Here for Sunday lunch with friends who visited. Food was good, staff friendly. But be warned your table is only yours for 90 minutes!! Very shortly after eating our meal we were reminded the table was needed and asked to leave. We quickly finished our wine as the pub was packed so didn't allow us to move elsewhere. I appreciate hospitality is suffering at the moment but not sure we will be back due to this restriction.

My husband and I came for the first time on an evening due to the excellent TripAdvisor reviews. We were not disappointed, the food was traditional pub grub mainly, however we had the lamb shank and garlic chicken with an extra portion of chunky chips to share. Everything was DELICIOUS, so filling we were too full for a dessert but the ones we saw coming out looked huge, homemade and beautiful ( maybe next time)?. The lady serving us was super friendly, attentive and kind. She did acknowledge the VERY unruly table that was in the lounge, 3 naughty children, too old to be climbing on furniture and shouting their lungs out, sadly a reflection of some parents today who did not correct their appalling manners ( too busy on their phones) the staff apologised on their behalf, it must be hard to deal with such families!. Anyway we got unlucky where we were sat but this will not put me of dining again as the food was excellent. So thank you Woolpack you deserve the high praise 😀

Great food at this pub with a fair selection of real ales. They had just introduced a Special Offer when we were there which was excellent. All vegetables and desserts are home prepared instead of being bought in readymade and stuffed with preservatives like many pubs - what a difference that makes to the flavours! Chatted with another customer at the bar when we arrived: he also recommended the food ... and was absolutely right.

Why oh why have we not stumbled upon this little gem before. Had a lovely walk along the canal close by before heading here for lunch. Both myself and my partner has the smoked haddock, eggs and bacon and quite honestly it was one of the best pieces of haddock we have had. That's coming from a Grimsby lass who's uncle was a trawler skipper for 30 years. The chef is excellent. The landlord and waitress were lovely. Driving over for another taste next week.

We were on holiday in Louth for the second time so made sure we returned to this great food pub. It looks pretty unremarkable from outside although it does have an impressive beer garden. The staff are friendly, the locals even more so especially the big table for dog lovers. The food is super, this time we only managed to visit twice in the week, Grimsby fresh haddock and chips is an absolute must! As is the smoked haddock and poached eggs on a bed of mashed potato. Hubby had a mixed grill with very generous portions. The landlord is a lovely Irish chap who typically Irish feeds you well. Try not to eat breakfast and have a wee cracker or a biscuit for lunch. Or take a doggie bag. My own dog had a fish supper from my leftovers.

So glad we we boked a table for Sunday Lunch otherwide we'd have missed out. Even though it was 2.30pm the place was packed. The food was amazing. I had roast lamb. The mash and roast poatoes were already on the plate with plenty of vegetables and gravy to share with our table. Lovely chilled atmosphere with lots of chatter, glass clinking, no blaring music, TV or fruit machines (that we could see). Service was amazing, the girls were so polite and made sure that we had everything we needed. We brought 4 friends for the first time who couldn't fault it. Thanks for a really lovely afternoon, we will most certainly be back!

What a quaint little pub in Louth, We arrived just after it had opened for Breakfast, the staff was excellent and very friendly. The food is well priced for what we had. I had the full english breakfast and the wife had the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. I found the full english was just the right size in portion but could do with a few more mushrooms. The wife did not think the same to the pancakes, she said that they were dry and did not taste fresh but she did say that the Bacon was the best she has had with any pancakes oh and she also said that more Maple syrup would be helpful Due to the issue with the pancakes we could only give 4 stars

What an excellent experience. Me and my partner came for a romantic meal. We had a lovely corner table and drinks served by an attentive bar man. Starters came promptly with the correct cutlery. The mains were suitably portioned and the bar man checked that the food was to the right standard- which it absolutely was. What really made the meal was the malt vinegar. Just that extra special touch! Definitely will come again as we are local and visit all the time.

After calling in advance to book a table we arrived to them clearly not booking our table as asked, and then seated us in a dingy corner very close to other people so conversations where heard very clearly by all. We ordered a starter and main each. Well generally when someone orders soup you get a spoon on the plate after the soup was placed at the table the I am guessing bar manager went oh I need to go get a spoon! Obviously… The starters cleared away without a word being said to us. At this point my partner went outside for a cigarette being promptly followed by said manager who watched and waited till he came back in. WHY??? The mains came and were nothing to write home about which is a shame because every other time we have been the food and service has always been excellent. It is very clearly a regulars only matter to us place even though we have been a fair few times. I say this because all the tables round us got several check backs. We didn’t get a single one until the end of our meal when the owner who had spoken to other tables next to us decided to check if everything was ok! Bit late don’t you think. My partner advised that one of the condiments wasn’t right and said seemed to be watered down vinegar. The owner then advised that he would take it to the kitchen to be checked?? He then came back and took the top of shoving this bottle under my partners nose saying smell it! Apparently malt vinegar isn’t as strong as white vinegar, why would we put white vinegar on our food when you provide malt vinegar anyway?? Needless to say unless you go all the time you’re made to feel unwelcome. There was only one member of staff that actually acknowledged us being a young man behind the bar I understand to be called Alex who was very friendly and chatty to the regulars. Again regulars. Not everyone can afford to go out all the time so when we do it’s a special treat for us. Wish we hadn’t bothered!

We booked a table here in advance. We specified very clearly that we were bringing 3 dogs with us and asked for a table in the dog friendly part. Food was very nice, and the service was good too. The staff were very friendly. I do however think that there are improvements that could be made to make them more welcoming for people with dogs. We would have liked the option of a water bowl for our dogs. I also found that some of the other people there resented our dogs being there. One person suggested that I should “give my dog a kick in the teeth as that might shut them up”. I don’t think any of the staff heard that comment and I never mentioned it as I didn’t want to cause problems for the staff. Maybe they should warn people that where they are about to be seated is near dogs, or perhaps have a section for people with dogs. We did enjoy the food here but I don’t think we will be coming back, I think we will find somewhere that is better for dogs next time.

With only a short wait before our meals arrived, although a tad on the pricey side, we found them both to be excellent quality and well worth that little extra expense. Well worth a visit. We will return if we're in the vicinity.

Dined here before going to the theatre. Absolute hidden gem! Great selection of ales to keep the hubby happy. Food was outstanding. Huge portions - none of us could eat it all and we love our food! We had a Stonebaked pizza, mixed grill and smoked haddock dish. All cooked to perfection, so tasty and piping hot. Delicious. Staff take pride in what they are serving and checked with us 3 times that we were happy with our meal. Lovely atmosphere Look forward to returning soon. Wish all Restaurants were like this one!

We visited this very nice pub twice whilst staying in Louth, the first time we just had a beer and a glass of wine, the second time we met friends for lunch, the food was outstanding and lots of it. The staff are very friendly and we would definitely visit again.

My wife and I have been to the Woolpack on many occasions and up until the last couple of visits we have always rated the food and service very highly. Unfortunately on the last couple of occasions both the service and the food quality have not been up to the standard we normally get. The first instance was early July when we went mid-week in the afternoon so nor busy by any stretch of the imagination. Yet the service was poor, we ordered 4 basket meals and only 3 arrived and when I asked where the 4th meal was I just got a blank look from the young waitress. Eventually they realised their error and rushed through a pannini which arrived burnt and also not with the filling we had ordered. The next occasion was August when my wife went out with some if her work colleagues and the same thing happened again. So after that we were reluctant to carry on going, however we succumbed and went a 3rd time in early September. We booked a 6.30 table and arrived at 6.15 ordered drinks then took a few minutes to choose our meals. On returning to the bar to order I was then informed that they weren't taking orders for food. After pointing out that we had specifically booked a table to eat the waitress relented and accepted our order. Disappointingly it took nearly 45 minutes to arrive, no sign of an apology for the delay we both had the Woolpack Burger which arrived on burnt, dry buns. After persevering for a bit we both gave in and left a large amount of uneaten bun and burger. When I went to pay I was asked if everything had been OK, to which I said unfortunately it was not. In fairness to the waitress she did apologise but there was not a great deal of sincerity and no offer of a reduction on the bill. So all in all not a very food performance and needless to say we will not be visiting again.

I have visited for many years and as a local person I have to say that for me the Woolpack is as good as it gets in Louth at the moment. The staff and landlord are very friendly. Keep up the good work.

A hidden gem of a traditional pub off the beaten track in Louth's canal district. Great selection of local ales from Batemans, fabulous food, and sparkling hospitality. Well worth the visit, we loved this beautiful, friendly little pub.

I have some very bad news for you!! I knew that the Trop will be imploded on October 9, 2024 at 2:30 AM, very early in the morning. I heard that the implosion date changed twice, initially it was October 2 at 2 AM, then changed to October 8, also at 2 AM. Then it changed once again to the final date! Prior to the implosion, there will be fireworks and a drone show. On April 2, 2024 (right after April Fools' Day), the Trop closes its doors for good (not an April Fools joke) at noon, 2 days before its 67th anniversary. I know the Trop was a 67 year old hotel. The Trop is the third oldest casino on the Strip and also one of the few remaining casinos during the city's mob era. The Trop is my favorite hotel. Before the implosion, the demo crew took about 5 months to dismantle the hotel, leaving the towers' frames behind for implosion. The reason why the Trop is getting demolished because they wanted to build a new $1.5 billion Major League Baseball stadium that will be the new home of the Oakland Athletics. Construction of the stadium will begin sometime in April 2025, one year later after closure and it will be completed by sometime in 2028, just in time for the 2028 season. Before the construction, you will just see an empty lot where the Trop used to stand. If you like the Trop like me, you will think something is missing, "Hey, where did the Trop go? This doesn't feel right at all!" I have also heard that a new Bally's will be built along with the stadium. Why do they wanted to build another stadium, at this location by destroying the Trop, just why out of anything. They should build that stadium in an empty lot or something instead of destroying the Trop. We stayed at the Trop for 2 nights, right after Christmas Day in 2022, not knowing the hotel will get demolished 2 years later. Before we went to Vegas, we stayed in Los Angeles for 2 nights. We left LA at 11 AM, making our way to Vegas. It supposed to take about 4 hours to drive to Vegas from LA, but there was a very bad traffic jam, lasting into the night time. We got stuck in traffic for many many hours, before getting to Vegas. We even tried to bypass the traffic by exiting random roads and finding our way back to the freeway. At 11 PM, late at night, we have arrived in Vegas, checking in to the Trop very late! Our parking spot every time was in front of the bungalows. The doors that leads right into the bungalows are key carded, so we had entered through the front entrance the first night and check in. We stayed in the winter, so that the pool is closed. It was very sad that we did not experience the pool area at all, that this was our only time visiting and staying at the Trop. We are very lucky that we picked the Trop as the hotel we would stayed at. I am very sorry to see the Trop go! Farewell, Tropicana! I will miss you a lot!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I just wanted to see what they are building in the land where the Trop stood in the years coming! I really wanted to know!

The Barge is located right in the centre of Grimsby, if you are here drinking then it's a must visit place. The barge itself was being painted when we got there which will end up looking good and giving it a nice refresh. Inside is nice, good jukebox and nice service. Beer is on thr pricey side but worth it - there are a lot if dives in this town so you get what you pay for. Ample outdoor seating which was nice in the sun. Would recommend.
