We went her for my adult step-son's birthday lunch and they really went out of their way to make it a fun celebration. Food and service were excellent. Highly recommended.

Terrific pub. Cosy and charming, especially when the wood fire is burning. The team is warm and welcoming and in a different league to general pub staff. The food is consistently good and the portions are generous. I would never have thought to put a fried egg and anchovies on chicken schnitzel but am very pleased I tried it. It was really good and offered a nice twist with the capers, anchovies and fried egg playing off each other nicely and making each bit a little different from the last. I had not visited The Wych Elm in a while and then had lunch and dinner there just over a week apart. Dinner was especially busy, which was great to see. The team here works hard and goes out of its way to please so it was good to see it humming with activity.

Lovely pub and Sunday lunch is absolutely perfect. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend it.

One of the best pubs I've eaten in! I came a few days ago with my sister, and we had a great time. The two servers were attentive, really attentive and professional. The food was delicious, and excellent value for money. I also loved the cider I drank, a real favorite! Nothing to complain about, I highly recommend and I will come back without hesitation.

I had a great lunch at The Wych Elm with a group of 6 friends and honestly, it was the perfect pub experience. The food was super tasty, with hearty, flavorful dishes, and everyone was really happy with their choices, from the pub classics to some of the specials on the menu. In particular, the scallops were sensational. The vibe was exactly what you’d want from a local pub—busy, lively, but still cozy enough for a good catch-up with friends. Service was spot on too. The staff were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, but never hovered. It felt really laid-back and welcoming, which made the whole lunch even better. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to for future get-togethers. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a great pub with tasty food and a relaxed atmosphere.

Popped in for Sunday lunch with a couple of friends. Atmosphere is very welcoming from smiley bar tenders to locals of all ages quietly enjoying a relaxed lunch. We ordered from the Sunday roasts menu; chicken was tender and not dry, belly pork was a good sized chunk with crackling to die for! Both accompanied by carrots, spiced red cabbage, cauliflower and brocolli all cooked perfectly. Roast potatoes were very good and yorkies perfectly risen with a good crunch to the outside. Homemade gravy is yummy. This is the roast you hope for - everything you want cooked perfectly without being messed about. Service is efficient and not pushy.

First visit for lunch. Warm and friendly welcome. Excellent menu with options from a range of small plates to full sized offerings so catering for different sized appetites which wish more places would do. Lunch time specials also available. We were only in Kingston for the day if would've been staying longer would've definitely come back in the evening. There was a good vibe at lunchtime so would imagine more so in the evening Thank you for our lovely lunch experience

This was our Ladies Who Lunch 4th Christmas Lunch at the Wych eating drinking and being merry. As always the food was wonderful lunch and the welcome very warm, and we didn’t have to take out a second mortgage to pay the bill. Thank you to everyone, but a special thank you to Pete!

I think this was our seventh visit to the Wych Elm in the last 18 months. Always amazing. Well kept beer, and excellent food. Great staff and service, too.

We have our work Christmas meal here every year and the food and service are exceptional without fail. A lovely cosy atmosphere too. A proper community pub - Michael and Charlotte generously support our charity with the occasional pub quiz. Thank you all at the Wych Elm!

Brilliant service and very good food indeed

Brilliant pub with an excellent food and wine menu. We came for a late Saturday lunch and the fire was going, not too many other tables. Generous serving sizes so no room for dessert this time.

This historic Kingston pub has great food and wonderful beer. It's always a lovely place for groups of any size to meet and the landlord put on multiple events each month that benefit the community.

I went to this pub tonight. OK, I didn't book before hand and probably should have. First, I went to a table and then was told no meals were served tonight. I was also told pub fully booked and I had to leave when customers came. There is a contradiction there??!! I don't know what is going on. In all circumstances, I was made to feel very unwelcome. Needless to say, I will never go there again.

Always great, beer is excellent

I have no idea why the reviews are so positive. The roast was the worst I’ve had in London … chicken was dry with a funky taste and the skin was soggy. Vegetables were tasteless and given no care - no seasoning even. Roast potatoes were very pale and didn’t taste like they were roasted. Low quality ingredients all round. School dinners were better. Post review: the establishment accuses me of being fake 😂! Oh the arrogance to think someone doesn’t like their food !! You can see I have reviewed many other restaurants and keen to warn people to save wasting their hard earned money on poor food. I had my doubts going to a fullers chain pub for a roast but it was even worse than I could have imagined 🤮

Excellent food and drink. Superb staff, exceedingly friendly and professional. My absolute favourite place to dine or just to pop in for a couple of beers. I wholeheartedly recommend the Wych Elm, it’s by far my most favourite watering hole.

Great pub. Good food, good size too. Polite and attentive staff. They even have beer!! Had a Sunday roast here and it was really good. The atmosphere was building but I can’t really say as we got there bang on opening in a Sunday. Don’t have a booking but they found us a space for a couple of hours. Thanks

Sunday dinner. We celebrated my mother in laws birthday here. We had a selection of dishes, including their lovely Sunday roast. The 3 starters for £21 were lovely and really enjoyed by the adults and children. A little on the expensive side however we will be returning!

We booked the Wych Elm for a birthday and we were pleasantly surprised to turn up to decorations in a little corner for us with a sign and balloons! Very thoughtful staff. The food was great and we had plenty to choose from. Staff were kind and attentive throughout the meal. Can’t wait to come back.

Yep, a classy pub in Kingston. Such a nice meal out and a really nice, cosy atmosphere. Also lovely to hear a local play the piano in the corner (very well at that), really added to the evening!

Popped in for the Wych Elm Friday Curry with friends, we all had the Sri Lankan Prawn curry which was absolutely delicious with a lovely hint of spice that was just right. It came with basmati rice and an array of extremely tasty samosas, naan breads, onion bhajis as well as mango chutney and raita. The service was excellent, both extremely friendly and capable from start to finish. A great local pub brimming with atmosphere and charm. Definitely worth a detour if you are in the Kingston area.

A wonderful Sunday lunch spot, and super dog friendly! We were sat outside and our pooches were given their own water bowl and lots of cuddles by the staff throughout. Thanks!

We went to show a Texan, here for a week,. British cuisine. The reviews of this place are great. We have previously visited. It is not in an oasis of beauty, but is trying very hard. We had been here before for a drink. Overall we paid £50 a head plus including wine/cocktails which were very good. The Scallops with crushed peas; the French onion soup really good, although crusty bread took time to come and should have been part of the dishes. Please take a lesson from the French. My son's steak was brilliantly cooked and presented as was the fish and chips, but my burger was the worst I have had in many, many years. One could have played ice hocky with it. Service is not brilliant.

My second visit here. As before, fabulous roast, charming service, lovely environment. Think this is now locked-in as my favourite roast vendor in the area... And I've tried a LOT of them!

We had an amazing meal here on Friday evening, a lovely old pub serving incredible food. It's not cheap but well worth it and hey it's Richmond in London so no where is.

Booked for a Sunday roast..wasnt disappointed..had the Pork belly..Nice size portion. 4 different vegetables..fab Yorkshire.. Attentive staff.. A little expensive but when the food-service is good..you don't mind .

This is our favourite pub ---- its only shortcoming is that its location is not within walking distance of our home! We eat here at least once a month and never feel let down. The food is always good and the daily specials offer variety. Portions are generous, service is slick and the prices (we think) are very reasonable. Our two friends last night, who have been sailing the world for the last eight years and have eaten far and wide, thought that The Wych Elm was every bit as good as we promised them and were particularly complementary about the Duck Special. 10/10

Really enjoyed my lunch here. Had a delicious burger. There was plenty of choice on the menu, with a good range of dishes. Incredibly reasonable weekday lunchtime special price too. Glad I was hungry and had held back from ordering a side order to go with burger as it was a very generous size. I have to have gluten-free food and often GF burger buns are pretty underwhelming. Not today. It tasted really nice. The lush, well-kept garden at the back was a treat to sit in while eating too. Service was friendly and professional. Whole place was clean and cosy.

Lovely restaurant - been 3 weeks i n a row and the food is amazing - I ordered a steak tonight with specific instructions and it was the best meal I've had in a long while...cooked to perfection....

A truly GREAT pub: Great parking; great welcome; great atmosphere; great garden; great staff; great food at extraordinarily fair prices; and our dog was greatly appreciative of his personally-provided water-bowl. Deserves 6/5 stars.

I’ve been here for Sunday lunch before but this review is just about the pub / beer garden and the brilliant service. Came here on a warm Saturday evening with a couple of friends and two dogs. We went straight to the large beer garden at the rear. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming, immediately bringing out a water bowl for the dogs and water for the table. Went to the bar for the first round and the barman offered to bring the drinks out for us. Later drinks were served to us when the barman offered staff came and asked if we wanted more and then brought the card machine to us. A really nice, welcoming, friendly pub to spend some time at.

Such a lovely welcoming team, everyone looked after us throughout the day. The food was great, the roast beef was really good! Look forward to going back again.

I have only provided for stars for atmosphere, as on this visit the pub seemed a little quieter than usual, however Mike and the team were ready to welcome us as I had reserved a table in my brother's name so he could treat Mum to a nice meal out for her birthday. Staff were understanding and accommodating to our needs, not only due to my eating/drinking regime, but also being in the company of my new niece. Yes, there are baby changing facilities available here. Dog friendly. Great selection of food, starters, mains, small plates, desserts, beers/lagers and wines as well as low/non alcoholic and gluten free beverages. Outdoor seating available at the front of the house as well as in the well kept pub garden and patio to the side and rear. This is definitely a hidden gem for Kingston and South West London and definitely worth a visit, no matter the weather. If Mike and the Team can accommodate for your needs, they will.

Staff are friendly, atmosphere is amazing, food is excellent. The only problem was for the curry with rice, there were too much water in the rice, we as Asian were quite picky about it, but everything else did made up for it. Will definitely revisit with friends.

Fathers day, ultra busy but the food did not suffer best roast in Kingston as far as i am concerned. AND staff so friendly and attentive ... can not fault ... thank you ... will see you soon

Two girls wanting a nice tasty lunch decided to try this pub. The staff smiled said hello as we walked in . It felt very welcoming. The specials included a butterfly of fish with capers, broccoli and kale with small rösti potatoes. The fish was perfectly cooked as were all the veg. My friend had fish and chips. Both were delicious. We will be back !

Went to the Wych Elm for a quiet Saturday lunch after a dog walk. The service was fantastic and the pub was peaceful and warm. The food was typical pub grub; nothing to get upset about, but also nothing to blow your socks off. Attentiveness and politeness of the bar staff should be noted - they provided excellent service throughout our stay and made sure that all three of us (the dog included!) were comfy and well-looked after. As a Fuller's pub, they've got a good range of dependable beer - recommend if you're looking for a pint and an easy meal.

Great atmosphere, great food & friendly staff. Our go-to pub now the Canbury Arms has deteriorated. (Later addition - we lost a child's bag and wallet on a subsequent visit and Michael went specially to find it and delivered it home to us - you can't get better local service than that!)

Went here for a nice family meal to celebrate a birthday. Service was great, food was delicious, drinks were good. My only quibble was that there were specifics not explained very well on the menu, but this may have been a one off and I shall definitely be returning!

We had a lovely meal at the Wych Elm celebrating Mother’s Day. It was delicious food and great service as always. There was even a glass of Prosecco on arrival for my wife. Definitely our favourite place in Kingston.

This is a hidden gem of a pub. It’s a little off the beaten track but the food was superb. The service was really friendly and really fast. You could tell the food was home cooked. I had the soup and the juicy burger (pulled pork) both were amazing. Didn’t have room for pudding so can’t tell you about those.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch celebrating our son's birthday. They even put up a birthday banner and balloons for us which was really thoughtful. The friendly service and food was fantastic. We would definitely recommend it.

We have recently moved to the area and wanted to try local hot spots. In searching for a great Sunday roast we discovered the wonderful pub. Great food, attentive staff and a nice atmosphere made our day. Also great beer choice!!!

We like this pub for its food, relaxed friendly atmosphere and good service. I had asked for a comfy chair for my elderly Mother, and we got a choice of comfy chairs.

The best Sunday lunch ever! Also great that they do a kids size portion too that’s good for smaller appetites. Really lovely atmosphere and staff.

I’d heard great things about Sunday lunch at the Wych’s Elm and having just eaten there I can see why. I had the Roast Pork, very generous portion of meat as well as veggies and it was all delicious. The staff had no problem with my partner having a kids portion and even that was generous in size. Apple Crumble and custard was the perfect finish.

This is a great place for a spontaneous lunch or evening meal. We have been here several times and all has been excellent with a friendly atmosphere.

Love the Wych so much - first time in my life I've ever felt we have a proper "local" where I want to keep going back again and again. Tasty food, wide range of drinks and super friendly atmosphere. Plus lots of extras like pub quizzes, sport-watching and even Christmas carols with a brass band. Highly recommended

We chose this pub as a meeting point after reading previous good reviews and we were not disappointed. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a range of different Sunday roasts. The fact that there was nothing left on any of our plates says it all! We will be back again.

Service was average at best, staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there. The staff also made us feel very unwelcome, our dog did one bark and the bar staff came over to tell us we would have to leave if he barks again.

The Wych is a great local pub, with good food and friendly staff. Their events are always a lot of fun - a few of us went last night for Burns Night (as usual, it was excellent).
