Disappointed with the overall experience. Ryan our server was rude and didn’t have any understanding of the menu or the wine we were requesting. Disappointed!

Quite possibly the nicest bar in Derby. Sunday afternoons, with the live music from 4pm and great selections of wines, don't come much finer. Not been, you should check it, you'll receive a warm welcome no doubt.

I hired their event space last night for my 30th birthday and wow, what a great night! The room is absolutely gorgeous, the staff were fantastic and the food was lovely. The ordering of the drinks to the tables worked so well - a special shout out to the guy who served us/took orders (sorry we didn’t get his name) as he was amazing! I would definitely recommend this place for a bar but also for an event! We will be back!

Food was very good (charcuterie boards). I personally don't care for a busy, loud, smokey atmosphere. It was also difficult to find, and parking was not easy.

Darley Abbey Wines is a gem of a place. Super staff, a wide range of vino, and a stylish yet relaxing atmosphere. And a couple of very talented musicians were playing when I visited recently. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

Lovely venue and atmosphere, open mic session was great, staff attentive and helpful.

Rude, unapproachable waitresses. Specifically the short dark haired lady with the fringe and clip in her hair. She said “move you’re in the way” when we were placed there by the manager finishing our PAID FOR drinks. She made us feel very uncomfortable which led to us leaving the premises immediately. Won’t be returning, please take a second look at the staff you employ and their customer service because it is not acceptable.

Now it is getting warmer it is a perfect time for a stroll down to the wine bar, sit outside and have a couple of drinks.

This is squirrelled away at the rear of the historic Darley Abbey Mills. Brilliant choice of wines and craft beers. Friendly and knowledgeable staff in a surprisingly large and rustic venue. Nice courtyard area too Recommend booking as this place is not such a secret anymore... See you there !!

Nice cozy bar , you have to book a table in advance.

Just called in for a few drinks after being hurried out the door of a nearby restaurant. So bearing in mind we were fed up of constantly being reminded that we needed to vacate our dinner table earlier, we were hoping for a more relaxed ambience in this wine bar. What we experienced when we sat down was quite the opposite. We ordered drinks at the bar and was asked if we’d booked a table. We explained that we’d just called in and didn’t realise that you had to book a table for just a drink???? We were shown to a table, but was told we had to vacate it by 8pm. After that, we were constantly barraged with reminders to get out for 8pm. What is wrong with establishments these days??? A terrible experience, topped off by our Brother in Law asking for non alcoholic beer, and realising half way down it that he’d been drinking alcohol!!!! Will never go again.

Like the wine bar I'm local in Darley and use it sometimes after walking the park. Good selection of wines a bit expensive. Nice log fires and ambience.

We went to Darley Abbey wines for a birthday celebration as we had been for the same celebration last year and it was amazing - and to say it was a disappointment this time round would be an understatement! They staff had no idea what they were doing and a couple (I think maybe senior managers or owners?) were hogging all the staff attention, demanding drinks for their table along with all of what seemed to be their friends. Completely polar opposite experience to when we were there this time last year!!!! Last year? Amazing staff, tight ship, clean venue, well stocked and organised bar! This year was shambolic, Staff all seem too pally pally and unfocused on serving customers and not enough focus on running a successful business. Sadly a beautiful venue, completely wasted by poor management!

A pleasing walk with a bottle of wine at the end, sitting outside listening to live music (inside) on a Sunday was the perfect end to a weekend. Staff are always friendly and welcoming and table service was quick and efficient.

Went there last night with two friends, service very slow. After 15 minutes of waiting, went in to ask if I could order at the bar. Told no! 3 staff just standing around chatting. Owner needs to realise we would have spent 3 times as much if staff were more attentive.

Excellent service and really good atmosphere

It’s table service only which I normally don’t care about but was waiting an hour in between drinks to be served. Although I booked in advance they put me right next to the door away from the bar. Was right next to a 40th birthday party who were all screaming , couldn’t even hear my partner next to me. I wouldn’t recommend. They also only have 4 rosé wines to choose from which isn’t very many considering it’s a wine bar. There was no menu online or anything that I could find either . unfortunately didn’t enjoy my time there

Pretty atmospheric bar, friendly staff and of course a good wine selection. Be nicer to have more by the glass. Also would be nice to have Guinness. No Guinness is sacrilege.

Cracking place, great selection of beers and fine wines

We were a little disappointed with the whole experience. We booked a table weeks ago, when we arrived we were allocated 2 seats against a wall with a very small shelf, as we were going to eat I asked for a table, we were told that the tables were reserved for 4 plus people. After we were seated and our food ordered more people arrived and a number of tables became occupied by couples and not always 4 plus people. The entertainment was, in our opinion poor and the singer out of tune. We had waited 2 years to spend a Christmas gift but really did feel let down. It was expensive, we didn't have enough table room for food and drinks and the music was poor. We had heard such great things about the wine bar and we will give it another go, just hoping things will be different next time.

Overpriced. Wine is nice but not convinced about the £21 ( as a minimum) price tag. Plus cheese board for 2 is £15 - barely touched the sides plus we didn't get the number of cheeses advertised.

Darley Abbey Wines is one of those places where you feel like you’re transported to somewhere special the moment you step in. Great selection of drinks and fantastic atmosphere - highly recommend! Great pizza as well and everything could be ordered through an convenient app.

Visited on Boxing Day which was a Sunday so live music on. Great atmosphere and brilliant staff. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Will definitely visit again. Best to book - it is very popular.

I came here on a wet rainy boxing Day. I'm not a wine drinker myself, however I was pleasantly surprised with how great there beer selection is, many great breweries from the local area. The staff are all nice and let us stay beyond our booked time. Also I got to show off my Roy Cropper t shirt for the first time.

Booked a table for 6pm on Christmas Eve. I booked on line exactly 28 days prior as booking app will not let you book any further in advance and I knew it would be a busy afternoon /evening. Now I I love this place, visited several times before and enjoy the chilled vibe and the fact that it is table service and the staff are very attentive, what I was totally disappointed with was that considering I had booked early, when we arrived the only two tables available were that two as you enter near the main door and toilets. I was disappointed that we did not have a table further into the bar area. To add insult to injury other people arriving after us seemed to get tables further near the bar even though I had asked if there were any other tables available for 3 people, and was told no. I can understand being given one of these two tables if we had just walked in without booking and they were used as overflow, unless of course someone had moved onto our reserved table before we arrived which is not fair when we booked so early. After asking a second time if we could move we were accommodated in the bar area but to be honest I think there needs to be a reservation policy when tables are booked in advance, they should have reserved signs assigned to them and the two tables near the door should be left for walk ins. I will visit again because I do like this bar and the atmosphere but just wanted to highlight the table bookings system needs to be a bit better.

Sunday is music afternoon, you are advised to book as this is very popular event, place was full to bursting. Staff do an excellent job in serving customers and there is a great selection of drinks on offer.

Great drinks, toilets disgusting, stank of cigarettes.

Called in for one and stayed all afternoon. Electric vibe, great friendly and professional staff and excellent selection on the bar. To cap it all an incredible female vocalist brought the house down. Had a slight problem with one of our drinks and the staff changed it straight away. The owner constantly checked to see if all was well, there was no need all spot on. Can't wait to go back

Beautiful atmospheric wine bar with friendly knowledgeable staff. Cosy and comfortable place to relax or bring friends for a night out. Its a great hidden spot in Derby and well worth the time to visit.

It is back and better than ever, very stylish and contemporary bar which has had a makeover. The bar area has been expanded to accommodate more seating for customers with fabulous décor throughout. There is always a warm welcome from staff and the service is quick and efficient with a fabulous choice of wines to choose from.

Fantastic setting based in the historical Darley Abbey mills. Nice ambience, great service, COVID safe measures in place. Sit indoors, down by the river or in the old yard. Drinks are reasonable priced/town prices with a good selection of local beers, gin or wine on offer... full table service is in situ🍻🥂 it can get busy at the weekend so getting in earlier is probably best to get the seats you want. Would highly recommend it 👍

Not such a bad place to have local to home ... Love, love love it here, they have such a fantastic selection of wines and the ambiance is cosy and relaxing with comfy seating and wood burning fires in winter and outdoor seating in summer.

A fantastic array of beautiful wines for you to taste. You can buy by the glass or bottle and comfortably sit in a beautifully converted mill. The staff are very much the hosts, are very welcoming and ready to chat about choices of wines. I can't wait until they start their wines tastings in the new year

Nothing better as enjoying a few drinks on a Saturday afternoon in this fabulous wine bar with family and friends, excellent service as usual from the staff.

In last night for the first time, good to see the reuse of these old building. Great choice of wines at reasonable prices, excellent service and ambiance. My one negative would be does the background music have to be so loud?

We live about two minutes walk from this place but only visited for the first time last night - we're kicking ourselves on having missed out all of this time! Lovely decor, very friendly staff and the Darley Abbey Cider on draught was lovely. The courtyard seating at the back was perfect for possibly the last long sunny evening of the summer! It got very busy with (I think) wedding guests having a drink before heading to an evening reception at the nearby wedding venue but it never felt too busy, just buzzing. A real find and we'll definitely be back to sample the wimes, gins and cocktails in due course ...

A hidden gem and well worth a visit. Nice place to visit if your having a stroll through the park and need a quiet spot in a nice location with a delicious drink and nibbles. Friendly staff, too. Highly recommended.

When you mix a great setting, superb old building sympathetically converted, great selection of wine and other drinks, plus excellent snack food - what more could you ask! We had a great time at the wine bar and would 100% recommend it - well worth seeking out. It looks great - very Instagram friendly (!) as my daughter put it !!!!!

Was told about this place last year but have only recently visited. What a fool.... I've been missing out. Fab quirky place. Friendly, happy staff. Lots of comfortable seating (uncomfortable one's too!) - outdoor seating available for those warm summer nights. Great wine. Didn't get to try the cheese board as we'd eaten an hour prior to our visit, but it looked good.

Really lovely to have a walk out to this wine bar. Not enough places like this about Derby. Beautiful setting and a wide range of wine available to suit all budgets.

The best place to go in Derby by a mile. I've been a few times now and held off reviewing it because I wanted to make sure the first experience wasn't a one off. It was not. This is a chilled 'grown-ups' bar where you can go and have a good chat over some quality drinks. The owners are very knowledgeable about wines and although I haven't done one of their wine tastings (which I will be doing in the future) they are always friendly and helpful when it comes to choosing your wine - really good for helping with new wine choices that you might not have heard or thought of. The surroundings are warm and cosy with lots of interesting features. They've made a real effort to make it a place with an atmosphere. From the furniture to the lighting and all the little details in-between, everything is perfect. We live in Kilburn (a few miles up the A38), and although we have some awesome places to drink around us, we quite often make the journey to go and enjoy this wonderful place. If you're looking for somewhere different to your usual 'bar' this is the one. I cannot recommend this place enough.

A little off the beaten track, tucked into the mill at Darley Abbey. Fantastic spot to share a bottle of wine in lovely surroundings. Beautifully cosy on cold evenings; I can’t waif to go back in the summer!

Went here last night for the 1st time and was blown away by the place. It's stylish and quirky, with a couple of log burners lit and plenty of places to sit. It has a great selection of drinks and the bar staff were all very friendly. Next time I go in, I'm taking a screwdriver with me as some of the prints screwed to the wall need to be in my house!!!! Damn, I shouldn't have said that should I, although I did tell them that last night.

Atmosphere was excellent, great mix of people, the owner & staff were friendly,efficient. The log burner made cosy too. A few tweaks needed a bit pricey but i suppose thats normal your average pub it isnt! the lighting kept dipping the music was inaudible food was definately needed but with a bistro due open in the spring that will be a huge tick in the box.all in all we had a great night.

Slightly hidden away, but a great venue, with quite a decent clientele. Staff are friendly, and the place has a nice vibe.

A little bit tricky to find at Darley Abbey Mills, tucked away behind the toll booth. The interior is stylish adapted industrial with some comfortable seating around conventional tables; but too many uncomfortable high stools around wooden barrels. It can also be quite cold near the door on winter nights; tables can be reserved so that comfortable seating can be guaranteed.

Thank you to Nicole and staff for making Genevieve’s afternoon Hen tea party so memorable. The cakes were amazing as was the beautiful china cups and plates which made the tea taste fabulous. The sardines were amazing just needed more! If you haven’t been yet you must try it; fab atmosphere and lovely lovely people.

We live in Darley Abbey and absolutely love it here, from couples nights, friends nights and an afternoon drink with the kids we are always made to feel welcome, the cheese board is amazing, it’s become obvious to us that the paper mill in Darley Abbey has no room for families with children (even though ours are well behaved) just dogs getting hair everywhere so The Wine Bar is definitely the place to be, I just hope it doesn’t become too well known, we love our secret pub!!

What a great place A little gem in Darley Abbey

Visited with friends who live in the village, early Saturday evening and I found the atmosphere likely pretentious. Obviously this newly opened establishment seems welcome at Darley Abbey, the long spacious room with enough seating was full of the right kind of people enjoying drinks and civilised conversation.

Good selection of drinks and amazing food from Lorentes.

Excellent bar / service and ambience. Visited a number of times now and every time has been great. Amazing location near the river and hidden out of the way, knowledgeable staff with amazing wine and also the odd tapas night with tapas from lorentos in Derby every now and again. This is the new place to be and deserves the 5 star rating

This little place has great atmosphere. Really knowledgeable about their drinks and serve a great range. It well worth persevering to find and it feels like you've descovered something great when you get there.

The reviews so far say it all and you wont be disappointed with the overall ambience of this recently opened wine bar--its a buzzing atmosphere with good music a fine selection of wines plus a small bar food menu.The only downside is the temperature of the white wines which were served much too warm for my personal palate although this is very subjective and the majority of customers probably don't like it ice cold--buy a bottle and place in an ice bucket for ten minutes is perhaps the solution!!!! Apart from that this newly found gem on the horizon has got success written all over it.
