Very tasty food. Friendly environment with beautiful authentic decor inside. The owner was very welcoming. The Katsu chicken sushi was divine and the golden dragon maki was to die for. All halal too since the new takeover last year. Would definitely recommend.

Maybe I was unlucky, but the sushi was not tasty. I was sorry to upset the waiter, but I couldn’t even finish a bite. I'm sure other food is really tasty, but sushi - I'm out of luck. The atmosphere is very cozy and pleasant. The waiter is very nice.

We went 2 weeks ago for the 1st time as a family of 4 and I can say it was some the most delicious food we've had. The owner Kabir was very helpful and the dishes were authentically and freshly cooked ! Fully Halal as it is under new management. Great food and service Thanks Kabir. Asif

One of the best Asian restaurants I’ve been to and it’s right on my doorstep! We got the beef teppanyaki and spicy Korean chicken with boiled rice and fried noodles. Absolutely delicious and everything is halal which is amazing. Staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was nice and cosy. Highly recommend.

I am so happy to have found this hidden gem in Sheffield! It is so hard to find fresh, authentic HALAL sushi and ramen! These guys are amazing and the place has a cosy vibe. Highly recommend the katsu sushi and chicken gyoza. Having been to Japan twice - I can confidently say this place is amazing!

Very clean and delicious food, nice service! Only downside is the wait time, we had to wait around 50 minutes for our food (there were three of us and we got sushi rolls and soup/beef) and we were starving. But definitely would go again!

Went there with my boyfriend on a date as a birthday treat. We are both sushi lovers and were very impressed with the food. Staff are very friendly and we were immediately greeted with complimentary crab bites from the chef which were delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Went here to celerbrate my boyfriend’s birthday. This is the second time we have been to this place as the food is so good. The staff is very welcoming and kind. I cant recommend this place enough. Everything we order is tasty and the quality of food each time is excellent

Very authentic little place in the middle of London Road. Both times everything we ordered was delicious! The staff are very friendly and accommodating as well. Our favourite restaurant in the city, especially the takoyaki, yakitori and seaweed salad. The second time we came we ordered a sushi set which I can't recommend enough.

Muy lindo pequeño restaurante en Sheffield. El camarero era acogedor y nos dio tiempo suficiente para recoger bebidas y comida sin dejarnos esperando o entrar demasiado rápido. La selección fue excelente y viene con fotos para aquellos que no saben lo que son todos los platos. Una vez pedidas las bebidas fueron rápidas (vale la pena señalar que este es un restaurante halal ahora y no sirve alcohol, tienen una buena selección de bebidas sin embargo y servido 0% Asahi para aquellos que deseen tener el sabor) La comida estaba deliciosa pero mi única queja fue la calidad de algunos de los ingredientes. Desafortunadamente Sheffield no se presta bien para pescado fresco o carne de calidad, así que esto era de esperar, pero aún así fue un poco decepcionante ver la decoloración en algunos de los peces. La carne también era un poco duro y muy delgado, que era una combinación extraña y se llevó del resto de la comida, que era encantador. Los precios eran justos en mi opinión y, discuta lo que mencioné, estaría encantado de volver.

I came here with my wife this week, we were sceptical to begin with, but after seeing the ambience, the customer service and the food, we loved it! The portion sizes were great, the price was reasonable and it was authentic. We had the Gyoza soup with prawn dumplings, California roll sushi, Takoyaki and the Korean chicken stone pot with noodles.

Excellent selection, fast & friendly service and fabulous food. Great value too. I’ll be back

I’ve been to Yama when it first opened over a decade ago and returned today. Still amazing authentic Japanese food. The only authentic Japanese restaurant in Sheffield, because all the fast food places are very much to the western tastes.

Went here today and was an absolute amazing experience from the service to the food it was all 10/10. Owner is very polite and very warming, the food is very authentic and tastes amazing would highly recommend to anybody who loves east asian cuisines.

I really love this place, it's small a cute and the food is always really good and I've eaten most the menu now.

We came here looking for decent japanese food in Sheffied. We were pleasantly surprised with welcoming service and a cosy atmosphere. The food was very well priced (platter of variety of seafood sushi for only £24!). All seafood was very fresh, delicate, melting in mouth. Rice had just enough vinegar to compliment the seafood and was not dry at all. Pieces were also very big - one platter was enough to feed 2 people. Miso soup was delicious. It was a pleasure!

Amazing high quality food, you can literally taste the freshness. One of the best Asian food places I have ever been to and I'm from manchester. Very well decorated place and ambience really makes you feel like your in a japanese place. Definitely try out the seaweed salad as that despite its name was the most fresh and unique savouring thing I have ever had! 10/10 would recommend.

I first had food from them as a takeaway for my birthday when I heard that the restaurant was becoming halal. I was pleased with how delicious and authentic the food was! Recently, I returned back to the restaurant in-person and tried many of their dishes. As expected, the food was top tier, served in an eye catching manner! The atmosphere is ambient as well as the customer service is excellent! I would highly recommend going to this Japanese restaurant especially if you’re looking for authentic (halal) Japanese food in Sheffield! Truly enjoy the food!

Yama Sushi Bar in Sheffield is a great spot for fresh, tasty sushi and friendly service. The staff are welcoming, and the food is consistently good with a nice price. A must-visit for sushi and noodles lovers!

Starters wer ok. Tempura a bit greasy. The fried rice was nice. I won't rate the main course. Had the garlic beef. Beef was over cooked and dry

This is the best sushi I've ever found, even internationally. Their spicy scallop maki is perfection, and the saki maki tempura literally melts in your mouth. So good, you've got to try it!

Lovely small sushi/Japanese restaurant, we ordered the ramen and some sides and we were absolutely stuffed by the end. Shame about the no sake though! Takoyaki is a must have but let them cool they come out red hot.

I have been eating at yama Sushi 🍣 for 7 years now. The food was always consistent and top quality raw fish the best in Yorkshire. They are now under new management, and the service is great 👍 but the raw is inconsistent, unfortunately. I have given this place so much business here, and I have heard others say the same, quality has dropped.

I like the space and atmosphere....and the service was top notch but I'm not sure how I feel about the noodle I ate, I think it was too soggy but I know other people might like that I just don't! A friend suggested I request the texture I want...I'll try that next time

Reservamos esto debido a que nuestro favorito habitual está cerrado y me alegro de haberlo encontrado. Un lugar muy sencillo, no quisquilloso, pero no confundas eso con la calidad de la comida que se ofrece. Wow! Vinimos para mi cumpleaños - comedor de carne, pescadores y vegetarianos y todos tenían una comida increíble. Destacaron para nosotros la gyoza, maki de dragón dorado, maki de volcán y rollito crujiente de verano, aunque todo lo demás que tuvimos fue genial incluyendo la yakisoba coreana de pollo y verduras. El servicio era agradable y no exagerado y todos nos fuimos pensando en la gran relación calidad-precio que era de alrededor de £ 28 cada uno por tanta comida. No sirven alcohol aquí, así que ten en cuenta esto, pero para ser honesto la comida era tan buena que no nos molestó en absoluto.

we had some sashimi, oyakodon, agedashi tofu and tempura. food was great, everything was fresh though the tofu was my least favourite. service was wonderful, staff were all very attentive. only downside is that music in the restaurant was a little loud in the small space that it is. additionally, this place is halal so no pork or alcohol.

Lovely waiter, the food was unreal as always and extremely clean! The service was extremely attentive and prompt, nothing was too much hassle. Only thing was having to ask for a fork as I can’t use chopsticks, the question of shame lol. However the waiter positively saw to it immediately and was very friendly. If you’re eating here, I recommend the katsu ramen, it’s delicious and is very warming.

10/10. Best Japanese food in Sheffield I’ve tried so far. Underrated spot, customer service is exceptional. Seating is a little small but was never an issue for us. Decor is authentic and chic. Relaxed atmosphere with great hospitality. My go to order is the spicy chicken katsu maki (sushi) and spicy Korean chicken with rice. The prawn yakisoba ( fried noodles) was also nice. The best sushi I’ve tried in Sheffield so far. Prices are reasonable. I would really recommend. I think this is Bengali and Muslim owned too. Been here few times and quality of food has always been top notch. Overall, no complaints definitely will be craving this again. Spicy katsu Maki- 10/10 Spicy Korean chicken - 9/10 Prawn Yakisoba- 7.5/10 Chicken gyozu- 7/10 HALAL

It was a horrible and disgusting experience. Those salmon are separated itself. Octopus is gross, seaweed is wet, like a dried octopus with watery rice. The reman is salty. Fried chicken is alright tho.

Enjoyed our visit here earlier this evening. It’s a good “new” addition to London Road halal restaurant scene. Good menu which is now all halal. We had mainly rice based dishes. The spicy ginger chicken stone pot was very good. Excellent tempura prawns & chicken dumplings. Will certainly visit again

This has become a favourite of ours and often travel the 45 minutes to get here. Over the past 10 years or so, the food has never failed. The restaurant has recently changed hands and is now a halal restaurant. Whilst that in itself doesn’t make a difference to me, I was surprised (due to my lack of knowledge) that this means no alcohol on site whatsoever. The reason for the 2* review? Service is poor to say the least. Whilst the owner is friendly enough, customer service leaves something to be desired. Almost 30 minutes from being seated to taking a drinks order (restaurant had 8 covers to look after). One drink was all we were getting as we were never asked again…. Importantly, for me, it’s the lack of attention that makes it disappointing. The owner is incredibly focused on leaning on the counter using his mobile phone rather than ensuring that his customers are attended to. Honestly, nice enough chap, but terrible service. Such a shame as this has been a long time favourite… Ambience and authenticity also disappearing with new decor unfortunately.

Having eaten here several times over the last few years my friend and I have always been really pleased with this restaurant. Upon our most recent visit we realised that it is now under new management and although the food is as exceptional as ever, I assume the old kitchen staff are still here, unfortunately, the authenticity of the place no longer seems to be. I always enjoyed a Japanese beer with my food and was disappointed to find that they no longer serve alcohol, we had to wait nearly 20 mins before the owner brought us a menu during which time I would have enjoyed the Japanese decor were it not for being sat next to a bright green neon sign declaring that they are now ‘halal’!! On a positive note, it is good that you can now pay by card! As previously mentioned, the food is still fantastic, which leaves me in an awkward position whereby if I want good sushi I have to sit in a place I don’t really want to be. Not sure if I’ll be back yet 🤷🏼‍♂️

Amazing halal Japanese restaurant. We tried the Chicken Katsu Ramen bowl in a spicy sauce and the beef teppanyaki. Both dishes really tasty and well flavoured. Both dishes well presented. Love that everything is halal, a unique selling point with it being Japanese cuisine. Customer service really great. Owner Kabeer and his wife were very friendly welcoming people and attentive. Would highly recommend and look forward to visiting again.

Really disappointed! Used to be my favourite restaurant and regularly visited and ordered ! Loved the sushi ! Tonight the food was just not as good . Barely any filling , significantly less than previously ! Just not as nice . What has happened to this once fabulous little sushi place !

I used to regularly order from Yama Sushi, and usually the same dish: special ramen. Today, and the last time I ordered, the ramen was not the same, and not as described on the menu. There was chicken instead of pork, and instructions for spicy broth were ignored. The tempura squid recipe has also changed. I’d like to be refunded for my meal, and I won’t be ordering again.
