Woodlands Pub in Derby

I usually go with my dad once a week to the Woodlands the food is very good for the price you pay ( good valve) , the real ales are well kept, and you would have to travel far to get as good a pint of pedigree and for the price it is excellent value. The Staff are most welcoming, and the landlord is doing a ongoing project to do the Woodlands pub up which he is doing a good job , the Bar seems to have more people than the bar and the bar is very good for watching sport , the lounge is less used , which is a shame as it a nice place to have a spot of lunch

Love it here, great place to watch the football. Has improved loads since I started coming here. Always get great service

Fantastic service from the moment we walked in. Sport on the many tv's, 2 new dart boards and what looks like a new pool table. Although we didn't eat, the pizzas looked great. Definitely will return now that things seemed to have massively improved.

Loads of choice for adults and kids, and the food was really good. My kids are picky, and they loved it.

Stopped in for lunch with the family mid-week. Large menu with lots of choice including veggie/vegan options. Decent beer selection too including cask ales. Everyone enjoyed their meals including the kids.

We've drank and eaten in this pub since moving to the area 8 years ago. It's always had potential, with a seperate dining room, bar and outside area but nobody has ever put the effort in... Until Now! Visiting today, the dining area has been re-decorated, pool table re-surfaced, new TVs, outside area going through a refit etc. New beer lines being added.. This should soon be a contender to the popular locals Red Lion and Markeaton. Bar staff always friendly and approachable, great family pub. Speaking to the new manager, it's clear he cares about the pub doing well, and is already putting in the hard work. It's a Stonegate pub, so you get the great food and prices and regular updates to the menu. I mean who can go wrong with a alcoholic drink and burger for less than £10! Weely quiz every Thursday which you can do on your smartphone and play for big prizes nationally. Keep up the good work and we wish you every success for the future

Lovely meal and great atmosphere, has definitely changed in recent months since my last visit and will visit again.

Wonderful local now clean Beers really good. The landlord is really doing his best to address any issues and smarten the place up. Well done to all the staff.

I visited the Woodlands and was greeted by the kind staff in a very polite manner. I received great service and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The atmosphere was very homely and the range of drinks and food was very good. The quality of the food is great and I would absolutely visit again! Thank you.

Vastly improved in the last few weeks, there seems to be a lot of work going on to improve the customer experience and freshen up the venue.

I felt bad for the staff who worked here because it was evident that whoever was in the kitchen was not a chef. Almost everything that we ordered was missing an item because they didn't have it, and the staff weren't sure what was available...

We have not been to pub for years, it’s on our doorstep but we never felt welcomed and didn’t fit in for reasons unknown. We visited as were aware of new management but thb expectations were low and thought we would stay for a drink...

New manager, very impressed. Very clean, good beer selection at good prices. Fantastic food, quick, hot and delicious. Good access for wheelchair Definitely worth the visit. We will return !

The woodlands is fantastic, amazing staff, brilliant atmosphere. I could not recommend the woodlands enough, I will definitely returning here in the foreseeable future for a brilliant night! My favourite staff members are Yaz and Callum.

Popped in as our favourite chippy was shut. Food excellent value piping hot and tasty. Great service from Pete behind the bar and lovely food cooked by Tim. We'll be back.

When we first moved to Allestree over 20 years ago this was a great pub full of people all day and great pub food the landlady Mrs Toe (Dave Toe's wife) run it and it was full every day and night then the brewery for some reason decided to change the landlord and it has gone down hill since.they have done a refurb which means less seating in the bar and the prices have gone up so do not go any more apart from the occasional pint on my way to town. I used to call in every night when it was popular but nowadays every time i have been in there are only a few people in there the old regulars dont seem to turn up apart from Mr Jones the Allestree legend Roy Jones.

Wednesday is our lunch meeting day. Today we didn't want to go far so decided on the woodlands again.Not a bad choice !!. Everywhere was clean and tidy as usual. Wednesday is pie day but we decided to go for fish and chips. Service was good and the meal came in good time. All was hot and the fish was flakey and firm, spot on. Gentleman on another table had a pie and jacket potato, it looked enormous , far too much for both of us !!!!!. If you haven't been here its well worth a visit. Clean , tidy, good service and food at a reasonable price.

Stoped by here for tea after a family day out. The food was nice enough, if anything better than I was expecting. Food for 4 and drinks were a little over £30 which seemed reasonable.The place appeared clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I would go back again for a cheap and cheerful midweek meal.

Bar staff are friendly and just a all round great pub, it’s affordable and has nice food, would recommend

Wednesday 22 May 2019 12.00. Now as this pub is fairly close to me i never seem to go there for some reason. On getting to the front door you can tell it looks well presented. On entering the lounge you will find it spotless. Clean carpet , very seldom found in a lot of places. Tables clean and not sticky , in fact you have to go and see this for yourselves, we couldn't get over this for such a busy estate pub. We were greeted by Lauren who was very helpful and a credit to the management. Although Wednesday is pie and a pint day we decided to try a steak for a change . These can vary big style between pubs so its a good comparison. We both went for a steak with cheese topping ,tomato and pepper sauce, onion rings , chips and peas. Service was in good time and the presentation was good, but now the test, how is the steak?. Spot on , cooked perfectly and tender , well cooked chef !! . All was very good. For a change we decided to have a pudding , Sticky toffee with custard , yum, went down a treat to finish an excellent meal. It takes a lot for us to give 5 stars but this was very well deserved. Nice surrounding , excellent food. We will be back.

Great place for a good drink and nice food at a very good price also great for watching sports ie football.

5/12/18 12.00 noon. Its been quite a while since I've been in here and thought it about time. On entering everywhere looked clean , tidy and nicely set out. Good greeting from the lady at the bar. We found a table and went through the menu. We noticed that wednesday was pie and a pint day but i went for fish and chips as i hadn't had this for a while and my companion fancied a curry (see photo) . While we were waiting other diners came in and were obviously regulars, good sign !.Meal came in good time and looked good. The batter on the fish was thin and crisp, the fish was flakey and well cooked, chips were thin ones, bit of a let down as i like proper chips.My companions curry was nice although a bit thin and not a lot of meat in it but ok. When the other diners meals came it seemed pies were the best bet. They looked very good so will have to go again ant try them. One thing that did strike both of us a bit strange was a person at a corner table that was turned into an office. It was interesting to listen to him on the phone commenting on having to make a visit to another establishment they needed sorting , i won't go into it any further , but we should not be hearing the company business when in for lunch !!!!!!. But it was interesting.

Always a warm friendly atmosphere, bonus of sky sports! Food is cheap and tasty and were always full ...they never disappoint. Been going for years, we won't ever stop...

We had the special deal meal which was great value. The beer was good too! The staff were helpful and welcoming. Lots of free parking.

Lots of TV's available to watch football games live and food menu choices were great and priced reasonably. Some great offer deals on too.

Found in the centre of Allestree, with a large car park. Modern building with comfortable interior comprising of a bar and lounge.

The Bar is your typical locals pub where everyone knows each other, but that said they all friendly enough.

Visited for lunch. As usual very quiet as the pub has always struggled to attract locals. However the recent makeover has certainly improved the once very drab decoration although they could have done more. More importantly the staff were really helpful and friendly and the service quick. Cheap menu with good selection of typical pub grub which is just what we wanted. We asked for 2 all day breakfasts and my husband asked if the fried eggs on his could be changed to scrambled which they did. The two meals were huge and very tasty. Well satisfied, and home for a nap.

so another quick tea a couple of weeks ago, great value for money at two adults for £7.99, a friend had the fish and chips, i had chili and rice. we had to laugh when they had no rice, and the alternative of chips was 50p extra... having said that the food was fine. lots of kids running about early evening again, that looks like a regular event. go a bit later when its quieter.

The food here is actually really nice and cheap but it feels very much a locals pub when you walk in.

quick pub tea here on Friday evening, two for £7.99 was great value. i had Cumberland sausage and mash which was fine, the wife had lasagne with garlic bread and salad also very much enjoyed. I think it would work out even cheaper if you have the classic meal at £5.99 which includes a drink.
