Unfortunately owned by a large chain who impose the accountants view on how to run a coffee shop. It's not a restaurant, it's a cafe in a garden centre. Minimal menu after 1130 breakfast over. Small selection of cakes and hot cross buns, but they are cold. They don't do tea cakes toast or hot cross buns after 1130. You can order a meal, but no small items

Really disappointing visit…There was no heating on in the restaurant despite it snowing outside so too cold to take our coats and scarves off. The waitress told us that staff were keeping warm by standing near the kitchen hot plate. Toasties were off the menu as the toaster was broken. One of our party paid £11 for a DOUBLE egg Mayo and watercress sandwich which arrived with a smear of egg filling and no watercress. She returned it and more egg was added but they had no watercress.

We went to the cafe around 2.30pm. We wanted tea and coffee. No mention was made, and we were served it in paper cups. The dish washer is not working said a disinterested employee when questioned. I would like toasted teacakes . Do not serve them in an afternoon they said. Have they not got a toaster? It seems not. Accepted the tea and coffee in paper cups. We went and sat down. The staff stood around talking. They would have been better employed washing cups and saucers in a sink in order to provide a decent service. We will not go to the cafe again!

Now a Dobbies, but not one of the better ones. Not sure when it was taken over, but it looks like it could do with a facelift. The menu is limited to jacket potatoes, toasties and cakes. The cake was dry. The staff were slow and the mocha wasn't very good. The restaurant area is under a glass roof so very hot, so we sat outside.

The restaurant has been improved and is now very good. Had breakfast last week with my 88 Yr old mother and it was very enjoyable. The garden centre has a great selection of bedding plants that are very reasonable and of top quality. Keep up the good work.

Went for a look round today and for a bite of lunch - no jacket potatoes left! The lad in the kitchen did offer a baguette in place but I didn’t want bread - he did say he could put a prawn mayo salad together for me when asked. It was ok but I’m not sure who has ever trained him to put cranberry sauce, piccalilli and coleslaw with the prawn mayo and salad. There were plenty of tomatoes.

Come back Wyvale. Visit terrible. Went today (Valentine's Day) with family. Found a table which we had to clear ourselves and clean. Fish and chips Ten pounds took ages to arrive at the table. Fish here used to be excellent, overhanging the plate, today less than half the size, not at all appetising and about eight chips. We were told they had no ham (surprise surprise) for the ham, eggs and chips and egg and chips would cost the same. Cancelled order, uncle very disappointed, waitress disinterested, don't think they have any training at all. Absolutely no people skills. I could go on but it's not worth spreading any more of my time on such an overpriced dump. Get a grip Doddies.

Give it a miss, coffee dreadful, babychinos over £1 each! And according to staff, manager 'too stingy' to put colouring in sheets out unless you've booked a party.... And £2.50 for the tiny area of soft play really is a rip off. The outside area was completely devoid of plants (it's a garden centre remember) just had a cheap printed piece of tarporlin tacked to fence with photo of flowers.... Draaaaaab! Shop itself OK. Toilets definately need doing up too.

This garden centre and cafe has just been taken over by Dobbies. The garden centre itself was difficult to move around due to being such a mess, there was stock lying about everywhere and when asked the staff didn't know where anything was. However, as Dobbies have only owned it for 3 weeks, these problems could be related to the transition. The same cannot be said for the cafe, it was truly awful in every way, the staff had an appalling attitude, were slow, inefficient and not one of them appeared to know what they were doing, there were certainly no cooks or chefs amongst them. The food was an absolute disgrace, despite only having a very limited menu, it was universally awful, l visited with 2 friends and none of us ate more than half of our meal. The service was incredibly slow and even the drinks were horrible. Needless to say the cafe will not be getting a second chance.

Just returned from Dobbies, Marple. Went for a quick lunch with my daughter & waited 40 mins. by which time my pot of tea was cold. When the food came the cheese & ham panini was cold and had to be returned to the kitchen and the ploughman's cheese sandwich was made up on very thick dry bread. Both myself and my daughter were not impressed with the service or the meal and will be very reluctant to return in a hurry.

The soft play are here is a nice size for young children and this is the only reason we go. Having said this yesterday I felt that the lack of hygiene which this cafe seems to exhibit on a regular basis had extended to the soft play area too! Food on the floor and stains splashed up the plastic wall by the slide. There is a general air of neglect in the cafe generally, tables not cleared, food all over the floor where you are sitting, staff who seem incapable of taking an order or delivering food without wandering all around the tables despite having given your table number at the till. The food is very expensive and not well cooked, served or presented. This cafe must be a gold mine and yet none of the profits seem to be ploughed back into customer service or hygiene. Whoever is responsible for the management needs to look at all the reviews on here and take the criticism on board. The place is a shambles!

My husband and I called in for lunch today and were not impressed. At all! First off was the number of dirty, laden tables which made it difficult to find somewhere nice and clean to sit. Then there was the queue to get served. Having eaten at numerous Wyevale restaurants I decided it was worth the wait. We looked at the 3 meals on the specials board and did not find anything we fancied. The board urged us to look at “the other specials board”. Having not seen a menu I was beginning to thing it was down to a choice of just three things. I asked a passing member of wait staff and she didn’t know what was available. Eventually, right at the till I noticed a menu. Fancy having to wait until you actually get to the till to start looking at a menu! No menus on the tables. I was asked what drink I wanted and I had to enquire if this Wyevale branch did the age 60+ offer as I’d not seen any notices to that effect. They do. I started to order two fish and chips but was told that the till operator would take my food order, so I ordered our drinks. Finally, when the drinks were ready and waiting in the counter I was able to give our food order. Only to be told there was a 50 minute wait for fish and chips. I mentioned to the drinks server that she could have told me about the long wait and that as we were in a rush I didn’t have 50 minutes to wait and so left. So far, I’d wasted 15 minutes in the queue to order and get nothing. The interesting thing about waiting in line for 15 minutes is that I really got time to form an impression on the poor standard of hygiene, counters were dirty and crumb laden and looked like they’d not seen a bottle of anti bac spray for quite some time. All in all, I feel this is a very badly managed restaurant with poor standards of hygiene which would be worthy of a visit from the local health inspector. The customer service is practically non existent and I personally, would skip this garden centre in favour of somewhere else to eat. My experience really did me a favour as I was going to buy a gift token for afternoon tea for our friends Ruby Anniversary.

I went to the garden centre with my three year old son so that he could go on the train ride. We stopped in the cafe for drinks, and we were both frustrated by the long wait. I chose a flat white coffee, and it was yet another example of a cafe with all the gear, and no idea. They have an expensive esspresso machine and grinder, with staff that have to clue how to operate it, or what constitutes proper coffee. At the same time, they charge prices similar to those in proper coffee shops with properly trained baristas. I left the coffee, and the cafe.

We went today for a few bits for the garden and mainly for the soft play area for our 22 month old daughter it was very quiet but as my daughter was beginning to get fed up I went in search of how to purchase a wrist band for the play center the till staff advised that we needed to speak to the restaurant so we went to the restaurant and there was 2 customers in front of us but the 2 staff serving were incredibly slow if they were going any slower they would have been going backwards these people had only ordered hot drinks and a pre prepared piece of cake, so we waited and waited and after about 20 mins of waiting my daughter had had enough and just had a meltdown so we just ended up leaving it seems ridiculous that the till staff who had no customers and were just chatting could not sell us a wristband. I have been coming here for 10 years now as have all my three boys over the years. We have enjoyed every occasion and whilst the food is not cheap what do you expect its a garden centre. Some people come and spend the day there and if it was cheap you would more than likely have them staying the night too. It is always busy so obviously there are other people who like the garden centre and cafe. If your young or old this place really welcomes you and the staff are knowledgeable especially in the garden centre. The coffees are great and cakes and food is also of a decent quality. Some of there food like other establishments is bought in and the portions can be small but other than that we have never had a complaint. I will highlight some issues they have but when I say this I have been to Barton Grange and they are all the same. The queue for food is too long at times and if you decide you want a cake after your breakfast/lunch it takes forever to queue up again so generally i don't bother unless I have decided before hand to indulge. Their afternoon tea is fine and if you do have a kid the play area is great whilst its not one of your larger ones( which I can't stand by the way) it suits a purpose and is safe. What play area is manned by staff anyway unless you have a party? None - They could have another sever on the till too speed things up or have a kiosk that serves cakes and coffees as the queue is too long at times. I have fed this back to Neil on a few occasions over the years. The staff are lovely and try their best and its clean and please don't fall for the negative reviewers its a garden centre and its decent and on our door stop. If you want to go to a pub then go but think about your surroundings and remember it does what it says on the tin. Food, genuine staff and join the gardening club before you go as you get great deals all year round and even get money back. Thats what you get for being loyal. They have great sales all year round and I personally feel the play area should be free for members if you spend over £10 pounds say you get a free band. Did I mention the great train for kids? Its £1.00 per child/ adult and infants go free. Open Sat/Sun and the holidays. Give it a try and don't be put off by negative reviewers.

We visited today for lunch with our 18month old son on account of the website advertising a soft play area for children 1-8 years. The layout was good and there were plenty of tables close to the play area so you could order food and also supervise children.

Nothing special just your average garden centre cafe. I've been to better and been to worse. Tables were not cleared away and end up having to do it yourself. Photo is off what our table was like when we arrived.

Made quite a long trip to the Centre by public transport and walking on a hot day, so was gasping for a drink. Went to Dragon Miniature Railway first (yes, I know that it isn't strictly part of the garden centre) on the basis that cafe is shown on website to be open until 1630 on Sundays. Entered at 1600 and was just sucking teeth at the fairly high prices for small pieces of cake when staff brusquely said "we are closed". That was it. Will not be coming back. There are plenty of other garden centres in the area.

As with most garden centres these days this one has a large cafe area but also sells full range of garden equipment in addition to plants etc

Garden Center and have visited on occasions in the past. At that time I visited with my Mother. Her comments were at that time that the Food was of reasonable standard but certainly not outstanding. The service was very slow and on two occasions we had been "Forgotten About" thus needing the staff to be reminded that we had not actually been served. The price of Food and Drink being very much excessive for the experience and in comparison to at least three other local outlets, just not worth the expense or quality to go back to Wyevale. ( These being the Hare and Hounds . / The Railway at Rose Hill./ The Rectory at Stockport. )

Visited the garden centre today, had been told it was dog friendly and has a fabulous pet shop inside and some good food. Took our dog with us and quite right you can walk your dog through, visit the absolutely brilliant pet shop, very knowledgeable and friendly staff, stayed for some food, which was very nice, lovely coffee all ok, the biggest disappointment was you have to eat outside with your dog, really cold and not very comfy chairs. Don't understand how they can be so welcoming in the centre but not have an area indoors where you can sit with your pooch. Hence the three stars. Would have been five if I hadn't gone home with a cold wet bum.

Went there today after few months. The cafe has enlarged its space and found the new layout pretty awful, restrictive. It should have stayed as before. The owners should have concentrated more in staff training including cooking skills, customer service and speeding up everything as you already pay too much for what is offered but you have to wait a very long time even for a bowl of chips. In addition i found the small play area ticket changes really unfair. As customer you already pay a lot for food and drinks, and having to pay for a very small play area for your kids whilst you try to relax for few minutes, I find it laughable, ridiculous, and shows that they are not customer service focus. Won't go there again.

Come here for a cup of tea with family as convenient location. Find the service very slow irrespective of how busy it is. Cup of tea price average. Environment quite comfortable. As a garden centre a tad expensive.

Such a shame I have to write this as we have been regular visitors of the garden centre for years.

My wife and I have been going to Wyevale for many years. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We always go into the restaurant, sometimes for tea and toast but our favourite is lunch. We usually have fish and chips which is absolutely delicious, the batter on the fish is so light and crisp it tastes really healthy! The staff are so obliging and the service is excellent.

Just got back home after a lovely afternoon at Wyevale Garden Centre - we had a voucher for afternoon tea as a Christmas present and to be honest I had looked at previous reviews and was concerned about the quality and service we were to receive - we need not have worried - the food was delicious (especially the scones) and the service was first class - lots of refills for our tea - thank you for a very special afternoon.

My daughter and I called today for lunch. The food was appalling, at least 3 people near us were complaining. We waited 40 minutes for a cold sandwich, had we been told there was this long to wait when we ordered we wouldn't have done so. When our food did arrive it was disgusting. Will not be visiting again. The only positive was the poor waitress who was trying her very best.

Waited 45 min for the food. My fish and chips was OK, my wife ordered a hot sandwich with bacon, chicken and brie= arrived cold. Waitress offered to do new one, came back warm not hot. Bacon pre-fried God knows when, smelt almost fishy. Waitress brought pot of tea for 2, without cups..! My fish was cod, nice batter and OK chips. You can get more of a his and miss than this place!!

Went with a friend for a browse and then lunch. Ordered two chicken salad wraps. Very expensive at £4.60 each for processed chicken! The wrap was cut in half and looked very bare on a big plate with no salad accompaniment. My peligrino orange was £2.50!!! Would not have bought it if I'd known the price. Will not be returning.

We decided to go here for breakfast, for starters a breakfast is between 8 and 10 PP. which you would expect a reasonable amount of food for that price.

This is to thank the staff at Stanley Green Costa Coffee for going above and beyond following our little mishap. As my Wife was approaching our table with a tray containing 3 large coffees she appeared to lose control of the tray with the result that they all spilt on both of us sat at the table and the table and floor area. The staff reacted immediately confirming we were all ok and provided cloths for us to wipe ourselves down. They could not have been more helpful and the icing on the cake was that they then delivered a further three replacement coffees on the house.

30min wait for a Jacket Potato, which was hard but steaming hot, obviously part microwaved and overcooked. Not great.
