Toby Carvery in Rotherham

Food wasn't as nice as Dodworth Toby carvery in Barnsley or the atmosphere, servers at the table were friendly but the people near the food area were stressed and unfriendly.

Was made to feel welcome by a warm and bubbly staff member called michelle . Nothing was too much trouble for her . Food was also great quality for the price .

Yorkshire puddings that disintegrated to dust. Dried out mac and cheese. No potato bake. 3 empty veg containers and by the time they were filled up after a 10 minute wait the rest of my dinner had gone cold. Condiments empty. Their excuse was its 50% off day. So my advice would be go when you're paying full price unless you want substandard food. The only saving grace at this place is the waitress Michelle.

The meat was fatty. The vegetables were dry and cold.wasn’t very appetising.The lady chef was very abrupt .She was very off putting.Ran out of a lot of desserts.Only worth the price with 50% off.

Made the mistake of popping in around 1pm, looked noisy and busy. Not a place you can just go and sit where you want, we were placed wedged between two tables, sitting down we felt uncomfortable as people were sitting right next to us and didn’t feel very private. What’s annoying was there was a round empty table for two near the front entrance, with adequate space around it. Staff member lead us to the most awkward table she could find. We walked out before we even ordered. This was our first visit to a Toby Carvery. Never again!

This place has really improved over the years. The place seems cleaner and tidier. Food seems to be presented better and fresh. More attention to detail.

Usual good service from Kevina and Branden. Food well up to standard.

Fridays carvery was the best tasting in a longtime. It's been so bland for a while, especially the roast potatoes which are usually hard, Friday they were really tasty and moist.

The drinks machine had several unavailable which spoiled the refillables that are not cheap

We had a buffet breakfast, the food was Luke warm, taste was good but disappointing since not hot.

Food very good but place seems to be a mish mash of rooms and could do with a lick of paint , concellation drink prices very fair. Sorry this was the wrong establishment that I posted on, been to Toby before and no problems, food and staff excellent , previous post was of another place sorry if this has caused a problem.

Breakfast with Santa. Pro : Nice atmosphere. Santa and set up was lovely. The gift bag which was given was good. Food was nice I liked that it was all you could eat. Little to none queues for food and for Santa. Con: We ordered veg sausage and had to chase them then we only received 2 sausages for two people. It would have been nice for Santa to walk around while having breakfast too as that was the experience we expected. Staff were not very attentive and some of them were unapproachable. We completed a letter to Santa and added our email but didn’t get a reply as verbally advised.

Had Christmas dinner here today. We had ordered the vegetarian option but for some reason the server was confused by this & disappeared into the kitchen. It was eventually brought to our table but was really soggy - it had clearly been microwaved. The sprouts were served with bacon, no separate dish for vegetarians. My daughter queried the drinks bill to find she had been overcharged by £10 & we only had 3 drinks in total. Card & crackers on the table were a nice touch but food not worth £60.

came for breakfast this morning must say i was dissapointed good selection of food however when we came to eat it found every thing was cold i know that its laid out buffet style but steps need to be taken to keep food hot

Went for a Breakfast and I have to say it was horrible,It must have been cooked the day before.Everything was hard,even the eggs and the price £22 for 2 people with a Pepsi.Not worth it.

We came for Breakfast with Santa on Saturday and it was lovely, meet and greet from santa was excellent the children loved it.. very quick, attentive and polite service from Michelle, was always happy to help! Thank you.

We did breakfast with Santa yesterday the kids loved it and food was great!! Would like to thank Michelle and Kevina for looking after us all. We will be back

Went for Sunday lunch with the family, was a lovely meal. Plenty of food, staff were great and very helpful, atmosphere was warm and welcoming and lively. Was a lovely treat to go for Sunday lunch! UPDATE: 7th Dec 2024 We went for the Breakfast with Santa event for my niece. It was so lovely, my niece was extremely happy and excited to see Santa. The food was lovely, and the service was amazing. Our server, Michelle, was so lovely, and happy to help with anything. Great job with what you did with this Breakfast with Santa Event Michelle, Supper!

Went there twice while in the area, could not fault anything about my experience at all. The food was fresh and plentiful. The staff were friendly and helpful

Exceptional food (a whole lot better than last order!). Delivery driver was really nice and polite.

Food was OK ish, not much meat, I just had 2 meats, (very thinly cut), but was also bugged by fly's, so that didn't help, Staff were fine, not too bothered about returning.

Cant fault the food and the 2 young servers were run off their feet , Geórgia was very friendly and made good out of being very busy .

Cheese balls were absolutely rock hard + bone dry. Advertised as mac 'n' cheese. Macaroni was edible - no cheese - substituted with little breaded chicken balls (least I think that's what they were!). Loaded roast potatoes barely edible. P'n'B good.

Meat was over cooked and dry, pigs in blankets were cold and in edible, Yorkshire pudding was rock hard and tasted like an old frying pan, gravy was cold and portion sizes have halved

Meal was cold, roast potatoes were rubbery , gravy was very salty and bitty (we were sent vegan one?!) mash had no flavour , same as the veg with what little variety there was (peas carrots and cauliflower no cheese )

My partner and I came for breakfast this morning. Great food , only gripe was the eggs were a little snotty but it wasn't a big deal . Lovely sausage and bacon . Everything was provided and topped up as needed. Service was great. Toby Rotherham is always our go to Toby . We live in Sheffield but prefer this one to the one near us . Also the place was clean . Thanks for a lovely breakfast Toby !!

Ordered at 13:09 and was quoted 13:50 but then kept getting delayed and did not turn up till 14:45

My first time to the place and will never be back the food was that bad I wouldn't give it my dog but then again she wouldn't eat it also the beer is watered down

We booked a table when we were travelling there (20 mins from the venue). It was a good call as it was busy (it was a Friday afterall). The food was good and hearty as we expected at a Toby carvery. We all had the carvery meals and as it was half term, kids only paid a pound each for the main meal which was an absolute bargain. However, you do need to have an app or a Toby account (QR code) to activate that offer. Darren the carver was lovely and also very patient with our little one as he struggled to choose what meat for his meal. We all enjoyed our meat (pork, turkey and gammon between us but we didn't have the beef). Marie who looked after us was friendly and efficient. I was trying to figure out whether a 25% off the food bill or the £1 per kid main meal would work out cheaper for us and Marie was just very patient in explaining everything to us. Lovely dining experience. Food was as expected but the service was superb by both Marie and Darren. Thank you.

Great food just a shame there's no we're to sit so they leave u standing up for x amount of time while ur waiting for a table to become vacant but other than that everything else is fine...

Although the food was lovely the amount of meat that was given to us was absolutely ridiculous. It wasn't enough for a child let alone an adult. It was cut as thin as wafer thin packeted meat from a supermarket. I have ate at you restaurant loads of times but because of the tight portions of meat I will not come again.

Marie was lovely. Very attentive. Came and spoke made us feel really welcome. Slightly disappointed in the eggs and Yorkshire puddings being hard but everything else was lovely

Service was 5/5 Marie the server couldn't do enough to help. I ordered scrambled eggs instead of fried eggs was no trouble at all. Food 4/5 the food is always good but the problem with it is it's always just warm but you expect this coming to a buffet. The scrambled eggs I ordered were great though and hot aswell. Atmosphere 4/5 this was only due to it been very quiet nothing to do with the staff or the venue it was just monday morning probably means it's quiet.

I was here just recently with a couple of family members, and we loved it. The food was cooked perfectly and the service was fantastic. The only criticism I have is that we waited quite a while for glasses for drinks. Apart from that, fantastic time.

Had a lovely carvery. Great selection of meats and vegetables, the new sage & onion roast potatoes are delicious.

This location, all the staff we came across was so nice. We were between a long drive and their friendliness really perked us up. I think their positivity was rubbing off onto the customers too because they all seem friendly too. I actually sent a compliment into the website because we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Poor service, not once did a server come to our area to check on us once we hwd been seated and had to to chase up to pay. Carvery didn't have any kids sausages ready so kids had to wait for it to be brought out later. Some veg items on carvery were only luke warm.

First time we've had breakfast takeaway from Toby ,it will be the last time,it was a jumped up mess all the food mashed together in a bowl ,was expecting coming in a Tray with separate partitions, Which would have been better .

the driver went in the opposite way on the tracking. stayed there for 20 minutes . I got in touch and asked what was happening. apparently he needed to see someone. after a hour he knocked on door and I rejected the order. never again. updated they have given me a refund after blaming me!

The staff here are always so friendly and go above and beyond to accommodate. Our waitress was amazing and spoke to us like we were old friends. The chef serving the carvery was absolutely lovely and helpful when we asked about different options. And the food is so reasonably priced, can’t fault it. (P.S. chocolate orange cake and custard is to die for)

I quite liked this Toby Carvery when it opened, but over time it's becoming more and more clear that the dishwasher BADLY needs a service, and the crockery needs replacing. The plates are badly worn, and have lost their glaze in places. However you might overlook the state of the glaze in the miraculous event that you find a clean one! The food is, as it always was, 'fine' but definitely nothing to rave about if you're used to decent home-cooked food. That's presuming you're lucky enough NOT to find a hair in yours...

Really disappointed with the 2 meals I've had here. First time wasn't great but gave them a 2nd shot as I've heard good things about the chain, however after today I won't be returning. Most of the food (apart from the meat) was extremely stale or burnt, the roast potatoes were as hard as a rock and super dry (if you threw them at someone you could do some damage!) The Yorkshire pudding was difficult to cut through and though to eat. After mentioning it to the waitress she said she will let us know when some fresh ones were out, a couple of minutes later we were brought some more stale food and told that's all they had and that they're all the same. Such a shame.

Terrible, place was absolutely manic. We queued 40 minutes justcto actually get to the carvery deck. I understand there had been an accident with a kitchen staff member which has my full sympathy but the situation was very badly handled and it would have been better to close the doors.

Jenny the server, and my Leoni, absolutely lovely. Waited in que with me, to get my vegetables quicker. Everything we needed they went above and beyond.. Had such a laugh With them as well. The staff make the resurant, I asked for more ice cream and look at the huge dollop I got. Vegan style. Love it will deffo be back x
