Fave Chinese in woolston! Bit annoying it’s cash only, however worth it, 10/10

Not sure if the chefs have changed but not up to usual standards. Have used Peking Gourmet for many years as it’s been so good but the shredded beef was so overcooked it was like string and the rest was just lacking real taste.

The chips where cold took 1 hour and 30 mins for delivery and very poor quality of food will not be ordering from here again shame really cause it’s local to everywhere near woolston if your gonna do good do it at its best please

We had a takeaway from here (chicken balls, black bean and starters) and it was delicious. Fast preparation and easy collection. Would use again.

Waited nearly two hours for soggy rice, sweet curry sauce and smallest portion of chips ever. Sweet and sour was OK. Sorry guys never again .

The BEST Chinese I’ve had, won’t go anywhere else now. Constantly recommending this place to others. Yes the prices have increased slightly but per person is still cheaper than most Chinese take always. Great value and even better food.

The best takeaway in Woolston, period. These are some really hardworking bunch of guys who prepare fresh food right there in front of you. We always ask them to make our order spicy and are never disappointed. We love the prawn starters, their vegetable fried rice and curry sauces it’s the perfect dinner on a cold evening. Service is quick too. Haven’t had a more than 10-15 min wait time and prices are quiet reasonable for the quantity provided. All in all will be ordering from them a lot more in the future!

Very friendly staff served quickly and all cooked in front of me but was a little disappointed with food batter on bannana fritters were soggy I like mine crispy but was given lots of chicken balls though.

I have been looking for a Chinese as good as this in Southampton for years. This is definitely the best in Southampton. I've ordered many times and it's always fresh tasting and I've never had any complaints, please keep it up! 😆

It used to be the best Chinese but prices are now high and the portions are becoming ridiculously small very very disappointed on my last visit

Truly a gem of a place - the fact that you can see how they prepare your food from the counter makes you feel at ease about the quality of their cooking. Portion sizes are massive and the food is gorgeous especially the Singapore Fried Rice 👍🏼 everything is deliciously prepared. We were short of a quid as they only accept cash payments, bring enough cash with you. Despite that they let us go - we will definitely be back to try their other dishes, and the return the £1.

I love this place. Everyone is so friendly and greet us like old friends. I love to go in and just watch them cook while waiting for our food. I love water chestnuts and thay happily add them to my noodles. We also have delivery sometimes and it always delivers hot and on time 😀

Waited nearly 2 hours for delivery and was then charged extra for delivery. I was told this was because we live over 3 miles away even though its actually 2.9 miles. Food was pretty average

Terrible! we had high hopes for this Chinese as we had all read the great reviews, but sadly our experience wasn’t good at all, we ordered at 6.10pm it was a big order for 11 people , so a good earner, was told it would be about an hour and 10 minutes, which we were more than happy with, when it got to 7.40pm we gave them a ring to see if it was on its way, but no! It hadn’t even been started and there were now 20 in front of us! We had 5 children within the group so we couldn’t wait the extra hour they said it would be, so we cancelled, rung another local Chinese ( Aladdins den) who had our big order ready in 15 minutes which we then collected , so sadly I won’t be trying them again, it would of been helpful if they had rung to tell us of the delay, then we could have rearranged much earlier

Food was OK but service and wait times at the shop are just appalling. We were told that we would get our order in 30 minutes, then to expect a further 10 - 15 minutes but the total was 55. Asking for updates is pointless as you will be met with a terse “We busy!” response. Oh, and they only take cash. I don’t recommend them.

The only Chinese restaurant we use, we love the food and have never had anything other than excellent no wrong orders and always within 45 minutes delivery easily the best in Southampton

Really good quality takeaway. Salt and pepper ribs are exceptional. The staff are nice and you can watch the food be prepared infront of you. Only shame is that they don't do crispy noodles!

For a take away... brilliant, the food was lovely, it was recommended to me, and I'm glad they did. If you want a Chinese takeaway this is your place. Also cash only, please be ware no cards, though cash machine near by. I rate my take aways on quality, taste, and if its over greasy. Which this ticks all the boxes.

Absolute worst Chinese takeaway ever !! Charges for food then don't deliver all the dishes ordered. The high price if the food is mind blowing and size of the dishes (5 in total) are what I would say are on the small size !! I'd recommend looking somewhere else

Clean place, food cooked in front of you while you watch. Free parking right out side the shop door, great for customers with health restrictions or wheel chair dependant. 11 October 2020 menu had a 50 pence price increase. 13.02.21. Ordered take away costing £28.70 which included vegetable pancake rolls, at home found the pancake rolls had no vegetables inside them, so remember not to order then and waste £2.20 🤔🙄 Update review 11.06.21. 👀☹️ Yet again another price raise on all items in the menu, some items up by 30 pence. If your viewing the blue menu at home add 30 pence to each item you are ordering just to cover the unknown cost 😉 🤔👍 If collecting your order, pick up the new RED menu with the new prices. If ordering by phone for delivery ask them to put a copy of their new menu in your bag.

(And I’ve had a few). Accurate and quick delivery too and if you go in and collect you will see they cook every dish freshly in front of you . Do not miss

1st time ordering takeaway delivery from peking gourmet, food was delicious, tasted freshly cooked. Recommend highly! Ensure you order an hour before hand as I imagine they get very busy! But worth waiting for .

Tasty meals, the portion sizes are good, clean premises and fa a friendly service. It is advisable to order plenty in advance as they get pretty busy especially on a Saturday night. we have been using this restaurant for years and have never been disappointed.

A super Chinese takeaway situated in Victoria Road Woolston. Whenever we fancy a Chinese takeaway we always go to this place in Woolston Southampton and have never yet been disappointed with anything that we've ordered. They have a super selection of dishes to order and there is always plenty of it, and they also provide a really good delivery service.

Been ordering for about 4 years ,had no problems, food 5 * BUT TONIGHT had no rice with my curry witch I have every time , ring up and told have to pay extra and have to wait 15 to 20 minutes, no point, really disappointed as had really good service before .

Second Best chinese in southampton, by far. Fusion noodle bar makes all other Chinese restaurant/ takeaways look really bad.

I always order now from peking Gourmet as I Like the layout of the shop ( open)so you can see them cooking your food and it puts my mind at rest that it’s clean etc and also it’s tasty tasty food too!! Only thing is if you order from home be expected to wait at least an hour for delivery 🚚 as it’s very POPULAR!!! That’s also a big yea yea .. so put your order in a bit earlier and you won’t be disappointed folks x

After reading the reviews on here I decided to go to the Peking gourmet as I'm only here for one night. Was expecting something good but it wasn't. Chicken balls over cooked and bland flavour, most of it went in the bin. Do not recommend this place.

My favourite chinese great food

Out of all the local Chinese takeaways in Woolston (and we have tried them all!), they are the freshest, quickest and most delicious of the lot. They have an open kitchen and are really friendly. Would highly recommend.

We always buy from this Chinese. Always good value and excellent food.

Eaten here for 4 years. Cheated on them with a different Chinese last week. Never again, food didn't even come close to this place. Best Kung Po Chicken I have ever eaten. Will now never go anywhere else!

Definitely recommend ordering from here; you are able to see your food being prepared in front of you. They also adapt the dishes as to your own taste, our family favourite is the Singapore fried rice, sweetcorn chicken soup and their chowmein. The guys who take your order are really helpful and kind, who really know to respect you.

This place is a joke wouldn’t order from here again was told an hour wait for food waiting a hour and half the honed store and got told it left half an hour later still not arrived. When food did arrive driver was so rude.
