Great little pub and apparently very old. The atmosphere is really nice but the food unfortunately is really bad. For a place that is so old and would potentially get tourists over just to feel the vibe of such an old pub it would be worth investing in some better food.

Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here. Meat was plentiful, veg was just right, not too fluffed up Yorkshire and tasty roast potatoes. Sausage was a full one, not a chipolata. Gravy was thick and tasty. A good plateful served by friendly staff. Would recommend.

Lovely pub with great food and nice service. Cozy atmosphere, not in the middle of the city center so not packed with people and the food was delicious. Big portions, the pie crust was OUTSTANDING, the mash was nice and still had some pieces of potatoes which I love and the veg was cooked to perfection. The meat was slightly overcooked but it went quite unnoticed in the heaping amounts of gravy. If I ever come back to Norwich I’ll be back!

Real Ale, real people, real nice place to spend time. Spent a happy few hours on an August summers day. Rita and her staff offer a traditional English pub for those seeking a quiet time. (4 absolutely perfect ales sampled). The historic inn steeped in history inside whilst the outside garden area is charming. Access may be a tricky to one of the oldest pubs in the city built long before political correctness and spirit levels. Queuing is an art form and adds to to the ambience too.

Person collecting glasses (seemed like the manager) was extremely rude to a couple who where outside on the benches with their new born child. Told them they shouldn't be there with a child. Told them you shouldn't be drinking and the baby should be in bed. You should of fed the baby before you came. (Lady breastfeeding. Not bothering anybody at all). Disgusting behaviour. Will never go back and never recommend. Appalled by this behaviour in this day and age.

If it wasn’t for the picnic benches outside you might walk passed this place without realising it is a pub. In fact, it is the oldest pub in Norwich. On 9 May, 2024 I visited the Adam and Eve pub, for the first time in almost 50 years! This pop was the first pop I ever visited in my life. Upon arrival, I recognize the beautiful surroundings and the magnificent structure, and atmosphere of the pub. I noticed that the characteristic, and historic downstairs portion of the pub was roped off! There were about two or three customers sitting in the downstairs section, and I could not understand why the bartender would not allow anybody else down there! after waiting for a few minutes, the bartender, reluctantly, came upstairs and acted as if we had interrupted his social time! Even my partner, who is usually extremely forgiving, commented how rude and how abrupt this man was! I mentioned to the man that I had not been to that pub for almost 50 years, and he made a very derogatory comment about my age ! I found it necessary to buy this managing Antonick in order to get him to be slightly more pleasant to us! It is such a disappointment that such a beautiful and historic pup should be represented by such an unpleasant person. On my next visit, I shall visit the pub again, hoping that that person would not be behind the bar at the time of my visit. 🙏

Same as other peoples experience, the pub is a tiny rustic lovely little bolt holt. Nice beers, prefect "ye olde Norwich" experience (like Elm Hill etc). The peoblem is it run/staffed by a tiny, irrritated and perpetually rude little man. He was rude to 2 people in front of me and then rude again to me, so i juat decided to be the "bigger man". If i could give some advice, Frodo if it's not too late, id suggest you give up the ring (CEX or Mount Doom or Cash Convertors would take a cursed gold ring for scrap value) and return to the happy side of life, its never too late to live life without hate (plus its not all about size, dont let a little thing ruin your outlook on life).

Extremely rude, dirty and quitebpossibly the worst pub in Norwich by far. Staff are very famously rude and impolite, dirty and unkept. We went on a Saturday afternoon for a lunch, as is usual when we venture out, we took our small Cockapoo with us. When we entered the pub you would have though we commited murder, the long haired unclean looking barman immediately started shouting saying that dogs are not welcome and we had to be outside. I replied saying that on some reviews it stated that dogs were welcome (obviously incorrectly) he immediately replied with a rude and sniggeringly comment of "well we don't even have a website so I don't know where you got that from". To be honest it did us a favour as inside looked run down and tatty like it had not been cleaned in years, I don't mean like a quaint olde pub style I mean like a dirty boozer where they don't care one bit, making the non acceptance of dogs all the more confusing. I didn't mind them not accepting dogs after all it's their porogitive, however what I do mind in the sheet attitude of a barman who clearly thinks he is god's gift to student dive holes. The building has heritage and history however it's little more than a dirty student boozer, run by the great unwashed to serve the great unwashed. I employ anybody who is thinking of attending not to, Norwich has many great pubs sadly this is not one of them unless you are a student and not a very clean on at that. Steer clear. I've also heard the food is appalling and only edible if you need to soak up some sambuca shots (this is what a group of students said to us on the way out)

The service is pretty slow and our table was wobbly. The menu online is not the same as in the restaurant - I arrived looking forward to some pork belly with crackling but it wasn’t on the menu so I ordered the pork shoulder. After waiting a while for the food it was pretty disappointing. The amount of meat you get is pretty small and was overly salty. The vegetables, potatoes, gravy and Yorkshire were nothing special. My mother ordered the aubergine which was extremely tough and she was unable to cut it. The menu also states that each roast comes with cauliflower cheese but we only received 2 portions for 3 people. When we asked about this we were told that that’s just how much we get. Overall disappointing and would not recommend.
