What a lovely local bar. Very friendly staff and customers. The bar is very clean and has a huge selection of spirits, beers and cocktails. They offer great drinks and food deals and specials. If you're on a day or night out, Od recommends this Eltham pub..

It's okay. 2.5 stars is probably fairer but you can't do that on this app. Prices a little high for what the pub is (£6 for a Moretti), from where I was sitting near the door there was a persistent smell of smoke despite nobody smoking outside, couldn't work it out.

Still a great place to come and have a beer. The management and staff are great

I went in for an evening meal! Food was fantastic. Service was superb. I had the prawns dish which was 10/10. I have OCD and things on the plate were touching. I spoke to a member of staff. Joe I believe was their name. I had my food reorganised on a fresh plate. Everyone was totally understanding. I would definitely come back if I’m back in the area. I scoffed down the food so didn’t take a pic aha. Thanks team for your support.

Not a lover of local public houses on a regular basis. Came in a few weeks ago to find it is under new management. Hazel is a breath of fresh air and brings a touch of class to The Rising Sun. Now it has become a regular for my partner and I. The atmosphere is amazing, especially on a Saturday karaoke night. Such a shame that some regulars do not like the change, which in my view is for the better. Popped in yesterday to find Hazel gone and a new manager in her place. The vegan burger was served without its usual slaw and salad. The fries were way over cooked. I mentioned the missing items and the manager said nothing and walked off. Would never have happened if Hazel was still in charge. The nice friendly atmosphere has also disappeared along with Hazel. The chef was friendly once behind the bar. Now Hazel has left my partner and I will no longer visit here, even my partners daughter missed Hazel and said its not the same without her. Such a shame she has been pushed There are other public houses within the area with a better atmosphere and food!

We popped in for a bite of dinner between stops. The service was spot on. Shelby was friendly and informative. We had a good laugh with her. The pub has a cozy atmosphere. I can imagine it gets quite busy. We ordered the pretzel, halloumi sticks, steak and ale pie with garden peas and chips, and the BBQ chicken all of the food was good except the pretzel. I wouldn’t order that one again. All in all, we will come back again.

I'm going to town over my recent visit today, i can strongy recommend the Flat Iron Steak £14-45 👌Drinks on top of this Stella is £5 & a shilling 😳 work that out? The host is Hazel, amazing Woman who is top of the situation running the place 👏

We booked for 4 adults and 2 children (one in a highchair). For 4.45pm for dinner. When we arrived we were told that the chef wasn't going to be back until 5.10pm. We waited for more than 20 minutes for food which arrived just after 5.30pm. Apart from the kids' meals (nuggets and chips), the food was inedible, the roast chicken and roast potatoes were so dry. The carrots and cauliflower cheese were cold and tasted horrible, the gravy was a tiny portion and what we had was so lumpy. We were missing items from our meals (yorkshire pudding and seasoned greens). The bbq chicken sauce was so sour and looked terrible. They didn't have certain items in stock which was disappointing. Comments made by the staff seemed to suggest this was a management issue for ordering stock rather than them simply running out. The pub was empty and with our experience I'm not surprised. This being said, the staff were really understanding and helped us with all our queries. We ended up getting it refunded and were offered drinks for free but with us having a very young child with us we couldn't stay any longer.

Monday 7th August '23 5.30pm. The guy behind the bar, Alex, is an old school bartender. Great service and great attitude and great music. He's working really hard to please everyone, and the buzz is brilliant for a Monday afternoon. I'll definitely be back soon.

Nice pub. Hadn't been for a long time but it's been refurbished and is nice. Reasonably priced as well which helps!

Comfortable place for a drink & chat, nice background music. Polite & friendly staff. We had a meal, pie with chips, it was ok & edible, the pie was huge, but I have had nicer. Will go back again & try something else on the menu.

Lovely atmosphere to the place and amazing service from the staff. It's nice to receive a warm welcome by the staff and manager hazel when first coming into the establishment.

I was in the pub last week for a few drinks with my wife and son, when I over heard a conversation between two staff members. I later was told by another customer that was the manger called hazel that was talking very abruptly to another member of staff. I was later informed by the same customer who told me who hazel was that a few members of staff have left the previous weeks and I’m not surprised if that how management are aloud to treat their staff. her demeanour towards her staff has left me cold I find it very unprofessional and was horrible to hear. I will not be returning

As an ex employee of this pub by looking at the reviews it's not nice to see how bad customers are now being treated and to be honest the staff are not treated well either its such a shame it was a lovely pub with a good atmosphere and a nice place to work for it know to go so down hill 3 members of staff have left in the past 2 weeks just goes to show that the management and greene king as a company do not care about staff or their customers as somone whos worked in hospitality for 12 years I have never worked in a place as bad as greene king its no surprise that wetherspoons are so much more superior

If I could give any less than one star I would. I had a vile experience when visiting the Rising Sun, an employee called Lewis gave me the upmost worst experience I have ever dealt with, I am quite frankly shocked he has achieved a role in customer service with the attitude he presented me with. Your management has some serious work to do when training staff and should most definitely sivth through their employees. If this is the environment you want your customers to visit, you definitely should not have a business.

Been a regular in this pub for years and it’s always been great….until tonight. Went in with my wife, brother, sister-in law and niece and we were having a fine time until one of the barman complained we were making too much noise. We were at the back and not bothering anybody yet the barman came down from upstairs claiming he thought we were rowing despite me playing on the floor with my 5 year old niece. We drank up quick and left. Thought this was a family pub? Won’t be going back while this barman is working there.

Karaoke 🎤 nights every other Saturdays is brilliant. DJ Duncan is great! Hazel, the manager, is the best they have had in years. She has really cleaned up the place. Give it a try this Saturday!

Was visiting the Rising Sun last Sunday whilst shopping. The service was very friendly, food delicious, prices good, and surroundings comfortable. We'll definitely be back.

A quiet pub on a Monday evening but a good place to stop and have a drink. Quick service and plenty of places to sit. Very close to the Eltham bus stops if you are waiting for a bus.

It was my favorite pub. Why they had to change things is beyond me. Gone are the staff and the beer price has rocketed. Food good but wont be going

Served green king ipa which is usually pretty average and boring but the rising sun served easily the best and most memorable pint of ipa i have had. The pub was quiet, however it was a monday night and the lone barman was making the most of the quiet time by cleaning and organising the bar, he was also friendly and approachable.

Popped in for lunch yesterday, 2nd visit in last couple of weeks .Once again received a friendly welcome.Enjoyed toasties for lunch.Freshly prepared,well filled and very tasty.My husband said his pint of IPA was excellent. Staff friendly. Had a late Sunday roast, but meat was dried up,potatoes were only warm and not crispy, and a mystery item of a flat pancake disc, could have soled my shoes with it ??? Overall a disappointment. My companion had a freshly cooked meal which seemed OK, certainly better than mine

It's a Greene King establishment, the pub itself is small but cosy, nice and clean, the clientele are local (Eltham is respectable). Prices very reasonable, a good enough selection on the food menu which I will try next time.

So sorry the staff were lovely and very accommodating but the food was the worse I'd ever had in a pub.

We had an excellent experience Ted was really polite and helpful and our meals were great as well the service Ellie the assistant manager was welcoming and friendly the staff really made our visit memorable and this was our first visit and we will definitely be coming back nothing was too much trouble snd we felt valued

Usually a great place to visit however we booked our table and after arriving we were told there was no tables available. We then had to look elsewhere. Poor communication.

Food was horrendous, lasagne came burnt as did half the garlic bread. staff were polite and helpful. wouldn't go again or recommend!

Great music, best pub grub for miles around, super friendly staff and dog friendly to boot! Can't fault them at all, will easily be a regular as we're local. They've also done exceptionally well adapting to the safety requirements of the pandemic and we feel very safe going here. Even the Mrs can't fault them and she's a picky one. Great pub, great customer service, I am delighted and highly recommend "The Rising Sun". My boyfriend and I popped down late Thursday's evening (before kitchen was supposed to close) as we were very very hungry and tried our luck! We were greeted by manager Alex and calmed down that we will get food, though it was 8.45pm. Thank you chef Pepe for staying extra time and feeding us!!!! We had a lovely dinner (burger platter, nachos, skewer), couple of drinks served by Lucy and Allenie:). I am impressed by customer service in this place and will definitely be back. What a lovely welcome back to eating out. Friendly, helpful staff who made me and my family feel so at home. Mac ‘n’ Cheese was a hit as was the Chicken Katsu Burger.

3rd time I’ve ordered for the take away meal for two. It’s a good price and I’d recommend this restaurant.

Fab place for a lunchtime refuel. Burgers and kids meals all hit the spot, with brilliant provision for the little ones- colouring in, great kids menu and staff unfazed by the mess and chaos. Small downside in the lack of baby change but otherwise perfect family pub lunch.
