Best pub garden in Salcombe but if the weathers not good then inside it’s cosy and traditional. Have never found the staff anything but friendly and polite and especially Steve the manager who never seems to stop and yet still has time for a chat. There can be a wait for food when it’s busy but you’re in Salcombe so just chill and who cares when the view is this good!

Appalling experience, particularly the attitude of Steve the manager. I wrote to the owner but have received no response hence the following: We sat in the garden area and placed the order (cold sandwich, plain garlic bread, pint of Guiness, bottle of San Miguel zero) at the bar inside and paid with a debit card. There seemed to be a lack of organisation and I wasn't impressed with the manner in which the young staff were spoken to by Steve. Following almost an hour's wait I asked when we could expect our food. Two couples who arrived after us were already eating their proper meals. After asking twice I was told our orders would be "next out". The food eventually arrived delivered by Steve who told us it was “complimentary as the payment hadn’t been taken as the order hadn’t gone through”. He blamed it on the new member of staff (incorrectly indicating this is who had served me). The food was not the correct order and needed changing. Steve didn't want to listen when I told him we had been charged - I'd seen it on the screen. On Steve's return I again reiterated we had been charged - we'd checked our bank account on line so were due a refund if the food was supposed to be complimentary as Steve had said, due to the delay. Steve offhandedly replied “no, you’ve got your meals and you’ve made one of my staff cry and I’ve got to go and sort it out!” Before we left, we spoke to the member of staff who’d served me, she denied I'd made her cry. She told us Steve receives a lot of complaints. Overall, in our opinion Steve has no customer service skills, no interpersonal skills, he has an atrocious attitude, he was rude and he is no role model for the staff who seemed scared of him. Rather than admit a mistake had been made he tried to fob us off by blaming the new member of staff, pretending the food was complimentary and then didn’t want to know when we tried to correct him. In summary, the location of the pub is lovely, the food when it came was okay, the drinks are extortionate but Steve the manager lets it down. Avoid at all costs.

Great location overlooking the estuary. Beer served flat but that's the Devon way and it would have been a great pint with a sprinkler. I had scampi which was good but my wife veg curry was pretty poor. Like a poor version of a chip shop curry, lots of it but not very good at all.

Salcombe used to be a lovely place but the hospitality in the pub was awful staff totally uninterested, price for a pint £7.20. As for the toilets they were in a disgusting state looks as though they haven't been cleaned for a long time and need a total upgrade maybe the huge profits they make on drinks could pay for the upgrade.

First time we have eaten in the Ferry Inn. It's a perfect location and I am writing this review because the seabass with roasted vegetables and pureed parsnip ( the days specials maybe?) was just gorgeous ! Fish was perfect . The vegetables could maybe have done with a bit more time. But just lovely, sat in the sun watching the world and all the boats go by.

Great location, very busy but worth it!

The only thing this place has going for it is the location. The food and drink was the worst we had all week. I feel sorry for the young staff working there doing their best.

Have been coming here for over 40 years. The place has slowly been going down hill over the last few years. I popped in yesterday and the place was dead and it was mid regatta week. It might have had something to do with the terrible drink selection and the fact a pint of moretti and a very average glass pinot grigio blush cost £17.20! This is more expensive than london. Sadly won't be returning.

You come here to sit and admire the view and the comings and going in Salcombe Harbour. Modest selection of ales but perfectly servicable. Team friendly. Good quality pub food. Might be a wait at peak times.

The scenery and atmosphere of the beer garden are great, however it's worth noting that the drinks come with a premium price tag. The selection isn't very extensive and be prepared for higher-than-average costs! However, for those willing to splurge a little for an unforgettable setting, The Ferry Inn is an excellent choice.

If you want to pay over the top prices for really awful loud blaring pop to ruin the natural view and sounds of the harbour then I suggest going to this pub.

The most stunning location ruined by a music playlist made for people who've never heard music before. Bloody expensive, but this is Salcombe, home of of the rich and tasteless.

The ferry Inn never fails to disappoint when sitting in the beer garden on a sunny evening. However very quiet for August, so not the atmosphere I have experienced in prior visits

Great location, as expected Chelsea on sea beer prices £19.50 for two beers and a Pepsi. Hunters Chicken was extremely microwaved in a dish, spoiling what could have been a nice piece of chicken. Had I been a more choosy punter it would have gone back to the kitchen.

Had a lovely pint here whilst waiting for the ferry. The outside area was full as the sun was shining, and had a great atmosphere with everyone having a drink and relaxing. Perfect after a long day of shopping. The outside bar made it much easier to order too than having to go inside.

This pub has possibly the best location in Salcombe with an outdoor seating area right on the estuary with fantastic views. Why then do they ruin it with loud music and a very poor selection of drinks, particularly their wine selection. The whole place seemed poorly run and shabby…was glad to leave.

Great staff, super friendly and helpful. Lovely baguette and great pint, what more do you want.

It has a great view of the water and boats The food was amazing (we got the popcorn shrimp, garlic bread and chips) it was good and we enjoyed it but not really any exciting drinks

Giving a 3 star purely on location, right by the sea but very expensive and the Moretti was flat at £7.40. Pub was tatty and needed a good overhaul, maybe use the beer money to do this! Go up the road to Victoria Inn which has a huge garden and much cheaper prices.

Fabulous beer garden in a fabulous setting. It doesn't get much better than this in terms of location. Good selection of typical pub food. Not sure about the beer as I don't drink it, but plentiful choice.

The staff, specifically the manager were miserable and extremely rude. When asking for a high chair whilst we enjoy some food and drinks my partner and I were met with the response “no you are not allowed them out here” on further enquiry he said “because I said so”! And continued to start an argument because of his rude nature. I would not recommend this place if you have children, there are no high chairs, baby changing facilities or general kindness to help when support is required to help accommodate.

Lovely spot down up from the harbour. Food was nice. Dog friendly and kids welcome.

Delightful waterside Inn with a real buzz. Convivial visitors spill outside on sunny and not so sunny days. Great Doombar beer, food from a pub grub menu, and all in all, a thoroughly pleasant place to be. For goodness, don't visit the wonderful NT property, Greenways, former home of Agatha Christie without walking down the lane to the ferry, for a pint

Lovely pub to sit by the estuary on a nice sunny day and watch the coming and goings of the ferry and boats. Good staff, food and drinks. Bit overpriced but this is Salcombe!

We visited here in July 2023 and thought it was a gorgeous place for a bite to eat at lunchtime with a great view! I’d highly recommend if you’re ever in Salcombe!

We really enjoyed our lunch here! It felt like a little hidden gem - sitting by the window upstairs was so nice. (The downstairs atmosphere was a bit iffy, definitely needs a rejuvenating) In particular the food was exceptional, and for us the cost was worth it. We paid 17£ for lamb stew and 19£ for salmon. Perhaps a bit high, but for Salcombe it felt alright and the quality was excellent. Beer and cider offerings were good. Service was lovely and we appreciated that it was kid and dog friendly.

Just had a wonderful time here. A lovely warm welcome from the staff. Food was excellent. There was a great choice on the menu. Fish pie was delicious. Portion size was fantastic and the side salad beautifully fresh. Fish and chips also really generous in size and delicious. Great beers and gin, whisky of the week offers. Thursday night happened to be quiz night which was great fun and fabulously hosted and written by the manager. It was a really fun evening so if you are in Salcombe I would definitely visit.

Found this great pub today, so cosy on a cold, wet day. The staff were absolutely brilliant. So accommodating from finding us a suitable table, welcoming our children and our dog and keeping us topped up with drinks. The food was excellent, came in good time and was hot, fresh and beautifully home cooked. Thanks for a memorable end to our break in beautiful Salcombe.

We sat out side because we have a dog we were in the beer garden it was okay we had 2 pints of larger which was £14 which we thought was abit overpriced .

Had an amazing lunch today! Great vibes and a cosy atmosphere! The Christmas decorations were fantastic and the staff were all absolutely great and really helpful. Could spend all day in there sat by the fire! Definitely my favourite spot in Salcombe!

Focus here needs to be on customer service, young staff not trained , it’s just a seasonairre pub in terms of staff , always an issue with food and delays Ferry inn was excellent in the 90s and early 00s , solid management could bring this back.

I do believe that this place is an excellent place to visit, summer or winter. Lovely real fire and lovely food served by great, friendly staff/ owners. A shame I had the car as could have happily stayed all evening sampling all the beers! Very nice menu which was of good value and large portions

Fabulous location. Sat inside with marvelous views out of the window watching some activity in harbour of small boats on move. We only had drinks so cannot comment on the food. Excellent service from the young barman.

It was quiet when we visited but still had a good atmosphere. Cosy with a great view over the estuary.

Stopped for lunch. Sandwiches were lovely and a good local choice of drinks including a mulled Cider. Great views over the water. Was a little quiet but it was a Monday lunchtime in November. Would definitely go back. Dog friendly as well.

We just stopped by on Saturday evening and we so pleased that we did. The manager is a superstar and could not have made us more welcome. Excellent beer, great ambience - will definitely visit again and can't wait to try the Sunday lunch!!!

Popped in for lunch. Quiet Monday in November so it was easy to find a nice table with a view over the water. We just ordered Sandwiches but they were lovely and came with a great salad and crisps. There was also mulled Cider which was lovely. Would definitely come back

Lovely Sunday lunch for 10 people - they popped is in our own room and the service was great. The roast dinners are fab, huge portions and loads of trimmings!

What a find! Amazing friendly service, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely, good value pub grub - the weather was dreadful but the inside of the pub was cosy and warm. Be aware they stopped taking orders for food at 7:30 (it was Oct) and closed early!

Bag a table in the garden and enjoy a drink with the finest views of the creek and beaches . A few steps to negotiate from the roadway and drinks are not cheap.

We enjoyed two very generous open sandwiches (I couldn’t finish mine), a large glass of white wine and a pint of bitter for £32 whilst sitting on the sun soaked terrace watching the estuary busy with the ferry, boat trips and leisure boats. Perfect! I don’t understand the reviews suggesting this place is expensive. Frankly I would happily have paid more for such an outstanding location.

Visited on a lovely day only to find bar on level of outside seating closed so had to climb very steep steps to an empty bar to purchase drinks and then carry down said steep steps Why??? £8 for a lemonade and coke

I should know better than to come here again, but I forgot... Hugely overrated, £7 for a shocking pint of flat Kronenbourg, with just a shrug from the disinterested barman when mentioned. Yes it's waterside but the pub remains very shabby and untidy and seems quite indifferent to tourists

I love this pub and is one of my favourite in the UK. I have been coming to this pub for many years and the drink options are not the best offering in Salcombe these days. I would recommend putting Crabbies and Aperol Spritz back on the menu, and possibly a Hugo Spritz. Also, this year the music isn't very varied and only appears to be musical theatre. Although, I do not have an issue with musical theatre music I don't think the Ferry Inn is the place. Bring back pig racing!!!

Rude guy who I suppose was some kind of manager - unwelcoming to us We had one round of drinks and left Won’t return Also one toilet only - other out of order - for I presume a busy pub at other times than when we visited - and talking to someone in there it had been out of order for a long time - surely there are emergency plumbers in the area ?

Best view in Salcombe and staff were great. The volume of the music and the musical theatre playlist had a negative impact on the atmosphere. As someone that has been coming to this pub for over 20 years this is the poorest playlist I have experienced.

£17 for a glass of wine (£10) and a pint of lager (£7) . You’ve got to be kidding !! Everywhere else in Salcombe is around £13

Day visit ..lovely town. Ferry Inn.. quant lovely Inn. Very friendly staff. Nice atmosphere..unfortunately very busy outside. So had to eat Inn the pub. But was OK. Beautiful fish chips and peas...was so tasty. Hubby had a burger with chips and salad was very tasty...

Go in, go to the top bar and open the tiny door 💕 a fun pub close to the beach full of charm and a decent pint at a price appropriate for its location. Nice young cool staff and a fun vibe. Elderly beware of steep stairs and the slippy floors, but perfect place for a brandy and a chat

Great bar, fantastic staff, friendly welcoming atmosphere!! Visited several times during our break and would highly recommend.

Ordered starter and main (as they are described on menu). They came out all at the same time, when we asked why, the server said its because people like them all at the same time and we had to explicitly state a starter was to come first. He then threw our food on the table and walked off, the server with him apologised to us. Shame, as that was our first meal out on holiday. The rest of the meals out elsewhere were fantastic. I recommend the The Kings Arms.

Only come here for drinks and sit outside for the view if you can get a table as usually very busy. Food is ok, nothing special and drinks are expensive but have have a captive audience as the view from the garden is nice, if it wasn't for this I doubt I would come here

Just wanted to leave this review here as I had a EXCELLENT experience with one worker named Liv Devlin. She has a unique sense of humour but when you crack it she can be reasonably funny. A tad expensive for food and drink but I guess that’s what you get in salcombe !!! Will definately come back especially if Liv Devlin is working 😈

Expensive for cold hot chocolate

The pub is quaint in a fantastic location overlooking Salcombe Estuary. The food was disappointing after a wait when it wasn't that busy at the time of ordering. One of our choices was a pork burger, which had little taste and was a very small portion on a small plate but with a big price! I had chowder, which was nice, but the 2 slices of bread were dry and only had a miniscule amount of butter. I was told I'd have to pay for a bottle/jug of tap water on the table.

The location alongside the estuary is absolutely fabulous, however the prices are VERY high! This is most likely due to the location, however there a much more affordable alternatives in the Salcombe town!

Very busy in summer. The beer was expensive, just like it is everywhere in Salcombe.
