The Wilmot Arms in Derby

I've not eaten here so I can't comment on the food but if it's anything like the staff and beer I'm sure it's very good.

Would pop in from time to time over the years. It's always been a nice pub from a "boozer" back in the day to becoming a "steaming Billy" & and now, back to its original name, The Wilmot. It has been decorated inside and out recently, very cosy, warming colour scheme which I can only describe personally like I would be sitting in a study room belonging to Sherlock holmes on a cold night & I'm sure in warmer weather, the colour scheme will still work. The garden..well... another hidden gem.! Just check it out. It's hopefully gonna be a place to be seen in during hot sunny days to drink & be merry.

Fresh clean old pub friendly atmosphere very welcoming

Very rude and told to "b...off" as tables needed for quiz night. Staff said they "didn't care" if people vapid inside. Won't be going back.

Quite a small place so at weekend is very busy and no seats left. Good idea they habe a screen showing what is going on. Very much for locals.

our first visit to this pub, and what a pleasant suprise, it was so clean , drinks were excellent,the inside and outside siitting areas are perfect, background music was listenable, unlike some pubs where its so loud, that people are shouting to be heard, weve tried every pub in the area and this gets a full 5 star from us, definitely, this will be our local from now on

I popped in for a quick whisky and a catch up so cant rate the food as of yet but the customer service was top notch

My first time in there tonight what a great place judt brilliant

Been to this pub a couple of times and each time found the bar staff very miserable not a smile between them. Not a place I would recomend. Last time we went in was 11 May 2023. Had to walk out because we were ignored at the bar. Wont be going back there

This has basically become my "new local" whilst I've been working nearby over the last 18months. Excellent selection of draught which includes Jubel Peach and excellent staff. The pies are amazing too...

Nipped in here for a pint. Really love the decor inside. Super cosy! They do a cracking bottled stout that tastes amazing! Would recommend nipping in. Will definitely be going back!

Literally THE best boozer in Chaddesden. I know the choice is severely limited in this area these days but they alway have a great choice of beer on draught including gluten free Jubel peach beer for my coaelic wife and tasty craft beers from respectable craft breweries like Beavertown. Friendly staff and well ran pub. Never disappoints. 🍻

An excellent small, Steaming Billy pub. The beer choice is good and is always excellently kept. The pub is warm and cozy with 3 rooms. A lounge split across the entrance and a bar up a few stairs. Tidy, covered beer garden and smoking area and a decent sized car park. Occasionally they have food vans of different types in the car park, see their FB for details.

Best pub in the area by a country mile, it's well run, friendly and has great staff. Thankfully not a pub restaurant but has some very good snacks including amazing pork pies fresh from Owen Taylor butchers. Dont expect cheap and cheerful here but expect quality worth the price.

With Derby staying in Tier3 all pubs/restaurants are closed apart from some offering takeaways. Project D are doing a pop up tent in various locations selling a fabulous choice of doughnuts, if you have not tried them you are certainly missing a treat.

Lovely evening. The serving staff were really helpful. Beer was in fine form.

Bar staff this afternoon no good to customers no people skill

On entering the pub it felt like a regulars pub where most people know each other but need not worry it still didn't make u feel uncomfortable or unwelcome infact people rather welcoming. Members of staff were friendly and even the locals. Drinks were reasonable prices too.

There was playing 60s to 80s disco music songs which brought back great time for us.

Great place with friendly staff and excellent tipples! You can tell how great somewhere is by the fact you cant get a seat, but you hang about in any nook or cranny you can because its just that good! Served by a chap who's first night working there was christmas eve and he was lovely! Credit to the place!

Really like this pub good cosy atmosphere friendly bar staff and a good pint. Years ago this pub was a dive I wouldn't go in, Steaming Billy have turned this place around well done !

Used to play pool here in league,but now just for drinking,lovely atmosphere and and great choices of ales,the landlord is a great man,dog friendly and parking at rear,credit to the staff and thumbs up from me

Awful. That's the only way to describe this place which is a shame as I'm a huge fan of the steaming billy pub, the Coronation. I used to come here and have a great time, as well as banter with the staff, however I decided to go for a beer with some work colleagues after a shift and was met with poor service. This is not an issue as we arrived after 10 on a Saturday, and I knew they closed shortly after, however to be told near closing time, "you need to leave, we're closed" was a little insulting. I still could have looked past this as a tired and fed up staff member, who is only human. What I can not in any way excuse is after we left through the front door (which opened with a simple push) and walking down the street, to be chased down by an angry lady who worked for the pub who shouted at us for unlocking the front door, and said we should have left through the back. When we tried to explain ourselves as the door was not locked, and to apologise for any inconvenience or misunderstanding, the lady swore and stormed off. While my fellow drinking partners are regulars at the venue, I can absolutely not recommend this establishment when spoken to in that manner. If you're searching for a venue nearby I would recommend the Kings Corner. If you are a fan of Steaming Billys I would recommend the Coronation pun in Alvaston which has a fantastic manager, staff, and the food is excellent. It's a shame that this one lady in particular has ruined this venue for me.

Not sure what you can do to improve the atmosphere but it needs something. Live music etc. I understand there will restrictions due to residents. The open mic night does OK but same people every fortnight. How far do you advertise this, great opportunity to get more people in and uncover hidden talent.

The Wilmot has become a bit of a local for me and the wife, we also meet our friends here at the weekends, it’s a nice comfortable place, pleasant staff and a good range of Ales all well kept. Try a pork pie with pickle’s lovely 😊

Called in for a pint after attending the fair at Chad park, what a splendid pub, food looked good but we were only here for alcohol, service good, nice atmosphere, will have a to call again and enjoy the beer garden.

Been visiting this establishment for 45 years, seen many landlord's and landlady's the current crew are doing an excellent job and offer a super range of takeaway food that can be delivered locally to your door.

Always comfortable and spotlessly clean. A really well kept cellar of regularly changing real Ales..... staff are courteous and service is excellent. A real pub!

Went with a group of friends on Saturday night - bit of a school reunion-about 15 of us all in our 50s ! We were the only ones in the bar area - though there were a few in the other room ! The two female staff appeared totally disinterested (especially the older one), serving people seemed to be a chore and just after 10pm they were talking about cleaning down and getting ready to close !! From then on you just had the feeling that you were intruding by being there ! When you run a place that dosnt do food , isn't an entertainment venue & and is few hundred yards from a social club that is about a pound a pint cheaper, I would suggest that the least you could do would be to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere and try to keep (and keep happy ) the customers that do walk in !!!! If you can't get those couple of basics right - the hospitality trade isn't for you !!! I've been in quite a few Steaming Billy brand pubs - this is by far the worst !!! The Wilmot Arms deserves far better !!!

Simple telephone enquiry lead to being told I had annoyed her by ringing on a Sunday at 5.30 pm. Doh, you are a business and I rang in business hours with a genuine enquiry. Reading trip advisor reviews I am not the first to make this comment, and no doubt unless this awful woman gets some manners, I won't be the last. Arrogance in a business is an ugly thing! If you are too busy to deal with an enquiry, say so politely. There are numerous courses you can attend for your condition, but you want to have to change :)

Nice friendly pub. Love dogs too. Good outside area, with heaters, for us nicotine addicts. Bit pricey though, but overall, love it!

Called in last night with my partner and my dad, although the quiz was on and the pa system was abit to loud the place was busy a nice atmosphere the pub was nice and clean and a good choice of beers and ciders all in all a very nice night out

We went for a family meal (3 adults and 2 children) on 13th July ...wow! Fantastic food and excellent service from the whole team. Such good quality ingredients and cooked perfectly. We had a selection of the homemade pies and pizza's - all very yummy! We have our new favourite local 😍 Can't wait to go back. Modern decor, a lovely relaxed atmosphere for both adults and children. We first visited on the previous Saturday, just my husband and myself, and we had such good food and exceptional service from the petite blonde manager (I'm sorry I forgot her name) that we decided to go back this week for a birthday meal. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Awful place, unfriendly, rude and ignorant. Wouldn't return even if I was paid to. It was lucky to get one star, best thing about it is the exit.

The service is very good with very friendly staff and manager. The pub has been refurbished to a good standard in Alvaston.The sirloin steak was delicious along with the peppercorn sauce. They will cook it how you like it. We like our steak well done, it was cooked to perfection and not burnt. The peppercorn sauce was very hot but extremely tasty on the steak. The steak comes with nicely cooked chips or potatoes, onion rings, mushrooms and grilled tomatoes. We also tried the fish and chips, beautiful.The atmosphere is good. Lovely outside area, will be great in the summer with plenty of table and chairs. Dogs are welcome, which did put me off a bit, but they are either kept on a leash or looked after by the owner. Great beers and alcohol.Well worth a try.

My wife and I went to dine at the Steamin Billy in Derby for our anniversary.

Love what this place has transformed into. Nice to have a great local in walking distance. And if the have London Pride in I'll be proppin up the bar.
