First floor cafe with inside and outside balcony seating on offer with great wooded views of the golf course. Off the beaten track for some, but very popular with golfers and pre-match AFCB fans...so pick your moments. Quite good range of food and drink but heading towards the expensive.

Not what it used to be. Food and service is very average & overpriced.

I was looking for somewhere to have a small wake. Charlotte, Function Manager was fantastic. She was patient and helped me tremendously with planning the event. Room was beautifully 😍 laid out. The buffet was delicious and fresh. My Dad's elderly University friends must have got up at least three times for more. My daughter and her cousin couldn't have enough of the chocolate brownies. Thank you for all the lovely staff involved for making the occasion such a success

Very good atmosphere and service, cheap and good meals.

We have used the Woodpecker cafe for a variety of events, including a birthday party and most recently a wake. We were given a private area, which was sectioned off from the rest of the cafe. It was still open to the public, however we were no disturbed at all while we were there. The space was used really effectively to give us the privacy we required. We had food made for us and it was excellent. The food was well prepared and tasted good. There was more than enough for the guests and they had provided tea and coffee. There is a reasonably priced full service bar at the cafe too. Very impressed by the room, the service and the staff. Would highly recommend them for events.

We had our wedding reception at the Woodpecker Cafe and we had the most amazing day! Charlotte was amazing and very professional helping us plan the finer details of our day going through all options and answering all of our questions right to the very day where nothing was too much trouble. The chef made incredible food that was made with so much care as well as being tailored to our specific requests - it was so very delicious and expertly presented with everyone catered for. The whole team made us feel so special and nothing was too much trouble. The level of care and attention throughout the entire day was part of what made our day so very special. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again for any future events. We can’t thank you enough for making our day so special at a very reasonable price too! Just fabulous!

Food good. Portion size could be better on salad garnish. Good service. Not advisable to go there when they are doing an event as menu changes and often run out of basic ingredients like Chicken on this occassion.

Hard to judge atmosphere as most customers outside as a dry day. We noticed most of crockery etc was re cyclable . Good service .

The food was amazing and we received lots of comments too. Visited as usual cafe closed. Order a full English breakfast. food came promptly and it was nice apart from sausage which was OK. Could do with sourcing a better sausage as breakfast was let down by it.

Catering for a funeral reception today was very attentive without being intrusive. The food had been carefully prepared and presented, and the views over Queen's Park made for a very pleasant venue. It was an unexpected choice but one I'd gladly recommend.

Really friendly place to go for a light lunch, especially pre-match at afcb, with really good coffee and tasty food.

This is a lovely little cafe. Would have rated it higher but on of our number got the wrong order. Vegan food with bacon. Put right without any problem. Lovely staff Was cold when we went and in a modern building so not too much atmosphere. Will use again if I'm In Bournemouth

Park Cafes catered a wonderful Celebration of Life reception at our home. We were provided with a delicious variety of options that also met the dietary needs of vegetarian, vegan and lactose intolerant family members. The delightful staff set up the beautifully arranged buffet, and the young woman who came the following morning to pick up glasses and plates was friendly and efficient. I highly recommend them for any event and hope to enjoy their service again sometime.

We had a Wake there and everything was perfect. Well done to all the staff. One comment: it would be nice to have two flasks of water for the teas.

If you have an allergy or a child with an allergy please think twice before eating here. My daughter had her 5th birthday party here and we were required to fill out all of her allergies on a form, which we did. They were informed she carries an Epipen. My daughter ate her lunch and within minutes started to projectile vomit and her face began to swell. After administering antihistamine she slowly began to return to normal. One of the parents at the party told us there were pieces of cheese in the cling film box, the same cling film they wrap the kids allergy meals in - who have dairy allergies. We have been informed they are ‘investigating’ the incident. My daughters birthday was ruined and she is really upset that this happened to her. I would hate for anyone else to experience this or possibly worse.

We live just down the road and popped in for lunch. The young guy on the bar was absolutely charming and efficient. We ordered food and drinks but best of all I could get a Gluten free club sandwich!!! Not always easy to get GF so thank you . We have eaten here before but I think the menu is now better .

Really unimpressed by the lack of Dairy Free food/cakes/treats. We left as my little boy couldn't have anything and it wasn't fair we all had treats without him. (He's 4) The staff on the day were pretty unhelpful in regards to it also. Their lack of understanding of allergies worried me, suggesting he had a little bit of cake or we go elsewhere! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Nice place on the whole, especially for the golfers and pretty decent play park and neighbouring football field for any kids u might have with u. Bit expensive in the food and drink tbh and questionable attitude with one or two of the staff members

Well so much to say ,we had my daughter's wedding at this venue 17/06/2022 .The staff were spot on very attentive to all needs .Big shout out to Sue who worked her socks off to make sure everything was right for the big occasion,great asset to the company.Would definitely recommend this venue for a function.

Attended a wedding here and it was a lovely venue for a small reception, especially on a beautiful summer's evening where you can make the most of the balcony and the lawn. Staff were very friendly and helpful too

Idyllic and peaceful cafe, with a lovely terrace overlooking the park. They've boldly carried on during the dark days of the pandemic with a fantastic food cart round the back, serving the most addictive bacon sandwiches. Their divine hot chocolate is the thin, old school, cocoa sort your mom makes in a saucepan on the stove (it is indeed made in a large electric soup pan) and it's worth a special trip on its own. After relaxing in the unpretentious atmosphere, you can burn off the calories in verdant Queens Park or jump around on the adventure playground.

Super friendly staff, and a decent selection of drinks and food make for a peaceful park cafe. Idyllic during the pandemic and after. Proximity to the golf course makes it perfect for morning walks :)

Lovely place for a coffee...overlooking the first tee.

Brought a drink and an ice cream from here, the drinks are a bit overpriced especially the bottles and cans, so would advise that you take your own drinks, but very friendly.

Great local cafe bistro now they have a disabled lift.

Helpful and friendly staff. Adequate rather than extensive range of breakfast and main meal options, with extremely good alternatives for gluten-free or vegetarian requirements. Reasonably priced. Plenty of parking, and a particularly good children's play area, with picnic tables. The cafe itself has a large verandah, with good views over the golf course. There's also a function room that can be booked for children's parties or other events. The cafe is on the top floor, but there is a lift making it easier for those with mobility issues.

Lovely spot for a cuppa after playing with the children in the park nearby.

Very unassuming care/restaurant/bar sat in open land with its own free car park. Nice size children's play park just in front of the entrance. Amply big enough to keep little ones entertained. Easy access to ground floor with wheelchair sized lift and stairs to first floor. Very clean eating and sitting areas. Good quality varied menu and well cooked/prepared too. Very well stocked bar tended by lovely welcoming staff team. Clean facilities and well worth a stop. Will return for sure when back that way.

Nice little café situated upstairs in the golfclub. Breakfasts look nice although not actually tried one yet. Also licensed if alcohol is your thing

We arrived for a booked function 15 minutes late. The function room wasn't ready. There were insufficient canapés for the number of guests booked. The food, a bbq was finally served over an hour late

Quería un lugar para tomarme una taza de té y algo de comida después de un funeral. Llegamos con unas 5 motocicletas y encontramos un gran y bonito aparcamiento. El personal de la cafetería era muy acogedor y amable. Los tés y cafés eran buenos como los sándwiches. Me encantaron los brownies; )La cafetería está limpia y luminosa, con una veranda: si necesita un lugar para una parada agradable y la comida no busque más. Bien hecho personal por ser tan acogedor

Sad to report that since the downstairs closure & refurbishment the downstairs indoor seating is no longer dog friendly. Such a shame as on a cold day,after a walk over the golf course it was a good little cafe for a coffee. Dog walkers though can still use the outdoor seating.

Kids love the well kitted play ground with thousands of things to climb on, places to hide, tunnels to crawl through, swing to test their g-force endurance training and the cafe serves reasonably priced decent portion sized French fries for a nice cost effective "cheat-snack" for the pregnant wife and kids alike.. And there's golf for the dads and a bar too, convenient parking and 10 mins out of Bournemouth via dual carriage way. Perfect.

Unfortunately didnt know main cafe was upstairs.this was difficult to juggle with food & drink. Staff were helpful by bringing our bacon baps to us. There is a hot drinks machine on ground floor but cafe is shut out of season.

We love this cafe, child friendly, good reasonable food & lovely staff. We come here a lot as my kids loves the park here & the cafe. After school we come here to meet up with my kids friends & sometimes just my kids & i to play at the park and to Woodpecker Cafe to enjoy coffee or tea & their lovely selections of cakes, while my kids enjoys their ice lollies all seasons. Some days after school, the kids likes to eat here too and the food is good & so reasonable, we either sit in but we take the food out mostly as the kids prefers to eat at the park just outside the cafe. The staff are friendly and good to us with children, all in all very happy with this cafe and all I’ve mention makes us come here more.

We ordered two sandwiches (we have the same every week and have done for years) both where wrong and when we complained the sandwiches where taken away and our money returned with no attempt to put it right

Lovely place to get a drink, wether it's hot, cold, achoholic or soft. On a nice day it's great to sit out on the spacious balcony which overlooks the golf course and park but inside in the bar is almost as good. Food both hot and cold is available and tastes delicious. I was very impressed by the attitude of the staff who are warm, welcoming and very helpful. Fantastic place to spend an hour or two especially on a nice day.

We had the usual warm welcome from Charlotte this morning! Breakfast was just as we ordered it and the coffee was good - as usual! Nice place to chill not too far from home!

Excellent place for kid's parties and great play area. Very enjoyable visits every time. Had a bit of everything.

After checking out loads of venues, we chose the Woodpecker Cafe. The hire price of the venue was nothing when I booked, I think it has now increased to £25 which compared with other venues is still nothing. We paid extra for a buffet. There is a fully licensed bar, with a good selection of draft, bottle and spirits, which are relatively cheap (not expensive). There is a good amount of seating in the bar area as well as in the function room.The staff were really helpful and receptive to what we wanted. They provided a really tasty and varied buffet, which all the guests thoroughly enjoyed. They included vegetarian food. On the night, it came to light that one of our guests needed gluten free food and the chef went out of his way to make a selection she could eat. That was such a lovely gesture. We were going to have a band and disco. In the end we had a disco and karaoke. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. We paid extra for one of the members of staff, who has his own balloon decorating business, to decorate the room for us. The actual venue is the club house on the Queens Park Golf Course and it has recently been decorated. The function room, licensed bar and toilets are on the first floor. Also, for those people who smoke or who just want fresh air, there is a lovely long balcony which overlooks the golf course. You do not need to go downstairs until the end of the night if you do not want too! The staff have a very friendly, flexible and positive approach to individual needs with regards to placement of tables and buffet. I do not think that they said no to any of our suggestions, they offered their own suggestions which was very helpful. I cannot speak more highly of our experience of the Woodpecker Cafe and their staff. The venue has a very large, free carpark, which I left my car in overnight without problem. There is a lovely children's play area next to the cafe which looks like a lot of fun. I would recommend this hidden gem of a venue, the value is very reasonable, organising the event was very easy, as the staff made it easy. And no, I do not have shares in the cafe or relatives who work there, it is just a really great place!!

Just finished a really delicious cheese and potato pasty with salad on the side. Good price and best pasty I have had in years. I have been watching the transformation of this cafe into the 21st Century. Great fresh look now and the food has really improved.

Every week after playing golf with a friend we go out for something to eat. Today we went after playing Queens Park we thought we would try the Bar /Cafe.We ordered 2 full English breakfasts and 2 coffees. After a wait of about 15-20 mins the coffee arrived - no sign of breakfast, on asking when we could expect it I was told very soon. 25 mins after ordering the breakfast arrived.It certainly was not worth the wait, in fact I would say it was the worst breakfast I have had in some years Eggs hard and crisp on the bottom bacon overcooked and hard. The toast was toasted on one side then p[laced on the plate and the cooked breakfast emptied on top. Resulting in a messy pile of food with toast now turned to stodge on the bottom. Result a badly presented mess making no effort to look or appetising. My first and last visit .One star has to show to post review

I'm a regular dog walker on Queens Park Golf Course & have always thought that with a bot of TLC this would be a perfect spot for dog walkers as well as golfers

Situated on the first floor in the golf pavilion with a balcony over looking the first tee and with a new play area on the other side, the place should be a goldmine, however it does not make best use of its setting. We visited on a warm summers day and all the seats on the balcony were torn or had holes in them, whilst a number inside had heavily faded seats.
