Please don't go to this restaurant. The rice bowl you bought was very unpalatable. The price is also very high and not worth it.

A husband and wife team from Hong Kong have produced a truly authentic Cantonese experience. We went for the first time last night and it’s certainly the best Chinese food I’ve ever had in Southampton. No MSG, no sickly sauces, no overly oily dishes, all freshly prepared. Recommended.

The Fresh Fish is incredible amazing! I believe everyone in the world would love it! Top chef created this fantastic fish by a little bit sauce and spring onion. We love it sooooo much!

Really excellent family-run Chinese restaurant with authentic flavours and no MSG! Service was super-friendly and efficient. We enjoyed fish and vegetarian dishes, all of which were delicious. It was the perfect end to our daughter's graduation day.

Excellent all round. I went with my mum and from the initial phone call to book to going into the restaurant itself service was very pleasant. The food was piping hot and well cooked. I had satay chicken skewers which had a lovely sauce followed by sweetcorn and chicken again very nice. My mum had the chicken and sweetcorn soup which was excellent followed by prawn chow mein again very tasty. Price was very good and service to the end was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended and we will be visiting again and using as a takeaway.

Was really impressed with this place. Visited for the first time for a family members birthday. Service was quick and friendly and food was excellent. They put on their menu that they’re MSG free and you could really tell. Mostly because I didn’t wake up at 3am willing to drink from the Solent because I was so dehydrated. The atmosphere was brilliant too, calm and relaxed. I had a brilliant time and will definitely go back.

This place is a gem. Great food, big portions and reasonable prices. We had such a nice experience recently with friendly service, felt like having a dinner at home with no one rushing us through a meal.

We came here for a family meal in May 2024 on a visit to Southampton. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and had already set the high chair up for our daughter before we arrived (we had mentioned it on booking). We ordered a few different starters which were absolutely delicious and large portions - seaweed, Satay, ribs and spring rolls. We then had the sweet and sour pork, beef in black bean (non spicy version for kids) and the spicy pork belly with pepper sauce for us. It was the best I’ve ever had - so tasty and cooked beautifully - the meat was very tender in all 3 dishes. Hands down the best Chinese meal I’ve ever had. We’ll be back for more!

The best Chinese we’ve ever had! This place is a true gem, excellent food, the most lovely and hard working owners, and very reasonable prices. Just bear in mind there’s only one chef so go and make an evening of it :)

Probably the best Chinese Restaurant in Southampton for food and service. We have been a few times now and they have never disappointed. The decor is a bit basic if you were hoping for a special night out. However, the flavours and people make it fabulous.

I had a few hours to kill and picked this off the map (I’m not local). They had space but the kitchen was busy - as I had time I waited. I’m so happy I did - the food was amazingly good, and took my mind back to eating out in SE Asia. A patreon mentioned that it is the best Chinese restaurant in Southampton, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it is. A wonderful find.

Visited here as a party of two. The service was warm and welcoming and I felt the server went above and beyond. The set menu for two offers an option where the chef selects what you have and all the dishes we received were tasty and fresh, the price is also very reasonable and they accept card payments.

Enjoyed a meal here while staying away with work. Staff warm and friendly, good and quick service. Ribs for starter were delicious and the mains high quality too. There was a group enjoying a range of variety of dishes being served by the chef also in the restaurant - must admit I was a little jealous! I suspect there's a lot more to their menu and specials for me to explore, and I'll definitely be going back to do so.

A lovely little independent Chinese restaurant run by a husband and wife team. The food is cooked fresh and is carefully flavoured, not packed with salt and sugar like so many regular takeaways. We'll definitely be back here and will be recommending to all our friends!

On a weeknight so a bit quiet but loved the food and service was so friendly. Price really reasonable even with a couple bottles of wine.

This small shop was opened two years ago and offers delicious home-style side dishes. The boss makes it carefully, so manpower is limited and must be positioned in advance. We stayed in Southampton for 5 nights and have eaten here for 3 nights. I just thought it was delicious and worthy of another visit. Such a small shop run with care deserves our continued support👍👏

Then there is the food which is outstanding, and being from Hong Kong and picky in what we eat, this restaurant exceeds our expectations every time with authentic, delicious Cantonese cuisine dishes that delight us. Recommend this restaurant if you are around Southampton at any time. Can’t wait for our next visit! :-)

This has got to be the best Chinese/Cantonese restaurant in the UK. Every meal we have is compared to the meal we had in Oriental Nights. This is our second visit here, while visiting our son, Jonny. The food is spectacular and the service is so warm and friendly. The food is stunning and is great value for money. Love the service Kin and Mitty provide and honestly can't wait to come back. Such a wonderful meal!

Best beef noodles （牛河）in Southampton!

This is a great small restaurant with delicious cantonese food and very friendly but also very efficient service. It is run by Kin and Miffy who cook and serve all of the food. I recently hosted a dinner here for 16 friends (to celebrate a birthday). The food was varied and delicious, the service exceptional, and all of the guests enjoyed the experience enormously. My wife and I had already been the restaurant for lunch and dinner some weeks earlier and been struck by the efficient and friendly service, and the quality of the dishes. When I approached Miffy and Kin to arrange the birthday banquet, they were extremely helpful, happy to discuss the menu in some detail and eager to ensure that it would appeal to everyone and would take account of dietary and allergy restrictions, which it did very effectively. Everything went smoothly and all of us had a really enjoyable evening. We will look forward very much to going there again in the future.

Simply the Best We have been using one of the other Chinese places in Southampton for years, until we discovered this place. The people are wonderful, the food is excellent and the value is incredible. Working our way through the menu and have not had a dish that's not been amazing. They even remember what you like and drink. Don't worry about the service charge, the staff that run the place deserve it

I love this place. It is my go to Chinese restaurant in Southampton. The young couple who run it are doing a fantastic job and are so friendly.

I've had a really pleasant relaxing evening with very good food and wine all served by a lovely lady (Miffy) with the food having been cooked by her husband. I'm so glad that I found this 'gem of a place' (the description in a review on TripAdvisor that I totally agree with).

What a little Gem this place is. Would usually go to one of the more established places in Southampton, but after reading a comment on fb we decided to try this place and what a great idea that was. A friendly greeting when you arrive, given menus with some great choices. Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chicken Satay, Capital Ribs and rice. I can't fault a single thing, the ribs were the best since Pearl Harbour, many moons ago. The price was also, 2/3 the cost of Shanghai 1814. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed

Kindly ignore the bad comments before 2021 as it was a Japanese restaurant. It's a family run restaurant and they do serve authentic Cantonese dishes. My girlfriend and I enjoyed their Cantonese roasted duck (with bones), and we can say its the best in the South. It has crispy skin and tender meat, MOST importantly, less 'earthy' and 'gamy' taste compared to other Chinese restaurants. The boss lady (who is also the waitress) is very friendly and attentive to the customers. Would definitely recommend and please do call for availability to avoid disappointment.

Awesome Chinese restaurant run by a great young couple who are so interested in their guests and in talking about the food they are proud to serve. Came here for dinner in early December on the night we'd just moved in to our new home, as it's the closest restaurant we could find. Have already been back twice for takeaways and were disappointed it was closed over Christmas (though happy for the family to have some time off together!). Looking forward to being a regular here through 2023, absolutely recommended Oriental Nights to everyone who likes Chinese food. And also to those who think they don't like Chinese food, as the dishes here will change your mind: the food is light, fresh and non greasy. Delicious!

Great food, incredible service. This is the 2nd time we've been and I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I've been made to feel so welcome at a restaurant. They really go the extra mile for their customers. The pork belly (Friday special) was delicious! And their kitchen is guaranteed MSG-free. If you're looking for an incredible Chinese restaurant in Southampton this is definitely worth a visit.

A fantastic restaurant, we got a place with short notice and were absolutely delighted with the food and service. The waitress couldn't have been more pleasant, and the food... wow! The chef came and spent some time with us, which made it even more special - all in all a top meal in a wonderful restaurant, would highly recommend 😊

They have a good deal for lunch time. I tried two times this place. The salted fried chicken wings was very tasty and I tried two different noodles and both was good. The lady behaviour was so friendly. The only problem was the service charge that they added to the bill and does a mater how many people are going there. They write on the menu it’s discretionary but they never asking about it! I don’t have any problem to pay tips but I don’t like the way they push customer to pay!

Dined here last night with my husband. Really friendly and attentive waitress, food was also delicious and reasonably priced! We also found out they do takeaway as well as dine in. We will definitely be back either to dine in the restaurant or get a takeaway. Also added bonus no MSG so no gasping for water in the night!

Ate here this evening and was not disappointed. The ribs were delicious as was the main courses of duck in orange sauce, noodles and special fried rice. Nice atmosphere with good service and the staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend.

We’re from the United States. We stayed in Southampton four nights and had dinner here two nights. This restaurant is very good. Each meal is prepared when it is ordered with fresh ingredients by a good chef. The chef took time to come to our table to tell my sister-in-law how he prepares one of his delicious sauces. The restaurant is very clean with good service. Two thumbs up.

Visited here on a whim on Tuesday evening. Out and about with my boyfriend and his parents, we fancied a Chinese and just took a gamble on Oriental Nights. I cannot recommend it enough, it's a family restaurant and the staff seriously could not be nicer or more attentive. The food is 10/10, cooked fresh and tastes more authentic than anywhere else I have tried in Soton. The portion sizes are great, we all left with leftovers for lunch the next day. If you havent been yet then you should make a plan to go

Simply WOW. I only wish we had something that came anywhere near the standard of this restaurant where we live. The restaurant is absolutely spotless and the food is amazing and so reasonably priced. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel welcome. The food is absolutely delicious and the menu is MSG free, so won’t wake in the middle of the night parched. The portions are more than ample and served hot. The restaurant caters for all allergies so if you live in or around the Southampton area just go, you will not regret it. This was our second visit to this restaurant and although we are not resident in Southampton we will certainly take a long diversion to visit Oriental Nights when we return to the UK. Brilliant food and hospitality, thank you so much.

The food was freshly prepared to order and was so tasty and fresh. No MSG as stated on the menu, they rely on using fresh ingredients to give their dishes flavour, and they didn’t disappoint! Everything we ordered was so tasty. They cater for allergy sufferers and made me a dish which wasn’t on the menu without any trouble at all. The staff are so helpful and friendly, they deserve every success with their new venture.

The best thing about this place is the friendly staff, very welcoming. I had the teryaki chicken and rice, all very tasty and only improvement is I could have done with a little more of it.

Have food from Oriental nights regularly and I am amazed every time. Food always comes to me at the same high standard. Service is great and the staff are very attentive. Cheaper than the competition but much higher quality. Must go to!

The lovely staff couldn't do enough to make my 9yo's birthday special, and the wonderful buffet dinner did not disappoint. This is seriously our favourite Japanese restaurant in the UK, and having lived in Japan, that's saying a lot!

Wow what delight not what I was expecting at all, try good quality Japanese style food cooked fresh to order and not the normal Japanese stuff. Give it a go I will take my friends to try it again

We visited Oriental Nights as we had been before when it was Zen. The menu is smaller and the number of tables has shrunk but I think it is all for the better. The food was wonderful and good value and the staff were just the correct amount of attentive without you feeling ignored or rushed.

Honestly what an amazing experience, I never thought I'd find a restaurant as kind as this one, staff are all so lovely and cooked the most amazing food with the most amazing portion. I recommend this place to every living soul on planet earth as there's no other night like an oriental night.

This is the only place I'll get sushi delivered from. It's so tasty and you get so much food for your money. Also highly recommend the chicken bao buns, SO good.

Ordered food at 8pm and was due 8:45pm, it was then delayed every 15mins for the next 45mins without explanation. We called at 9:20 and they told us it was delayed because they were short staffed but the food was on its way and should...
