Took my parents for a summers lunch. A wonderful experience. Sat outside under a cherry tree, in the warmth of the midday sun, while the Guinea fowl wandered by. An idyllic setting matched by some equally tasty food. We had a variety of dishes but the whole crab was the piece de resistance. A little above average price but the ingredients are quality, the setting is lovely and the staff are very helpful and polite. A great treat.

What a unique and wonderful sensory experience, a hidden gem! Fabulous garden, fresh 3 course late lunch for two on Friday 2nd August. The passion and love for their ingredients was self evident but to be clear this place is big on “character” and “slow food”, the antithesis of modern chain restaurants and more authentic and in stark contrast to the more formulaic and manicured “farmshop/garden centre” restaurants typical of the area. It’s like eating in someone’s private kitchen garden or giant allotment. Talk about field to plate provenance, ingredients don’t get fresher than this! We were fortunate to visit on a warm summer afternoon and our table for two, shaded by parasol and fruit trees, was alfresco rambling kitchen garden summer perfection. Other tables for 2, 4 and 6 are spaced so far apart around the restaurant sheds and out into the abundant gardens that we didn’t notice half of them until we explored later. For seating at other times of year there appeared to be rustic tables in two parts of the shed and one high ceilinged greenhouse. The menu is short and, as advertised, seasonal. To start we shared decadent pork crackling with a mirabelle chutney and beautifully sweet tomatoes in a caprese-like salad. For our mains we chose the house mezze - principally homemade babaganoush (fabulous), hummus, tomatillo salad with crusty white house-baked ciabatta-style bread - and then whole mackerel (bbq chard) and beetroot. It was a crime not to try more than one of the three fabulous looking puddings - something chocolate, an amazing sounding cheesecake and a mixed fruit frangipane. We had the latter - a taste sensation. We made the most of the suggestion to explore the gardens and there appeared to be no limitations to this. There are a number of huge greenhouses bursting with tomato plants, vines and other veg. These are interspersed with combined vegetable and flower beds and fruit trees. We found chickens, geese and turkeys but must have missed the pigs. On our way we came across friendly gardeners and Stacey Gledhill, the artist in residence for the summer. To be clear these are not manicured gardens, they are beautifully wild and at this time of year watering and harvesting takes priority over weeding or meticulous tidying up. Since our visit I’ve read back through reviews on the usual platforms and have noticed occasionally severe criticism of this establishment when it comes to service, speed of service and pricing. We have no such complaints but it is possible to imagine how they might occasionally arise. Staff are surely not drilled to corporate style rulebooks; some tables are hidden and further from the hub; for this quality, prices are understandably at the high-end of gastropub levels; and this is a working kitchen garden. In the end it’s a matter of taste, preferences and expectations. For us this was genuinely a five star / exceeded expectations experience in all respects.

Visited today for lunch. Beautiful setting and lovely food but I have never experienced such appalling service anywhere in the world! Our waitress was surly, clueless and couldn’t hide the fact that she hates her job. Repeated requests for cutlery, repeated requests for serviettes, repeated requests for water. Huge waits, no response. And it was far from busy … If the management of this place has any self respect it needs to sack the staff who have no respect for their customers. This restaurant is expensive so to charge these prices, the staff need to be trained properly. This place has such potential but sadly, we will not be returning…

Fantastic food, heavenly setting. We had a wonderful lunch at Worton Kitchen Garden - at a table surrounded by shoulder-high flowers. Our meal was excellent - delicious gazpacho, tomato salad, artichokes and perfectly cooked fish. We chatted with Simon, the owner, and his co-chef daughter Bea, and wandered through the beautiful organic farm. Highly recommended.

I booked a table here a couple of weeks ago after reading an article in the Saturday or Sunday Times (can’t remember which one!) and what an absolute treat it was, number one lunch spot of 2024 so far. The gardens are bursting with life and tables are dotted around this beautiful space. You can eat indoors in the restaurant or conservatory but on a sunny day, outside is perfect. Vegetables are home grown and full of flavour. Simon the owner is very welcoming and will happily have a chat about the history of the kitchen gardens and how they came to be. My partner had the marinda tomato, buffalo mozzarella and lovage salad to start and I had the pear, endive and stichelton (blue cheese) and walnut salad. We both commented on the freshness and quality of the ingredients. Next was smoked bacon with lentils for him and the Cornish cock crab for me (half). It was all super fresh and my crab came with a herb salad from the garden with sour dough and a sorrel mayonnaise. Everything on my plate was to die for and exceptional. It took over an hour and a half to eat the crab alone which was huge! For pudding we copied the people on the next table to us with the spiced plum pavlova to share. It was huge and had lovely spicy notes of cinnamon. The waitresses were fabulous and very chatty and helpful too. The only thing my partner said was that maybe they could have had more local beers with the abundance of breweries in Oxfordshire and maybe offer some English wine but that didn’t really matter. We can’t wait to go back and I’m going to recommend it to all my friends and family. Thank you to Simon, his daughter working in the kitchen that day and all the staff who make Worton Kitchen Gardens the success that it is.

We were really disappointed after our lunch at Worton Kitchen. The concept is great, however the reality was poor, very slow service (we waited about an hour for 2 main meals) and very expensive. The food was OK but nothing special. I really wanted to love this place but we left feeling really underwhelmed and a bit ripped off.

The place may be quirky and lots of produce home grown but it needed a clean, service was slow and some of the dishes were simply awful. Burnt bread, burnt leaks, dry and overcooked Hake, rock hard roast potatoes, greasy gravy. The puddings were good which gave it an extra star. Too expensive for why it was.

Lovely setting but oh my goodness to be served food by someone in filthy trousers and an apron with so many food stains and grease on it was very off putting. To be told no staff had turned up so he couldn’t cook eggs when we were the only people there. Need to clean up their act …. this is not a place I would return to. Awful.

We took my mum here for her birthday. Really lovely setting but the food was awful, service slow and prices extortionate. Two of our table had the curry which tasted solely of pepper and curry powder. Another had the sausages which were gristly, undercooked and coarse. I had the bacon chop which just tasted of salt. I also think charging £4 for a tiny glass of elderflower cordial is an insult, and the prices in general for the quality and portion size are quite steep.

The best genuine, quality, organic restaurant in a fifty miles radius in a setting where you can relax and enjoy for hours and hours. The owner curates the menu and cooks the food himself, including the fresh sourdough bread, cakes and croissants, and much of the food is grown on the farm, including fantastic pork, duck, chicken, all manner of eggs and fresh vegetables. Much of these are also available to purchase from the shop. Prices are similar to a gastropub but there is no comparison. Having talked to the owner, there are some objective difficulties. Being some distance from a major town, they are dependent on local villages for staff, so service can vary depending on the situation. So if you want guaranteed polished service, best go elsewhere (even if I have found the service good over tha last several months). On the other hand, if you would like to patronise and enjoy a unique, independent restuarant where heart and soul is put into the food and the wonderful, seasonal setting (and occasionally go to the couter to hurry along your cake if need be), then WKG is the place to be. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g1205231-d6598717-r940772000-Worton_Kitchen_Garden-Worton_North_Yorkshire_England.html#

Excellent, thoughtful and interesting food, served in a lovely kitchen garden setting with service that felt really personal. This tucked away little shop and kitchen has always been a tranquil food focused oasis. On Saturday we all had the best meal out that any of us can remember. Our waiter was so patient, knowledgeable and helpful and even though the sunny glass house was full, everything came out at just the right pace and each dish was all about the flavours and amazing fresh ingredients. Simon the chef/owner is brilliant and really makes sure you understand the menu and feel looked after. Some recent negative reviewers can't be talking about the same place or maybe just prefer something more familiar? It's not a standard restaurant format, it's quirky but that's what makes it so special. We had the Cornish crab and the home made Tuscan fennel sausages and coco beans, with two plates of the best ever sourdough bread to mop up every last bit of sauce - like everything in the whole place, it was all done with love and amazing attention to detail! The bread alone is so mind blowing we had to buy two more loafs, which you can get in their brilliantly stocked farm shop. Go with an open mind, empty tummy and relaxed vibe and you'll leave extremely happy.

I've eaten here many times over the years, but I'm reluctant to return again. I came here for coffee and cake on my own recently. There were very few customers were here at the time. Lots of tables needed clearing after lunch. I found a table which I cleared myself and after some time, no-one had come out to see me, so I went in to order. I asked if I should order here or someone would come out and no answer was given. I then asked if I could order at the counter/kitchen and my order was taken. Again, no clarity on when to pay when asked, so I paid then and there. Around £10 for one piece of cake and a small cafetière coffee. I returned to my table (having given them the number) and nothing appeared for a good while - around 10-15 minutes. I went in and the staff member who took the order was then sat at a table having lunch. Fine, but surely they would have brought me my order first? The owner was on the table next to the kitchen and said nothing throughout - barely a smile was mustered. I asked about my order and they made it up and I took it out to the table myself. The cake was stale - it would have been better the day before, I suspect. Coffee was fine. I also ordered tap water, which came in a filthy bottle with black grot encrusted around the clip top. The crockery was not very clean. It was all a bit sad. I know they have always used high quality ingredients for which I am happy to pay, but the delivery is just so sloppy, it does not justify the cost or indeed the experience. On the last visit, the owner was relieving themselves outside the shop. They went back in (to serve food) with no sign of a hand wash. There are regular favourites here who I believe get preferential treatment. More rigour is needed in terms of service, presentation and quality of food and drink. As a customer, the experience is not good enough to justify coming here at the moment. Regular custom is barely acknowledged.

Food we had was great, really great, but........... Listening to the grumpy chef talking to his staff like morons wasn't nice as we waited to let somebody know we were there for our booked table. Asking 3 times for glasses to go with our water was a little annoying. Then we tried for 1/2hr to get somebody to take our dessert order after our main course. We gave up and went back to the front of house to pay. The main courses we had were excellent, but there is no excuse for such terrible service, and were appalled at the attitude of the chef to his staff.

Not easy to find this small hidden gem outside Oxford but worth the effort. Our return taxi driver nearly didn’t make it. Imagine a wet October afternoon sitting in an elderly glasshouse well heated by a wood burning stove in torrential rain with the odd drop from the roof.. Dahlias from the garden on every table. Then a delicious lunch arrives - starting with a basket of warm homemade sourdough bread baked by the owner. Difficult to choose from the tempting menu - 5 starters and 9 main courses. We had large bowls of scrumptious Ribollito soup, a pear, endive, walnut and Stitchelton salad, a whole artichoke with Hollandaise sauce. Followed by rabbit in a creamy sauce with their homegrown baby potatoes and a delicious dressed green salad, an enormous cock crab, a roasted whole plaice both with potatoes and broccoli and a rich melanzane alle parmigiana. Shared puddings - a generous and irresistible plum pavlova, Bounty cake, tarte tatin, and ice cream, a cafetière of coffee and a bottle of a smooth fruity Italian red wine (for 4). . Much of the produce is grown in the kitchen garden or sourced locally. Seven of us thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely lunch. Simon, the bread baker, was our genial host and Jimmy, the chef, had created a memorable meal. Do not expect luxurious surroundings but enjoy the kitchen garden setting with views of abundant ripe quinces - soon to be on the menu. At £50 a head including tip we felt well satisfied with our culinary expedition. There’s a also a small shop where we bought more bread to take home.

3 of us droped in for Lunch after a trip to Bicester Village ,having seen it recommended on Social Media as a place to eat outside Oxford . Loved the setting with the Tables scattered around under the Trees and the Greenhouses ( with produce growing inside ) , open for wandering about in . Chose to sit outside under a Vine with Grapes hanging above the Table , very European ! Service was very friendly ,helpful but somewhat erratic and had to ask for our order to be taken and relay Menu options back from a Blackboard .All a bit quirky ,but maybe that is in line with the overall concept ? Food arrived quite quickly and was very tasty ,but £18.00 /£20.00 for the main Meal and £4.00 for a small glass of Juice seems a bit pricey .....but we're not local to Oxford , so maybe that's the norm around there . Toilets very basic !! Can see the attraction ,pleased we went , but room for improvement .

My wife and I went for 8.00p.m. Saturday dinner and were impressed by the greeting . We were told a brief history if the place and invited to wander around the many flower and vegetable gardens and choose were we wished to dine . Some tables were in the restaurant, some were outside, we chose one in the large conservatory . The menu is a blackboard with today's offerings, a high percentage from the small holding itself and if bought in all from local suppliers . The staff were good at explaining the dishes and the wine list was small but matched to the food . This is an excellent example of a field to fork restaurant, best one we have tried . The cooking is all about the freshness and the flavours of the food and it works brilliantly. Go try it for yourselves, you will not be disappointed.

I found this place on the internet and was totally enchanted by the concept - I’m very outdoorsy, into nature and organic small scale farming so this really appealed. The issue is they are totally understaffed and don’t explain that you need to order at the kitchen entrance. Told to take a seat but then waited over 20 mins to be asked what we’d like to drink and eat but then told we had to look at the blackboard by the door - so had to then go back to the kitchen and wait to order (if we’d known from the beginning we’d of ordered straight away - then we waited another ten mins for drinks to arrive (whilst other louder tables drinking champagne got served much quicker ...and a table which arrived after us.) The food was tasty but I had the endive in a cheese and ham sauce - for 16 quid I think I should of had some salad at least! It should have been more like £8.50 - nothing fancy or unusual about it and I cook well at home with organic produce so it didn’t seem out of the ordinary. It’s a pity - because from the outset the idea is very cute. Clearly it appeals to wealthy city dwellers who are amazed that radish actually have leaves! And probably think it’s super niche and exciting to use a compost loo! The place was certainly full of a lot of show offs! Tulips looked fab though and love the tumble down garden vibe. Farm shop was nice. Worth going if you have cash to burn and loads of time to wait twiddling you’re diamond encrusted thumbs and seating outside for dinner is a new concept for you. Could be hugely improved by a bit more care with some sides added to the meals (or prices reduced) and a few more staff that explain how to order etc. -

Pre Booked a table for 2 on line for late lunch for hubby & myself whilst in the area for a couple of days. It was a super sunny day so sitting outside in amongst the growing patches was perfect - menu was small but good (limited choice but perfect for us veggies - and published weekly on line too so you know what to expect). We had a lovely Crown Prince squash, pepper and mozzarella salad each (good sized portions) with lovely fresh baked brown sour dough bread - followed by a gorgeous slice of Bounty Cake (moist and tasty). Bottle of tap water provided without asking. Service was friendly and attentive. Bread so scrummy we bought a loaf (along with a lovely flower arrangement grown on site for a Mothers Day gift). Such a lovely experience. Only slight concern I would have would be where we would have eaten if the weather was inclement as there was a private lunch in the glasshouse taking all available tables - but it was a super sunny day so no problem today. Only other opportunity would be on coffee selection - genuine opportunity to move on from cafetière only perhaps.

The farm is blooming with flowers, vegetables and fruit, and we sat outside surrounded by apple trees. The food was outstanding - I had superb gazpacho, then sardines with gooseberries (who'd have thought it would be great - but it was) and mirabelle plum ice cream - we could see the tree that the plums had come from. The kids loved playing in the grass. We had one mistaken type of tea - but who cares? That was all part of the delight of a wonderful afternoon!

I have been a regular customer over the last five years during which time Worton has been a uniquely lovely place to visit for the gardens , shop and lovely cafe food . We booked for lunch today and what a disaster it was ! We arrived in good time and were given a table but it went downhill from there . We were able to order after approx 40 mins after repeated requests and then we waited another hour for our food by which time we gave up and left . The staff were completely incompetent and seemed in a state of total panic . Around us orders were getting mixed up and people were waiting . I cannot comment on the quality of the food obviously but the gardens looked tatty by comparison with previous visits ( though may be the weather ) and the organic toilet smelt such that it was wafting as far as the car park when we left to go .I realise allowances for covid should be made but Worton really need to pull their socks up . I won,t be returning anytime soon but wish them success in turning this around.

Was really looking forward to trying this place post lockdown, and on arrival it looked great. Our youngest however fell asleep in the car so we decided just to get takeaway. There are no signs or directions on where to go, so we just popped along to the cafe entrance and enquired about takeout. The young waitress was very unhelpful and rude and told us to go find someone to help around by the shop. It was all very strange, it felt like we'd somehow offended her for asking for help. As we walked off she said to a table she was serving "if they don't want to sit here they can go sort themselves out, I can't be bothered". It was all quite odd, and came out of nowhere, so into the car we went, and will be trying other local places from now on.

My wife and I wanted somewhere to take our student daughter for lunch, Worton was recommended by her friend. It’s seriously hard to find and Ideally a four wheel drive vehicle Is needed to get there. The proposition is that everything is sustainable and mostly grown on the farm. The result is that the food is sensational. However there is a ‘but’! The surroundings are definitely ‘farmhouse’ and the service is patchy. The staff are friendly enough, but we had trouble attracting attention. Our request for water was met with a tiny bottle between three and when, eventually we managed to attract attention to ask for more the bottle was taken away, but no replacement was forthcoming. The third request worked, but.....We might be back purely for the quality of the ingredients, but be prepared for a long wait and as for the sustainable loos.......best not to ask.

If you are a foodie or have foodie friends go. If you like a breadth of foods and fancy some very nicely cooked food go. Even my mum who is a fussy eater of the, though now vegetarian, meat and three veg generation loves the food here. This visit a friend tried the Roe Deer Vindaloo, and others had the Rabbit in Mustard Sauce. They were very happy at their choices. High quality tasty food. The menu changes week to week so you can never be sure what you have to choose from. Vegetarian choices are limited, and it can be pot luck as to how exciting the options may be in comparison to the meat and fish ones. This time i felt i didn't get an option which provided the plateful of food that the others had, but it was great to see their enjoyment of their food. In the morning you can get lovely freshly baked croissants either to eat in or in the shop to take home. The shop sells a wide range of fruit and veg, with a few unusual varieties you don't see often thrown in when in season. There are gravel paths to access the place, and single steps down, plus door lips to negotiate.

Living in West Oxfordshire, I’ve been intending to visit Worton for over a year after reading a good review from the FT. It didn’t disappoint exactly as it’s quirky and it was lovely to sit next to the flower-scented garden for lunch. Both of us ordered mushroom quiche and salad and I think they must have divided the one remaining piece of quiche to make two slices. It was all good, the herb and green salad, the wholemeal bread and the quiche, but the price was steep for such very small slices of quiche.

Service was friendly and prompt. There are also tables outside under the verandah, in the garden and in the enormous greenhouse. It has such a relaxed feel, not at all like a restaurant. They do not take reservations so go hungry and early before the best dishes sell out. A walk around the garden is delightful with all sorts of vegetables and flowers growing. There are hens and pigs to look at. The shop is small but with a fair selection of local and imported produce.

I revel at the chance to support local independent shops. These places are disappearing quickly and we are getting less choice in the process. And, I also love gardens. Since I was in the area, I took the chance to visit Worton Garden for the first time. Unfortunately, my experience was cold and very disappointing. Not something I’d expect from a place selling fruit and veg (I visited the farm shop only). Except this place sells organic, unique foods, a qualifier in some places for unnecessary pretentious behaviour. Why this is I cannot understand.I got the impression when speaking to the owner, that there is a narrow subset of people that are welcome here. Sadly, I suspect that was the intention all along. As a paying customer, I’d rather spend my money elsewhere if this is the case. Another reviewer expressed similar thoughts. If you go, my tip is to avoid any conversation lest you are ready for cold and disdainful treatment. But who knows, you might fit the criteria for being the preferred customer.

Setting: You walk through the organic produce shop to get to the cafe. The main cafe is cosy looking and colourful with a full wall book shelf on one side and opens out into the garden area. Outside is a wonderful, slightly chaotic garden/patio. Flowers, overgrown bushes, fruit trees are just a few steps away. There's a corner under a walnut tree with haystacks for sitting in the shade and an unattended axe for the children to play with! We sat at a table near the door to the cafe. Annoyingly the table had struts right at shin height, which got me several times. If you come here. Don't forget to wear a straw or panama hat. It seemed like every table had at least one person sporting one. Everybody spoke in hushed tones, maybe because it was so hot, or just because of the peaceful garden setting.Food: Ordered Mackerel, Sea bream, Salad with figs, and Thai soup with courgette. The Mackerel (two small ones) had some herbs and spices inside tasted so-so. The vegetables were however very tasty coming with chilli and fish sauce. Bream was much more standard, but tasted probably better than the Mackerel. Salad was very pretty to look at, decorated with some light blue flowers, but taste wise was again so-so. The soup was delicious even if it didn't look particularly appetizing. For desert, Chocolate cake, lemon sorbet, black currant sorbet, orange ice cream. All absolutely amazing. Especially the lemon sorbet. In fact i'd say, overall, go just of the lemon sorbet!Service: Friendly and pretty quick.Cost: was a little pricey for the little food that we got, though to be fair it's organic and that always cost more.Overall: Go for the lovely, peaceful setting and ambience. The food is good, but not great and I wouldn't go there expecting some fabulous cuisine, with exception of the Sorbets which were very very good.

Granted that it is not a homogenised, mass-producing restaurant, more like turning up in the kitchen of your local farm, to a friendly and warm welcome with whatever is on offer.Tables aren't bookable for the simple reason that it is a small enterprise and they used to hold tables, but were let down so many times that they stopped doing this. I have to say that I've never been left without somewhere to sit, and have happily shared a bench with friendly folks who I hadn't yet met.David and Anneke are lovely, genuine folks who care a great deal about the ethic behind their farm. They have a dry sense of humour and are wonderful hosts, often sitting down with their visitors/guests for a chat and cuppa. If you want a sanitised experience, then stick with a service station, and leave room here for for those of us who give a jot!

My friend took me to the Organic Garden this weekend for lunch. Fantastic food, and a wonderful fresh food shop. An amazing place tucked away, right off the beaten track in the Shire. Don't go there, I want to keep it all to myself!

If they had had more than one option on the menu for Vegetarians then I would have give this place an excellent rating. Being new to the area I had no real idea what to expect when i took some visitors to this place. It's a little difficult to find, but when you do it's like you've found a jewel in the rough. The only option to eat for us Veggies was a soup. However what a soup! It contained homemade pasta, superb pesto and hearty tomatoes served with gorgeous bread. For dessert we had homemade rum and raisin ice cream, which was lush. The highest quality of food I have had in a long time, and fresher, and generally better than a number of 'top' restaurant I've been to. We'd recommend a short turn around the gardens between your main and dessert as they are pretty an it give s a chance for your food to go down. The only downside was the rickety composting loo. I have absolutely no objection to such toilets when they are more sturdy and less erm draughty.

Just had the most tasty lunch in a long time. All fresh produce, and cooked with real skill and knowledge of seasonality. Beautiful and tranquil setting, in amongst flowers, orchard and market garden. This place is a real gem.

I'm afraid that my experience was similar to some others I've seen. Having phoned ahead and asked whether we could book a table, we were told we couldn't, and to just turn up for a warm welcome and some lovely food. So far so promising. Having checked on the website that the cafe was open until 4pm, we agreed to meet my son who was cycling from Oxford and hoped for a late lunch. Of course, when we arrived at 2pm we found that lunch was no longer being served, and although they asked the chef, we were out of luck. Like another reviewer I wish there was something on the website to say lunch was only served until 2pm or until the food runs out. That way, expectations would be managed, and we could have chosen not to have made a special trip a long way only to be disappointed. It's a shame, as my previous experience was delightful, hence wanting to bring the family for a special treat.

My mother, two of her friends, my sister and I spent a wonderful couple of hours in the Worton Organic Gardens today. Earl Grey Tea in a bergamot coloured china pot, English breakfast tea in a white china pot, meringues, strawberries, passion fruit tart all enjoyed inside a wonderful conservatory shared with fig trees and a profusion of fragrant sweet peas. Two things to note: the Garden is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only; there is a really characterful earth toilet and so if this is a little too organic for you, you may wish to prepare yourself for your visit to the Garden..

We have now had lunch at the Worton Organic Garden Cafe twice and each time the menu was seasonal and interesting. The food tasted delicious and the setting is delightful with flowers from the garden. Last time I was there I had nettle soup which I am unlikely to cook myself and it was delicious. All the deserts look and taste wonderful. If you can't stay for lunch (or can't get in as they are often booked out) grab a pastry from the shop - wonderful.

We read about this in the Waitrose magazine and went for lunch- it gets busy so best to call and book. The choice is not vast but thats because it is properly cooked food- there is plenty for vegetarians. We had chilli with black rice and a meze to share- all well flavoured and well judged. Desert was Easter cake flavoured with orange flower water. A bottle of Sam Smith ale rounded it all off nicely. Afterwards you can visit the adjoining farm shop- full of such things as fresh organic vegetables, local honey and unusual pasta- and not forgetting artisan bread. A gem.

The food in the cafe is spectactcular, and there are gluten free, vegetarian desserts available (the chocolate brownie is melt in your mouth)The farm itself has an amazing ethos, with lovely owners you taker particular pride and care in their farm. David the owner who runs the farm side of things is extremely helpful and passionate about organic foods. (Clearly everything you would expect from running an OG farm).Highly recommend to take family for a coffee or some lunch on a lovely summers day when all the birds are signing, the bees are buzzing and the butterflies are out. Equally amazing in the winter to sit by the fire and read a great book.

I paid my first visit to Worton Organic last week. What a gem! Itwas jut an oasis of peace with a sense of Italian rustic charm that perhaps you might not expect to find in West Oxfordshire. The little shop is packed full of organic fruit, veg and home baked bread It is a feast for the eyes, let alone the palate. Then there is the cafe; charming! If the sun is shining, sitting outside surrounded by bountiful beds of edibles and flowers makes you simply happy to be alive. I enjoyed catching sight of the baker scoring the bread and returning it to the wood oven - and the smell was heavenly. Not your usual coffee stop but I will be returing over and over....

We've searched high and low for a supplier of organic fruit and vegetables and, suddenly, there it was. The shop and restaurant are inspirational and it's one of life's experiences to be buying marvellous organic produce while accompanied by the proprietor singing along to a selection of classical arias. You couldn't make it up. Shopping done you step through a small door into a time warp that in some ways resembles the tearoom in Brief Encounters. Anneke looks after this side of things and the result is a culinary revelation. On fine days you can eat outside amid the habitat that nature intended. In short, some places you have to accept on their own terms and Worton is one of them. If you're happy with that, take a deep breath and dive in ... you won't regret it.

How has this place only reiceved 9 reviews?! I visited today with my friend and we had a delicious, fuss-free lunch which came in at £31.20. 2 delicious ginger pressés, excellent large pot of tea, I had a starter of homegrown asparagus with crudo ham, my friend enjoyed the Osso Bucco and we shared a flourless chocolate cake and a delicious treacle tart. FYI There were two tables which had children with them - the kids and families looked very content. We took a long stroll around the gardens and poly tunnels after lunch, (so great to visited somewhere with SUCH a relaxed attitude to visitors) we both remarked on what a joy it was to see weeds in between cultivated plants! I found the self-composting toilets both amusing and inspiring!Visit here if you have an interest in gardening, food & nature, or simply if you enjoy supporting hard working people doing what they love. The owner was exceptionally friendly and he acknowledged us multiple times during our visit. Don't bother visiting if you have no concept of eating the seasons, haven't fed your children yet and it's past their meal time, or want to feed the owner's dog. P.S. As a dog owner, I feel VERY STRONGLY about feeding dogs from the table - don't do it! Only people who don't own dogs feed them from the table. Don't be surprised when you are told off. I'm sure you would react in the same manner if a stranger gave your child a scrap.

Beautiful garden, but totally child unfriendly, we asked if there were any kids options. And we're just told 'no just bread and butter' we had one three year old with us. We probably should have left, but stayed and had one of those meals where you are constantly on edge. The three year old gave the cute dog a corner of his crust of bread and the waiter came out and went mental at us finishing by saying the owner was going to come out and tell us to never come back. The table next to us shifted uncomfortably and said 'that was a bit over the top'. All the staff from the kitchen came out to 'have a look' at our troublesome table. We had been there about 20 minutes, shovelled our food down and just wanted to get out as quickly as possible. The beauty of the gardens and the tasty food doesn't really make up for an unfriendly and anxious atmosphere. It is a shame as it is pretty and the food tasty, But after that experience, with or without kids I will never go back.

My friend and a delicious lunch here today but the staff were so rude. My 3 year old gave the restaurant dog a scrap of bread to which the waiter said we wouldn't be welcome back if the owner had caught us and if wed had some common sense we wouldn't have fed him. He walked away tutting and muttering under his breath. The table next to us said he completely over reacted and were just as shocked. We were most shocked by his attitude to us and it completely ruined a potentially lovely lunch.I doubt we'll be back and children didn't seem to be welcome at all!

Yummy fresh food, charming setting and friendly welcome. We stayed in a farm cottage five minutes stroll away and it was lovely to find this picturesque cafe nearby. The decor is so pretty and welcoming. Books are available to browse. Home made cake was delicious too. There were not too many seats in winter but on a warm day, there is plenty of outdoor seating.

We brought our elderly mother in law here for lunch. We enjoyed our lunch which was really well cooked and loved the setting in the gardens with all the birds around. The veg in the farm shop looked great too and loved the opera played in the shop. Only fault was that they ran out of pretty much everything on the menu, but think this was due to the fact that they had just re opened after the winter break and it was very busy. We will forgive them this and hope to return. They cooked our mother in law a mushroom omlette which wasn't on the menu which was good of them. Nice eco type setting with a wood burning oven and lots of gardening and cook books on the shelves, really good Massaman curry and the sourdough very good too. This place is far better than all the lousy pubs we have tried in this area.

Found this place after visiting Cogges Farm Christmas Fayre and oh my it must be our local best kept secret!A working farm with a farm shop selling fresh farm vegetables, local cheeses, stone baked bread etc. Bring a basket with you and stock up. Only open Fri, Sat and Sun. I thought the shop might also sell bags of flour, they don't as they buy in bulk, however, Dave didn't want me to be disappointed and sent me round to the baker who very kindly bagged me some flour for a small donation. Then wander through to the cafe and the glass house for a surprise. A mixed menu with some Japanese inspired food. We were in heaven. You can almost feel the fresh veggies working their magic in your tummy. Make a reservation if you want to be seated in the main cafe. We ate in the glasshouse which was actually quite lovely. We had a wood burner and the farm dog for company too! Beautiful and peaceful surroundings, a very relaxing place to be on a Sunday afternoon. I can't wait to go back!

A bit hard to find even with satnav, located at the back of an organic shop at the end of an light eco-industrial park and not a place one would expect to get extremely tasty food. Recommended by a very good friend who lives locally, we were incredibly surprised how good the food was. We both started with the absolutely delicious beans, mustard and smoked haddock soup. I had the Malaysian pork neck curry, which was as good as anything I have eaten in Malaysia. I tried my companion patè de campagne which was sensational, an explosion of flavours. All of course very fresh and organic. There was a good selection of puddings on display but we did not have any. The menu is not extensive and everything was in the region of £7, apart from the curry which was £10. The quality and value of the food was very very good.

Charming gastronomic oasis with a bountiful, proper foodies' shop. I ate squeakily-fresh fish, delicious fried new potatoes and agretti (looks and tastes a bit like samphire) grown on site, followed by a rhubarb custard tart. Husband had a Roman vegetable stew with pancetta and a meringue cake. All delicious, staff personable and efficient, and setting charming - a mish mash of reclaimed furniture with outlook onto a cottage-style garden. Reminiscent in ethos to River Cafe and Petersham Nurseries - top-notch ingredients coaxed into speaking for themselves - although less precious and expensive than either of those - mains were around £10. Booking advisable as it's very small. Ad hoc plant sales, too, like sweet peas and heritage tomatoes.

Biggest thing to compliment this place on is the customer service. I was very impressed with all members of staff serving on the 3 mornings I visited for a pastry and coffee breakfast whilst staying nearby. Friendly, efficient and I watched them acknowledge regulars by name. If I lived nearby this would definitely be my choice of place to go in Bicester. Coffee was very good. Had decaf flat whites, regular flat whites and a lovely piccolo coffee (slightly larger than a macchiato). Tasty range of pastries (I especially loved the raspberry croissant). Totally recommend you give it a try.
