What can I say, well let's start by the initial experience. Upon entering the cafe through a forced maze of barriers that makes you feel like your in Ikea, you enter the butchers and then the newly developed cafe. The service from the waiters / waitresses was impeccable, I cant fault that however the food was so unpalatable we left most of it. My daughter ordered the pasta and all you could taste was chilli water with pasta mixed in. Honestly, it was the worst pasta dish we have tried and we actually left without her eating it. Just look at my picture, swimming in water! My burger was the worst burger I have ever tried. It must have been cooked using a blowtorch as it was burnt to a cinder and took an unpleasant minute trying to chew through one bite. I'm guessing they are oven cooked by their dryness ( just look at the picture, the middle was slightly softer than the outside ) and it was covered in some kind of vile salsa. In addition, the food was stone cold so I'm guessing it was under the heat lamp for a while. The only dish which seemed half eddibe was the fishcakes, but that's it. There is no chance we will eat here again, it's a disappointing waste of money. In addition, if you are thinking of buying anything in the delicatessen, be prepared for an enforced walk through the entire store, through another building and to the tills. On the flip side, you will get plenty of steps in!! Thanks for the horrendous afternoon.

Really excellent garden centre (both plants & restaurant). Visiting the area for a few days we found it difficult to actually find anywhere decent to have breakfast (see also my review of the nearby Premier Inn/Beefeater at the Coach & Horse, Newport Road which are simply appalling) - this garden centre, by contrast is outstanding. Friendly, helpful staff, especially the staff member greeting people as they arrive (thanks Gavin) and excellent food - what more can you ask ?

The food here has gone downhill since last we visited. The classic quiche was obviously shipped in frozen and had some strange minced meat inside, and the prawn baked potato was incredibly dry with very little sauce and no dressing on the salad. Disappointing and although regulars in the past will find elsewhere to eat next time.

Such a faff to find a table then order, especially for one person, as the table you planned to go to may have been nabbed by someone else by the time you place your irder. . Why can’t we collect table numbers when we order as in Nando’s ? rOnelette was well-filled but had a sadly unpleasant leathery texture, so disappointing. As for ten garden centre, the ludicrous trek to the tills means I no longer pop in for a birthday card or other single item. tne tilks were fine (for the customer!) where they were before!

This is a lovely garden centre with some excellent extra shops - including a new Lakeland store. BUT there are two things which let it down. First. The tills are now located nowhere near the main part of the store, you now have to go across to the other building and right through that. So inconvenient to the shopper and not easy to find if you are not a regular. The other thing that really lets it down is what they have done to the cafe. This used to be a lovely restaurant - we were regulars all through lock down when it was well spaced and airy. Now they have doubled the size and it feels echoey and noisy and far too big. Last time we went the service was dreadful - took nearly an hour and a half to get coffee and brunch. This time they have dispensed with proper service and now you have to first find a table and look at the menu - then go and queue up to order and pay - then go back to your table dand wait to be served. How someone disabled like me is supposed to stand in a queue at busy times is beyond me - luckily I was not alone - but it has definitely made me think twice about visiting on my own in future. Heaven help you if you queue up without having a table number and then have to do it all over again. Bigger is most definitely not better in this case. Shame.

The layout of the restaurant is fine but the food is overpriced and poor. Definitely not value for money. I'd read the online reviews but as it was approaching lunchtime thought we would give it a try. My daughter and I both had jacket potatoes, one tuna one prawn. Potatoes were slightly on the hard side and the prawns were so tiny and the sauce very watery. For just under a tenner with a tiny bit of salad you just felt ripped off. The food did come quite promptly but that was the only thing in its favour. A shame as I liked the new layout of the garden centre and the clothes department but will opt for a cuppa next time and go elsewhere for lunch.

Followed the instructions on the board ‘ find a seat’ etc. we found a seat by an open window, then from the other side of the cafe, a member of staff shouted that we couldn’t sit there and we had to move. It is very clear that the staff do not want to be there, and feels like they can’t wait for patrons to eat up and get out, even though it is not time for the cafe to close. The food and drink are expensive and the unwelcoming atmosphere makes it more of a disappointment. This is not the place to relax and not great for those with a hidden disability.

We decided to go for a shop for some plants, we decided to eat first. Getting a seat not an issue. A waitress took our food order which was for 2 drinks 2 mains and a dessert after about 10 minutes of waiting for the order to be taken. The drinks arrived along with the desserts(not sure why they brought them out first!) We waited 45 minutes for our food for it to be the wrong order. We had to ask someone where it was. There was an issue with the new menu not being present on the till so she had to put the order through as a burger but made a note it was for a steak and ale pie. I odered the Maple syrup ham. When these eventually arrived they brought my husband the burger and mine was just ham, egg and a few chips. Nothing maple about it! My husband just had the burger as we waited long enough for it!!! no apology and ownership of the error. There was also a young lady there who waited 40+mins for a ciabatta in the end she packed up and left and told the waited she didn't want it. Absolutely shocking service lets just say I will not be going there again in a hurry

Love what they have done for the restaurant but since they have changed to table service it has gone down hill. You have to wait to be seated and someone will come to you to take your order. We waited 18 minutes and then had to find the waitress to ask if someone could take our order which we would have missed breakfast if I had not gone to see the waitress who was very apologetic but it looked like she was on her own in a large section and she was also having to take orders and then also customers were asking her to pay bills. The system they have now is you are taken to a seat by one waitress and then told someone will come to take your order. When they eventually come a different colleague who does not know who has been sat where they take your order but then have to go to a till point to input the order they then come back to you with the bill and then ask if you want to pay then or wait to pay.If you want to pay they then have to go get a machine to take your payment.WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.Why not seat them and then you have a table number so go to a till point yourself put in your order with a waitress and pay straight away that is what was the old method.I saw 3 lots of 4 people give up and walk out because no-one was aware they were waiting. It is not the waitresses fault as I was told this is what corporate want it to be run like.It is not fair on the staff who are taking so much hassle from the customers.LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE DOING THE JOB.

A real shame to see the cafe/restaurant changes since the refurbishment. A ten minute wait to be seated in a half full restaurant. Provided with menus and told someone would be over to take our order. Managed to attract a person’s attention after about 15 minutes. Chose jacket potatoes with fillings. Food came very quickly but potatoes were very overcooked and lukewarm warm. Hardly any filling in either potato and increased in price since our last visit. Staff were rushed and inattentive. A real pity.

Disappointed. A lovely shopping destination we both enjoy visiting. Spoiled by the service in the cafeteria. Coffee arrived promptly but we waited 30 minutes for our sandwich which failed to arrive. By now wed spoken to a member of staff who failed to come back. We decided to leave but wanted to pay for our coffee. Spoke to a waitress who called over a more senior male member of staff. No eye contact, no apology he was non verbal. Not fazed at all by our experience 30 minutes is standard was his response. Not good enough. Oh dear - this used to be such a lovely cafe - now they have extended it massively without extending the kitchen facilities. The wait for everything was ridiculous, coffee took 20 minutes to arrive - brunch took half an hour - ordered more coffee to go with the meal but everyone had finished by the time it arrived. The waiting staff were lovely but the kitchen just cannot cope. No wonder the manager was so surly! It is not helped by the redesign of the whole place which means you have to go out of one building into another to pay for anything. Why they have taken away all the tills in the main building is beyond me. This was such a great place before they started messing about with it.

If this relates to the Blue Diamond Cardiff Garden Centre then be warned the coffee shop/restaurant has sadly gone downhill. I used to love their breakfast but we visited the other week and had to queue for ages before being seated at a very small table. Since the ongoing refurb they seem to have put in more tables with no room in between so you are literally sat next to your fellow customers. We waited about twenty five minutes for our coffee and breakfast when it eventually was served was terrible. Poached eggs were hard boiled, beans for the light breakfast and regular breakfast and the same teeny tiny pot, toast poor quality and burnt, no sausage (we were told this when sat down to be fair). Bacon did not compensate, it did make me laugh as there is a sign saying about their quality ingredients but it was all so poor we will not waste our money or time here again.

This is usually a fantastic place for lunch and very busy. However on this occasion we were left waiting over an hour for food. Whilst I wouldn’t usually mind I did on this occasion as I had been informed there was only a half hour wait. We watched as customer after customer complained and saw people being turned away from ordering. The staff are so polite and were obviously working non stop. The food was delivered but we were disappointed to see that the usual crispy frozen chips were replaced with awful fresh chips that were greasy, soggy and hard in places and burnt. Although they were fresh chips they were worse then the ones I make at home and believe me I’m a bad cook, hence me eating out. Normally I can overlook the waiting time if the food is worth waiting for but on this occasion I would have been better off cooking at home. Not sure if I will come back again.

Extortionate and a bit greasy. £1.95 for half a mushroom as a ‘side’ to poached eggs on toast is ridiculous. Nice staff, location, ambience but pricing needs sorting as does amounts of oil used in cooking as tastes greasy. See small breakfast photo too - it was nice but the measly portions really show on the plate as all spaced out. Want return the shop is expensive too although does have lots of healthy and plentiful choice.

I love this GC, always been my favourite, bought a load of plants, lights etc and decided to have toasted teacake and coffee, after I left the restaurant I made way to the check outs, only to be warned by an older couple to watch out for DOG POO on the floor by the food outlet and the cloths! We discussed how this wasn't right for a GC, the smell was awful and someone had spread it a little way, apparently whilst the dog owners were busy browsing their dog left a pile and they did not realise...great! I did complain and had a reply on how rare this is and that it is a dog friendly garden centre, it shouldn't be rare it shouldn't be at all. Maybe on my next visit I could bring our pony!!!

Very very poor selection (not a selection really as only two options) of vegan food available. Given really poor shrug off answer to my 'why' question...."cant get a chef" (it's a cafe not a fine dining restaurant) " short staffed " (no idea why that means they cannot make vegan dishes) and the best answer.." cant get the ingredients " omg it's all vegetables and so many dishes available in shops nowadays. I ended up with a slightly warm roll with dry tasteless filling. Staff were though very pleasant, lots of seating and seemed clean.

AVOID CAFE!!! The cafe in this garden centre is abysmal. We ordered two paninis which were underwhelming, the turkey and cranberry panini was extremely dry. The tiny flowerpot of 8 chips was insulting for the price. But the absolute cracker was my Mediterranean wrap "filled" with roasted vegetables (see photo). The wrap was so under filled, it was flat on the plate. We thought it was a joke. The young waiter agreed with us that it was extremely sparse and took it back to the kitchen. I was facing the door to the kitchen and watched the "chefs" laugh and shake their head. They refused to add extra filling as according to them, it was correctly weighed out and that's how it's supposed to look. All credit to the waiter who was very apologetic and issued a refund for us and an extra portion of chips (which we declined as we just wanted to leave). He also mentioned that we were not the first to complain about this item and that they were looking to take it off the menu completely. The cafe needs to sort itself out. We will not be returning.

I did not eat in the restaurant when I visited just before Christmas. But I was impressed with the garden centre and the choice of indoor and outdoor plants available, some of which were reduced presumably because they were part of the Christmas stock. Also has a lot of gift ideas as this is also a gift shop as well as a garden centre. Gifts that would appeal to a wide range of ages and tastes and something a bit different, many were reasonably priced and affordable. Bought an indoor plant and a potted outdoor plant, and this is what I'd had intended to buy so not disappointed. Also purchased some bath bombs, you can mix and match from a choice of fragrances, loved these and will be returning soon to buy more! Also a large range of Yankee Candles if you like these. And as I said loads of different gift ideas, many of which are available all year.

Welsh rarebit advertised as served on a bloomer with a creamy cheese sauce. In reality a toast topper served on 2 slices of thin sliced bread. Poorly presented & at nearly £5.00 each represented very poor value.

Had a meal/light lunch here which I must say wasn't brilliant. It must be the worst quiche I have ever had. I didn't realise the quiche had meat in and although I am not a vegetarian I didn't like the meat and wasn't sure what it was. It had loads in fact too many cranberries in it which distracted from the cheesy taste. The creamy coleslaw wasn't creamy and was pink. It was expensive for what it was so very disappointed.

My daughter took me to the garden centre to pick up some perennials of which there was a large selection. Good quality plants and shrubs. Also enjoyed looking around the rest of the store and had a light lunch. The jacket potato was overcooked, but it was gone 2pm when we ate.We went to look in the other retail outlets there but two of them were closed. Will return to the centre soon.

Had lunch in the restaurant, soup was barely warm ,bread was standard sliced bread and certainly not worth the money, sandwich ok apart from bread.Had cause to complain last year when they served cheese slices in a cheese salad and charged £7ish, thought as there has been a change of ownership that the food might have improved, wrong!!!

They’ve always served a super, rich, strong coffee here in this café and over the past couple of years we’ve had good lunches and lovely cakes, as well as very decent afternoon teas at £10 quid for two. After blood sucker owners Terra Firma put all the Wyevale Garden Centres up for sale, Cardiff store was among the first batch to be sold mid August to Blue Diamond of Guernsey. Cod n chips lunch just before the sale was again excellent. We’re hoping that Blue Diamond continue to provide decent food and drink here, and also that us oldies can still get special offer food and drink too, because it’s obvious the Wyevale deals attracted a lot of us. We’ve stopped off in Blue Diamond’s Applebarn Restaurant in their Evesham Garden Centre in the past year, and as well as being much bigger than Cardiff with a wider choice of food, it wasn’t bad at all, so fingers crossed going forward that this very lonely but very essential café on the eastern outskirts of Cardiff is still here and keeps up its standards.

This has been an occasional meeting place for the family over the past few years as it's accessible to all. We've had good food on previous occasions, but I was disappointed with my meal today. Fortunately I managed to save a one star rating by doing something that we shouldn't have to do, complain!! I ordered a bacon and brie panini, but there was very little brie, I started to eat the panini anyway but it was really disappointing so I complained. I had another made within a few minutes and thankfully this was far better. I shouldn't have to complain to receive the meal I ordered, and there are no excuses for poorly made meals. They have plenty of staff, good facilities and a steady stream of customers. I would suggest the management team work more closely with their staff to ensure quality is prioritised.

We went here for a Mother’s Day three course meal. Included in our package was ‘free prosecco”. We arrived at the restaurant and were told we should’ve received our free drink at the entrance of the garden centre? Not only did we not get offered a drink, once one of the staff said they would get some they did not! The food was actually really good, although I think the plates could’ve been heated slightly.Staff seem quite afraid to do anything wrong so sometimes not doing anything at all... could suggest a management issue?

Lovely staff, lovely selection of food on the menu and lovely restaurant in general. I had the tuna panini with chips and I have to say it was quite tasty however the coleslaw was a bit hard and tasted a bit sour and to be honest the panini could have been cooked for longer as it was a bit cold and thd cheese wasn't melted to an appropriate degree for it to be a panini; it was more like a sandwich. Nevertheless it filled a gap. My gran had a prawn mayonnaise sandwich. This wasn't at all what she got. She got a lot of prawns slapped in the middle of the bread without any mayonnaise at all. What a cheek! Overall pretty average experience and I am not overly impressed with the restaurant.

We enjoyed another 'Over 60s meal deal' at Wyevale Cardiff today. We can thoroughly recommend the Ham Hock and Pea Risotto - followed by vanilla ice cream. Pots of tea completed enjoyment! We have always had good service here - provided today by Nick, Alicia and Emma. As others have said, staff are very welcoming and helpful here!

Monday 11th June 2018. My wife and I visited the Cardiff Wyevale garden centre for breakfast and shopping. My wife had smoked bacon and poached egg on toast. I on the other hand had a full English breakfast and a coffee each. The coffee was over strong but hot. The breakfast was on the other hand stone cold. Mushrooms were cooked the day before and were like chewing least bands. Sausage pre cooked and appeared to be microwaved on low power. Black pudding and fresh tomatoes cold in the centres. All in all a pretty bad breakfast. I complained to the chef who I will say was apologetic and offered me a replacement breakfast. It was just the same pre cooked stuff only hotter again not an enjoyable experience. To serve one bad cold breakfast. I would sooner of waited 5 more minutes and had it all cooked fresh. First and last visit for me. No excuses for it.

We had a voucher for 25% off, so decided to have our elevenses here. We had two flat whites and two scones with butter. My Husband accidentally knocked the tray, and spilt the coffee in the saucers and the tray; the staff went out of their way, to replenish the coffees, which we were very impressed with. The coffee was lovely, nice and hot and good tasting coffee. The scones also were very big and scrumptious. The cakes on display looked very inviting. We will certainly go there again. Service excellent, very clean and welcoming. Thank you.

Please be aware that calls to Wyevale garden centres from mobile phones are very expensive! Just got stung for £1.90 for a couple of minutes enquiry. This is not a personal dig at this branch as I use them regularly and find the staff and products very good. Unfortunately I won’t be ringing again for advise and therefore may make less visits.

I prefer to eat my meals in a reasonably comfortable seating area so why on earth did I decide to have lunch here? the refit of the restaurant since the fire has to be the worst ever ! The wicker chairs are so uncomfortable and the strap weaved ones are just as bad because they dig in to the back of your legs.... if you can... grab a booth seat as that is the only comfortable one.The menu isn't great but you can find something you'd like although I do not think it is value for money. The children have a Safe Play area which is very popular and there is ample room for wheelchairs throughout the garden centre.

Lunch for 3 adults and a toddler at a good price. Food good. Nice soup though cheese scone a bit stodgy. Only real criticism was limited sandwich choice on whole meal bread. Couldn’t make anything else as staff on lunch break. Well, surprisingly enough, it was lunchtime!?!

Visited this restaurant last week order a full breakfast for my partner I was told there were no eggs!!!! But I was offered extra bacon foolishly I ordered it. The food on the plate was over cooked and I don't think we had the extra bacon as promised.very disappointed.would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.we were also waiting a lot longer than normal this might have been because a member of staff who works in the kitchen area had a visit from a young child's and the people who were with her spent some time with the child.sorry but never again.

Had a voucher for £6 off afternoon tea for two bringing the cost to £10 for us both. For this we each received: a pot of tea, 2 cheese and 2 ham 1/4 cut sandwiches, a filled Viennese finger biscuit, a piece of white chocolate rocky road, a slice of strawberry battenberg and of course a (large) scone with a pot of Tiptree strawberry jam and a pot of Rodda's clotted cream. All served on a 3 tier stand. It was plenty of food and between the 2 of us we struggled to finish it and it was very nice and good value for money especially with the voucher (can't really go wrong at £5 each for such a substantial amount of food).Only marked down for the cracked and chipped crockery; every piece had a crack or chip somewhere on it - obviously it's not surviving the regular use and industrial dishwasher very well.

We have visited on many occasions as we know it is easily accessible with my mum in her wheelchair. However, when we visited yesterday several entrances had been blocked off making it very difficult to get in & out with the wheelchair without causing chaos to other visitors! Please reopen them! Food lovely if a little pricy

We popped in for an early snack lunch midweek just before 12 noon. Hardly any sandwiches were available in the chilled cabinet... I think there was a choice of about 8 and with the exception of one all were on white bread. There was nothing to whet my appetite for a delicious something on wholemeal bread so (sadly!) I selected a portion of coffee and walnut cake sliced generously. Have to say it was dry as a bone. My husband reluctantly chose what was described as a BLT . This was exceptionally poor. The T was non existent, the L was a single piece in a thumb sized portion and the B was equally thin. He says he's never had such a poor sandwich anywhere and at £4.50 this was a serious rip off. A short while later we popped into the hardly upmarket Morrisons.... their sandwiches were beautifully prepared, imaginative and with lots of filling. At £2.40 what a difference this was.Wyevale it's about time you got your act together. You have a new, but rather cold and garish in atmosphere, cafe. You could have done so much better than this.PS.. the one plus point... the staff were super friendly and efficient. Oh I'm so thankful for small mercies!

We were so lucky to come across 4 Seasons one Sunday afternoon. The owner was just fantastic. He looked after us with exceptional warmth, cheer and speedy service. I can’t think of any other coffee place that comes close. The food was great, and the menu has something for everyone. Make use of the lovely window seats to watch the world go by. I will definitely be returning here, and highly recommend to others! Thank you so much.

I said I’d never visit a Starbucks again after my last experience, however here I am paying extortionate prices for average coffee. It’s so overrated! The prices are ridiculous. I wouldn’t mind if I enjoyed what I was purchasing but It was awful. however the staff were always extremely nice when I complained it’s just a shame their products are not.
