Have always received 5⭐️ service. Waiting time is never too long either and always welcomed with a smile.

Really good fish and chips. If you want salad with a kebab it's a little "hit or miss" on quality and quantity. As for the pitta, definite thumbs-down. Following on from the owners comments below, I've been back: I only had fish and chips this time and can say that they were even better than before, among the best I've ever had. I will try the kebab and salad next time.

Best fish and chips we have had in a long while. Good sizes too. Friendly service and we love having this as our local.

Perfect chips every time! They used locally grown potatoes for fresh chips everyday and the portion sizes are massive! Prices are very reasonable for the portions provided, a regular portion of cheesy chips can feed 2, the sauce pots are decent size too! I always go for curry sauce which is perfect every time! The burgers they do are always amazing even after leaving them in the fridge overnight they still taste amazing! Kids menu options is great for my kid too, the cod bites are perfectly battered every time! Have even gotten here just after closing and got a free takeaway as it leftovers which I expected to pay for and got a nice surprise that it was a free meal as just leftovers but it was still perfectly cooked. Huge fridge full of different drinks. Never had a bad meal from here and ordered over a few dozen times, highly recommend!!!

Great service, very clean premises food always cooked fresh, and for me personally they have a great gluten free menu anybody that's a celiac I fully recommend woolwell fish bar best takeaway menu Iv seen in 32 years of being a celiac .

Haven't been here for about a year. Understand why now. Fish was overcooked with soggy batter so probably cooked some time ago. Chips were lukewarm & soggy. Paid £19.40. I can buy 3 course meal plus bottle of wine from Tesco for £12.00. No guesses where I'll be going next time.

Food good....kebab banging. A bit pricey.

Approximately 1 hr ago we collected our Telephone order, Medium cod, 2 Medium chips, Curry sauce and a chicken fillet burger with salad. It was absolutely beautiful. Tasty fish and Chicken Burger and the chips were really nice BUT the chips were very squashed together. Quite difficult to separate to dip into the curry sauce but apart from that they were lovely. Will definitely return in the near future.

Honestly absolute vile customer service from multiple immature girls, one of them being blonde and the other having ginger hair and glasses. Multiple times i've seen them act disrespectfully towards customers for no reason more than being pathetic, and still having jobs there? unbelievable. First hand perspective along side witnessing them act this way laughing, making ignorant comments, making vile faces and being the complete opposite of an image a place like this would want to be presented as. Honestly it's appalling that other workers have not picked up on this and this and you still keep these 2 girls staffed, completely ignoring the fact that multiple of their employees are immature and should not be working in a place like this. It's disgusting that you have workers who are treating individuals like this and overall embarrassing!!!! sort your staff out.

Absolutely dire ! Spent nearly £20 on Mon. When we got food home the chips were an absolute joke. Just a pile of burnt/overcooked bits and pieces. Can't even be bothered to go and complain as no notice is taken. This is not the first time it's happened either, so won't be returning again.

Order in complete for the 3rd time and wrong items also. Some food cold and I couldn't be bothered to go back this time and won't be returning.

For quite a few Fridays we've been having a take away there has always been some sort of problem either the fish sizes or the chips, this week they have excelled themselves I saw they had some trouble separating the chips in the warmer bin they were dreadfully 10 % of them were under 2 inches the rest were tiny pieces that in the old days we called crackling and the small piece of fish was small very small it was just 6 inches long, I measured it and for nearly £7 it was a rip off, and I was overcharged nearly £2 which I got back. They seem to be proud of their own grown potatoes but I suggest they get another supplier. It's a pity because they are two minutes from us now we've got to go all the way to Crown Hill.

Very expensive and mediocre quality food.

I live in woolwell and the chip shop is always busy which mean long waiting times and cold food! Small portions and the chips have slowly got more bruised and poor quality. Dont waste ur money!

Great food and good selection of different choices.

Paid for large cod got a medium at best with soggy batter. Horrible almost cold chips to accompany it. Do not go here. Awful.

Went to this chip shop fish and sausage was fine but the chip were hard and dry very very poor won't be going here again

Disappointing meal, cheeseburger with barely any cheese, maybe a teaspoon full, cold, and undercooked in the middle, still pink. Sadly will not use again. If you look at the photo you can see blood oozing from the top which is great if I was having steak, but hazardous for a burger unless you have just minced the meat yourself , maybe check FSA food hygiene for guidance on cooking of burgers. Could make someone seriously unwell with this poor quality cooking. Half filled curry pots fill to the top for that price.. I also asked if they can put curry Sauce all over my chips instead like I do every chipy I’ve ever been to but apparently have to be sold by the pot

I was close by doing a delivery came from stoke on trent Had small Cod and Chips for much needed evening meal was nice but fish was not hot but I enjoyed it thanks

Tonight was the first time I've bought fish and chips from yourselves. I was so impressed with the quick and efficient service. The fish and chips were delicious and fresh, and I'll definitely be back again. 😋

Decent fish and chips, nothing special, but pricey for a suburban chip bar.

Since change in management this is very hit and miss. More often than not it’s a miss with dry, hard chips - over half were too hard & thin to pick up with a fork, and the fish was tiny & over cooked. A long wait despite there being only 2 customers before me. They have the monopoly in Woolwell and this is probably why they get away with small portions & “off cut” chips. Up your game!!

Went up the other night for the first time in ages as we heard ok things about it. We always use the chippy just round the corner from us as they are very nice but we thought we would give this one a try. Ordered small cheesy chips for my daughter and got home to realise they hadn’t even put cheese on them. She was devasted. Hmm annoying but No big deal luckily we had some cheese in the fridge. We Went up again tonite and ordered large cheesy chips and large fish and chips. Got home and guess what, no cheese AGAIN! How difficult is it to remember to stick cheese on some chips!??? The fish was very over priced and nothing special eaither. I Think we will stick to our normal chippy now thankyou as they remember to add Cheese to there chips after we had actually paid extra for it in the first place.

The fish and chips were very nice and ill use this place again its under new management so to early to fully mark them up only been in situ for 2 weeks

Having been here previously when former owners had it and the food wasn’t very good, we have just been back after being told to by the in laws how good it was the other night. Beautifully light battered fish and deliciously crispy chips! Very tasty indeed. We will be back on a regular basis !

Just had some chips thought I would try this place out as I was in the area there was a very welcoming and nice young lady serving would definitely recommend and return will try more then just some chips next time

Very dry chips like rubber I think they were warmed up last night nearly broke my teeth trying to eat them . I would of gone back to complain about this but unfortunately unable to walk to the shop again.

Much better than last time we went. We will be back really good food.pne small problem the batter on my fish was not fully cooked maybe cook slower on a reduced heat may overcome this. Will still dine here no worries.

Fish chip was massive portion very nice fish which was cod

Fairly tasty but overpriced. If this is a medium-sized cod for £8.25 how tiny is the small one? This one wasn't even 160 grams, and wasn't larger than my female palm (size XS). This is priced at twice the amount compared to other fish bars. At least the customer service was nice.

I had small cod and chips and my other half had battered sausage, chips and curry sauce.. It's our first time coming here and we was impressed with the food, I would even rank it the best tasty chippy I have had this year (my new go to favourite). The portion size was a good size we was full yet didn't eat it all, the fish n sausages was not full of fat or grease it was lovely. The lady that served was professional and friendly on serving although we felt a bit rushed to make a choice from menu as she stood at the till watching us waiting to make a choice but that's not a drama. There was 2 couples waiting on their orders so there was a bit of a wait for our food but not too long.

Really wanted to like the food. One occasion only one person there doing every job frying, serving, waited 30 mins for a portion of chips and the chips were horrible. Had a portion of fish £5.25 it was really small did not even look like a piece of fish. Such a shame as it used to be a good fish and chip shop.

Delicious fish and chips, well cooked. The queue was long when I came with over a 30 minute wait, but I guess that's the sign of a successful business. There were three lafies st the counter and lits of orople workibg hard inside. The cod bites were disappointing- they were tiny and poor value compared to other places I have ordered similar. Overall though a great place to go.

I've been in twice the past week or so and am generally pleased with the service. The woman behind the bar is friendly and welcoming and the food is prepared reasonably quickly. That said, the chips were inconsistent, but also soggy each time, the 2 oz burger was burnt, which is weird considering how thin they are and the battered sausage was maybe a bit too dry. That said, I did think the sausage deserved a good 7/10 to be fair. The burnt burger and kind of 'meh' chips brings this down to a 2 overall for me.

Sadly the worst chippy takeaway I’ve had. Ordered a kebab, got home to find no pita just the meat! Asked for mild sauce and it was definitely not mild which was all over my meat and chips so all ruined with VERY spicey sauce. Also ordered 2 burgers and they were both very dry and over cooked. Will not be returning again.

I believe this is new owners, but if tonights fish and chips are anything to go by, then they have no fears for the future. Fabulous fish and chips.

Not by a long way the best fish and chips I've ever had. Chips were clearly not fresh what there was of them. Fish was ok batter bit greasy but awful. And the curry sauce which was so thick I could of used as wallpaper paste can't see me rushing back since I could forgive a bit if they were busy but it was empty.

Much improved from previous owners I had some poor experiences at this place under previous management but I decided to try again as ownership has changed. The place has been renovated to a good standard, they now accept card payments, service was fast and friendly, and all of the food we ordered was very good. I will definitely eat from here again!

Was excited about new management, sceptical about fish and chips and kebab being served together but the kebab was lovely although the fish and chips was not great. The batter was white as anything and undercooked on the fish and chips,no salt and vinegar as requested and the curry sauce was tasteless and water thin which was a shame as a first try, probably wont get again

All in beef dripping, why, nothing suitable for vegetarian, high in saturated fats . Non vegan chips in a time when most chippies cook vegan in one fryer and fish and meat in another . Couldn't see cooked in beef dripping until I read the menue I took home . Won't go back Staff nice friendly and efficient.

We must of missed the announcement ' Under new Management'. Superb quality fish and chips, the batter was the best ever, light crispy, not swimming in oil. Chips were perfect. Fabulous, is what I would call the staff, friendly so polite (we messed up our collection time, as train was delayed), nothing was too much trouble.

Great chips and jumbo sausage on my visit. Business seemed busy and the chip were of high quality. Plenty of parking and reasonable prices. Local delivery is available.

Decent chips and served immediately. Did not have to wait long for my order. Cash only so bought something first in the convenience store close by.

I’ve just got a large fish and chips and it was tasteless and over cooked. Don’t for one minute believe the bland fish I was give was Cod. The worst I’ve ever had over the past 4 years of using the Fish & Chip shop. I think the ownership may have changed hands but either way I will not be going back🤬

Lots of black eyes/bad bits on the chips. Chips not great. Fish was very good and batter lovely. Fish cooked to order and the wait was worthwhile.

Usually have woolwell deliver, but for some reason it only said pick up tonight as I pre booked at 3ish. So ended up ordering through just eat, yes they came on time but the chips n middle of fish were cold. Very disappointed customer

Curry sauce £1.40 x2 and water is thicker! Same as before but left it about 6 months and forgot that was why we stopped going there.

waited 30 minutes for the order, collected from the shop who gave my the wrong order(there were only 2 people whose orders they were dealing with in the shop at the time, hardly rocket science!), didn’t realise this until I got home as it came in same number of boxes expected. Called straightaway to tell them, asked for a partial refund, they refused, blamed it on me for collecting the wrong order! We ate what we had which was cold, disgusting and greasy. Wouldn’t bother again sorry

Put in a late order over the phone, fantastic service and quality food as always.......great staff, and this shop is 7 miles away from me.

Waited 30 minutes for 4 bags of chips. Absolute joke. Watched as the bloke left the chips sat on top of the fryer going cold whilst he ran around like a headless chicken. Don’t waste your time and money

Just waited an hour and a half for fish and chips to be delivered ,and the chips are so cold ,and the fish is on the top ,phoned and told them ,asked what I wanted to do ,having someone to pick this up ,and deliver some hot ,now the waiting again

The food really has gone downhill. Especially since certain members of staff have left. Awful customer service. I complained and was then blocked on their Facebook page. Clearly can’t handle criticism.

Ordered food which turned up late. In addition, the food turned up cold, to finally deliver this was really an insult to say the least. On taking the food back to the shop, the counters and food preparation area were unclean, the girl serving never even cracked a smile. This is our local fish and chip shop, I will never order from here again and recommend that anyone who reads this doesn't either.

Terrible takeaway with even worse customer service. Maybe they used to be good, but not anymore. I can't even comment on the quality of the food as it didn't ever arrive! Now I have to work out how to stop my payment from going through

Awful service twice, we gave you a chance and you let us down. Waited over an hour for delivery despite calling in fact the first time we ended up collecting it ourselves and when the food eventually arrived the chips were all scrap ends and the food was cold. We won't be giving you a third chance, service really needs improving.

Pre ordered food for arrival at 18:15, no communication saying it's going to be late, arrived 50 minutes late only to be Luke warm. No apology for it being late, only good thing was the portion sizes were good.

Had a lovely scampi and chips meal from this place , helpful and friendly staff too.

Shame there is no option for zero stars. Absolutely disgusted with our food tonight! Late delivery, when food turnt up it was Cold, order was incorrect and it tasted like it had been made this morning and had been sat there all day. but funnily enough shop had closed so no one to answer phone for me to make a complaint. Waste of money and time waiting. Will not be ordering again.

Having just moved into the area, we thoroughly enjoyed our 1st experience of this place. Best cod, chips & pea fritter in a long time! Generous portions, cooked to perfection. I paid online & collected, really good that your order is not packed & wrapped on the side waiting for you...it was packaged on collection & consequently no soggy chips etc. Good COVID-19 system. Will definitely be going back! Recommended. 👍

Food was ok, the chips were loads of little bits not many full size chips. Delivery was late. Portion sizes were good though.

Never had a problem with the food before but arrived the fish was overcook and really dry batter to crack your teeth on and the chips along with the fish wasn’t very warm, if I could of I wouldn’t of given any stars. Very disappointed
