Cosy Club Derby in Derby

Booked party menu for our family of 8 yesterday evening. We were the last party in the restaurant but that said you would still expect good service and food. When the food arrived it was very basic. My salad looked like it had just limped out of the bag. One of our party after informing the waiter his hadn’t arrived, in the meantime everyone else had finished, was told it was the chef’s fault and the ox cheeks would soon be with him. When the meal arrived it was inedible as the pasta wasn’t even cooked. Obviously this was sent back. While this was all happening we tried to order a round of drinks, again these never arrived even though at this point there was no one else left in the restaurant. There was an adequate amount of staff to serve just very disappointed. When we complained to the manager he did knock the price of two meals off the bill. However this is not what you would expect in any restaurant and they need to up their game.

This is my go to place in Derby. The artwork is quirky. Great food and the service is why i keep going back.

Overall the experience was excellent, the food was amazing the waiters were very attentive but it was just that the bar staff were to slow- only reason why they didn't get 5 stars. I will be back again and soon.

We went for a works christmas meal on the 15th of december and was treated amazingly by our server. There was 17 of us so quite a big party but she made sure we were well looked after the whole night.

Had a private party for works Xmas doo and it was good apart from when asked to turn the music up they said they couldn't....it was a party??? Nice staff, very big room amazing door staff so polite 🖖

Attended a Christmas party here. Staff did really well for such a busy period and the food was unexpectedly good (Christmas meals can often be disappointing due to the volumes that need preparing). Well done to the staff. Loses one point for the excessive prices for alcohol free beer.

We attended for a work Christmas party; they seated around 50 of us. The starter was a sharing platter which was generous, but the main (a Camembert Wellington) was quite disappointing. The place is fairly pricy for Derby, but the experience was good.

The food is absolutely delicious and the service was amazing all wrapped up in a great atmosphere.

Starter and main course was good, pudding was disappointing. Service charge automatically added and wasn't made clear at the time of booking, which left a bitter taste considering how much the group had spent.

The Cherry Bakewell cocktail is a must! The Cosy Burger was tasty. We found the service to be okay nothing special, but we were not rushed to vacate the table and the overall atmosphere was quiet even though it was a Saturday evening.

We love cosy club Derby , good vibes , staff are always friendly and attentive. We were disappointed in the lack of mains for vegetarians. N.B Cosy Club management, I cancelled a meal for a large group in MK as family members thought the menu choices were limited.

A beautifully decorated restaurant chain with decent food and lovely people who work there. Quiet on a Sunday night, which you would expect. We had a big party and they were so accommodating!

An absolute hidden gem, right in the middle of Derby, reasonable pricing, brilliant and friendly service. Dining area is an old ballroom, and has a lovely atmosphere. Food was delicious and quick, the same floor drinks service. Great range of options, and did extremely well when fully booked up.

Passing through Derby with the missus on the way from Preston to the Suffolk coast, and wanted something a bit nicer than the motorway service plaza food. Hugely pleasant surprise. Food was high quality, prices about right, menu about as varied as it needed to be. The building is restored but architecture and decorations preserved -- absolute eye candy. Highly recommended.

The most expensive lager I have ever purchased inside the UK outside London...£6.60 a pint. We used to frequently visit but won't be again in a hurry due to the prices. Staff and service was good as usual.

Went out for some lunch today with my friends and Elora was amazing! She was so knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. The drinks she made us were also delicious!! Wonderful day

When for a couple of cocktails with friends, surprisingly quiet for a Friday night. Dimly lit atmosphere meant I needed my mobile flash to read menu ( aging eyes) mixed bag on cocktails one shined and one bombed as the new bar tender was not sure how to make it so half way through another team member jumped in, let's just say not to their normal standards

I was looking forward to going to the cosy club for the first time. I’m so sad to say it was a complete disappointment. Although the venue was absolutely beautiful, the service was appalling. We waited an hour before somebody took our order, a further hour for the food to arrive And when it did, it came out in dribs and drabs meaning that some of our party got half their meal such as the fish and then waited a further 20 minutes for the chips. Nobody checked back with us to see if everything was okay. My steak that should have been medium was done to death, but I was too afraid to complain as I wonder ended up staying for breakfast! The plates were not removed and left in front of us. We asked for condiments , three times and water twice which never came. The restaurant was about 1/4 full, so not terribly busy. There is no apology for the slow service, only a sorry about that. It’s not been a great night when I complained and asked for the service charge of 10% to be removed. Such a disappointment I’m afraid I would never go again.

Lovely setting, friendly staff, food okay but the portion sizes are tiny.... Out of 9 of us, we all agreed that the food wasn't substantial enough...

We went there with a colleague on Monday .. the atmosphere was great l, food delicious and our waitress Laura was so friendly and helpful !!

James and Aishat were absolutely brilliant, they were so welcoming and treated our special occasion meal with such kindness and hospitality which made it an extra special night. Would definitely come back again!

Quiet on a Sunday- Great if your want that (we did!). Really helpful staff. Didn't have food, only cocktails. We'll be back.

Came for breakfast. Ordered the butchers breakfast, it was so tasty but very filling I couldn't quite finish it. Bread was sooooo nice and eggs cooked to perfection. If you want a nice full english come here! Staff also great, checked to see if everything was OK a few minutes in, which it was of course!

Wonderful experience and delicious food and cocktails

I absolutely loved this place! The prices are absolutely reasonable. The food is amazing. The service was perfect. We went as a couple with an under one year old and they were so forthcoming and had a babychair, a changing room and gave us some food for our kid. Definitely a big recommendation, would come here again.

We made the decision to settle down and have coffee after taking a little stroll through the city centre. We made the decision to try it after seeing the site. The personnel is amiable and courteous. The place looks fantastic, and the vibe is lively. Many tables and an added benefit: pet-friendly! What further questions are there?

£32 for a seriously bad fillet steak. Overcooked on a below temperature grill. Sent it back twice. Just rubbish! Was not charged but very unimpressed!

Didn't eat on this occasion. Bar staff slow to serve (maybe lack of staff). Cocktail, glass was 3/4 full, expensive for that amount of liquid but tasted great.

Has a wedding celebration in their private room and it was perfect. Food, drinks, atmosphere all brilliant! But what makes it even better, the people are great at their jobs. pleasant, efficient and attentive without being in your face! So whether you are a couple dining or you are having a small party I can highly recommend this place. I really could not find fault! Thanks a million Cosy Club Derby

This restaurant has a great vibe. The cocktails are incredible. There are vegetarian options. Everyone is very friendly and overall a great experience.

After reading some of the reviews I was a bit doubtful of my choice. However the evening was great nice food all hot and fantastic service. Thanks Adam. My only little gripe was the portion sizes of the mains for the money could have been a bit bigger for the price. But still 5 stars. It was a leaving do for 12 and everybody enjoyed.

Lovely decor, friendly staff but sadly a mixed review for food. The two adults in our party had a lovely meal but we were very surprised when the children’s burger came out to see it was half a burger in a bun! Whilst we were fully expecting it to be a small portion to that of the main menu, i’ve never seen a kids burger look like this! Even the waiter didn’t know what to say and went off to ask he chef if this was normal - which apparently it is!

Cosy club’s menu is varied and interesting but dishes are prepared slowly and inconsistently. The staff are worse but are also slow and inconsistent in one ironic show of consistency across the restaurant. A relatively simple fresh ravioli dish took 30 minutes from ordering to serving. It would have needed max 3 minutes cooking time, being fresh pasta with a simple herb butter sauce. I had the same dish a few weeks ago and whilst it took the same inordinate amount of time, it had far more herb butter and hence flavour. Today, it was just too dry, showing the inconsistency in the kitchen, despite this being a chain restaurant serving food in pre-ordained portions and using standardised cooking instructions. Training in consistency is clearly in order. The bigger problem, however, is the staff. They are mostly inattentive, choosing to chatter amongst themselves while guests are waiting for salt and pepper, grated cheese or even the bill. They are often even inexistent or nowhere to be seen when you are trying to order or pay and have a surly approach to any feedback. They let the place down even more than the slow and inconstant food preparation and serving. Training in service and manners needed across the board.

This was an amazing evening the food was amazing the best vegan food iv ever had ! The place was very nice too and the staff were very friendly and helpful! I will definitely be returning for another visit and burger !!!!

A beautiful building and lovely staff. Cassie our waitress was lovely. Food was really tasty although " small plates" are small! Two medium glasses of wine and soda were very expensive...the most I've ever been charged at £10.25 each and 60 p extra for the soda!!! I've paid less than £20 for a bottle in many other places...max £25. So sad to see the place so quiet although this is a Tuesday. Suggestion: Try some mid week specials to get people in the door...and some better value Sauvignon. Lovely building though and nice staff.

Walk up the entrance staircase not sure of what awaits you, at the top a world of decadence awaits with stylish furniture and superb chandeliers, ok so the decor is impressive what about the cuisine? Superb cocktails and excellent food was what followed, the Sea Bass was spectacular and the Expresso martini exquisite, all served by Maddie adding class to the experience, overall I can’t recommend this venue highly enough. There is one area that they can improve on though and this is feedback for the management, the beer choices let you down, there is an easy answer though… speak to Shiny brewery at Little Eaton and stock a selection of their fabulous IPA’s they will add to your great offerings We will be back without doubt

Food ok, however it can be expensive Portion size could be a little bigger as well so you feel you’ve got value for money.

Decor and breakfast is a must see in Derby. Loved the shakshuka and the fritters. The waiter was kind and helpful. Plenty of spaces at the first floor.

Really enjoyed our visit today, food was great. However, it isn't the food I'd like to comment on, it is the service. Adam was absolutely brilliant and definitely made the trip worthwhile.

The not so cosy cosy club! Myself and my family popped in for a warm, a bite to eat and to feed my 6month old Gran daughter. It was freezing in there, after ordering our coffees to warm us up and breakfast, I asked for the heating to be put on. The young lady informed us it had been broken for 1 and a half months, how awful for the staff! Coffees arrived, no steam coming off them and we're able to be drunk within seconds of there delivery. Food arrival, again only just warm. Won't be returning

In rundown central Derby, the Cosy Club inside is a pleasant surprise. Huge dining room with chandeliers and interesting decor. Food is okay, nothing special, I had the ‘Dirty Chicken Burger’ which was nice. Service was good and staff helpful, overall worth a try if in the area.

My friend and I did a bottomless Thursday lunch and it was fantastic! The best! I don't think I'll go anywhere else for one now. It was slightly more expensive but we wanted nice food and cocktails... And it was totally worth it. The food was so delicious and the staff was fantastic!

Stunning place and lovely atmosphere, staff are really nice and friendly. Lots of stairs but there is a lift which I hadn't noticed until leaving.

Great birthday lunch. Friendly welcome, clean and tidy, lovely decor and atmosphere. Excellent food, excellent gluten free menu. Food came with a flag on it to ensure I got the right meal.

Far from Cosy last night. Absolutely freezing cold. Why would anyone want to go to eat in this restaurant in Derby unless they were wearing clothing for an Antarctic expedition? Naturally we walked out.

Popped in just for a coffee, as I was in Derby for work. Coffee was delicious and the service was fantastic. I love cosy club in general but this one is great, will be back if ever I find myself in Derby again. Beautiful flat white photo attached

Called in for a late lunch on Monday 11th March 2024 from the moment we arrived we were made very welcome. The restaurant is an amazing building with excellent decor. The food was superb, so good in fact we went back on the Wednesday!! And the excellent standards were maintained, we would recommend this without reservation. We have been on holiday going home tomorrow and just wish there was somewhere like this near us!! Thanks to all the staff.

Really lovely venue and busy on a Saturday lunchtime. Lot of choice on the menu making it difficult to choose! We opted for salmon fish cakes with a side of chips and green veg cheese bake with a salad as a side dish. Food was delicious and the salad was finely chopped and properly dressed. Wine was good as was the coffee. Would happily return.

Very disappointing... been a couple of times before and enjoyed the experience.. this however was very poor.. waited 20 minutes to get a drink And over an hour for food, which was very dry, overcooked and not really warm... none of our party of 7 were impressed .. the deserts weren't great either... shall not be racing back..

I’m really disappointed to write this as I generally have always enjoyed coming to the cosy club in Derby. However sadly tonight was a disappointment. To highlight this is nothing to do with the staff and service, this is always great. It’s the menu and the prices that come with it. The seabass dish was around £17pp and was nothing to rave about, a medium size piece of seabass and a few new potatoes in a watery soup sauce. I ordered the fish cakes which were also sadly disappointing. The bigger issue is cosyclub are adding dishes like this to their menu at minimum £15pp, the food does not reflect with the price. In perspective somebody has worked 1 hour at least to pay for a meal here? That’s a lot of money! To see a lot of young people taking their mums out for Mother’s Day I’m sure this was a shock to see the dish presented to them when the price is high. You can definitely find better value and nicer food elsewhere, cosyclub as a company need to review their menu.

Food was excellent. Atmosphere superb. Wait for food a bit slow. Ran out of bread so couldn’t have starter. Ran out of chocolate dessert so couldn’t have that and was set on getting that. They were accommodating and did make an ice cream thing for us that wasn’t on the menu. But really, how can you run out of bread?

Absolutely loved it here and the food was very good. I ordered garlic prawns and olives as a starter, followed by a gourmet burger that was cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend! ✨

A hidden gem i stumbled across in Derby, highly recommend the coffee and food, not to mention the ambience

The food is OK, I mean we had smashed avocado with poached egg - the avocado was not smashed (just cut into cubes) and my friend complained that her egg wasn’t cooked (they took £1.50 off the bill for the egg) unfortunate they discontinued the Eggs Benedict which was our go-to. on the other hand the service is excellent

The duck was lovely it’s the fact you’re paying £18 with no sides and no indication this isn’t included in the meal. You’re supposed to guess if you want/ need baby potatoes and veg- should be a standard! How many people want a leg of duck completely on its own

Food was nice, slightly different to what I expected when ordering. Building is great. Toilets were clean but a little tired.

We were said couple whose husband had the allergen that wasn’t “a choice”. Our friends have left reviews and I can now see you have responded. Thank you. For us unfortunately with the attitude we received by the staff we shall not be eating here again nor shall we been hosting our works functions/events that we have recommended to so many in the past at this establishment.

Came here last Friday for a meal while on a visit from Birmingham. The food was lovely, the staff were brilliant and attentive. Great atmosphere. I had the chicken smash burger.............. was so nice. Highly recommended

Mediocre food, high prices, rude argumentative manager. Not what you expect when you go out for a meal with friends. Don't waste your money

Positive: nice food and drinks although on the pricey side and a lovely venue Negative: one party member was upset as the waitress had questioned whether he was gluten free by choice or not which we thought a very strange thing to ask someone who would choose gluten free they should either prepare gluten free meals or not there shouldn’t be anything in between or less care in prep if it’s a “choice”. Then he clearly asked for no onions in his burger. When the food arrived there were lots of onions so my friend then said well you were too busy asking if I was gluten free by choice to note down the no onions request. The waitress response was abrupt “excuse me” “I don’t appreciate you talking to me like that” then walked away. This totally killed the atmosphere made it very awkward my friend had to then walk away for 5 minutes his food was then cold still with onions soaking into it. The waitress was then heard slagging the table off to her colleague openly in the next room. One of the 4 managers I didn’t catch his name said he defends his staff not a care for how our table felt and that our birthday meal out was ruined. Not a great way to manage someone with a sensitive food intolerance. Customers should be able to complain when they are made to feel bad, poor service and when a meal is incorrect. We didn’t receive any apology from anyone. Restaurant staff should be employed for their excellent people skills and further trained to handle complaints in a non-escalating way. We will not be eating here again.

Lovely venue but the food was very disappointing at price point when compared to other alternatives. Cheese pie portion, and lack of any accompaniment was frankly just an overpriced joke. We therefore didn’t have a dessert and moved on to elsewhere. Won’t rush back.

Been here a few times but this was the first that I’ve had breakfast here and I’m glad we decided to! I had the classic breakfast with fried egg with an extra side of streaky bacon and my partner had Spice Berry Pancakes (6 stack) we also had a latte too. Went down a treat and just what we wanted. Always enjoy coming here especially with the old rustic decor which is like stepping back in time. Looking forward to my next visit here! Hopefully for a drink in the weekend when there is more atmosphere.

Breakfast with a gentle 30's jazz club vibe. Interestingly decorated with plenty to point at and talk about while you enjoy the music, atmosphere, and above all the food. Plenty have cooked and sold me a full English, few have done it as well as here. Well done to your buyer and supplier and chef as every item was of the highest quality and tasted wonderful. Add in the superb and friendly service and it's a winning combination that I am in a hurry to repeat.
