and left without saying a word. In addition, she did not do a Check Back, which I know as I work in hospitality myself, is standard procedure. I had to ask a separate waitress if I could have more drinks, which never actually arrived and we ended up leaving as we were waiting for them for around 20 minutes (this was after we had eaten our food). There were no drinks on the side of the bar waiting to be taken to a table so they clearly just hadn't been made and the waitress I had asked had forgotten about them. I'm sure it was just a one off but I would recommend training your staff better because it's clear that if they are new members then it hasn't been adequate enough.

Went here for dinner with the Mrs. Initial was good, with speedy service and order taken quick. Went down hill from there as flies everywhere combined with the attitude of the server( tall dark haired woman) who just dumped plates on our table and her obvious judgement of us ordering more food (but ironic since her job is to sell food) We ate our food quick as we wanted to leave, but not quick enough to see all the staff carrying out the bins through the middle of the restaurant while everyone was still eating. To finish of our evening I popped to the toilet as we were leaving and honestly wasn’t surprised when I saw faeces spread on the wall. Left straight away after that for some reason.

Thank you Danny for being such a wonderful host. We get Wagamama is a chain but it feels like a real destination when people like you are there. The rest of the staff is great as well. Food is more than just eating. It’s the experience that factors as as well

When seating us, they asked if we had any allergies. We declared a shellfish allergy, and they said that they could only cater for nut allergies because their tablet wasn't working. We asked if they could confirm which menu items have shellfish in, and they couldn't because their tablet wasn't working. They were not even able to confirm that vegetarian and vegan options did not have shellfish in. They just kept repeating that their tablet wasn't working. They didn't seem to have any other way of taking orders or catering for dietary requirements without this tablet. Thoroughly unhelpful staff, they didn't seem to care about keeping our business at all. We left and went to Las Iguanas instead, which was phenomenal!

I don’t think i could ever find a reason to complain about Wagamama’s. The food is always lovely, a very good size portion as well. All in all, good value for money and never fails to please.

We are big fans of waggas but last week we had a poor experience. The staff seemed to really struggle with the numbers of people dining, probably due to the governments eat out scheme.The food came out separately, which it often does but I had finished before the rest of my family received their food. No apology was offered by the server.The food was not of the same standard as normal but I will put this down as a one off.

Went on a Wednesday night, we knew it would be busy due to the eat out scheme and it was! We queued for over an hour ... wondering if it was worth it. Then we get in, order 3 sides and our mains and it was FLAWLESS! We absolutely LOVED every SINGLE part of our meal! Fried vegetables were amazing, duck gyozas were incredibly tasty, and my Yaki Soba was the best I’ve had! Not to mention our lovely blonde waitress was super attentive and so nice. Everything was flawless and well worth the wait, best wagamamas experience I’ve had! Will be back next week !

I ordered takeaway for four people yesterday for the first time since the lockdown was introduced. I had the vegan katsu and it was very dry, no flavour, and not as much panko breadcrumb compared to other places I have had it. My husband had the chicken ramen which he regrets because it was also bland. It did not feel as fresh as usual. My in-laws felt the same: bland, flavorless, and meh.

Had a great takeaway from wags on Friday! easy to order online and great to collect! amazing to see social distancing measures in place sanitiser available and barriers to show where to go!

Just popped in to wagamama Basingstoke with my work Colleagues. We love it in here, the staff are brilliant. We had special dietary requirements and the staff ensured we had gluten free. Service was fast and efficient and the food was delicious, we had beef ramen, miso cod ramen, katsu chicken all really good.We'll be back.

Are here alone when working in the area.I was seated really quickly and both the staff members I dealt with were friendly and efficient.I ordered gyoza and chicken and prawn yaki soba, both were delicious and I didn’t have to wait long for the food to arrive.All in all a good Wagamama experience.

we were a party of 5 adults - all arriving at slightly different times. The waiter got out starters as each guest arrived so thet they were freshly cooked. And the main coruses were also piping hot and fresh - delicious. And hardly any waiting at all. The staff - everyone that we saw - greeted us happily, pleasantly. It was an excellent experience.

Ive beeen there already few times and everytime it was so good... Food there is very good quality and dishes are quite big. There's no matter what you order, I've tried half of their menu already and I cant say a bad word about any dish. I also recommend their tasty fresh made juices ;)PS. They also have very nice service and very helpfull waiters :)

Enjoyed a tasty meal with good friendly service. Maybe not the most genuine Asian style food but you know exactly what you are going to get and have never been let down.

Eaten here for lunch with a friend, location really nice but for me the quality of the dishes not the maximum, my point of view is acceptable. Right prices for the options from the menu, I have appreciated the lemongrass + ginger tea; good too the blueberry spice to drink, as plates I've eaten a tori kara age as starter and a pad thai salad as main.

Food was amazing as always, quickly arrived out also! Staff were nice a friendly also very helpful with someone in my party who is vegan. Will be back!

We've passed by Wagamamama many times,but now eventually tried it out. Initial horror at benches only seating--the very sight made our backs ache !! However we were quite comfortable during our meal. The staff were great at explaining the menu and we really enjoyed our meal .Ambience a bit clinical, but it was nice to have the kitchen in the restaurant. Food novel to us but very tasty

This place is just a very safe go-to. Been a customer for years and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Fast, friendly service, great value and great food. x

Yet again I ordered Teriyaki Lamb and was significantly disappointed. The meal has taste and flavour, but chewing, chewing and chewing again, gristly, dreadful cuts of lamb meat is simply awful.

I have visited here q number of times and have honestly never found fault with anything. Their service is excellent and the food is delicious and super quick.

I've always wanted to try this place. Have to say it was a big disappointment, I ordered the tori kara age, this was very nice. However, the Wagamma Ramen was terrible, zero taste for the broth and the meats as a result had no taste either.

Had the Vegan pad thai full of flavours and taste. I have been several times since. Raman very yummy and filling. Awesome place to be!!

Today I was taken to Wagamama’s for the first time. The food was excellent, very flavoursome, hot and plenty of it, Will be going again.

Great service, clean environment and friendly staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and the food was perfect. I had Katsu Curry which was amazing and the best I’ve ever tasted. Great choice of food on the menu and there was something for everyone 😊

The food here was excellent despite ordering a dish with a number of tweaks. The restaurant lacks slightly in atmosphere which is more of a layout thing - perhaps some more booths would be good?

I came here recently with my family after many positive experiences and as usual I was absolutely delighted with the amazing customer service and food I received. The staff are always friendly and make you feel at home and welcomed, the food similarly is absolutely exquisite and they had many options for vegans and vegetarians and seem to cater to most allergies whilst keeping the dishes full of flavour and healthy. Absolutely 10/10 recommend.

Had a quick lunch on my own. Whilst it’s not the most comfortable seating it was clean and airy. Very nice chicken ramen and the blueberry spice juice was yummy although pricey! Good service. Will return.

As always the Wagamma satisfied our appetite, food always tasty, service from the staff superb, the ambience you will feel like that your eating at your own home. Despite they removed the cha han in their menu, Im still keep on coming back here.

We were immediately taken to our seat which was on a long table with people already there which always makes me a bit uneasy being unskilled with chopsticks. But you feel like you have to do it even though there are knives and forks in a tray on the table.

I often go to Wagamama with my group of friends as it is something we all generally enjoy. I think if they shaved a pound off each dish it would be nicer!

Food always reliable and as expected. The problem is a steady stream of delivery drivers who come to collect food and leave doors wide open so it is freezing. The waiters can see customers getting up to close the door but make no effort to close the door or ask the delivery team to do so. Not sure I would return on a cold day or night as I was freezing.

I popped in again recently and felt that Ryan, Lucas and Agnes were all super lovely to me. I really appreciated how friendly, genuine and enthusiastic they were towards me. The manager man who's name I didn't catch was also very respectful I felt and I appreciated it. Thank you guys. Raza =)

Popped in last month and the guys were really good to me. Something which I appreciated is that Daniel and his three colleagues (I don't know nor remember their names, just that one looked Western and the other two were from the Nepalese community) stayed nice to me when I bumped into them outside of the restaurant as well after they had finished their shifts (which is what got me to write this review - they came into the place I work at as customers and stayed nice). I appreciated that their behaviour, manners and attitude towards me didn't depend on whether or not I'm in their restaurant as a paying customer while they're at work. Thank you guys! =)

Literally the best place - we never get sick of going here. Quick service and always a friendly face to serve you. Food always absolutely BANGING and the staff are always super nice. Always massive portions so never leave still feeling hungry.

Food was good, only bad thing is it is quite busy and there aren’t many toilets so sometimes it can be a long wait. I adore the food and the service was decent.

A really nice restaurant, with Asian’s beers and a fantastic ramen as you can see. Not only good looking but also really tasty. Will come again!

Myself and my husband often eat here and have no faults. The food is always lovely and the service is great.

Always great. Big portions, reasonable prices, friendly staff, it can get a bit crowded and you might feel rushed at times.

Visited with my Chinese colleague, quick service, range of dishes to chose from. I guess 12 years since I was in a Wagamama and I remember thinking it was a cheap meal. Maybe my memory is not so good on the prices, still it was a whole lot less than the pubs and hotels we have eaten in all week. Portions were good and the food was good, in fact really good. We both had large tasty meals and the service was good, in fact very good I must say.

To paraphrase another critic, you could just eat a pot noodle in a factory canteen and set fire to your wallet.

I believe this is one of the best in the ever - expanding chain with staff who are sweet and friendly, the usual heavenly menu and a seating area looking out of the window and perfectly suited to the single diner.

I had the Katsu curry and my wife had the duck ramen. Good food that was tasty, relatively inexpensive and came with good service. Very good place For food if looking forso,ewhere to eat before going in to town or the cinema.

Not been to this restaurant chain for a while. It was a busy sat lunch but we were seated & served quickly. The food ingredients are freshly cooked and it was quite tasty/ reasonable value. Good place for a quick lunch.

Three of us visited Wagamama on a busy Friday night. We were very pleasantly welcomed and after the briefest of waits we were guided to our table. At just the right moment our waitress arrived and took our drink orders and politely asked if we were ready to order food. We were. I wish I had captured the name of our waitress. She really made our evening with her bubbly personality and fantastic recommendations for both food and drink. With us and our neighbours, our waitress was laughing and smiling. If you have dark hair wear tortoise shell glasses, and were at the south end of the restaurant on Friday night it's you and we love you!

I've always been a big fan of Japanese foods, having a Wagamamas so local to me is amazing, my friends love it, I love it and most importantly my Vegetarian girlfriend loves it with the options available for her, even I tried the vegi katsu curry which has sweet potato hash browns instead of chicken and it was delicious.

Not our first visit to a Wagamama, and undoubtedly not our last.

My favourite restaurant that is great to be at with friends. The food is always great quality and the variety is always amazing.... I do get sad when they rotate my favourite meals off the menu though - but doesn't stop me from going. The service is great even when they are very busy. If you are used to good Thai food avoid the pad thai

Ordered take-away from them on my last day in the UK, after a week trying different places. Without a doubt the best tasting take-away in Basingstoke. Not a bad word to say about the food, absolutely delicious, wish someone would have told me to order from them sooner.

Wagamama is one of these place that is great when meeting up with friends. We had a great time, food was good and service was excellent. We had the squid balls and it looked like they were moving!! This is very interesting and it's the fish flakes that curl, but it looks like they move.

Fast and friendly service, clean tables. We didnt feel rushed to order even though they were very busy. Our food arrived very fast, huge portions and was absolutely delicious!

Like all the restaurants in the chain this one has consistent quality, the food is good and although at the higher price end of the market it not bad value for money. Reminiscent of Far Eastern food halls, the atmosphere is frenetic, it is noisy, seating is functional not comfortable, this is a place to meet, eat, chatter and move on, certainly not a place to relax in in a refined atmosphere.

I had the Chicken Katsu Curry on my solo visit and had possibly the largest portion I’ve ever had in any Wagamama restaurant. The staff were attentive but not overly so. I drank the (free!) green tea on this visit which had a lovely light taste. It was busy when I visited but I received my food quickly which as a solo diner was welcome. The main negative was the price, which is more an issue with the chain than this restaurant. Would also have preferred a window seat as a solo diner and disliked the metal panels underneath the bench seats, which make crossing ones legs rather difficult.

Had a great evening here on a works meal,I took my team here and had a great meal with amazing service and have to say the waiters were very friendly and entertaining food was as expected, really good
