Great place for a drink and food. Good atmosphere and nice staff.

So saddened to see how the welcoming, cool and non-judgemental vibe has changed at Chaplins. On a recent visit my friend and I were spoken to very condescendingly and refused entry because he was wearing a football shirt and loose trousers (which he has to for personal reasons), on a Monday too? I frequently went to Chaplins when I lived in Bournemouth a few years ago because it was one of those rare places that warmly welcomed anyone regardless of what you looked like, it also seemed much quieter. I've had many good times here with friends and family over the years but sadly shall not bother again on my next visit, such a shame it's lost its spirit.

The beer and the atmosphere are great, I recommend it

Fairly newcomer to the bar- have yet to find the cellar bar open but love the beer and love the atmosphere - stunning gem and a surprise to find in the area 😂

Don't give us the "drinks menu" if you are then going to demand ID from our 26 year old daughter and deny us that. It's not a night club at 2pm on a Sunday.... train your staff properly.... use common sense ....

Bar staff in cellar was very rude, was condescending to me and my mates, refused my ID when I'm very obviously over 18 and I'd been going here for months, usually very nice though.

Boscombe's best boozer by a mile. Quirky, interesting and fun. In the running for BCP's best place for a drink.

Turned up, me and 3 girls. One was a bit 'tipsy' and the door staff refused us entry. Reluctantly and sad, the 'tipsy' one went home in a taxi, 2 of the girls went in and then they said I couldn't because I had a bad attitude. I had been nice, polite and helped get the other girl home. I tried polititely for them to let me in but they wouldn't so the others left and we all went somewhere else. So unprofessional, rude and intimidating. We will not go back there. I wouldn't mind but lots of people always smoking weed in there and that's ok!!

We had a wonderful experience at Chaplin's. Great food, drinks, and service -- not to mention a bunch of great locals that we got to share drinks & stories with!

Outstanding food! My husband and I fancied some nice food, an open fire and a good atmosphere and chaplins delivered! I opted for the lamb which is an unusual choice for me and it was exceptional. All very reasonably priced and lovely big wine glasses too! Customers of all ages and brilliant service lead to a very enjoyable evening. They’ve clearly invested some money into renovation and done a brilliant job, quirky, classy, quality and relaxed. We’ll be back!

What's a place!!! You won't appreciate it until you are there. Full of charm, great food, staff was friendly.

Busy, quirky bar that was buzzing when we visited. Good beers and spirits selection, and some great banter with the other clientele. Nice stop off just before the O2 Academy venue for gigs. Recommended.

It's a great independent, authentic pub. Great atmosphere and friendly vibe. I only wish that it was nearer to make it my local. Great vodka martinis as well as beer.

This is a very special bar located in Boscombe. It has an eclectic style to it, with the Charlie Chaplin theme throughout, with live music in the basement bar, in the upstairs bar on a Sunday night and sometimes for events at the weekend in the garden bar. It hasa great outdoor garden where you can enjoy the sunshine or shelter in the shade, and now they have a restaurant adjoining the building too. So lots to see, lots to do, lots to drink and lots of eating. too. Well worth visiting!

Over 20 years since I've been in here (used to be just the cellar bar) but I've been missing out on an absolute gem, will be back again very soon.

What I really love is the theme of the place, blending a vintage feel with trendy, modern touches that make it stand out. The service is equally impressive. The staff were super friendly and helpful, making sure we got exactly what we wanted, and quickly too! Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for a memorable night out. Definitely worth checking out!

Love this place. So unique and definitely my favourite place to unwind and chill. Now has some enhanced outdoor areas. There is always something new to notice here. Try it, you honestly will not regret it!

Great place to eat and drink in Boscombe

Had Sunday lunch with my sister on the 15th September. Awful lamb we couldn’t eat and told waitress. We were the only people eating indoors, perhaps having a burger in the outside eating area would have been the better option.

We had the sharer, which was amazing. Good range of drinks and top service. We really enjoyed it.

This is a truly unique place and has a great vibe along with the decor, which you can wander round and stare at for hours and not get bored. Service was a little slow and all drinks were served in plastic glasses, including a bottle of wine which was decanted into a plastic container before leaving the bar!!! This made me want to leave and not bother. For a treat night out, drinking out of plastic cups ruined it for me. Suddenly made me worry about what kind of place I had walked into.

Brilliant place! Many, many moons ago, I went here for a night sesh with some work colleagues. What I remember of it was great songs, a ram packed bar, and my now wife doing the All Blacks Hacker. More recently, 14th Sept., we came here for some lunch. It has expanded and has become even more unique (which I didn't think was possible). It's hard to describe what it's like, but go and visit for some food and keep spending throughout the night. Chaplins & Cellar Bar should be a landmark for Boscombe & Bournemouth.

Chaplin & The Cellar Bar is a great spot! The food is tasty, and the drinks are excellent. The outdoor space is really nice – perfect for relaxing with friends. A cozy and welcoming place overall. Definitely worth a visit!

Great bar! A beer garden, a bar and a cellar bar. Everthing is well connected and quirky. Staff are happy and a good selection of local and mainstream beers. Its worth eating here aswell!

Came here for a few drinks and had a great time and the atmosphere was great too with the live music!

Decent Pub in the daytime, but certain nights/ weekends they operate a quite vague and unnecessary dress code that doesn't really make sense for this type of venue. Serving beer in plastic cups is also a little disappointing. If they improved in these aspects it would be the best venue in the area! The decor and beer selection are nice.

5£ entry fee for a pub. What a joke

Very busy but service was still good, friendly customer base, slippery nipples was the order of the day, great with a pint of Guinness.

Super place for music and atmosphere

I was looking for a place to enjoy some wine in Bournemouth and Chaplin's came up. When I arrived there are two doors one entrance leads you downstairs where they do not serve food, the door on the left was more directly for the restaurant. Inside you can dine inside or you can go to the back garden. The place has several sitting areas, stairs they lead to several roof top tables, down stairs near a little pond. There are nick nacks all over this place so something to see at every corner. I only had truffle fries they were good to snack on. Expect to be around a lot of smoke as the entire place outside had tons of regulars chain smoking. I'm sad I didn't go downstairs to check out the wine bar but I didn't want to stay in the neighborhood after dark. I left after two decent glasses of wine. You have to go inside at the bar to order, no servers, so climbing the stairs with wine was a little non relaxing. Cute to see if you're in the area.

We came here for a drink and got invited down to the basement where they had a poetry recital event. This matched this quirky place perfectly. So nice to go somewhere different from the norm.

Quirky bar dedicated to Charlie Chaplin.... staff were very good

Totally weird. Bouncer requested we buy and eat takeaway opposite before allowing entry having arrived in large group, said it was because I had to steady myself out of the taxi (I was still sat in the taxi when he made the request). Bonkers. So we had to buy food and pretend to eat before we were allowed to join our friends on a birthday night out. Very very odd. .

Chaplin's is a lovely bar that has super unique decorations and therefore atmosphere. The staff was very friendly during our visit, the drinks were delicious, and the garden area was spacious and sunny for a whole afternoon of drinks and giggles. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves quirky bars, the 1920s, beer gardens, and a variety of drinks. I would also recommend this place to everyone else, as even if you aren't into any of the previously mentioned things, it's still a great experience to visit Chaplin's.

Excellent, unique environment, very kind staff, excellent food.

Ended up here in search of some music after dining locally. Good selection of beers, service was ok - nothing special to be honest. good atmosphere helped by a busy bar. Standard toilets for a pub, not the nicest but functional. The Audio system could do with an upgrade as it seemed old and there were many issues trying to get everything working. The garden outside was nice for some air.

Chaplin's is our favourite place in Bournemouth for a drink! The staff are helpful, polite and friendly, always welcoming guests with a smile. The crowd is kinda alternative and never feels aggressive or rowdy like regular pubs. People are often happy to strike up a conversation with others in the beer garden and it's just good vibes all round. The super quirky, carefully curated decor is Chaplin-themed throughout, and adds to this establishment's warm, playful vibe, and shows that the whole place is a labour of love for its proprietors. The Cellar Bar downstairs is also a great place for later in the evening, having regular live, local music acts and a great selection of drinks! We have only eaten in the restaurant once about 6 months ago, where the food was a little underwhelming. However, the service was excellent and we'd be willing to give it another go soon. (Update: we've eaten in the restaurant twice recently, and the food was fantastic both times!) As members of the LGBTQ+ community, we feel completely comfortable and relaxed at this venue - something that is very difficult to find in most British pubs and bars that aren't specifically gay bars. Overall, a big thank you to the Chaplin's team for making this an awesome place to come and chill.

This wonderful place is such a terrific experience. The number of Chaplin memorabilia is spectacular. The staff, in particular Laura, was fabulous. The food was great and the cost very reasonable.

This is a fabulous restaurant! The atmosphere, the food and service was so far above our expectations! A special shout out to Laura who went out of her way to ensure some allergy needs were accommodated . Truly, you could spend days seeing all the amazing art pieces. They have live music every night. Treat yourself to an amazing meal and fun adventure!

Really nice and enjoyable experience in this bar and restaurant, first rate and friendly staff and the food was good, and with live entertainment everynight downstairs in the cellar bar, makes a really nice venue for night out or afternoon and early evening, the theatre theme and charlie chaplin memorabilia everywhere was super cool and just adds to the nice feeling you get when your in the place, we will certainly go back next time we are down there.

It's a nice place. Live music. Felt a bit old haha its more of a young hipster type place it seems but it's a good space and beer options were reasonable and decent.

Excellent place, great atmosphere, fantastic food and exceptional service! It's one of the few restaurants where you are more than happy to have a predrink in the same place!
