Chaplins is one of those rare, one-of-a-kind places. The live music creates an incredible atmosphere, with a big crowd cheering and encouraging everyone to sing along—it’s such a fun, lively vibe! What I really love is the theme of the place, blending a vintage feel with trendy, modern touches that make it stand out. The service is equally impressive. The staff were super friendly and helpful, making sure we got exactly what we wanted, and quickly too! Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for a memorable night out. Definitely worth checking out!

Love this place. So unique and definitely my favourite place to unwind and chill. Now has some enhanced outdoor areas. There is always something new to notice here. Try it, you honestly will not regret it!

Great place to eat and drink in Boscombe

Had Sunday lunch with my sister on the 15th September. Awful lamb we couldn’t eat and told waitress. We were the only people eating indoors, perhaps having a burger in the outside eating area would have been the better option.

We had the sharer, which was amazing. Good range of drinks and top service. We really enjoyed it.

This is a truly unique place and has a great vibe along with the decor, which you can wander round and stare at for hours and not get bored. Service was a little slow and all drinks were served in plastic glasses, including a bottle of wine which was decanted into a plastic container before leaving the bar!!! This made me want to leave and not bother. For a treat night out, drinking out of plastic cups ruined it for me. Suddenly made me worry about what kind of place I had walked into.

Brilliant place! Many, many moons ago, I went here for a night sesh with some work colleagues. What I remember of it was great songs, a ram packed bar, and my now wife doing the All Blacks Hacker. More recently, 14th Sept., we came here for some lunch. It has expanded and has become even more unique (which I didn't think was possible). It's hard to describe what it's like, but go and visit for some food and keep spending throughout the night. Chaplins & Cellar Bar should be a landmark for Boscombe & Bournemouth.

Chaplin & The Cellar Bar is a great spot! The food is tasty, and the drinks are excellent. The outdoor space is really nice – perfect for relaxing with friends. A cozy and welcoming place overall. Definitely worth a visit!

Great bar! A beer garden, a bar and a cellar bar. Everthing is well connected and quirky. Staff are happy and a good selection of local and mainstream beers. Its worth eating here aswell!

Came here for a few drinks and had a great time and the atmosphere was great too with the live music!

Decent Pub in the daytime, but certain nights/ weekends they operate a quite vague and unnecessary dress code that doesn't really make sense for this type of venue. Serving beer in plastic cups is also a little disappointing. If they improved in these aspects it would be the best venue in the area! The decor and beer selection are nice.

5£ entry fee for a pub. What a joke

Very busy but service was still good, friendly customer base, slippery nipples was the order of the day, great with a pint of Guinness.

Super place for music and atmosphere

I was looking for a place to enjoy some wine in Bournemouth and Chaplin's came up. When I arrived there are two doors one entrance leads you downstairs where they do not serve food, the door on the left was more directly for the restaurant. Inside you can dine inside or you can go to the back garden. The place has several sitting areas, stairs they lead to several roof top tables, down stairs near a little pond. There are nick nacks all over this place so something to see at every corner. I only had truffle fries they were good to snack on. Expect to be around a lot of smoke as the entire place outside had tons of regulars chain smoking. I'm sad I didn't go downstairs to check out the wine bar but I didn't want to stay in the neighborhood after dark. I left after two decent glasses of wine. You have to go inside at the bar to order, no servers, so climbing the stairs with wine was a little non relaxing. Cute to see if you're in the area.

We came here for a drink and got invited down to the basement where they had a poetry recital event. This matched this quirky place perfectly. So nice to go somewhere different from the norm.

Quirky bar dedicated to Charlie Chaplin.... staff were very good

Totally weird. Bouncer requested we buy and eat takeaway opposite before allowing entry having arrived in large group, said it was because I had to steady myself out of the taxi (I was still sat in the taxi when he made the request). Bonkers. So we had to buy food and pretend to eat before we were allowed to join our friends on a birthday night out. Very very odd. .

Chaplin's is a lovely bar that has super unique decorations and therefore atmosphere. The staff was very friendly during our visit, the drinks were delicious, and the garden area was spacious and sunny for a whole afternoon of drinks and giggles. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves quirky bars, the 1920s, beer gardens, and a variety of drinks. I would also recommend this place to everyone else, as even if you aren't into any of the previously mentioned things, it's still a great experience to visit Chaplin's.

Excellent, unique environment, very kind staff, excellent food.

Ended up here in search of some music after dining locally. Good selection of beers, service was ok - nothing special to be honest. good atmosphere helped by a busy bar. Standard toilets for a pub, not the nicest but functional. The Audio system could do with an upgrade as it seemed old and there were many issues trying to get everything working. The garden outside was nice for some air.

Chaplin's is our favourite place in Bournemouth for a drink! The staff are helpful, polite and friendly, always welcoming guests with a smile. The crowd is kinda alternative and never feels aggressive or rowdy like regular pubs. People are often happy to strike up a conversation with others in the beer garden and it's just good vibes all round. The super quirky, carefully curated decor is Chaplin-themed throughout, and adds to this establishment's warm, playful vibe, and shows that the whole place is a labour of love for its proprietors. The Cellar Bar downstairs is also a great place for later in the evening, having regular live, local music acts and a great selection of drinks! We have only eaten in the restaurant once about 6 months ago, where the food was a little underwhelming. However, the service was excellent and we'd be willing to give it another go soon. (Update: we've eaten in the restaurant twice recently, and the food was fantastic both times!) As members of the LGBTQ+ community, we feel completely comfortable and relaxed at this venue - something that is very difficult to find in most British pubs and bars that aren't specifically gay bars. Overall, a big thank you to the Chaplin's team for making this an awesome place to come and chill.

Really quirky venue. Great atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff (Laura and Erin in particular). Limited beer (ale) nd menu selection but very palatable. Will definitely return.

This wonderful place is such a terrific experience. The number of Chaplin memorabilia is spectacular. The staff, in particular Laura, was fabulous. The food was great and the cost very reasonable.

This venue was a wonderful experience. They went above and beyond to accommodate our allergies. The ambience was excellent. The Chaplin theme was incredible, the service was excellent. Laura was an incredible hostess and really looked after us. Live music every night.

This is a fabulous restaurant! The atmosphere, the food and service was so far above our expectations! A special shout out to Laura who went out of her way to ensure some allergy needs were accommodated . Truly, you could spend days seeing all the amazing art pieces. They have live music every night. Treat yourself to an amazing meal and fun adventure!

Really nice and enjoyable experience in this bar and restaurant, first rate and friendly staff and the food was good, and with live entertainment everynight downstairs in the cellar bar, makes a really nice venue for night out or afternoon and early evening, the theatre theme and charlie chaplin memorabilia everywhere was super cool and just adds to the nice feeling you get when your in the place, we will certainly go back next time we are down there.

Best live music venue in bounemouth. The atmosphere is amazing. Its beautifully created, bohemian, sexy, artistic and humorously decorated. Everywhere you look its a delight. The colours are gorgeous, it's classy and sassy and creative. Its a special place, that houses excellent talent. Ive been blown away by the incredible artists that play there and such an amazing range of music. As well as it being a beautiful and special place that offers such varied entertainment, I feel completely at home in this venue and that's largely due to the excellent staff that run the ship, from doormen to bar staff and kitchen. All top notch service. As a female I feel completely safe as I know security are what it says on the tin. They're a great team, really astute, enabling customers to have a great time, free to let go and enjoy the music, yet looked out for, which is comforting. Theres a great range of drinks and beers and the food is delish!!! I like it that he owner takes pride in his place and spends time there, its like a surrogate family to many. When deciding where to live in this area there were two criteria..the sea and Chaplins. Its a Bournemouth treasure

Great and interesting menu - asparagus dish and sharing platters are delicious. Staff are very professional - all of them - but a special mention to Tommy and Amy. Bar staff were lovely too. Prices reasonable. Decor is amazing and was done by owner's wife.

Honestly, better than expected. We were in the area visiting mates, heard there was a band playing so decided to grab food before. Good, solid British classics. Decent portions, price wasn’t extortionate and staff were cracking jokes with us. Only downside, we could only pay cash and when I walked to the atm, a group of guys tried to take my money. Area certainly isn’t great.

Friday night 8/4/23 great evening until at 21.20hrs I got pulled out for I don’t know what to be honest?? But after waiting outside chaplins while the security investigated for 30 minutes I was eventually allowed back in, but when I asked the security they said we can’t say but a misunderstanding!!! My Girlfriend whose was sat inside was rather bemused, so hopefully Harry who is in charge can have a civilised chat with me about this?? as not a good look & rather embarrassing on all account’s!!! Otherwise I won’t be going back spending my money in chaplins in future!!!

I stopped in for some food before a gig at the 02 and it was very busy. I was on my own and the friendly staff was able to seat me for dinner. Food and drink was very good and the staff friendly with good service! The decor and atmosphere is so fun. Cool bar area downstairs also. If I'm back in the area I will definitely go here again!

Great love music venue with decent ale selection

I booked a table for 8 on a busy Friday night. We had a 5.15pm booking with a deadline of 7.00pm for us to get into a concert in the O2 Academy nearby. Christian and his team looked after us very well, with 2 other groups in the house as well. The food was excellent quality; the benefits of a small menu, dishes are well prepared and cooked and delicious. The lamb, the burgers and the fish and chips were all excellent. The service was prompt and charming, they got us through in time and we'd all be happy to go back again. I'm happy to highly recommend this Charlie Chaplin themed restaurant and cellar bar.

My wife and I ate here last night. Fantastic atmosphere, roaring fire, interesting company and great food. The service was relaxed, attentive and excellent. We squeezed in for a quick dinner before a gig at the O2.

A little wacky with their bright colours and interesting art, but nothing could take our attention away from the meal. We had the lamb which was not only delicious but easily adaptable for gf and df. The staff were very friendly and accomadating. We couldn't have asked for better. Thank you.

One of THE MOST quirky establishments I’ve ever had the pleasure to visit. Quirky bar, decor and quirky punters, every visit to Chaplins is different and always a pleasure. Outstanding food from a very impressive menu. Can’t fault the place

Spend an hour or two in Chaplin’s and you’ll witness the whole spectrum of life passing before your eyes. There is such an eclectic mix of people, yet everyone is always so friendly, that in Chaplin’s you reach an experience that is beyond the limits of basic humanity. Chaplin’s is much more than a pub, and more than a college bar, it is alive with people of all ages and as you become aware of the wonder of life at its fullest you feel welcomed by all. My wife and I find ourselves talking freely to people older than us, and people younger than us, and people down on their luck for one reason or another, and people who life has obviously been very kind to. You’ll find people with beautiful and creative tattoos, another person who looks as though he’s stepped straight out of the Beat Generation of the 50s with dark glasses, polo-neck and a goatee beard, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see people in bow ties and evening dresses walk through the door. Yet no one looks out of place! The restaurant is fabulous, the food really special, yet many people don’t even know it exists because they close their doors about 9.30 – 10 p.m., so if you’re a late visitor you won’t even know about it but trust me it’s worth trying. Plus, there’s a variety of music on most nights. Downstairs in the Cellar Bar it’s a little too loud for my liking on a Saturday night, but it’s a cracking bar the rest of the week with a diverse choice of live musicians. The staff are a joy in themselves, but again, it’s the beautiful, intense, and colourful clientele that make Chaplin’s so special. We found ourselves discussing one in particular, who could have been a vicar, then again, he could have been a Tai Chi or King Fu master. We never found out. The husband of an elderly couple we got chatting to turns out to be running a boxing club. Chaplin’s is alive! It’s alive as if the whole energy of Boscombe is trapped within its walls. I spoke to a chap whose story broke my heart, yet meanwhile other people stopped by our table to say hello and talk for a minute or two. Dig deeper into Chaplin’s and you’ll find psychics, weirdos, comedians, and the lost souls this holiday town embraces. Some are low-spirited it’s true, while others are talkative, bubbly, cheery and zingy. Maybe it’s the décor, which is something to behold, variegated in the extreme with countless effigies of Charlie Chaplin. But maybe it’s just Boscombe. Chaplin’s is a safe haven amongst the absurdity of Boscombe. I can’t recommend it enough!

Really disappointing on my way out to the smoking area, my drink got knocked out of my hand. That I just brought and they wouldn't give me a refill. Most places would do so, it's a bad streak of luck that happens to someone a couple of times in their life and it really sucks when you've just paid £5 for a drink when it does and to not give a refill is a horrible thing to do.

Was sceptical about going to Chaplains, mainly because of its location, but have to say it was a little gem. Fantastic service, fantastic food, fantastic atmosphere. Absolutely packed, says it all. Will definitely be going back.

I was asked to leave , but don't know why , but I believe in the staff and all others on the pay roll , they have ALWAYS been there for me and 100% always helped me with my physical disabilities , and getting around the pub site , I would recommend this bar - pub to anyone and everyone , very friendly , I can't sing their praises enough , love them so much 0

We were lucky enough to go to Boscombe for my school half-term (in October) and even more fortunate to stumble across Chaplin’s on our first evening there. It was so lovely that we went back twice again. Arthur looked after us each time and Erin (who was quite new, I think) was a wonderful waitress too. They were friendly, yet professional. The food was delicious and the decor is second to none. A definite must if you’re in the Boscombe Bournemouth neighbourhoods. We will definitely return…

Chaplins is the place to be in Boscombe, there is a fun quirky vibe, the staff are very friendly and extra helpful, live music is on every night, blasting out different tube vibes like you've never seen before. DEFO WORTH A VISIT "5 STARS"

I went in just for a drink. Where I sat near the bar there were so many bar flies it was horrible. The staff should be cleaning more. It's a shame because otherwise it would be a lovely place for a drink.
