Great value with 30 off on food pizza great fresh not bought in staff. Managers great friendly and always say goodbye small point but a great one and very clean well done all

Had the loveliest surf and turf was cooked by the head chef sharon was delicious no waiting and appreciated the young lad from behind the bar coming to check the meals were ok music was ay a nice level we could all hear each other speak

Came here for steak night on Thursday 26th September arriving at 5.15pm. There were 3 of us. 2 ordered sirloin (for an £1.75 surcharge) and 1 of us ordered rump. About 5 minutes after we’d sat down we were informed there was only 1 sirloin steak left. Surely on steak night you ensure you have enough steaks! So one of us had to have rump instead. Both rump steaks were asked to be cooked medium however one of them was rare. Both rump steaks were also so tough and you had to chew for ages before you could swallow them. We ended up complaining about the steak that should have been cooked medium but came out rare so they cooked us another one - this time better however the rest of the food on our plate was now cold. I think they should have brought out a whole new meal not just the steak. The grilled tomato that came with the meal had only seen a grill for a few seconds and was still cold. The peas were also undercooked and the peppercorn sauce tasteless. The pub was practically empty - with no other diners in the dining side of the pub so it’s not like the chef was busy. All in all a completely disappointing experience and the chef should have done a lot better than that!

Really impressed with the food here now. Doner kebab is lovely, fish and chips amazing, large portions, nicely seasoned chips. Bar service is also very good, friendly and worth a visit.

This is the worse place I have ever eaten. The food was beyond dry and bland. Hunters chicken REALLY 1 dried up pice of chicken with 2 tiny bits of dry bacon NO cheese no sauce. Don’t waste ya money !!

Whilst previous visits to the Woodman last year we enjoyed, this time our lunch meal with friends and experience was very poor. Initially till/receipt issues, long delay before getting our food (despite very few people in), mix up and wrong dishes brought to the table at first, small and poor quality of food, had to ask for our table to be cleared and afters brought to us, puddings paid for then "not available", and in total it took over two and a half hours to have our meal. Not sure if it is due to change of owners or staff and supplier issues but sorry Woodman we wont be back.

We are a family of four who wanted a meal out together. We came into the pub around 6:00pm to be greeted by a bingo game and quiz that made the place feel like an old people's home. The quiz host was trying his best to create atmosphere but fell way short with sexist statements about "birds of the feathered variety" and asking people to shout house in their best Irish accent! Sexism and racism that would be better suited to the 1970 and should be have been left there. The meals came and three of the four were burnt. 2 burgers that were barely recognisable, burger buns black on the inside and a mixed grill with every meat component massively over cooked and the egg was so over done it could be snapped in half. The meals were replaced with an apology and an offer of a round of drinks. As we had just ordered more drinks we declined them and awaited our food. When the second set of meals arrived, two of the three were OK but the mixed grill still had an issue with the steak, this time it was bloody and under cooked. My wife went to complain again to the person who served us who in turn referred her to the manager who was sat at a table with his family. My wife said we had already sent the meals back once but the steak on this was rare. The manager argued that it was medium rare. (no argument really since that's still not what we asked for) At this point the Manager said he was on his day off and didn't know why we were "having a go at him". The fact was we had complained to someone in charge and was passed to him, we didn't know he wasn't on duty. The manager was unbending and refused to admit they were at all at fault. He just repeated "Why are you in my face". He could see that we were clearly upset by the situation but offered no way to de-ecallate, in fact when we asked to go above him and talk to his boss, we were told that all complaints come to him first so it won't go anywhere anyway. (apparently he will get in front of it with his boss and smooth things over, only adding to our frustration.) We got our coats and left. On the way out he muttered "have a nice evening", clearly a sarcastic provocation which in this day and age of customer service was totally transparent and unnecessary but caused an outburst from my wife which is totally out of character. We have been customers of the woodman since it opened and have had the odd bad experience but never as bad as this. I have never seen a manager argue the toss over a steak being Medium rare not rare, the fact is it wasn't what we asked for and just wanted recompense for the poor quality of service. There has been a steady decline in food standards over recent months but this evening's meal was appalling. If you are looking for a low rent atmosphere then you have hit the mark. It's certainly not we have come to expect from this place or Marston but it's where we are.

We pre-booked the Boxing Day meal for our family. 4 people from the party booked the traditional turkey breast which to quote the menu includes”slices of succulent roast turkey; home made Yorkshire pudding & seasonal vegetables”. The turkey was dry, brown and very stale. Yorkshire pudding was frozen and not home made; vegetables were soggy and cold. All meals were sent back to the kitchen. Upon receiving “freshly cooked” replacements, these were no better and in fact kitchen staff had scraped burnt bits from the Yorkshire pudding. Again food was cold; parsnip & roast potato were swimming in grease. We rejected the meals and went elsewhere. I won’t be returning. The 5th meal was never brought out so I can’t comment whether the lamb shank lived up to the menu description.

I visited here with my family for tea. The staff were very friendly and the food arrived promptly and was very nice. The childrens meals were great value. Will definitely recommend and look forward to visiting again soon.

Met up with family as we don’t live in area anymore, bit of a disaster all round. First of all when I went to order was told that the festive menu has to be preordered ( no mention of this on menu ) Then were told no cod in fact no fish at all ( only scampi which of course it seafood not fish ) Meals were slow arriving and although the server said the plates were hot they most certainly weren’t and the food was only lukewarm. All in all very disappointing, we used to visit quite often when we lived in the area but certainly won’t rush back.

I come from a very long and hard day at work and only asked for a nice burger and drink…. Well the burger was so burnt I could have thrown it through a window and my drink was flatter than a brick wall. Very disappointed for £30 worth of food and drinks!!!!!!!!

Very attentive friendly staff and they give customers a personal service. The staff care and give you their time. I love that it is now dog friendly and the staff even take the time to give dogs attention. I would definitely recommend it.
