Wych Elm in Kingston upon Thames

Went here for a nice family meal to celebrate a birthday. Service was great, food was delicious, drinks were good. My only quibble was that there were specifics not explained very well on the menu, but this may have been a one off and I shall definitely be returning!

We had a lovely meal at the Wych Elm celebrating Mother’s Day. It was delicious food and great service as always. There was even a glass of Prosecco on arrival for my wife. Definitely our favourite place in Kingston.

This is a hidden gem of a pub. It’s a little off the beaten track but the food was superb. The service was really friendly and really fast. You could tell the food was home cooked. I had the soup and the juicy burger (pulled pork) both were amazing. Didn’t have room for pudding so can’t tell you about those.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch celebrating our son's birthday. They even put up a birthday banner and balloons for us which was really thoughtful. The friendly service and food was fantastic. We would definitely recommend it.

Thought it was a nice pub at start but then saw the workers drinking on shift not taking the service and serious too many young stuff with no experience food tasted like it was frozen microwaved very poor experience

We have recently moved to the area and wanted to try local hot spots. In searching for a great Sunday roast we discovered the wonderful pub. Great food, attentive staff and a nice atmosphere made our day. Also great beer choice!!!

We like this pub for its food, relaxed friendly atmosphere and good service. I had asked for a comfy chair for my elderly Mother, and we got a choice of comfy chairs.

The best Sunday lunch ever! Also great that they do a kids size portion too that’s good for smaller appetites. Really lovely atmosphere and staff.

I’d heard great things about Sunday lunch at the Wych’s Elm and having just eaten there I can see why. I had the Roast Pork, very generous portion of meat as well as veggies and it was all delicious. The staff had no problem with my partner having a kids portion and even that was generous in size. Apple Crumble and custard was the perfect finish.

This is a great place for a spontaneous lunch or evening meal. We have been here several times and all has been excellent with a friendly atmosphere.

Love the Wych so much - first time in my life I've ever felt we have a proper "local" where I want to keep going back again and again. Tasty food, wide range of drinks and super friendly atmosphere. Plus lots of extras like pub quizzes, sport-watching and even Christmas carols with a brass band. Highly recommended

We chose this pub as a meeting point after reading previous good reviews and we were not disappointed. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a range of different Sunday roasts. The fact that there was nothing left on any of our plates says it all! We will be back again.

Service was average at best, staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there. The staff also made us feel very unwelcome, our dog did one bark and the bar staff came over to tell us we would have to leave if he barks again.

A wonderful traditional pub which has been modernised but not too far, so it still has a pub atmosphere and attracts a mix of locals and visitors. Food is excellent - cooked fresh and to a bistro pub level. Staff are always really helpful and friendly. Would recommend for lunch/dinner with family, friends or for casual business lunch.

We had dinner here on a Friday evening as a table of four. Having not eaten at the pub for a while, we were bitterly disappointed. The food was mediocre at best and vastly overpriced. Burgers at £18.50 did not even include any chips!!! Whoever heard of that in a pub?! I had the sole which was overcooked, dry and tasteless and sautéed potatoes swimming in a pool of oil - yuck. We had a few nibbles as starters and two desserts only and total bill was over £160.00. This is such a shame for a local pub as we will not be returning in a hurry.

We had a really excellent Sunday lunch on 17/12. We were with friends who were not familiar with the pub as not local and they commented how excellent the service, food and general vibe was. 2023 There last night, still great and surprisingly not too busy. 2021 Has been a favourite for many years, the beer is always on great form (currently Twickenham Naked Ladies, Darkstar Hophead and of course always London Pride, all perfect!) and the £10 chef's special dinners has to be a winner, the Duck Confit the other week was fantastic. Great deal on Wednesdays steak night to beautifully cooked, steaks and a bottle of red wine for 50 quid. Excellent cosy pub with real fire.

Mike and Charlotte hosted a community gathering for ~ 20 people at my request in a sectioned off area of the pub. They were fantastic hosts and really looked after us with plenty of delicious bar food and drinks. Everybody had a really good time...

Wonderful in all respects. Superb food, immaculate service and attention to detail. Beautiful pub with lovely atmosphere. They also keep their beer perfectly. Don’t bother with anywhere else locally - we’ve tried them all, and The Wych comes out consistently on top on all fronts!

What a great pub. A warm welcome from the staff for our mid-week dinner for three, with a cosy corner decorated especially for our birthday celebration. Our two well-behaved dogs were given water and treats. And with staff with over 30 years' experience at the pub, and a book on Kingston in the 50s on display, we were also able to reminisce. The food was very good too. Will definitely be back!

Good value Sunday lunch, albeit a late one at 6.30. Very decent fare, prompt and tasty, well served with a community feel to it.

As always the food and service are of the highest quality. Although I arrived their later in the afternoon after a very busy session the maitre d made sure that there was a Roast chicken available. I feel blessed having such an excellent gastro pub on my doorstep.

This is the forst time we have eaten there; we have been before for drinks and seen the other customers being served what looked and smelled to be delicious food. We booked for lunchtime, to give it a try out. There is a good standard...

Always liked this bar. Great service and good food in a nice setting. The one negative with tonights meal was the wine. I don't mind spending £40 on a bottle a bottle of wine with a meal but just not one that retails at £7. Will stick to a pint in future. Edit: I note the management's comprehensive response. My live search now shows the cost of the bottle of wine has risen to £8.05 inclusive of vat. At that price, reviews state it is nice. It is not nice at £40 so my point remains. Markups are fine, but "too crazy" and/or "simple greed", may be two reasons why places are struggling? I always tip well and am very happy to support local bars and restaurants and pay the appropriate price to see them survive but whilst the policy of adding roughly £2 onto a pint is fine, £30 onto a bottle of wine, not so much. If Fullers want to encourage people to drink less at home, then this may be a good place to start? In the meantime, I shall now seek out a less argumentative bar for my custom. That is a real pity, but if I want a lecture or debate on commerce, I will go back to uni. Definitely no forty quid, £10 wine there.

Welcoming team, warm friendly, generally attentive (we were a larger party set away from the main guests). Good selection of ales and wines, and whilst the menu was small it lacked nothing in imagination and variety. Excellent portion sizes, characterful interior and patrons.
