Yalm in Norwich

First visit to Yalm. Easily able to find a table for 5 of us. Ordering very easy and convenient. Food and drinks arrived promptly to the table. All ordered from different places and food looked amazing. I ordered from on the bone and my steak was cooked beautifully, arrived hot and was delicious. Waiting staff all polite and helpful. A little noisy when full upstairs but will definitely be back

The food is good, but everything else is the reason I probably won't come here again. The app/website needed to order is not very user-friendly and pretty unsociable - we spent at least 20 minutes glued to our phones trying to place our order. Loads of menu items listed as "currently unavailable". Some food came out really fast, and some took over 30 minutes. General atmosphere is fine - a bit like a school dining hall. I imagine that it's nicer when they have live music. The whole vibe just seems a bit overcomplicated for no reason.

Me and a number of friends went to Yalm for food and drinks for my birthday and we had an excellent time. Even before the evening itself organising the booking and communicating the numbers with Yalm was a breeze and pleasant experience. The evening itself whilst I can't comment on everyone's food specifically, nobody had any grumbles and for myself personally, what I ordered and had from Souk was great. I really appreciated and enjoyed the Oktoberfest drinks menu too, as a keen fan of German Beer the choice was fantastic. I personally went for the Paulaner Weissbeir which went down a treat. The service was friendly, organised and efficient aswell. Whenever organising a big booking again Yalm will be at the top of my list and even for myself and smaller bookings, will return without question.

I visited for a lunch and then a dinner. Love this place, it’s got everything that suits everyone. I will be returning for sure and I have been recommending to others.

We really enjoy coming to Yalm and being able to try foods from so many different eateries all in one great location. We particularly love BAHA and Eric’s Pizza, but there’s something here for everyone! The atmosphere and food are top notch! The toilets are always clean and presentable and the hand wash is lush too!

The atmosphere and menu were both great. However, I was refused service because of my egg allergy, even though I was ordering from the vegan menu. The chef informed me that they could not cook my food in a separate part of the kitchen / away from the egg food. The chef was very unsympathetic and unapologetic.

What a fabuous refreshing change. Indoor market vibe, fun sociable, busy, lots of choice of food & drink. Food was amazing from Thai Issan. Service was friendly. Atmosphere was lovely a socialble with a complete mix of ages, families, groups & couples. Transcends day to evening with ease. Not for those looking for a quiet formal meal all served at the same time! If you order from a different kitchen it will come at a different time! Definately for those looking for relaxed, casual, happy go lucky, easy going yummy experience. Can't wait to go again and try another kitchen. If i wasnt so full on my heavenly seafood and blue rice from Issan i would have tried another! Also numerous beers, wine and spirits to enjoy.

What a find! Busy, vibrant space (upstairs) offering a range of cuisines, ordered via a QR code selection and brought to table by a hard-working team of young, friendly waiters. Opted for burritos and they were delicious! Highly recommended!

Table of eight, work colleagues night out. I understand the concept of YALM but there has to be a limit to how long you wait for food. 5 of us ordered from NXXDS and one meal came in ten minutes, 3 in 45 minutes, and one over an hour. These weren’t complicated dishes, rice bowls, and a few of us ordered the same dish. We could clearly see the “chefs” in the kitchen who seemed very lax about preparing food. Theres nobody to complain to about the wait, and when I sent in a complaint to the email my order came from it bounced right back. Surely there’s some way to hold a kitchen accountable for your time, not to mention the food was not anything I’d ever wait that long for.

Had a wonderful, spur of the moment meal at Yalm. There were so many different styles of food to choose from. All the food and drinks came out within two minutes of each other. All good was hot, fresh and absolutely delicious. The staff were so happy, polite and friendly. To be honest, after some really bad experiences at Junkyard Market I was not sure about trying Yalm, but I was glad to be proven wrong.

Been numerous times for food and although I’ve often found the service abrupt and no frills, the last time was truly shocking… And this is the second time a similar thing has happened ! We waited an hour for food to arrive but nothing came. Spoke to a waitress who said this often happens with their system. Offered no solution other than to order again at the till. Couldn’t even expedite an order for hungry children who had waited an hour. Had to leave with over £50 for lunch having been taken out of my account under the promise that it ‘should sort itself out as it normally does’ and a refusal to even write a note confirming what had happened in case I needed it later. Also, tried getting in touch with them as still not had my money returned and it’s practically impossible. Can’t send them a message on Facebook. No one answers their phone. No email other than the jobs@ email on their website. Feel sorry for the vendors there as the food is good. Shame the overarching operation is a circus.

This was an amazing experience.there was loads to choose from.the workers where all so kind.It was my first time butt I’m definitely coming back.on the outside it looks like a calm cafe but when you get upstairs everything is buzzing with excitement

Overpriced. Overrated. Flavourless. If you like being cajoled into a cattle market, deafened by noise and ripped off this is for you.

A friend made a group booking here: with about half a dozen different eateries, it’s ideal for catering to lots of people. I ordered a Paneer Butter Masala (it was written on a blackboard and so I can’t remember which kitchen it came from). The sauce was creamy and plentiful and the paneer portion decent, but it eventually became a tad too spicy for me. The Naans were overpriced.

Went with 2 family’s, one of our party ordered ramen. Everyone else revived their food but after 30 mins still no ramen. We asked waiting staff and they said the ramen stall was a little busy today but it would be another 10 mins. Waited 1 hour and went and asked at the actual ramen kiosk and they said we would get the food very soon. Waited another 30 mins (a total 90 mins ) and still nothing. Asked for the money back on the ramen, which was given but no mention of ‘we are sorry etc’ Very bad management of the place and more customer service training need for the staff. If they had explained the situation and we were given the chance of ordering something else we would have been happy with that.

Booked early for New year's eve taster menu and party. The event was cancelled at short notice ruining our new year plans, to add insult to injury we were told the meal was off but the party was still on and we would need to buy another 4 tickets. Still no refunds 3 weeks on despite calls and emails no response. Unsure if organiser Danny Lee SEARLE who has our money is a crook or a scammer? I would recommend not paying for anything in advance to Yalm or Mr Searle if you paid by credit card contact them and inform them of the scam.

Came here recently for dinner with friends. We booked our table, so were seated pretty quickly. Lots of good menu options on offer, and service is fairly quick too! All the food we ordered tasted great, and drinks were all good too. It's a little pricey, but decent value for what you get. Overall, we all had a good experience!

Great food in street food style. Ideal for groups or for nipping into while in the city. The unique way of ordering on the app is great but just avoid if you Want a personal waiter service or specific requirements. We really enjoyed the variety and relaxed feel. A bit pricey but what isnt these days! Would definitely go again and it’s in a beautiful building.

Heard good things about this place so we went to try it out, very over priced, received a RAW chicken burger as seen in photos which when i went to complain, NICELY, they said it was meant to be like that because it’s chicken thigh, but continued to make me another one which had hardly any chicken and was now over cooked. My boyfriends bone marrow was jelly when it should’ve been buttery. don’t recommend the ‘on the bone’ option, wouldn’t go again

Came here as a group for a friend's birthday dinner. The range of cuisine and price to suit all attracted us, but we were rather disappointed in the end. The food court is set across two floors, and the setting feels quite upmarket and plush. Souk North African kitchen seemed to be just my vibe. Ordered the £12.50 Chicken Shawarma which is touted as including two sides and flatbread. Unfortunately only a selection of the sides from the menu are included, and not the best ones. I therefore paid extra for hummus. The shawarma was in fact not a shawarma, but rather a kebab of cubed and vaguely seasoned chicken served on half a flatbread with some kind of pickled salad. For the price, one would expect a whole flatbread and an actual shawarma. The hummus was a decent portion size albeit rather thin and again was served with only half a flatbread. Supermarket hummus is better. Onto dessert - I paid £6.50 for the Pistachio Baklava expecting a selection surrounding the ice cream. I was served a singular small piece of baklava with a small scoop of ice cream. This does not merit the price. How embarrassing. The quality of the food was ok, but the portion sizes were small, so overall quite poor value. Speaking to friends and seeing their food, this seems to be a common theme among the different kitchens at Yalm, in spite of them being separate independent businesses. The only strong points on this evening were the friendliness of staff, speed of service, and the nice atmosphere / setting. To summarise: not great value, not great quality, but staff friendly and large range of kitchens.

Had to walk out after 20 minutes of trying to order a simple meal of eggs and bacon. This place has an over complicated system which may be quirky but not good if you want something quick. Especially bad if you have any food intolerances, as a they make you go and speak to the kitchen staff to find out about ingredients but you have to go to more than one kitchen because the kitchens only do certain things. So frustrating!

Stopped in for coffee and we (6 of us) were so impressed with the atmosphere and friendliness, we decided to go back for lunch. Really enjoyed the food and had a lovely relaxed lunch. Food was lovely as was the Craft beer. Will definitely go back.

I had the Chicken Shawarma on 1/2 a flat bread with side of a vinaigrette coleslaw and tomatoes. While this was very tasty. For the amount I paid they could have cut up the other 1/2 of flatbread and given you that. I get that they are trying to give us wholesome food but I can’t help feeling ripping me off too. The menu’s are not fully explained. Neither are the quantities. The side salads were in nothing bigger than a ramekin. Please state 1/2 a flat bread, ramekin of side salads. Then let people weigh it up. The 7 kind of fries were nothing more than curly, straight, crinkled etc chips and what they called a large bowl. I saw a dessert bowl of them sitting on the side. I could be wrong but state what size bowl. When I saw 7 kind of fries I was thinking triple cooked perhaps. But later thought well they could be French fries, skin on etc. But mainly I had no idea and could not see a picture in my head and I was concerned about being ripped off. To top the lot the ice cream was chocolate and vanilla with peanut butter, chocolate sauce and a peanut brittle. £6.50 and was delivered to me in a ramekin! I have since seen other picks of this ice cream and I was ripped off. I expected that to come in a tall ice cream glass. I can believe these people may feel passionate about good food but come on, give some decent size of food and make it worth the money spent. This was my second visit and while some staff were friendly most didn’t know how to communicate well. Twice I complained once to server of ice cream and secondly on my way out. They looked at me blankly and no one offered me a refund! They need more training.

Yalm is brilliant - something for everyone. It's not for a fancy romantic-type dinner for 2 but it's great with friends, family and kids during the day or in the evening. It's also dog friendly which is handy as I often have mine with me....
