Benugo in Norwich

I ordered a black coffee & noticed the memer of staff, use her bare hand to remove excess coffee from the portafilter before placing it in the machine. Lack of thought of hygiene & possible awareness of the risks of doing so..

The staff here are always friendly and efficient, they make everything consistently well and we never have a bad thing to say about the service.

Ordered a Chai latte & a flat white, both made to perfection by the friendly & polite barista (Natalie?) We’ll be visiting again.

Wow, the coffee is exceptional, a very high standard. Service is very good, staff excellent. Oh, and a great choice of cakes, heavenly.

Well what can I say I just been into you store the service I got from Karen was first class I’m often classed as a pain due to my medical issues but she spent time explaining what I could have to eat etc service like this is not often seen at other places I have been to .so I would highly recommend benugo in John Lewis Norwich and Karen should be praised for her service and expertise

God cuppa - more than one in the pot, nice lemon drizzle and helpful young lady serving. Pleasant and peaceful surroundings.

This could be a lovely cafe but every time I've been here recently there have been lots of uncleaned tables and dirty crockery left around. Such a shame as the staff are friendly and the food is good quality but sitting in dirty and untidy surroundings ruins it.

General Manager Jodie and her team were extremely welcoming, so polite,always a smile on their faces and cannot do enough to make you feel comfortable and the service is outstanding.would recommend this hidden gem in John Lewis.

I find that friendliness of staff really makes or breaks the experience, and this store needs some improving on this. Nobody really cared about cleaning up tables, almost all tables were full of dishes and rubbish leftover from previous visitors. Very off putting. The cakes look absolutely stunning in the display, and are quite expensive, so I expected them to be amazing. I got the gorgeous pink cake with lemon, raspberry and pistachio. For £5 however, I was a bit disappointed. The sponge was dry, the icing a bit too sweet. What a shame. My iced mocha was delicious. No complaints there. Overall I think you can skip this place, I would recommend you go upstairs to „the place to eat” which is owned by John lewis, which has much nicer staff and actually fresh, delicious cakes and other food.

Jodie, Karen and the team at Benugo, Norwich are lovely, I pop in for a quick flat white in the morning before work and am always served with a smile. The coffee here is strong, but not overpowering and the texture on the flat white is perfect. Have tried a few lunch items - but the real winner for me is the pesto flatbread - toasted to perfection! Thanks again Jodie and team for making working at the office more bearable!

So disappointed, dry hard scone. £2.50 for a can of Diet Coke. Used to like popping in for a tea and cake whilst shopping think I’ll find a new place and also no longer authorizing car park reduction unless a John Lewis member

Lovely cafe in middle of John Lewis, with lots of seating, even though it was. Saturday I found a table for myself! Food & cakes looked absolutely delicious & scrumptious, fresh & tasty. Smallest of problems is I don’t eat a lot at lunchtime and was struggling to find a sandwich that wasn’t Enormous!!( I was on my own so couldn’t share) I found the one smoked salmon bagel left which I must say was very nice ! & plenty for me! Hubby would have called it a starter 🤣😂 It seems to be the theme in most places now that our portions seem to be growing! I definitely would recommend the cafe for their food, friendliness & cleanliness!!

I ordered a hot chocolate today, I was given a cappuccino. It was lovely, but it's not what I expected.

Popped in on my lunch break, have to say, the middle eastern meze wrap was to die for! Friendly staff and a calming atmosphere given my hectic day at work! Would definitely return, I was recommended a loyalty card too which I'm sure I will fill up in no time given how nice the hot chocolate was!

First visit today and I was surprised by how pleasant it was, the staff were friendly but seemed a little jaded. Additionally, the atmosphere was quiet and the tables were spotless. Lastly, the hot chocolates and caramel shortbreads taste great!

Visited Benugo Norwich this morning while in John Lewis, no problem with the coffee but only taking card no cash, is this for the convenience of the store. They were taking cash a little while ago. More and more stores seem to take this attitude. One wonders what would happen it the customer only had cash would they be turned away.

I absolutely love going to benugos once a week with my mum its the perfect place to catch up with amazing food and incredible customer service, i highly recommend.

This is the perfect place for a catch up with coffee and cake! the service is always excellent and they always cater for your needs. Lovely environment with light music in the background and the opportunity to shop once you enjoyed your refreshments. highly recommend.

I come here regularly, it's a lovely relaxed area for grabbing a coffee and doing some work on the laptop. Plenty of space and friendly staff, and of course the coffee is very nice too, especially the oat milk vanilla latte which was recommended by Jade.

A lovely spot for some lunch and light bites. A clean and quick service with very friendly and tentative staff who even welcome dogs!

Luke warm latte. I preferred to use a stick to stir as cutlery looked awful. Bring back the good old days of hand washing. I often pop in to have an afternoon coffee but find variety of cakes very limited and always the same. For such a lovely store, this cafe let's it down.

Absolutely fantastic cafe and some of the best coffee on offer in Norwich. I work on Ber Street and rely on the ladies here for the daily coffee fix, they are always happy to help, armed with caffeine and smiles to perk you right up! Whether you're looking for a bite to eat or a tasty latte, I would highly recommend the lovely folks at Benugo.

I’ve been to Benugo a few times now and love how friendly the staff are! They always ask about my day which is a very nice change from other cafes! The cake selection is amazing and the homemade lunch is always delish. The coffees are lovely and the syrups add a lovely touch!

I asked for a latte and an extra hot flat white. Both drinks were filled with the same milk. I was told the flat white was extra hot and mentioned that they were both the same temperature. I was told what temperature coffee should be served at and sensed a confrontational person, so for the sake of other customers let it drop. Not happy with the barista's attitude.

I visit The Benugo coffee shop in JL Norwich each day I come to work . ( on average 4xs a week) The staff are lovely, from both the Barista s to the Barista Managers. They are attentive to their customers. The service is speedy at the tills when taking your order, and the coffee is delicious. If your looking for a quick snack from Savory to sweet, definitely worth a visit.

I went to this cafe to meet a friend. When I got there, I was just really thirsty and got myself a Coke. Went to the counter to pay for it, but didn't even receive a glass. When I asked for one it was pointed out that I should grab a glass from the table where the tap water was standing. The glasses were still hot from the dishwasher and in a horrible state as they really needed replacing by now. For the price you pay for a can of coke, I would expect a glass given to me at the counter with ice and lemon and not the rude service I received

I visited the Norwich Benuga Saturday for the first time during a shopping trip, A relaxing stop off. I was assisted by a young lady called Yvonne very kind and helpful (I had an elderly family member with me) however she made sure myself and my nanny had everything we needed. Thanks again, we will return!

Severely Disappointed This is possibly one of the worst coffees I've had , I ordered an espresso and a decaffeinated coffee , both of which came out bitter and burnt tasting. Either the machine isn't cleaned properly in between shots or the grind isn't correct. Literally couldn't finish my drink. Scones were quite bland too. Hopefully things can change in the future.

I love the staff here they are kind and considerate and the two j ladies are really good at making coffee and stuff

Chilled out area, perfect for a hot drink and a sweet treat whilst I dealt with work emails. The service was top notch, and I must say, such a clean place given how busy it got when I was there. Will definitely return, the chocolate slice was to die for!!!

I called in yesterday morning at Benugo John Lewis Norwich for a much needed coffee , but was quite shocked to see two large cockapoos sitting upright at a table perched upon the seats. Later we chose a nearby excellent cafe instead for lunch, deciding not to use John Lewis again until it changes its policy on dogs in store and cafes. I assume staff are diligent and clean both tables and chairs for people to use hygienically, but I prefer not to leave it to chance and therefore will use alternatives. Why owners are allowed take dogs into a food area is simply beyond me. Thankyou for reading

Dropped in with my sister to have a coffee and pot of tea. Saw a pkt (small) of ginger nut biscuits which I luv but there was no price on them so I asked the lady who didn’t know but asked her colleague. When he said snacks are £2.50 I said is that for the pkts of nuts but he said no snacks were all that price so I said I think I’ll give them a miss. I know prices are going up but £2.50 for a pkt of 3 biscuits is a bit much. Very disappointed. Good job it was a lovely cup of tea which would definitely of been better with an affordable pkt of biscuits. Cafe wasn’t busy but even thou all tables had been cleared of crockery etc they had not been cleaned down. Lady serving and taking the money was friendly and helpful thou.

Lack of customer service! Person serving didn’t hand my loyalty card back to me but threw it down on the counter! A smile might have been nice too!!

Dirty Water Receptical. Rock hard scon. Good coffee. Lego near by which is a plus.

Unbelievable such a lack of customer service, tables dirty and very rude, not what you’d expect at John Lewis. Just seen as if the young staff didn’t want to be there..

Only 1 or 2 sandwiches left and when my husband asked if there were any more, the blonde boy behind the counter huffed and said “urgh no!” Expensive for what we did manage to eat. Shame. Could be nice if you had the right staff and food availability.

Possibly the worst cup of tea ever tasted, in fact after stirring We checked the pot to see if they had forgotten to put any tea bags in & to our surprise there were 2 but absolutely tasteless & not what you expect in a John Lewis store. The cheese scones were huge but tasteless, think the cheese was a bit like the tea bags there in name only, no flavour! Service was cold & unfriendly, just about spoke to me, no customer service skills & little communication, one redeeming feature, a disabled member of staff was trying very hard to keep the place clean & tidy

Overpriced, nasty and dirty - go elsewhere. Filthy cutlery and disinterested staff. John Lewis take note - this cafe does you no favours!

Saw this whilst walking to our venue for drinks / dinner and thought I would give it a try - was really disappointed, Hot drink cold and cold drink warm!!! The food was just average.

This Café appears to have gone downhill. Decaf latte was watery and tepid. I overheard a lady returning a scone as it was hard. Disappointing

First time here after just moving to area. Had a tea and they poured a little jug of red skimmed milk, asked if i could get some semi-skimmed and told they only use skimmed milk. Passed on the milk altogether. Won't be having a hot...

Maybe ok for coffee or soft drinks, but for a cup of tea, most disapointing. We had to ask for an extra two tea bags for the pot as it was so weak. The tea bags looked like plastic (never seen anything like them before)....

What a fantastic little cafe, such choice and all of it delicious. Breakfast bagel is gorgeous and they do some of the best scones in the city.

4 of us stopped for a lunchtime snack. The sandwiches were excellent and fairly priced. Coffees etc fine. The service was a bit disorganised, but friendly. The seating area is small.

We were Christmas shopping in Norwich and popped into Bonds aka John Lewis for a good cuppa & found Benugo which we thought (as did others) was a new John Lewis café. We ordered the "cream tea for two" which seemed excellent value at £6.95...

Stopped here with some work colleagues, service was quick, I had a fruit scone with jam and cream was very nice and fairly big, a little to hard round edge, but tasted very nice. Friendly helpful staff.

John Lewis handed over their (lively, welcoming, clean, well supported) in-house provision to this chain supplier. The result is a lack-lustre, uninspiring and costly cafe with no atmosphere and no welcome. Do not expect to have much choice when late night shopping - their shelves...

Don't go here if you're remotely hungry, thirsty or in a rush! The slowest service ever and over sweet hot chocolate. Won't be back.

I visited this cafe with my nine month old daughter as she needed to be fed. I purchased my drink, bypassing the food as it looked unappetising for how expensive it was. I was on my own with a pushchair, several bags and now carrying a drink and not one member of staff offered any assistance to me. I also had to get a high chair before sitting down as I didn't want to leave my daughter unattended. This was incredibly difficult trying to carry a high chair too. The only person who offered me help me was the kind lady employed by John Lewis working in the adjoining wall art department. The employees in Benugo really do need to think about their customers as people and not just as a conveyor belt. Nicer food and attentive service would justify the steep prices, but unfortunately they had neither on the day we visited.
