Canbury Secret in Kingston upon Thames

From an açai bowl to a bacon buttie (please make sure you take advantage of everything this fantastic ‘Secret’ has to offer) your every need is met. We indulged in the passion fruit and white chocolate cake combined with the carrot cake served in a beautiful cake box and both completely moorish. The flat white was also delicious and the price was very reasonable.

They don't provide different size coffees. I wanted a small Americano. They refused to sell me one. I hope for their sake they have changed this, but they have lost my custom through their arrogance... Come back Phillipo all is forgiven!

What a great find in the park with a view of the river, and most importantly some shady seats. Very reasonably priced food and drinks and the gelato was absolutely superb! I was tempted with the very affordable cakes and cookies but it was hot so we all have ice creams and went back for drinks. Staff very on the ball, well organised and we all felt very reasonable prices - yes, just reiterating the point! Next time we are in the area we would try a bit of lunch there.

Forget all other coffee places and make a walk to Canbury Secret a part of your morning routine! The crew is so welcoming and pistachio doughnuts and sandwiches are lush!

One dimensional. No excuse for not entertaining customers who wish to pay with cash.

Recently under new management, supplying the same brand of coffee and quite a lot of the delicious cakes and pastries...BUT...I always used to get a small black Americano there, which came hot and strong. Since being under new management, the price went up to £3.20...nearly 20% more than vendors nearby. When I then said, "oh sorry, I wanted a small black Americano I was told they only did one size (which was 12oz). I begrudgingly paid the inflated price (since my normal place was closed on that day anyway), and sat down to drink my coffee. I am convinced there was only one shot in, as it was weak. Carraro Blend is normally very rich and coffee-glavpured (rather than just being able to taste "the roast", but this was watery and could have been any brand! On the plus saude, it has saved me £3.20 a week...but negatively means I won't be getting an accompanying tasty cake or pastry.

Lovely little cafe down by the river reopened under new management. Food choice is perfect and good value, especially the kid’s selection. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious coffee too! Will definitely be back again, again and again.

I decided to pop by and check out the new owners. They didn't disappoint; it's great to see this local business being taken over by Kingston residents who truly care. As someone with allergies, I really appreciated the clear allergen labels and wide choice of alternative milks – they had them all (oat/soya/coconut/almonds). Although they seemed to be finding their feet, I can tell this business will continue to thrive with time. I've been twice since the opening; the croissant was huge – a personal favorite, along with their fresh fruit smoothies and vegan banana cake. Also had their dairy free frappe! Big thanks to Becky and Holly who served me!

Went down for lunch on Friday and had “The Piggy”. Lovely toasted sandwich with great coffee. Staff were very friendly, Will definitely be going back!

So pleased to see this cafe reopen. The coffee is delicious and the menu is new with a lovely selection of delicious toasties, try the Canbury - goats cheese spinach and onion chutney, we’ve been down every day!!

What a lovely spot by the river in Kingston, recently reopened and serving great coffee and food, the piggy sandwich I had today was delicious.

I am so happy to see this cafe open again, so I can get a coffee which is a great coffee btw at 8am whilst walking the dog. Also had the Piggy toastie to set me up for the day!

Used to grab a coffee during my walk by the river, with beautiful views. Now the cafe has new owners! Cappuccino was terrible. Not going back.

Stopped for brunch with my daughter and grandson, I'd seen the café a few times before and on such a lovely sunny day I thought it would be the perfect spot for lunch. There is plenty of seating and high chairs for the little ones. The café is also dog friendly. We had the margarita pizza to share and an iced coffee each. The pizza was amazing and the service was friendly and fast. Highly recommend a visit

I've been visiting this cafe for a number of years. However I find £9.40 for a soya latte and vegan sausage roll somewhat excessive!!

A new favourite! What a lovely setting. I got an oat flat white and I'm generally very fussy about coffee. When I mentioned that it wasn't quite right they made me a fresh one no problem. Much appreciated, thank you. And it was good coffee!

This has to be pretty minimal, as i only had a tea and a sausage roll. The tea was good, the sausage roll was excellent. They heat them up for eating. I think there were veggy and possibly a vegan version available too.

A lovely cafe kiosk on an excellent riverside location - An oasis in the Borough of Kingston. Excellent coffee and fresh pastries - . Lots of grab and go options for your picnics and parties in the park. Interesting ice cream options too! Great for those sunny days by the river,.. just the thing for your kiddos.. unbeatable fudge swirl ice cream! You can tell the proprietor has made an effort on his business, Setting high standards. Believing in what he does and what the customers want. We had a great time with friends on this stretch of the riverbank. Enjoyed the waterside activity and watching the colourful boats during the Bank Holiday weekend.

Lovely little cafe with delicious sweet and savoury options

Worst customer service ever! Queued in the section signposted coffee and gelato. Rude staff member told me I couldn’t get coffee there. Joined a massive queue whilst member of staff who’d refused to serve me stood around doing nothing 😢

£2.20 for a can of coke. Robbery. Edit: Who cares the coke. These guys have the best ever ice cream in the town. Hats off.

Bit overpriced but the only place to grab something without going into the pub by the river or walking into the town centre. Drinks and cakes are ok. The hot food is below average. The ice cream/ sorbets are worth a try. On the pricey side but they have some different flavours. Smoothies are ok too. Basically, nothing is amazing or worth a real recommendation but it’s very conveniently located. Staff are not exactly friendly but not rude either. They’re just busy and it must be hard working in a small hut.

A friend and I stopped here for a quick drink to take to a bench to sit. We paid 8£ for a can of coke, a doughnut and a tea. They also sell ice cream. Milkshakes were more than 4£ for 16 ounces. It is convenient to the gardens here, but you pay for convenience.

Had the most tasty veggie sausage rolls and croissants! Thanks for a delicious dinner, I'll definitely be back.

This place is one of my favorite ice cream shops in Kingston upon Thames, with a spectacular Riverside view, overlooked by a luscious green canopy of foliage.

Our favourite outdoor cafe. Great coffee. Nice food. Very good ice cream. The staff are always excellent. The seating area has recently been improved with an awning. Hopefully the local yobs will stop trashing it at night.

What's not to like about a Nutella filled doughnut! Nice riverside outdoor cafe to stop for a coffee when cycling the Thames path. Seating area is covered in case the English weather tries to ruin your pit stop!

I purchased a doughnut with green icing for my daughter . Over priced stale , inedible! End of the day offerings with the staggering price tag , would have got better in Greggs!!

Tea stop on a ramble between Norbiton and Surbiton. Only after tea myself but could easily have been tempted by cakes of various types. Main trouble was the service was very SLOW. Clearly understaffed to deal with busy times - BUT social distancing would have challenging in the available space with even 1 more member of staff.

We stopped by for a coffee and cookie during a nice dog walk along the riverbank. The kiosk was fairly busy and we had to wait about 10 mins for pit coffee after ordering, but it was worth the wait. Really nice coffee and a great cookie. They have a fair amount of outdoor seating with shade, and there are loads of public benches along the river bank.

Finally made it to Canbury Secret after months of following them on Instagram... It looks all lovely and christmassy in the dusk with their twinkle lights glowing 😍 Great covid precautions in place and socially distancing queuing. The queue moved quickly and despite being nearly the end of the day there was lots too choose from, I went for the peanut butter blondie and a cup of tea. The only disappointment was the wait for the hot drink, it seemed to take them ages to make them and so there were a lot of us just waiting around. The peanut butter blondie was lovely. It had lovely big, chunky chocolate chips inside whilst being gooey... perfect! Next time I think I’ll try a slice of their panettone (my favourite) which is also on sale to buy whole for Christmas. 🙂

It’s a nice place to rest up and grab a quick snack after a walk. Right by the river. Food isn’t that great. But hey, they provide food if you feel snackish! Their lemon drizzle cake was pretty nice TBH! Their arancini was meh!

This is a great cafe in an excellent location in Canbury gardens, drink, food and ice cream are all great. I visit most weekends if the weather is good.

Canbury secret has reopened at last after being closed for the winter. This is one of my favourite local cafes. We ordered hot chocolate which was excellent and very chocolaty and the gelato which was very good.

Great to see it back open again. A great addition to the lovely park. Will enjoy using it through the summer. Highly recommended.

We have visited this cafe most weekends since last weekend, it is in an excellent t location in Canbury Gardens and the coffee and food is very good. It closes for the winter next weekend 15th/16th December and we will miss it until it reopens in the spring.

Canbury Secret is a great place to stop for a coffee and a snack in Canbury Gardens. The food that I have tried including the moroccan lamb pie, bacon roll, croissants and panini's have all been good. Will miss the place when it closes for the winter.

We were walking the Thames Path on a cold Sunday morning when we spotted this Café tucked away. We had only just said that we would like a bacon roll and as if by magic there were just two on display when we arrived.We were greeted with a warm smile and a friendly greeting and had a coffee and a tea to wash down our rolls.There is a lot on offer here and it all looks amazing. The whole place is well laid out and clean and tidy and there is a kids area at the side.Just a tad on the pricey side but I must say our bacon rolls went down very well.

I always really enjoy the sorbets here, interesting flavours and they always have a dairy free option.

We eat and drink at this coffee shop most weekends. The coffee is great and the food we have tried so far paninis, croissants, bacon rolls and geleto has all been very good.

A nice outdoor meeting place in Canbury Gardens, with excellent Italian ice-creams and sorbets, usually a choice of 3, selection changing regularly.

I am quite fussy with coffee and at Canbury Secret I found my paradise. Coffee is of outstanding quality, great gelato and pastries. Amazing location! Will be back soon

Absolute must if you’re walking along the river! It’s not just for families either - great coffee and choice of shakes & juices. Gluten and dairy free options, even on ice cream. The ice cream and other Italian food is simply amazing.... warm welcome from Filippo the owner and his team. Free WiFi and benches to sit down, so perfect for working outside too!

Canbury Secret is in a convenient location in Canbury Gardens. They sell good coffee and excellent ice cream.

In a beautiful setting this little cafe is a great stop for a quick bite and something sweat with great Italian coffees. We had some very nice pasta and a delicious gelato. Service for warm food was slow but the sun and park made up for the wait. Believe some staff might have been in training.

What a difference this fantastic cafe has made to the park. It is a place where the local community enjoy top quality coffee food and gelato and park users and passer by’s cannot believe their luck at finding this gem. Filippo his wife and team are just wonderful!!

We stopped for coffee at this small cafe in Canbury Gardens. The coffee was good and my 1 year old son enjoyed playing in the childrens play area next to the cafe.

Beautiful setting on the river 5 mind walk north of the river. Wonderful selection of eats, great coffee and delicious gelato, best coffee spot in the area.

Stopped for a cup of tea, pleased to find many flavours and settled into an Earl Grey with a very nicely baked croissant. Extremely nice people serving you, the Italian owner being on site makes a big difference.

My partner and I are local to Kingston and went to the Canbury Secret (which isn't very secret) and picked up some almond croissants and some drinks. The caramel hot chocolate was good, as was the cream on top. My partner said his latte was good. The almond croissants were thick but yummy and had a good crispy taste. I would definitely be back and would recommend a visit.

Fantastic gelato and really friendly service. Great to see it open again after the winter break. We had the mixed berry ice cream and it's amazing, really fresh and natural flavours. They also do lovely coffees and light snacks.

What a great café in a great location. There was definitely a gap for a coffee shop along the river into town and this is fab. The coffee is lovely and the staff are friendly. I love the outdoor seating area where you can watch your toddler scoot up & down the bandstand ramp!!!

Down from the north due to helping my daughter move into University. I thought I would take an early morning walk and I was pleasantly surprised to find this little gem.

Been waiting for the opening for so long. Living just around the corner and been regular now for months. Great quality coffee and lots of different options. The staff is friendly and always happy. Highly recommended for a quick stoo with the kids. Obviously the Gelato is to die for.
