Chutney Tandoori in Greenwich

Mixed reviews on here and looked very quiet (Tuesday night) so I was unsure but decided to try it. I met two men coming out who said they had been several times and found it excellent so in I went. The staff confirmed a previous review here that you can bring your own drink so I nipped across the road to Tesco for that. It is small and unpretentious but the food was good. I had chicken pakora (soft batter and tender chicken - very good), a cheese naan (good, quite small but fine for one), butter chicken (good, plenty of chicken, although sweeter than I would prefer) and pilau rice. Just under £20 so good value as well. If I am back in the area I plan to return and try a curry next time.

If you want to stay hungry than order from this “restaurant”. Appalling service as well because they told me I need to order more food if I want to stay there longer than 20 min. Disgusting people.

I tried a few of the starters and curries and overall my favourite was the lambchops, So tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. Deliver service was good. Also very affordable! The cuisine was absolutely mouthwatering especially the Biryani, I got some for my whole family and they loved it. Im definitely going to come back and try again, maybe even be a regular customer. Big shoutout to the chef 😊

My personal experience was exceptional with them. I had a chicken bryani which was amazing. Portion size is very generous and very affordable as well. Would love to have some more takeaways from the place. Good food without burning the pocket. Quick service.

Ordered in. Food was bland and watery. Chicken was tough and the korahi was half way between a soup and a stew. Avoid this place. A waste of money.

I was staying at a nearby hotel for a London exhibition, and this was the local Indian restaurant; ratings were inconsistent on TripAdvisor, but I decided to give it a try. On entering, there was a table with some guys on who were attending the same exhibition as me; I asked them if the restaurant served drinks, and they said it was BYO... happy days! One trip to the Tesco across the road later and I was sorted. Before I had even sat down, a wine glass was produced for the wine I had brought in with me. My order was taken promptly, professionally and with good humour. The poppadoms were fresh and crisp, and the chutneys and mint sauce were also fresh. I ordered Chicken Tikka Dhansak, garlic mushrooms and garlic naan; there was plenty of sauce and meat, and the naan was light and fluffy. During the meal, I was asked if the meal was good; it certainly was! Overall... very attentive and responsive staff, a great atmosphere, excellent food and an excellent dining experience. I conferred with the other guys in the restaurant who were attending the same exhibition as me; they echoed my thoughts that previous TripAdvisor reviews had not done this restaurant justice: it was a true gem, and deserving of a 5-star review.

To put it simply, it’s just very good quality Indian food. Portions are massive, it’s ridiculously cheap. Setting is simplistic but we’re there to eat not admire the wallpaper!

Their foods are always tasty and serves hot as well. Quantity is really good. Their meat thali is my favourite. 2 adults can easily share that thali. Their service is good and they are friendly as well.

Tried out their extra spicy biriyani which was EXTRA hot. Medium hotness was enough since I couldn't taste any other spices other than the chilly. Their plater (Including Tandoori Chicken, Pappadam, Salads and Sauces + Pulao + Chicken Curry + Potato Curry+Nan ) for one is enough for two pax since they serve decent portions. Tandoori chicken was tasty and must try.

Get a takeaway from here now and then. Good food and decent prices!

Wish I'd read the reviews before I went . Don't waste your money....complain and you get nowhere, VERY VERY basic Poor quality food ....never again !!!!!!!!! The Chicken was so dry and tough. The rice had no flavour at all. The place was shabby and dirty looking. Staff were inadequate.

Ate here last week. The decor is basic, but the food we had was great and at a great price. We had the meat thali, plus a veg side dish and shared it between the two of us and there was plenty. I never order lamb in an Indian restaurant because it's often tough, but what we had here was lovely and tender. As already stated there is no alcohol served here, but we didn't miss it.

We had fantastic dinner here yesterday. It’s a very low key place and most of the orders seem to be takeaway but the menu had plenty of choices and service was great. Prices were excellent too, portions good and the food really flavoursome.

I really liked their food. Chaat Masala, Tandoori Lamb Chops dishes were so yummy. I will definitely order again!

I ordered one of the Too Good to Go magic boxes and it was great! There were two curries, rice and poppadums - more than enough food for one person. They had it ready for me to take away immediately, and the food was tasty and filling.

I went to pick up a 'Good to Go' deal. For £6 I got a single portion of chicken curry, a single portion of pilau rice and a single portion of Bombay Aloo. A single portion for me might be considered enough for 2 people :) Each portion was packed separately and the chef cooked it fresh for me.

I'm surprised at the low rating for Chutney. I've ordered several times since moving into the area and everything has been excellent quality and really tasty.

Eaten in and had many takeaways (and will have many more...) from Chutney Tandoori. I've tried a variety of curries and each time they are full of flavour, good sized portions and reasonably priced. From a takeaway point of view, they've always delivered quickly. Food arrives well packed and hot. Ticks every box that you'd want from a takeaway. The restaurant itself is small and unassuming. You don't go for a fancy evening, you go for a tasty curry and in pleasant restaurant with friendly staff. All in all, I would highly recommend. (Writing this has made me hungry... Maybe I should give them a call)

It's a nice Indian takeaway near Deptford station. You get the standard Indian dishes and won't disappoint. The seating can seem a little less spacious, however in all fairness, this is not a fine dining place.

I had a takeaway last night it was yummy, Dansak is my favourite and it is really good from the Chutney. The boss is very helpful and will deliver when you want your food. Impressed with the quality of food from the little restaurant/take-way. Did not have high expectations of this place when I looked at it from the street. Not one of these fancy places you normally see. I decided to give it a try because I was living at the Travelodge just opposite it. To my surprise, the food was excellent. Arguably the best curry my family and I had for a long time. Everyone enjoyed it. Ordered the Jilly Special (mild prawns), Korahi Lamb Chops (medium), Murgh Makhni (Butter Chicken) and Lamb Jalfrazi (hot, but not too hot :) - Every dish was had a unique taste and was delicious. The food, in fact, was too much for the four of us in the family. We were well satisfied with the portions served. PS: They also deliver to surrounding areas. One dish is enough for two people to share, especially if you're ordering rice or bread together with the curry.

Got T/A from here as it was reasonable and had decent reviews. Service was fine at drop off and found the place easily and called me to let me know. But honestly the food isn’t the best: The curry (veggie korma): is quite bland not to much flavour. Onion bhaji: taste like flour and undercooked and cold The (peshwari) naan: which also came cold had strange crunchy bits I haven’t had in a naan before -Honestly didn’t enjoy it and hardly ate it, Such a shame as the reviews are good maybe this was one bad experience

It's a small place and does a lot of collection and deliveries. We were the only ones in there eating in on a Friday night but noticed a lot of take outs and deliveries. Generous portions and good reasonable prices. Theres a massive variety to choose from. I thought the food was a bit bland but probably because they catered for a lot non Asians. It just wasn't rich in flavour the way I'm used to curries. But I did scoff the lot though!

Chutney Tandoori is my go to Indian. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. They've recently improved their vegetable Patia (it was already very good!) to be more rich in vegetables, which makes me very happy as a vegetarian. Always spot on! :)

Please ignore the unwelcoming outside and the fact that it looks closed. The food is brilliant and unforgettable. The owner, Kaptan, and his family are very friendly and always welcome us as though we are long lost family. No alcohol, but as we are non-drinkers that's fine by us. Take your own from the co-op opposite, but we would recommend the lassi instead.

Ordered here for the 1st time tonight. Had a set meal for 2. The guy on the phone was Very helpful. 1st thing was it was Very good value for money. 2nd was it Arrived within an hour (on a Friday night that was excellent). 3rd it was Very tasty and we enjoyed it thoroughly. My only complaint would be no mango chutney and the lamb chops looked rather anorexic... But id definatly order again....

This was the nearest restaurant to our hotel, but the menu immediately enticed me. The food is very well prepared, with delicious fluffy naan, buttery rice and well balanced spiced curries/balties. I chose a vegetarian Thali, which gives you 4 different small curry choices plus naan, rice and a samosa and my husband had the lamb tikka masala. I’m from Birmingham so am used to a wide variety of great curries and balties and this restaurant didn’t disappoint. The service was very friendly and unintrusive, and if you can ignore the basic interior, this is a great gem in Greenwich.

When staying at the Double tree i often go here as just round corner. Also had a good curry & at a good price . Tesco straight across the road for a couple of cobra.

Current owners have let the place run down badly.

Quelle bonne surprise au détour d'une ruelle et proche de l'hôtel où l'on séjournait que ce petit restaurant Indien! Comme certains le disent, c'est clair que ça ne paye pas de mine mais la curiosité nous y a fait entrer! Il est vrai que l'accueil n'est pas la spécialité mais pas rapport à d'autres c'est correct. La cuisine est bonne et parfumée!

we ordered naans, curry, aloo chat and chicken tandoori. I wont be wrong if I say it is the worst food of my lifetime. From naans to curry to chats everything was sweet despite my request to make it a lil spicy. Even the raita ws sweet. Too bland food. Order at your own risk.

Un pequeño restaurante que no se ve mucho desde el exterior pero por dentro estaba limpio y funcional. No sirve alcohol, pero el personal señaló Sainsburys al otro lado de la carretera, así que fue te permite traer tu pripia bedida alcohólica. Menú interesante con unos pocos platos inusuales pero el entrante de parrillada mixta era muy bueno y unas madras muy condimentadas / calientes para seguir eran iguales a los lugares de posher. Excelente relación calidad-precio y el personal no podía hacer más! Era efectivo solo el día en que la máquina de tarjetas no funcionaba. Definitivamente regresaría de nuevo.

A very small restaurant next to the doubletree Hilton hotel, so perfect for tourists. This restaurant feels like going into someone’s home from the front door to the tacky interior. We were the only people in the restaurant at dinner time yet had to wait quite a while for our food. We ordered 3 different types of biryani however they were all the same and lacked flavour. The waiter was nice, the food was very average and the restaurant is in a convenient location, however I wouldn’t go again. The prices were the same as much better curryhouses in London.

Some reviews must be written by staff family or delivery drivers they use. The food is garbage rice microwaved, you hear the ping then it appears plate boiling around the edges, hygiene of the staff is questionable aswell as the venue. Avoid at all costs.

A nice local Indian/Pakistani restaurant in Deptford/Grenwich. Not BYO, but you can grab a bottle of something across the road at Tescos. Lovely staff. Good value. Good food

Nos alojamos al lado en el Doubletree y vimos el "Chutney" cuando paso. Tuve la oferta de £10 entrante y plato principal. El primer plato era delicioso como Bhaji de cebolla era el Pollo Korma con guarniciones de arroz y Bombay patatas. Comida muy sabrosa a un precio increíble. Algunas de las últimas críticas negativas debe de haber sido en otro lugar. !

Thought it would be a good idea to order from here as we were staying near by. Reviews looked good and pleasant, so was looking foward to a decent indian takeaway. The portion sizes were very good and the food came piping hot when we picked up the order. Korma was tasteless, nann bread was like carboard and onion bhajis were very dissapointing. Also, mattar paneer and chaat masala wernt very pleasing to eat. The chicken tikka munghlai was nice and also a nice gesture too put a free curry with the order.

Encontramos algo de comida india después de estar lejos de casa, la comida sabía a casa, eran bien cocinado y nan sabía fabuloso. Comí tanto que no podía respirar. Una parada restaurante si estás buscando una buena comida India.

As someone who works away from home 5 days a week, sometimes I go out with colleagues and sometime I prefer to eat alone (There's only so much work talk that can be had)Tonight was a night where I wanted to eat alone and outside of my hotel. I had heard that the food was decent here, so as it was near I thought I would try it, initially walking in for takeaway, but deciding I would stay and eat as it was quiet.First things first, if you are a solo eater here, the chutney tray does not reach your table.... Obviously I wasn't spending enough to get the 50p worth of poppadom and sauces, yet the array of equally boring eating partners around me happily tucked in (the waiter with a cough probably discharged in it anyway so I wasn't offended).Secondly.... As a solo eater, you have more time to take in your surroundings and my what a delight (slight hint of sarcasm) they are.If you like the colour red then you're in for a treat, if you like dirty and aged red then you will not want to leave. If you like dirty, aged, gloomy red surroundings then you will almost certainly reach climax.Unfortunately, my love for these characteristics is about as much as my love for bungee jumping whilst drinking a pint of cats urine.Service.... Service?....... Service????...... Again, the £24 I spent as a solo eater wasn't enough to be served with enthusiasm. Waiting for drinks and generally being ignored were particular highlights of the evening, along with being hurried along to eat up, pay and vacate the delightful establishment (if you can call it that).The food was below average, the service is better in Tesco across the road and the surroundings are what you might expect from a lap dancing bar in Neath Port Talbot. Apart from that, I had a most splendid evening and I would welcome everyone who is anyone to try their luck here!!

Visited here with a friend. We arrived fairly early so were the only customers in the restaurant for a while, but it soon got busier. Between us we both ordered a main meal and shared several sides as well as rice and naan. The daal was a highlight, as was the coconut rice. when the bill came we were shocked by how cheap it was. Service was bordering on the perhaps, over zealousness, however 10/10 for effort.I

I have been a regular to the restaurant since staying in a nearby hotel. Originally I popped in with just getting a take away in mind, but on seeing the peaceful atmosphere inside I ate in and was glad I did. Every week since I've been in the area I have usually visited once. The food has always been great, very tasty and the prices are very reasonable. This is coming from someone who lives in the north of England too. One of my favourite dishes is per the picture I've uploaded. Service has always been excellent too.The restaurant is located in a busy area, next to a junction on a main road which isn't ideal if you judge locations by their exterior given the amount of traffic fumes as countless vehicles race each other when the lights go green!. Inside, the tables and chairs are always laid out well (as the pic shows) with spotless linen covers. Highly recommend if you want a great value meal in the area, I will miss it when I no longer work nearby.

If you read the other reviews like I did and decide to visit this restaurant as I did! Please do yourself a favour. As you enter this place, just turn around and look at the door. Absolutely filthy! Surely the management and staff can see this as they use the same door every day! You see my point don't you?If the inside of the restaurant is filthy then what is the kitchen like?I rest my case.

First of all this is not a indian restraint, this is a Bangladeshi restraunt.the food is the worst had a vegetable balti and didn't feel any taste had to throw the sabzi...pls don't eat from here..

We didn't get our usual sundries i.e raita for the poppadoms and the naan we received was garlic or plain not Peshwari naan as ordered.

The delivery guy was great, as I have a broken leg he brought the food to my flay door. Great service. As always, I wished I had ordered more onion baji, but that's me being greedy.

Food was very good, although missing one rice portion that was ordered! Turned up 15mins later than it said it would apparently the number I had was incorrect have since checked and its the correct number so seems like an excuse! Anyway food was very good, takeaway service not so good!

Another delicious takeaway from Chutney. This is my forth order for in 3 weeks! I'm absolutely loving this place. Highly recommended as it's the best Indian takeaway around. Chicken tikka masala and lamb balti are the nuts!! Thank guys

Always a great curry. Delivery was a little slow but the driver apologised that he was inundated with orders - no one wanted to cook after the bank holiday weekend!

This place is excellent. Takeaway arrived on time and food was fresh and delicious. Price was very good. I have tried all the takeaways around here and this by far beats all of them. So glad I took a chance because I've found the best Indian takeaway around here.

Having eaten in this 'restaurant' twice in the past week due to working in the area I can concur with much of what has been already written. The staff are friendly, happy to recommend options and service is prompt.The food is actually above average with a number of more unusual dishes on offer and at a remarkably good price. But the decor is, to put it politely, tired; the frontage far from appealing ; and the toilets leave a lot to be desired.So, one where you pay your money and take your chance but this is definitely not a venue for a romantic table for two!

Biryani should have raita or Salam with it, which was missing. Veg gravy was alternative which made no sense

We visited this place along with few friends for dinner. The place turned out to be average, I think it's better for takeaways than dining. Overall it wasn't great experience and will not recommend this!

Fantastic food, one of the best curries I've had!

Delivery over an hour late,rang to ask if there was a problem, was told the food was ready they were waiting for a driver....and would be at least another half hour...... driver apologetic but still, wasn't hungry by the time it eventually arrived. Which is just as well as part of my order was missing and the extra dish they added was cold.
