The Plough Inn in Rotherham

Fantastic venue. We had our daughters wedding reception in the marquee. Vicki, Jean & Mick were extremely supportive and helpful during the run up to the big day. They took care of the catering and were extremely helpful with the different dietary needs of some of the guests. All the food was lovely and there was no shortage. The marquee was perfectly dressed with attention to detail. We used the recommended DJ and were more than happy. Five star friendly service with all needs catered for. Thank's to all for helping to make our day brilliant and stress free. Rob & Marie XX Called in for Christmas carols sung by members of United Reform Church West Melton. The plough is beautifully trimmed up for Christmas, friendly owners and staff always make you welcome. If you haven't been, you don't know what you are missing.

Looked ever so inviting so called in only to be told "we don't do food ". Very disappointed won't be calling again obviously, went to Manvers Arms instead (review to follow).

Really lovely pub. Nothing too much trouble. Marquee for an engagement party that was very comfy and nicely set out.

lovely beer garden, nice staff but a smoker came and sat near to us whilst we in the garden and his smoke kept drifting towards us. He even left a cigarette burning in the ash tray when he left.

We were Looking for somewhere to stop and Spotted the pub so called in for a couple of drinks on Saturday on the way to Sheffield.An excellent pint of Guinness for £3.30 and the staff were fantastic,everyone of them were so friendly and nothing was too much bother and the local drinkers were a real good bunch.

Afternoon tea excellent can't fault it service very good and pleasant nothing too much trouble we'll be back really good value. 👍

Went for Afternoon tea, it was fabulous, excellent food fantastically prepared and presented, we all absolutely loved it, a lovely pub with equally lovely friendly staff and is spotlessly clean and welcoming. Very reasonably priced, in fact it’s the best afternoon tea I’ve had, can’t wait to go back again. Highly recommended.

Quite nice but the cask beer selection is terrible

Lovely looking pub, fantastic looking beer garden, shame about the staff. We were stood at the bar waiting to be served , but the staff were too busy talking to friends to even bother, even turning around to see us waiting and then continued to talk amongst themselves ! Hope they survive the coming recession, but doubtful if they treat paying customers like this. Only gave one star because I can't give zero. Very rude and unprofessional. Following a reply from the owner, my review is now this. I wish the pub well in the future, but I was still unimpressed with the staff. Not only was there a young man fiddling with the dishwasher the whole time we were at the bar, who himself never acknowledged us, but if you have customer's wishing to discuss wedding bookings etc, which will obviously take time, then have the manners to request you serve a single customer at the bar before then committing such time for the booking. Considering the pub was very busy, obviously one bar staff isn't enough. Still very unprofessional.

absolutely brilliant little pub its a little hidden gem wonderful staff land lady , landlord and Vicky were amazing nothing too much trouble amazing food for the wedding breakfast the gardens andnoutdoor area are well looked after and beautiful will definately my first call for a celebration and it will be my new local pub. Its a must to visit

We called today hoping to get fed. Unfortunately they dont serve food at the pub. We stayed for a drink and a packet of crisps. Parking was easy at the front of the pub. The toilets are clean and accessible. My husband said the pint of John Smith's was lovely. The fire was welcomed as it is cold today.

Its actually my local but not frequented it much as prefer to drink indoors these days but went for a walk over xmas to blow away the cobwebs and popped in for a drink Very welcoming, newspapers to read if wanted, I see they have sky sports in evenings and the garden looked lovely for summer drinks

It was a hot and sunny day so we called in to have a drink in the beer garden. We were amazed at how brilliant it was...a hidden gem.

We've just left the Plough early after booking our summer works get together there. Absolutely disgusting attitude from the landlady all night. We walked out in disgust after constant moaning about everything before she literally reduced our six year old kids to tears by shouting at them for picking a few flowers from the garden. We paid a good sum of money for a buffet spread and had a free bar for over thirty people but even after apologising for the kids (being kids) we were told in no uncertain terms that this 'might not be the venue for you' by the grumpy so-and-so in question. Absolutely mind blown. I would highly recommend avoiding this place altogether. I will apologise to my staff on Monday morning for being made to feel so unwelcome and having our night ruined entirely.

Always a friendly place to visit. As of September 18 it cost £6.80 for a pint of John Smith's and a pint of fosters. Not sure how that price compares, but both the beer and lager were excellent.

All the staff were fabulous, polite, attentive and did an exceptional job. The food was really tasty, and a nice atmosphere too, would definitely go back.

Overall would not recommend Went in for a quick drink, bar staff were rude - made us feel unwelcome - overly checked I.D for several minutes whilst asking silly questions to verify authenticity. Locals were staring at us intrusively thus making our visit uncomfortable from start to finish. Nice exterior - shame about the lack of good customer service Word of advice for the owners - The customer is king to any business and also it is 2015 get with it!!!!!

We enjoyed our meal at this pub. The food was nice and good value, the staff were pleasant and attentive and there was a nice roaring fire to sit around having our drinks.

Nice well kept gardens, nice interior, reasonable prices. Will definitely visit again with friends or family. Ample parking.

Brought my mum here for lunch having found other places not serving lunches on Tuesdays. It was very accessible for my disabled mum, only one step into the pub and although the one disabled parking space was taken it wasn't far to walk (bus stop straight outside too!). We had a lovely lunch- the real chips were tasty, and the pie, served with mushy peas and a pot of mint sauce was excellent, and a proper pie with wrap around pastry- a rare thing these days! My mum had lasagne with potatoes and a huge, fresh salad with a pot of coleslaw. All for £10- what a bargain. The bar staff were welcoming and friendly, and I will definitely be back.

I have visited here on many occasions but recently visited for the first time with my partner. My partner had lasagne and I had fish and chips. The portion sizes were really good, the lasagne being served with chips, salad and garlic bread. It was clear that things were homemade, the salad being freshly arranged and the fish hand beer battered. I must say that on previous visits I have enjoyed my meals more as this time the chips were slightly undercooked. However I would definitely visit again as I have never had a bad meal. The meals are fairly priced, offering a two for £10 option on certain meals. There isn't a large choice of meals but a good variety. Overall a nice pub with home cooked food however I feel that it has potential to be better.
