I had the chicken burger - what an indulgent delight! Ordering via the app and collection was so seamless. Staff were very friendly. If I’m ever on the area again this is top of my list for good fast food.

Over priced soggy chips and very sweet thick curry sauce . Fish was ok . Very disappointed as the reviews rated it so highly .

Visited twice on our recent stay in Bideford. Recommend the fish….light batter and plenty of fish….can’t comment on the chips as don’t like them but hubby said they were good. The buttermilk chicken also fabulous,,think they were made with thigh meat but lovely, tender inside and crispy outside.

Really really enjoyed the Fish and Chips 🍟. Everything was cooked fresh and tasted amazing. Nothing was greasy. Chips were lovely and the fish was so light and tasty. Would definitely recommend 👌

Family of 4 with fish and chips all around. The beans were a bit of a surprise for the children but it was throughly enjoyed by everyone.

Delicious fish & chips - my husband even said they were the best he had ever had! I loved the curry sauce too, very flavoursome. Efficient ordering service where you can select the time for collection when ordering online. There was a glitch on the website which meant we couldn't order chips but they had predicted we might want some so had them prepared and only charged us for 1 rather than 2 portions for the confusion. Thank you!

We don't live that far from Woolsery and enjoy a takeaway from here. Fish is excellent and staff are most helpful, pleasant and cheerful. Thank you

While I appreciate cod prices have gone up...£25 for 2 cod and chips that's way over priced!!! The quality was good but small £25!

This place had come highly recommended to us, so we did have high expectations and we were not disappointed. Food was lovely and a huge bonus that you can view the menu online and also order and choose a time for pick up. Highly recommend

We bought 4 Fish & Chips and 2 fried chicken on 24 June at a cost of ~£72. The chicken was good but the fish was particularly poor, small pieces of fish made to look large by lashings of batter. Also the chips were not 'crisp' as I would expect from a qualirt F&C shop but were soggy. Not worth the money

Probably one of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had- and we’ve had a few! Superb freshness and flavour, no rancid fat taste. More than ample portions, exemplary service. In a word -perfect!

10 of us ranging in age from 9 to 73 and 1 dog visited this restaurant Monday 30th May and could not have been treated any better. The staff were all so kind and pleasant and helpful. Then there was the food - absolutely delicious. Could not have asked for more.

Very tasty and very different menu at this fabulous fish and chip shop. The food is all locally sourced wherever possible, incredibly well cooked food which we can describe as gourmet. So good in fact we went on 2 consecutive evenings; the haddock and chips with minted peas on day one was sublime; and the lamb burger we had on our second visit was one of the most delicious burgers I have ever eaten. Served in a very good quality brioche bun, it was served with mint glaze and pickled cucumber yoghurt sauce (from memory) The chip shop is clean and there is nothing nasty with the food, it is beautifully presented and cocked to perfection.

The restaurant pub which this Fish & Chip shop is part of is truly excellent but though the fish was good (but not excellent) the chips were very disappointing.

Stopped here for a bag of chips earlier this week. Asked for a large portion of chips , got a cardboard BOX with a very small amount of poor quality , almost cold chips. Absolutely the worst portion of chips I've had anywhere in a very long time.

Staying nearby on holiday, called into this take away for some supper, I appreciate the fish might be to some people's liking, but for me there was far too much batter used, the actual fish content was fairly minimal, the chips were OK but a bit greasy. Poor value for £6.45 I thought. On the positive side, they were well packaged in a strong carton, and it's nice to see a small business trading in a small village such as Woolsery. Interesting background story to the business which you can read by Googling......

This was the worst chip shop takeaway meal we have ever had.

We went on Friday 15th February 2019 and ordered fish and chips ( one size only ) sausages and battered sausages.

We have eaten here on half a dozen occasions since its new ownership.

Nice local fish and chips, was even better when they did the whole breast chicken burger, but for some reason they stopped doing it, was excellent value and very tasty.

Unbelievably good fish and chip restaurant. Quality of the highest order with an interesting twist on some of the flavours. Chips are amazing. Please try the whole menu. Delicious delicious delicious.

Lovely fish and chips! You can tell that quality ingredients are used and I believe all the ingredients are also local. You do have to wait a little while for the food to be cooked, but it is worth it. We’ve given it a 4 rating just because we didn’t like the curry sauce, it was very bizarre!

This is the first time we have spent time in this area. One of the recommendations was to visit Woolsery Fish and Chips. We were going to treat ourselves on our last day here, however having drove a round trip of 12 miles, we were disappointed to find it closed. I have never know a chip shop to close on a Friday evening.

On holiday on a local farm, three generations of us, the weather was very kind so we mostly BBQ or if we had been out on along day then this place hit the spot twice. The selection was varied, best fish n chips I've ever had, fresh fish! Fried chicken was good.

The slow roasted brisket sandwich is absolutely delicious! Try it with their home made coleslaw. Grilled haddock is also one of my favourites.

I Ordered cod and chips and sausage for my partner. I asked if they would keep the sausage separate from the fish as my partner has a fish allergy.

Having seen some decent reviews thought I'd give it a try. Well presented fish & chip shop. Cod was good......minted peas ok.......chips awful.....they rattled in the box , were warm & consisted of small dry crunchy chips. Disappointing after the time it takes to recieve your order!

It was a nice size portion although quite expensive for fish n chips...the tartare sauce didn't taste of anything...I wouldn't rush here again..it was ok but I've had alot better

We found this wonderful place about six weeks ago and just love the place (excuse the pun) they cook your fish to order and it’s alway fresh on the day, the batter is so crisp and dry you should try some of the daily specials to, they also make a great beetroot ketchup 10/10 well worth a trip out.

Hidden Gem , Me & Wife both had Fish & Chips which tasted lovely , the plain and battered sausages were full of flavour , the Chicken had a Home made flavouring which was unique and very tasty and the Curry Suace and tartar sauce were both home made and delicious . Very Clean , Staff were very polite and we'll presented . Would Definitely Visit Again !!!

We stumbled across such a small treasure of a fish and chip shop. We absolutely enjoyed them. They were the best we've tasted in a very long time. Great staff and great service. We would highly recommend.

Never had a bad experience yet.Very clean.Lovely, helpfull staff.Interesting menus.One day I tried Tempura Baby Octopus,plus Squid, and homemade Aioli,few days later Buttermik Chicken Breasts,and homemade Coleslaw,also tried the pulled pork,gorgeous!Fab-u-Lous!My friend had one of the veggie options-Beetroot Pattie with Fennel,in a homemade flat garlic scone,that to was very nice,and have also had the flat mushroom with blue cheese in a bun.Last year I tried a few tempura soft shell crabs,very good,but check to see if you have to order first,and of course they serve fish and chips,and different types of fish. It is a very small shop,but you can order by phone,especially useful for large groups.

Chanced upon a review of this place and decided to make the trip, having checked first that they were indeed open at lunchtime (Tuesday to Saturday 12.00 - 14.00). In the absence of a gluten free option (often not up to much anyway!), I had the hake fillet grilled with butter and herbs, my husband had the slow-roasted brisket sandwich (with all of the trimmings), and we shared a portion of hand-made skin-on chips. Eating it sitting on a bench next to the churchyard, it made for a heavenly lunch. I cannot fault the food for any reason - and the curry sauce is like no other chip shop equivalent I have ever tasted.

Lovely fish and chips! Definitely recommend visiting! I chose to have coleslaw as a side dish and it was really really good, you could tell it was homemade rather than mass bought! The fish was great and the portion sizes were fantastic for the price.

15 of us ordered dinner, it turned up all hot and fresh, the best scampi I have had from a ship shop, perfectly cooked and batter was light and crisp. Everyone had something different. Highly recommend this Fish and chip shop as a dinner treat one evening.

This served the best fish and chips we've ever had. All of the food was cooked fresh to order, no old/reheated chips here. We even talked about how rubbish most chip shops are around our way - perhaps there is a gap in the market for a posh chip shop in other towns around the UK!

Woolsery is a really small village but a visit to the fish and chip shop is essential - and costcutter nearby!

We were staying in Woolsery so visited twice in the week. First evening was a selection of Fish, Chips, 3 burgers, a sausage and two sides, which came to approx £33.00 for five of us. It is on the expensive side, but the quality and taste of the food makes up for it, and we were on holiday. Enjoyed it so much, that on on our last night we visited again, and had the Crab Special for one of our sons, who said it was delicious. Check on Facebook before you visit as they upload their daily specials. Definately worth a visit if in the area, and a very clean shop with friendly staff.

Popped into woolsery to pick up some chips on the way home, was unaware the fish and chip shop had been re-developed inside it’s immaculate and very modern. The food once delivered was high quality and tasty. However, due to it being freshly cooked the waiting time was very long so wasn’t ‘fast food’ as you may expect for fish and chips also is slightly more pricey than other shops but due to it being freshly cooked this is understandable, overall very nice food but for a local like me there is no need for fancy branding would prefer quick food!

We ordered 2 large cod, 2 sausages, 1 fish cake and a child’s fish & chips. The food was lovely and the shop was welcoming. Would definitely recommend this shop.

We were staying at an owners direct holiday cottage a few miles away and found the fish and chip shop on trip advise so decided to see if it was as good as the reports on trip adviser.

We're local so we visit often! They always have great specials on offer. The fish is always fresh and tasty. The chips are sometimes the best chips you've ever had sometimes they're just average, still nice though. It's not the cheapest chippy in the world but the standard of food is so much better that it's worth it. The staff are really friendly despite being constantly busy! Highly recommended!

We stayed down in Bude for a few nights at the end of October and decided one night we had to have Fish and Chips. Rather than pop into a local place i took to Trip Advisor and despite this one being a little further out and in a tiny village down small lanes, it was easily the best choice based on the reviews.

We were staying in woolsery and were aware from previous visitors to the cottage that the fish and chip shop was meant to be great so we thought we would give it a try and we were not disappointed. We visited here twice while on holiday and both times the food was lovely. Definitely recommend a visit. There's quite a choice on the menu and the staff are very pleasant. It can get quite busy and the food is cooked to order so be prepared to wait

Staying nearby at a farm we had passed this Fish & Chip shop on several occasions , so our Friday night treat was lovely. Plenty to choose from and for a change I picked the 'Special Spanish omelette with salad ' and my husband had Cod & chips. The tartar sauce was home made and delicious. The staff were very friendly and a quick & prompt service.

Woolsery chip shop is a little gem an amazing array of food available for take out from decent fish and chips in there special batter to curries and Mexican street style food. Always good quality ingredients and always fresh, staff are very help and polite and it's a pleasure to visit.

We were staying in Hartland and found this to be the nearest chip shop. We had freshly prepared cod and chips while we waited, with home made minted peas and home made curry sauce.

Remembering when this "take away" will be open isn't too easy, but there are few such shops that will grill a piece of delicious haddock or cod for you and moreover, grill it perfectly.

Myself, partner and 3 children were staying at a holiday park near by. After spending the day at a local attraction we decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway. Woolsery fish and chip shop came up as the nearest one, Google maps did not lead us to the exact destination but with a few u turns we found it. Considering it is a small shop in a small village the variety of foods available is impressive. We ordered 3 children's meals with beans two portions of cod and chips and two pots of tartare sauce. The beans were something none of us had tasted before or even thought of making mixed beans with a bbq sauce the tartare sauce was delicious. You could tell everything had been home made, the staff were very friendly made conversation which wasn't forced or the awkward kind you have whilst your trying out a new hairdresser. The shop looked very clean, very well laid out considering the size. It's probably a good job we live 2 hours away else we would be here every week! Will definitely be returning when we are on our next break.

We were looking forward to visiting Woolsery Fish & Chips as we had been following their Facebook page and were impressed by the fresh, changing menu. However when we called in at half term we were really disappointed to find that the chips weren't cooked - they were hard in the middle . We were self catering nearby so had spent around £25 on dinner for the four of us and whilst the specialty burgers were nice it really wasn't worth it. I hope this was just a one-off but a chippie that can't cook chips really is a bit of a waste of time.

Best chicken burger ever! Beef burger not far behind it. Worth paying a slight premium over lesser quality takeaway offerings. Regular interesting specials changing every week. A real asset to the village. Always chatty and friendly.

Whilst staying in Hartland we were looking for a local chippy. The 10 minute drive to Woolsery was certainly worth it.

I real gem of a place in the village of woolsery. We visted on the first night of are holiday and were very impressed with what they are trying to do. Its not your average chippie with bottles of wine in the fridge and a specials board. We didnt get a chance to go again as when we arrived it was closed for an electric problem. Would definitely return in the future.
