Really lovely meal with family. Attentive but not intrusive waiter, food was excellent, meals were served together and piping hot

Such a lovely pub. Been here many times over the years and it never disappoints. Food is excellent, staff courteous and the interiors snug and cosy with vintage furnishings and lovely open fires throughout the winter.

Lovely food, but disappointing service. Several orders forgotten, drinks just left at the bar for a long time and not brought over, we even had to get our own menus. Normally great, but this time poor.

This pub is great for home cooked comfort food. My husband and I are staying at Weston Park and this pub is recommended in the visitors guide. We hadn’t booked but the lady behind the bar made us feel welcome and showed us to a table towards the back of the restaurant. The young waitress was polite and attentive and gave us time to read the menu and make our choices. We waited approximately 10/15 minutes for our meals which was just the right length of time to wait. My husband had the coq au vin pie and I had the venison, both meals were delicious with a generous helping of vegetables. We shared a dessert which completed a very good meal. Thank you

Always had a good experience at The Fox. I didn’t want anything to rich so I went for the fish&chips. Fish looked good but the chips were disappointing, most meals at the fox are always so Rustic, but why not the chips?? Aldi frozen chips are better, had to send them back as they were still frozen in the middle, They returned a fresh lot of veg hot chips but still couldn’t eat them…. And by this time the fish was cold and soggy. So I left the meal. I’m Sure this is a one off, and I didn’t have to pay for my meal. RECOMMEND…. Nice home made rustic chips would be lovely.

Saturday lunch time meal with friends. Restaurant very busy and noisy. Service was slow- an hour to get drinks, menus and starters, and then another long wait for main meals. Food was good, quality ingredients, nicely presented and very tasty, but every one of the 4 meals was small. I had sea bass with bombay potatoes, it was delicious but I was still hungry when I had finished and the same comment was made about the fish stew. And at £20 I felt this was very expensive. Service throughout was slow, insufficient servers for a busy restaurant, they were pleasant enough but this does not compensate for such slow service

It was my 59th birthday TODAY & unfortunately felt a bit ignored, on entering the bar staff had backs to us and I had to ask for assistance. Secondly lead to our table and not offered drinks or even water , 20 minutes later I had to ask if we could order some drinks and some water , another 15 minutes before they arrived.. the staff seemed more occupied about laying a table next to us for a birthday party .. unaware it could also be be some other guests already present celebrating their birthday!

This is my second visit back since after lockdown and they are following guidelines amazingly. It feels so safe ☺️

Lovely place with great food and well priced. The staff are polite and attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed our recent family meal here.

Great atmosphere with real candles on every table and a lovely real fire in the bar. The food was very good - when we eventually got it. Our booking was for 17.30, we ordered within 15 minutes but were not served our food until 19.00. The place was not busy at that time. Desserts also took a considerable time to arrive and they had already run out of one option that 2 of us had ordered. All the staff were very pleasant and friendly. Our waitress appeared to be quite embarrassed when she had to tell us our dessert choice was unavailable. This was 1p minutes or more after we had ordered, which points to a lack of communication between kitchen and waiting staff. The same group of friends, 4 of us, have another booking at a similar time next month, when hopefully the timings will have improved.

Very disappointed with the service. A few things went wrong, including a very long wait for our mains. The restaurant was not busy and this was down to human error. We were offered a few vouchers which totalled to the equivalent of one half price main which felt like a kick in the teeth once we had been there for hours with a young child and baby.

Usual B & P high standard presentation, food very nice but I'd say slightly small portions? They are also struggling a little with service; waiting-on staff are good but kitchen doesn't appear to be able to get orders out in a reasonable time. Recommend however.

Being quite new to the area, this was our first visit to The Fox, and it certainly won't be the last. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. Thank you.

Just had a drink here en route. I just wish we had a pub like this near us. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Disappointing. The main meals weren't as warm as they should be. My Mum and uncle had roast beef and it was so tough my uncle almost choked on it. My Mums brownie arrived frozen when it should have been warmed through with ice cream. At £40 a head, I wouldn't be returning any time soon. Staff were lovely and the atmosphere was great. Perhaps the staff are trying to keep too many people happy and the quality of the food is suffering.

Lovely pub to eat and relax or just to go for a pint. Outdoor area is very well look after.

Staff are friendly. They make absolutely certain customers don't have food allergies.Varied menu. Came a couple of days ago BEST fish and chips for a very long time. Husband thoroughly enjoyed the boar pie.

Not what it used to be - when it first opened many years ago this place was a treat, now it has turned into a trick. Popped in for a late Sunday lunch, once ordered shocked at the cost of 2 x Sunday dinners, one course and 2 drinks for over £50 - it would need to be very special to justify, sadly it was not. Portions were embarrassing, 4 x catering pack spuds, some stewed cabbage, one small carrot and a splash of gravy, even forget to plate up some things it listed on the menu. What we got tasted OK but there are other places around now that do this a lot better for a lot less. Shame, we will miss you but as with others we will be swerving until you wake up to where you have gone from where you have been...

Visited with friends for Saturday lunch, restaurant surprisingly quiet. Ordered drinks at bar good selection wines and beers. Collected menus and orders taken quickly. Servers all friendly and professional. A comprehensive menu with a number of interesting vegetarian options. Starters arrived in an appropriate time, all quite good but would have liked butter with the pate. We all chose different main courses, I went for the aubergine moussaka- nothing wrong with it but it was rather bland and boring and the fattoush salad was a lettuce leaf and 2 cherry tomatoes! . My husband said the sausage and mash was delicious. Tables well spaced and I like that the restaurant has a number of different parts rather than one big room. Will definitely visit again

This was a lunch experience to forget and not repeat. The salmon fillet was overcooked on a bed of some type of inedible green vegetables and just one strand of a noodle. The wild boar and pork pie in a hard stale pastry was tasteless. Great pity because the staff were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic country pub, lovely both inside and out, clean and well looked after. Food was lovely, and our waitress Megan was brilliant, really knew her job, very professional and a beautiful smile thrown in as well, well worth a visit, the pub that is, not Megan, but she was lovely as well👏🤣👌🍜🍝

Fox is a lovely pub with nice atmosphere to it but this rating is purely based on the food presented.I ordered moroccan lamb burger £16 + and found that the meat was not genuine but processed meat similar to what you get in MCdonalds & burger king.It was a disapointement I had the bun with chips alone as I was hungry but left the processed meat. I reported my experience to the staff but she took no action as I was fully billed for it so for any burger stick with "steak burger" at least its a genuine meat,I did enjoyed my starter & my drink

Very helpful staff, with brilliant knowledge about allergens and intolerances. Knew ingredients of various dishes. Our main meals were delicious and the desserts were amazing.

Great food and excellent service in a lovely atmosphere. The pub was fairly busy but plenty of parking. Service was very good and food above average for your typical pub food and not too expensive.

Good food at reasonable prices. Good choice of food and varied menu. Friendly and attentive staff. Comfortable and welcoming. Dog friendly. We ate in the bar area where our dog was also made welcome.

It's location is lovely, nice pub/ restaurant with lots of space and decent decor. Food & service was fine, no complaints. Enjoyed a weekday lunch with friends.

Had a really nice meal at the fox, great selection of beers and lovely food. Paul our server was absolutely fantastic, took great care of us and was only too happy to recommend some gluten free food and drinks for one of our party as well. Would definitely recommend the fox and will be visiting again myself soon.

Avoid the rude long beard man behind the bar. Otherwise, no bad for a Shropshire country pub.

What a gem of a place, busy but great service. Good was spot on.

I've used the fox infrequently over the years, the food is very good quality and a great selection of drinks. I have a caveat though it's expensive particularly the drinks which makes me less inclined to return. That being said, they are always busy and the staff are excellent.

Venue good, food ok service poor. Very busy which is fine, however it took an hour for the starters and a further hour for the mains.

We visited for Sunday lunch and sat in the lovely garden area. We all enjoyed our food and the vegan ( & gluten free) spiced cauliflower, lentil and spinach pie, bombay potatoes & roast vegetables was delicious. Staff were friendly and service was good.

Wow the food is delicious! The courgette and pomegranate salad was really tasty and just tucking into the roast peach and parkin. If I am ever in this neck of the woods again I will definitely be back!

Nice place! Maybe I had chosen nit the best meal (size of salmon seems small to me) but I had seen some other servings of other meals from my colleagues & it seems better. Place is within the middle of the village but reachable!

DOG LOVERS BEWARE: Only giving 1 star as is as low as you can go! Very poor had to leave early due to conduct of staff. Say dog friendly but your dog better not make any noise whatsoever, it’s ok for other people’s dogs to bark but not yours! Be warned! It ruined my Birthday 🎂 lunch with my husband, precious time wasted! Gutted would not return ever again.

I met my friend here for lunch with my young toddler daughter. The food was freshly cooked so we waited a bit longer for food as you'd expect. The quality of food was amazing, my little girl enjoyed her homemade fish fingers and chunky chips but couldn't manage it all. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Can't fault at all and we will be back very soon!

I like The Fox but always feel pricing is on the high side for what you actually get. Great atmosphere though to enjoy your meal.

Last-minute decision to have tea at The Fox, Newport. We were seated right away, which was great. The menu was limited, which I appreciate as it usually means the chefs can focus on quality. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything that really appealed to me. I opted for the steak burger; the patty was cooked well, though I would have liked it to be a bit more seasoned. The bun, however, was crispy like it had been previously frozen and toasted to defrost, causing it to break apart. My boyfriend had the pork rib eye, which he wasn't impressed with—it was dry and tasted like it had been cooked earlier and kept warm. We also tried the halloumi fries, which looked impressive but were cut so large they ended up being rubbery. Overall, the food was nice, but I don't think it justified the price tag. The staff were friendly but very busy, and the service was a bit slow as a result. Given the cost versus the quality, I would not choose to return.

We always get a great meal and great service at The Fox. That's why we go back again and again.

Food was good, service was a little patchy. Long wait for first drinks to be served. Hot drink and small dessert arrived too far apart, drinks would have have been cold if we'd waited for the desserts. Seemed to be too few staff for the number of customers on a Friday lunchtime

Love the new menu, atmosphere is always what it is at the Fox, which is superb. Staff on a busy Sunday, were extremely polite, helpful and efficient. Never fails to deliver whether it is lunch or dinner. Looking forward to going back again soon.

All the staff were very accommodating as it was my daughters 21st. Food served quickly and friendly polite staff. 1st time at the fox but won't be the last. Enjoyed it alot

Today we had a table booked in the conservatory for my birthday. I was joined by my sister, two brothers, sister-in-law and nephew. We ALL had an absolutely lovely time, the food was 100% (amazing lamb roast) and the service was second to none. Overall lovely experience! Thank you to Jonathon and all the staff there, particularly those in the kitchen.

A period building with lots of character retained. Interesting menu with lots of unusual items to chose from. We all enjoyed our food, all very good. Great choice of ales on tap as well.

We went for Sunday lunch; it came out cold so we sent it back. A fresh lunch was plated up for us in seconds which was odd in itself! The Porcetta is incredible. Our waitress was lovely and helpful without being intrusive. A very expensive meal and very expensive drinks. Such a shame as it used to be fabulous. Maybe it was just a bad day as we've had a wonderful meal there before.

The Fox is always good but today was exceptional. A fabulous seasonal menu with real breath. My husband and I chose very different courses and both had a wonderful meal. Well done The Fox, much appreciated.

Good food and drink but they missed something off of the order. Sorted out eventually. Update 21/03/2024: Went again. My food was delicious. The place had a low key buzzing feel. Vibrant but not frenetic. Just what you want for a meal out. Or at least I do.

The food was lovely a little pricy for what was on the plate, but the beef was devine. The staff were not as attentive as in most places, but they did come when asked. Drinks took a little while to come to the table, and we had to ask for the wine menu. But all in all a beautiful place, can't wait foe the summer to have drinks in the garden.

Our son booked for Mother's Day. Excellent pint of Guinness on arrival. Very good menu with Gluten free options, which meant that my wife, who is coeliac was well provided for. Food was first class, as was the service & atmosphere in general. Couldn't fault a thing. Well done & thank you all at The Fox

Booked a few weeks ago for today with my parents. Arrived today, no sign of booking, accidents happen but no attempt to accommodate, no apology. Staff were snotty and implied we hadn't booked. This our 2nd poor experience here.

Friends booked the table for a long awaited get together. My last experience wasn’t very positive so I was a bit dubious. It proved to be a lot better than I anticipated. The menu was the same or very similar to other Brunning and Price places, lots of choice with main meals and light bites; quite expensive but reflecting the cost of living increases. Of the light bites, the flatbread with coronation chicken was found to be very hard and difficult to cut so somewhat disappointing. The cauliflower and coconut fritters dish with mango salad was interesting and enjoyable. The fritters didn’t have identifiable cauliflower or coconut as they were blended with either flour or potato but the katsu curry dressing gave extra flavour. The salad was vibrant and tasty with sushi ginger and chilli but could have done with more mango as per the description. Two of us had the mini dessert with a hot drink at £8.95, again quite expensive but tea on its own would be £3.95. We shared a nice big pot of tea, plenty for both to have refills. The other friend had a regular dessert which she was very happy with. The service was pleasant and the waiter was happy to split the bill for us to pay separately. On the basis of this visit I’d go again.

Really enjoyed this place. Great atmosphere, nice food, great service. The highlight for me, being Italian, was the espresso: I'm always anxious about ordering one, as a bad one would spoil the whole thing for me. To my surprise, it was one of the best coffee had in this Country! Well done!

Been here a few times and had a great food so came here with family for a special get together. Was so disappointed as the food was not as the previous standard, not the same quality and smaller portions but more expensive. Service was extremely slow and female waitress lacked in customer service..won’t revisit as there other venues that offer a better quality experience!

Been twice over a few months with my fiancé, both times been seated at large tables when there are multiple tables for two available, and when asked if we could move, they said no! Food is alright though.

Seriously this is the easiest good reference I've ever given, a restaurant is only as good as the chef and the waiters welcome. The only negative I can give is that service was a little slow but that was because the place was very busy and from the look of it they need another waitress. Other than that the food was incredible. Its been a very long time since I enjoyed a Sunday lunch so much! Everything was cooked to perfection. The vegetables were just divine, the beef was perfection. I didnt think they could do anything better until they brought my desert! I ordered the glazed banana waffle with honeycomb icecream which was so devine if I could I would go there every day just to have that dessert again. I just can't say enough good things about my experience at The Fox. It was awesome. :-) Thank you to the young woman who was the hostess yesterday she was kind and very helpful, and obviously takes pride in her work. I wish I had asked her name but I was too shy... thank you for a wonderful meal

came here with family (group of 16!) on a Saturday afternoon and was really impressed. The waitress was friendly and efficient and the whole experience was smooth considering we were a large group ordering three courses plus drinks at a peak time. Food was also tasty :)

Lovely pub/restaurant. Plenty of architectural oddities to enjoy especially the arched dining room ceiling. Good service, ales well kept and quality menu. We like it!

As usual this place lived up to our expectations. Lovely food, good service and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The starter course was brilliant. It was a wild boar and rabbit pasty with garish and mustard sauce. The main course I selected was a full traditional Christmas dinner. The desert was a chocolate and sherry trifle, which was excellent, and I would have happily had seconds.

A traditional and very nicely decorated pub with a great atmosphere and barrier-free access. The food, especially the Sunday lunch, is very tasty. The traditional dishes such as roast beef or Yorkshire pudding are highly recommended. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The price-performance ratio is very good and the pub is therefore an absolute recommendation.

What a find! ‘Pub near me’ google search and up popped the Fox. A quick phone call and we were booked in last minute. From arrival to departure everything was perfect. A warm and friendly atmosphere with a real buzz about the place. The food was excellent as was the service. I cannot honestly fault anything. Will definitely be back. Thanks team 🦊
