Bread Source - Upper St Giles in Norwich

I have been there many times now both to have in or take away. They have a very nice selection of sweet and savory things. My top favorite is the almond croissant, raspberry and pistachio whirl and their vegetarian quiche. But everything I have had so far has been good and it is worth a try. Their coffee on the other hand is not one of my favorites. It's ok.

Great selection of cakes pastries and bread... The only downside on the day I visited was the cheese straws bit like eating cardboard...this was mentioned to a member of staff who were happy to change it for something different, apologised for not being upto their usual standards...

Nothing special. Hot drinks are tepid and staff are rude.

Delicious fresh bakery goods and sourdough breads,I just don't understand why a bakery like this one doesn't have a bread slicer doesn't make sense, every bakery whose called a bakery must have a bread slicer if s customer wants their bread sliced ,in Germany this would be unthinkable

Such a cute little cafe to just relax and unwind!And since the sun is out,I really liked their outdoor sitting!And all the staff are so friendly and attentive highly recommend! Only complaint would be the uncomfortable chair that they have!

Such a fantastic place for amazing bread and treats with good coffee too.

The coffee is good and the food on offer is good too. There isn’t enough seating and it’s very frustrating at lunch time when you get a single occupying a table for two with a book/laptop with an empty drink.

This place always has a great selection of different baked goods and I've never been disappointed in anything but my favourite has to be the raspberry and pistachio swirl - incredible!

A very popular bakery and quite a few branches scattered throughout Norwich and beyond. And growing. Great quality although can be quite pricey but a great Sunday morning treat is walking in and seeing the heavenly display of pastries, cakes, bread and more…..absolutely not for the Keto dieters out there. Trust me, it’s dangerous!

At 2pm today in the refrectory there was no lunch food available. I had a cookie and cup of tea. I sat at my table which was full of used dishes from the previous the customer. I have my tea delivered much longer than having my cookie. My table was not cleared of someone else's dishes while I tried to make room for my cookie plate and the cup and teapot served to me by staff. A very disspointing experience!

Overpriced pastries with okay taste. It used to be a good place to work but now they've removed the plugs.

Amazing selection of treats and goodies at all their locations. All freshly baked daily - pop in early to avoid disappointment

Pop up takeaway near cathedral during science week. Excellent range of sweet savoury outstanding price. More soft drinks would be the only thing to add.

Best cafe food you can find, they have so many options though mostly bread based obviously. Lots of vegan cake, burgers, pies to choose from the selection. It usually gets full inside most lunch times but it's a relaxed atmosphere with good music and plug sockets if you want to get work done!

First time visiting the city and happened upon this place for a little bite to eat. Everything was immaculate and by gum the bread was delicious! Might have to buy a pastry/doughnut to take away…

Firstly food lovely,doughnut was delicious, very much let down by customer service, there was 3 young ladies behind counter all appeared to be laughing at customers, sadly won't be returning even though food great.

Good bakery products. Service not so good. Tables not cleaned, little sense of urgency or attentiveness. Apparently no table service, abruptly told to go round to front of shop to order despite being about 2 meters away from the back of the counter where we could of ordered. Not like we were pushing in as no one else waiting. Nice location and setting but wouldn’t rush back to use the cafe. Would happily buy the bread though.

If you come here and have the carrot cake your whole day will be perfect

A comfy cafe with lovely friendly staff, I had the banana muffins and two pots of tea which were so so nice.

Ooh pastries ooh so flaky, proper nice croissants wtc and interesting herb teas, fresh mint, lemon grass and ginger. They have a small selection of misc things like honey and a sour dough bread book. As it is a proper bakery you cannot get anything gluten free sadly.

Great little artisan coffee and cafe house in the lanes of Norwich. !! Beautiful ambience and great natural food. Catering for everyones tastes and dietary requirements. Beautiful space either takeaway or eat in doors or alfresco in the quiet courtyard ..

To be honest, the pastries aren't that special. They do have quite a few choices but l do found them quite dry. Once l picked a mushroom pie thinking they might heat it up but unfortunately they don't have any heating facility. So l had it cold and l have to say it was the worst ever pie that l've ever tasted. lt was so dry and tastless! Also they will start cleaning up an hour before they shut and l'd like to warn you that you would not get any good and friendly service at that time.

Friendly staff, clean airy space, great coffee and delicious cakes. Highly recommend the carrot cake and raspberry crumble.

Comfortable, good food, friendly staff and a youthful atmosphere. Lots to choose from and great to satisfy the sweet tooth.

I was quite excited to try this place out for the first time so I took my sister and niece there with me. We ordered 2 pastries which only came with one plate so I had to ask for another one. The staff wasn't particularly friendly, helpful or engaging. The pastries were nice but a little dry. The coffee was nice but I'm not in a hurry to go back, sadly.

Everything I've had here has been fantastic. I particularly like the Pagnotta.

Wonderful coffee and specially cakes. I wish you would make more almond croissants. It is almost impossible to get them unless you are up at the crack of dawn. Please make more to put in your shops especially the refectory at the Cathedral.

I have used this bakery over the last few years, ordering on line and then collecting. Their pastries and bread are superb, we especially enjoy their spelt bread, in my opinion the best artisan bakery in Norwich by far, we have tried them all.

One of the best coffees you can get in Norwich. Cool & calm environment to work in, & the sausage roll is the best I've ever had.

Purchased two pizzas . Very expensive with minimal toppings . Had to add more ingredients when we got home . Very disappointing as I had heard such good things . Sadly won’t be back

Some people in Norwich speak about Bread Source with the same degree of wonder as those fortunate few, who have witnessed an apparition of our Blessed Lady. I am not so easily enamoured. After a certain age, butterflies and the magic of yeast, flour and sugar tend to pass you by. You expect to see butterflies without having to endure caterpillars and enjoy bread without having to kiss the bakers apron. The bread and pastries are fine, what is not so fine are the staff. Often they behave as if they are celebrities and you are just another grubby trucker troubling them for their autographs. One redeeming exception to this charmless morass is the young staff member called Wesley. This young man works hard, shows attention to detail and can easily be prevailed upon to smile. I hope that the rest of the team at Bread Source learn from Wesley. Dealing with customers, many of whom can be casually rude is not easy. But charm is an underrated quality and will be more useful in your future career than many of the courses you spent years studying in school and college. 3 stars, brought up to 5.

Great little bakery, can see all the products available from the path and order straight at the door. Can become busy and cause congestion on the path but worth the wait!

Lovely baked goods and bread, but the cafe on St Giles has been ruined by a strange new arrangement of the furniture. Even sit-in customers have to stand up, go outside and order through the front door. As a result it’s open all the time and really cold in the winter. Much better when both halves of the space were open.

This is a modern bakery with delicious artisan breads, filled rolls, sweet and savoury pastries and barista coffee. They also sell flour. Most people take away the food, but there is window seating and about 4 tables with high stools in the main dining area and 3 tables with ordinary chairs in the back. I think there might be outside seating in the garden (not sure). Modern "industrial" decor and felt clean. Lovely staff - very helpful and friendly despite it being a very busy bakery with an early start (7.30am). Had a Goats cheese roll with caramelised onions and a Mocha £7.50 - all very fresh, delicious and priced fairly.

The Mocha was absolutely lovely and the pastries was rather nice too. However, when leaving the store me and my partner said thank you and goodbye with no response from the staff, except for a quick raise of the eyebrows. Perhaps they were having a bad day, but regardless it costs nothing to bid someone a nice day and your welcome, especially in customer service.

Amazing selection of freshly made baked goods and coffee made to order. Quality of the food is incredible, but still on the pricey side.

Lovely staff, food, and drinks. Such a chunky pain au chocolat! Let down by the poor quality bathrooms - I'm chronically ill so it's a fairly big deal.

A great hidden gem of a cafe, I highly recommend the Halloumi and Vegetable Pie, absolutely delicious.

I've had take out before and loved it. Today I went here to meet my cousin and sat outside in the back yard garden which was in the shade 11-12.30 but warm with a great selection of plants. Friendly service, delicious, unique/surprising treats and of course great company! (I cannot guarantee that last one for you though)

Pastries there is amazing and what you pay for is worth. but the brioche bun with chicken was a little pricy unless they actually made their own bun? Otherwise is just some chicken with nice mayo in a bun with fresh lettuce. I found most of the savoury pastries or sandwiches there are on the small side with the amount they are charging in my opinion..the cardamom bun and the banana muffins were good but were not many Vegan options. Also had a leek pie with bacon and cheese. A touch bigger would have been very satisfied.

One of the best bakeries / patisseries in Norwich, you will find everything there and surely something to your taste, if you want a really good coffee, I nevertheless advise you to go to Kofra next door. During our expatriation with my good French partner, we were looking for good bread and this place really reminded us of home despite the absence of baguettes.. In short, a lovely place filled with delicious food!!!

Please make sure if you are eating here to CHECK through and then double check salads whether in sandwiches or other consumables. I was an unlucky one who didn't think to (as.. why would I?!), so ended up eating (yep, full on digested) half of a SLUG which I then realised upon closer inspection had left slug trails all over the Lettuce, inside my ham and cheese sandwich. 2 weeks after contacting bread source and them acknowledging what happened and offering to send vouchers as a 'sorry' I have heard and had nothing. Difficult to have good to say about a company who don't compensate customers who have had an absolutely disgusting experience.

Bread Source is an artisan bakery but I go there for their delicious coffee and pastries. Their raspberry pistachio danish is delicious! And so are the brownie, carrot and lemon cakes. They have a few shops in Norwich but my favourite one so far (I've visited two of them) is the one on Upper St Giles Street.

Best bakery around. Amazing sourdough breads and pastries. Delicious local honey for sale. Fantastic staff.

Wow. So I wouldn't usually take the time to give a bad review but the bread source on st Giles customer service was disgusting today. Myself and my partner were outside deciding what to get. Ordered a doughnut, the lady that took my order (Asian lady with dark hair) looked me up and down and got the item. She didn't tell me how much I owed just put the amount on the machine and looked at me waiting for me to tap. So I did. She didn't hand me my item just left it on the counter. I had to ask if the money had gone through and I was okay to take it. She nodded leaving my item on the counter before getting on with something else. Felt like giving her my money was a real inconvenience. Has completely put me off going especially when I was so excited. My partner also noticed as I was concerned I was being oversensitive. Apparently not. Had just come from Cupcake and Co where the staff were lovely, what a hard fall to reality that was. Won't even review the food as this is what stood out.

Very nice designer coffee. You order outside at the entrance but there is inside to sit. Good atmosphere, chill. Very close to the Plantation Garden, ideal for something warm after the walk.

Usually I would give 5 stars as I love this shop. But not today because I bought a packet of 6 mince pies for £7.50 which were very disappointing. Not much flavour and doughy pastry. I thought maybe a one off dissapointment so moved on to the slice of Christmas Cake that was £3.00. This was very dry and was topped with the thinnest possible piece of marzipan. I wasted £11.50.
