Wrekin Giant in Telford and Wrekin

I came here this evening for food and was impressed with a young lad called Jamie, very polite and well mannered and made sure everything was ok with our food. The food was lovely also.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat, and a coffee, my wife and I, very happy with menu offer and the much needed coffee. Staff were very attentive and the Duty Manager "Claire" and her team made us feel valued, Food reasonable in price. Will be going again

Super good deal on food - 2 meals + pudding was 7.50 Kirsty was really sweet and helpful Brandon had a large amount of knowledge on the drinks and was able to help choose something I’d like Jack (chef) made the food perfectly and was very tasty

We came for my daughter’s birthday meal. Great service and great staff !!! We will be back. Special thanks to Kirsty for making it special. I hope she enjoyed the cake !!!!

Every time I have been here the food had been incredible and the people are so nice

Wonderful meal today with my daughter, whilst there we witnessed a customer complaint where sadly staff were threatened and the manager dealt with it wonderfully ensuring that both customers and more importantly her staff were kept safe and free from anymore abuse. Staff went out of their way to apologise to us afterwards and ensure that our dining experience wasn’t ruined.

Good visit. Just a couple things, two ladies working at the bar, both had braces, just chatting away at the dishwasher side, then they saw me waiting and carried on chatting, then decided to serve me and was complaining about their shifts, it was actually quicker to get a drink on the app than them two serving. I booked a table and stated that we had a wheelchair user, and would need a chair moving, which I got a reply I think from Emma, to say it’s been added to the notes, yet we had to move a chair ourselves so that was pointless. The lady who brought out our food was AMAZING, wish I could have tipped her, but didn’t see her before we left. Food was great, came out hot and pretty quick.

We visited this weekend Staff were absolutely amazing so friendly helpful fun and very professional. Manager was superb and great with her staff we visit every year and are never disappointed. Thank you again We will back again

I came on my own and the staff were very welcoming. I was struggling with getting access to WiFi and the staff couldn't be anymore helpful. Wonderful breakfast too. Great way to start the day.

Visited here on Saturday, we booked a table beforehand. The manager called Lauren was lovely. It was very busy but the service was very good. We was told a wait on food as we were seated which we didn’t mind as we could see how busy it was. We tried the walk in festive menu, my mum had the soup which she said was really nice. We will definitely be rebooking for our next family meal.

Just had the Christmas Dinner, it was awful. Roast potatoes clearly warmed up in the deep fat fryer. A miniscule amount of turkey and 1 square inch of overdone stuffing. Food served without cutlery and then after a wait only forks available. Knives eventually turned up! Really wish I hadn't bothered.

Never have I had a more pleasant meal. Lauren was so polite and helpful, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was 10/10 and the service was A*. Thanks to the amazing manager Lauren for the wonderful care given to us. Will be coming again.

Booked our annual Christmas meal with a table for 12 on 20th July for 4.30pm on Saturday 30th November at The Wrekin Giant in Telford. We arrived early at 4.15pm to be told our reserved table had been taken. There were a LOT of empty tables, maybe that should have been our clue to go somewhere else. We moved small tables to create enough space for all of us and we were offerred blue light discount of 15% from our bill. Blue light is a special discount for retired workers & members of the emergency services, which should always be accompanied by proof of identity so that it is not misused. We all placed our orders, having to change what we wanted when a few were not available. Dishes arrived in dribs and drabs. While in most cases the 'meat' was freshly cooked and hot the accompaniments were either cool, cold, undercooked or burnt. One dish the burnt smell was so strong we could all smell it coming, all the vegetables on the Sizzler plate were burnt in place. Pudding, when it arrived was interesting, apple crumble with extra berries on the side. It took 4 attempts to get my order right, with the manageress coming over to say the waitress who delivered the first wrong pudding was only new and was upset that it had been wrong and sent back. I did not berate or raise my voice at this young girl, most of the servers were young and appeared to be new. There were many empty tables and after our experience we could understand why. After using this restaurant for many years we are looking at an alternative for next year. Responded to the Owner by email and have not had a reply

Ordered four meals and one was wrong and two were cold so the four of us pretty much ate at different times. Went here a few years ago, and it was great, it's gone right down hill and definitely won't be going back 😠

Not great -limited beers available-abbott ale or Abbott ale . Usual all in one bag -in the fryer -there you go -that's hungry horse for you ! Atmosphere was crap ! Won't bother again.

Went in for breakfast this morning with my partner, I ordered the steak and eggs medium rare and my partner ordered the mega breakfast. When the food came, I cut into the steak and it was raw. I put my finger in the centre and it was cold. So, the staff advised they were going to get a fresh plate for me. Then, whilst my partner was eating, we noticed a long curly black hair in his breakfast. (I’m blonde and he has mousy brown short hair). My partner went to the bar to show the staff the hair in his food and there wasn’t a single care from the staff at all. When he asked for the money back for our meals, he was given £5 short and offered a bottle from the fridge. We don’t drink so we took two j2os, still doesn’t make up for ruining our breakfast completely. Needless to say we will not be eating here ever again. We don’t expect gourmet from a gastro pub but we certainly expect hygiene and cooked food. Really poor experience.

Tamara is one of the most friendliest workers, always approachable, helping, and friendly! I find she’s easy to order with especially when it comes to taking items of a meal and adding extras, theirs no hesitation and always willing to help when needed

The experience was very atmospheric and lovely one of the staff named Ryan England look after me and my freind well.He got us comfortable with layout of the wrekin giants areas.And he was incredibly helpful and passionate about his work and looking after customers such a kind soul and professional.

Nice place with fast service. The staff is incredibly friendly. I've started having breakfast here quite often. The breakfasts are delightful, with options to suit any taste. The coffee is also delicious!

I had the pleasure of dining at the Wrekin giant today, and I have to say the service was outstanding. Our waiter. (Kelly) was amazing from start to finish! She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without feeling rushed. She was impressive and very patient with us. Not only did she check in regularly, but she also had a warm personality that made the experience even better. The food was delicious, but it was the excellent service that truly stood out. We’ll definitely be back, thanks to her Kelly. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for great food with even better service!

Booked a table this evening for my daughters birthday which was made extra special by Chelsea. When the desserts were bought out Chelsea had bought my daughters chocolate fudge cake out with a candle in and wished her happy birthday. Thank you Chelsea you made our evening.

Excellent, friendly service. Nothing was too much trouble as we had an autistic person and several young children in our group. Food was speedy, tasty and hot. Very filling portions and the wife loved the wine

Thursday 18th Oct-24 saw us, a party of four, go to the Wrekin Giant. We ordered via the app, which was quick and easy to use. The drinks arrived almost immediately. The food was excellent. I had the mini mixed grill with everything cooked well. We also had burgers which were great. We followed that with desserts, my sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I've had. All in all, a great night, a good atmosphere, great service (shout out to Claire), and all at a reasonable price. Four people, drinks mains and dessert for around £75. Will go again for sure.

Sunny and Lauren were fab! Fantastic customer service and super friendly and helpful. Couldn't look after us enough. We love coming here for big family gatherings. Chil-friendly and relaxed. One minor point would be music as we had children with additional needs and it made them louder talking over music. But other than that, perfect!

Great food and amazing staff, food arrived quickly and the staff always serve with a smile and a ‘go too’ attitude. Always makes us feel welcome. We are regulars of the pub and didn’t recognise a few staff member but the servers and the lady behind the bar served with a smile with great manner. Sonny as always is bubbly and full of energy, great to see.

Sunny greeted us and got us seated very quickly. He got colouring sheets and crayons for my 3 young children and was very accommodating. In the rush of ordering, I forgot to order one of the kids meals and the team sorted it for me straight away and got the meal out within minutes. Thank you for a lovely lunch!

Awful experience. There was no one in the bar to take our order with other customers waiting before and after us. Table was sticky so had to clean with a wipe. It was much dirtier than it looked. Some of the cutlery was dirty and the seats needed cleaning of sauce drips etc. We had 3 meals, they were all cold and hardly any of it. One had under-cooked chips. One had scampi that was so cold they didn't look safe to eat. As for the veggie option, I've added a photo! All stone cold with a few cardboard chips. This cost £10.99!! We complained that it was all cold and as everything else was gross we wanted to go else where. We were offered our money back (for the food only). They then proceeded to give a refund of the incorrect amount so my husband had to go back to the till again to sort it out. Hungry horse pubs used to be good with lots of hot food filling a plate. What has gone wrong?

Been in the past but this time food was awful. Left most of the meal. Steak chewy and more fat than anything. As well as this the other elements to the food were just bland and no taste. Chicken wings were again no taste and hardly any meat, more fat and bone so left most. Staff don't seem to be interested, won't visit again

Worst meal I have had . The starter came out with the main meal, my steak which I asked for medium was well done and my daughters sweet corn was so cold you could squeeze the water ouf of it .

I have always had a really good experience here. The staff are always so helpful, kind and accommodating. As a wheelchair user I feel comfortable, welcomed and there's adequate facilities/ space. We had such a lovely welcome from Sunny today too. Great service. Yummy, fair priced food too.
