Xiongqi Hotpot Southampton in Southampton

Was hopeful to try this restaurant. Lovely friendly waitress. Explained how to choose and cook the food. But was very disappointed in the experience. The broths were absurdly overly salted (enough to induce kidney failure!). Overpowered the taste of the meats. The vegetables were ok - but tasted better raw rather than cooked. Am I glad we tried this restaurant? Yes. Will I return or recommend? Sadly - no

I went to Xiongqi for lunch. We ordered a duo mala and tomato soup base. For dishes, we had a mixture of lamb, seafood, tofu and pulled noodles. The food came quickly and they were delicious. My kids enjoyed cooking their own food in the hotpot. The mala was very spicy but my husband who loved spicy food gave it a big thumbs up

It's our first time here. We had dual soup - Mala and mushrooms, sliced pork belly, chicken thigh, shrimp and vegetables platter. The food was amazing. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!

This was the best meal we’ve had in Southampton in a long time. The service was superb, and staff were happy to explain to us what to do and what to order. We chose the bone broth and the butter chicken broth. The ingredients we chose were all fresh and beautifully presented. But the flavour was the star of the show. Absolutely some the most delicious food we have ever eaten. Can’t recommend this highly enough

Went here for valentines meal with my partner. I had been sussing out this place up for a while as it looked intriguing and seemed to be busy all the time, however I was worried due to the lack of reviews and concerns about not easily understanding the menu. After plucking up the courage to go, I needn’t have worried as it was a lovely experience. Staff explained the menu and how to order, were attentive to our needs (asked if we needed cutlery), showed us what to do with the oil soy sauce dip. They tended the table as we were eating, clearing empty plates and topping up the water in our pot. The food itself was delicious. We went for the beef meal set menu at £62, which said it fed 2/3 people. It easily fed the two of us, and would have comfortably fed 3. We were stuffed by the end of it, plenty of food to go round. The broth was half spicy and half bone broth, the spicy wasn’t too hot, but I preferred the bone. When we were ready to go the waitress was quick with our bill and took payment quickly which I think is always an added bonus. I would 100% recommend this place, don’t let something new put you off going. I look forward to returning with a bigger group of friends!

First time to eat there and the staff was very friendly and helpful and showed us how it works from ordering to serving of food. It’s not a big restaurant but the ambiance is there. Will definitely go back.
