Cafe Nero in Derby

Easily the best Nero I have been to. The staff make this store, always very friendly and welcoming. I love coming here for my morning coffee, and sometimes the occasional lunch time treat. The store is always kept really clean and the music is subtle classical, making for a pleasant environment every time I've been.

I’m dairy free and had a Chocolate and Hazelnut frappe cream. It was very great, lived up to the title and still had dairy free cream. I used coconut milk and you couldn’t tell that i did. The staff are very lively and kind and service was quick. I strongly recommend this. A coffee was also ordered (with dairy in it) and was very tasty. In the photo, i had already had some of the whipped cream and chocolate on top.

Fav coffee shop for early morning hideaway en route to work. Quite with easy access bathroom at back and a disabled one at front. Lovely music which plays for peaceful atmosphere in mornings. Outside seating which is lovely for non rainy days. Only wish they had GF options and slightly larger portions for tea.

The staff are friendly and cheerful. The place could do with an update although the furniture is comfortable.

Great coffee shop, relax atmosphere. My only complaint is that the bathroom facilities could be kept a lot cleaner and sometimes the espresso isn’t always consistent but on the whole it’s mostly great. I like to how I can watch my order being made as this is very visual satisfying for me. Autistic/ on spectrum friendly 👍 Bathroom 👎

Been here before some time ago. Called Friday morning 26th may 2023 at 8.45. Plenty of seating. Coffee was very nice. Great customer service and was delivered to my table with no hesitation.

Not bad overall. The place is pretty dingy and always looks/feels a bit grimy; sticky tables with sugar on them and marks on the walls. Apart from that, the drinks are good and staff are friendly.

Typical café Nero. Good coffee guaranteed, expensive unfortunately, nice sweet selection, staff actually know their job and do it well.

I don't normally do chain store coffee.... But it wasn't awful. My latte was actually distinguishable from my wife's cappuccino, almost a first in a Neros. The cake was fresh moist and didn't have the texture of something that should have been binned 3 days ago. Maybe I just got lucky on fresh cake day, but I felt the place lacked the sense of apathy that's normal with this sort of establishment.

Caffè Nero is my most like coffee shop in UK, the coffee is extremely great. Cakes are excellent. The service is the best. The shopping apps is easily to use and can redeem gifts efficiently. Seats are great, either inside or outside the shop.

Coffee is quite good. But the place need to be refurbished... it is all dirty and looks very old :)

Incredible service. I came in on Saturday to find my voucher code didn’t work for the pistachio latte and she comp’d the coffee for me.

Serves excellent coffee and the food's good too - if a little pricey. Can be very busy and involve queues back to the door which is a bit awkward with comings and goings. A nice spot to sit outside if weather allows, to do a bit of people watching...

I have been a regular here for the past 2 months, coming here every other day. Real good place, exceptionally good espresso, better than Gregs by miles in terms of coffee, and better than Costa in terms of service. Very friendly staff at Nero, very efficient staff behind the counter, Chris, Jody and Abby. And the customer service of Beth is out of this world, very friendly, very welcoming, very courteous. I want to hug her as a thanks. The staff is quick, efficient to process the order, payment and have our order ready in front of us. Espresso is the best I have had after coming to the UK.

Came here today with my friend for the first time. Great welcoming service by a lovely lady on the tills. Nice setting inside. The drinks and cake we had was nice too. Will definitely be returning!

Disgusting toilet. Tables dirty. They should check toilets more often and clean tables after customers leave.

I prefer to go to Nero's over Costa, these days. Hot chocolate is hot, not lukewarm or cold. Chai tastes better than competition and always as if you want cinnamon. Staff can multitask. Tables are clean, staff friendly and efficient.

Went for a Saturday morning coffee and muffin, service was fast, they were super organised. The coffee was great, they offered me new Brazilian beans. And a nice chilled out quiet atmosphere.

We were waiting 2 hours to go into the Cathedral so Neros was a welcome break. I tried the Chai tea and it was lovely. I will definitely have it again. The freshly squeezed orange juice was also delicious.

They need to get on top of their cleaning. It was a hot day.. but that's not an excuse for the squadrons of flies continuously landing on your food, your plates & your cup.. they are everywhere! Presentation is also poor - although happy with my coffee, my food wasn't warmed, and then ....the flies

Fridge not working so the items we both wanted were not available. We took the last of each item from another area but not what we really wanted. Should have gone somewhere else but decided to stay. Not the best experience today sadly. Ash trays outside where full and we dont use them but suffered the smell.

Overall a very nice cafe. The size of shop is quite large however you wouldn't be able to tell from looking outside. The coffee was great but maybe a little small for price. Other than that the staff were very friendly, the coffee was great, the cafe was clean, the food was good and the was plenty of seating inside and out.

I visit here around once a fortnight and it's always a lovely experience. Staff members are really nice, there is lots of choices for Vegetarians, including toasties, wraps, yoghurts, pastries, cakes. They are all marked if they are Vegetarian and Vegan which is great. So many options of drinks, cold and hot, bottled, takeaway cups or drink it in. My favourite is the Hot Chocolate with Cream on, always consistent everytime I order it. Tables are always clean. They have toilets which have always been clean. A lot of seating inside and outside.

Been to Caffè Nero a few times now with a group of friends it seems to be our mutual choice to sit down and have a catch up over coffee. Great service at Caffè Nero not waiting in long queues as the service is quick and the staff are polite.

Lovely coffee. Ruined by foreign blokes sat outside smoking and watching women. Toilets could be cleaner!

We shared a vegan meatball panini and a slice of salted caramel and chocolate cheesecake with a soya flat white and an Americano. Service was good, the food was very tasty and the coffee was robust and full flavoured.

Very poor experience. Having to push through a load of smokers outside who hog all the outside tables while not buying. Also no smoking tables provided are used by smokers. No spend no sitting should be the mantra. Tables not cleared or cleaned between customers. Horrible place.

What a dump. Desperately in need of renovation! It smells, it’s filthy dirty, bird poo on tables and window fills littered with hairs yuk

Nice staff and great drinks, everything with coffee is very strong so make sure you like coffee or get something without any of it. Only reason for 4 stars is the toilets are gross. Tiniest little hole with a door that opens inwards, hardly enough room for you to squeeze in past the open door and then you're met with just a gross little toilet room. But everything outside the toilets is great

I have been to this nero many times over the years. It is in need of a good refurbish. The positive is that for a nero it has a decent amount of charging points, something usually lacking at many other neros. The main issue with this cafe is crime, I know it got broke into and phones have been robbed, so be watchful.

Had coffee with some friends outside due to covid restrictions but it was quite pleasant as the weather was good. Inside is rather dark and unattractive anyway so it worked out well. Staff were friendly and efficient.

It’s always good to be able to write a really positive review, after a poor review of Caffè Nero which I wrote nearly two years ago now. We are regular weekend visitors to Caffè Nero now. Simply put, if we didn’t like their coffee, or if the service was sliding, we would go somewhere else!. The coffee is strong, robust and balanced. The range of pastries is always fresh. Service is always cheerful and attentive. Current social distancing requirements and measures are clearly in place and strictly observed. The cafe is clean and neat, and room temperatures are appropriate for a comfortable ‘sitting-in’ experience. There are alternatives close by, by why change a good thing if you’re happy with it! The caffe is right in the heart of the City of Derby, a short walk from the Intu centre. It is at ground level and wheelchair accessible to the serving counter and some seating, but there are a couple of stairs up to the main seating area.

Recently, the store has been a lot better! Credit where credit due! You can never go wrong with a Nero! Keep it up guys!
